• Nightly Roundup #650

Hopefully for many of you those late nights studying are just about over as we head into the summer months. Just hang in there guys, a bit more effort is all it takes!

But first, why not a little break with some pony news? Take a gander after the break!

  • Music of the Day #106

Have we ever had Wildfire header something?  I don't remember off the top of my head.  Lets change that.  Technically it's relevant!

And have some music to go with her, 11 in all!

Album time! Need to fill up your playlist fast? This is the way to do it!

  • Comic: Dash Academy Updates / Save the Princess / Nightmares

Dash Academy, one of my favorite comic series, has updated quite a bit since the last time we reported on it! Click the sources above to start at the first page of each chapter. It's a great comic series so don't pass it up!

    Comics dudes. Click for full!

  • Yep, Another One: Rarity Rarity Rarity

It's super slow today, and these keep coming in, and you guys seem to enjoy them, so why not have another one.  This time we dedicate an entire compilation to Rarity Rarity Rarity.

And from here, I ask of you all, do you want these in the roundups, or just tossed up when there isn't much else to post?  Usually with memes like this we post a few then move on, but I can't seem to get away from the Rarity Rarity Rarity.

  • Discussion: Do You plan to See Equestria Girls?

Whether we like it or not, our favorite ponies are no longer ponies in Friendship is Magic's first official movie.  It's an odd idea that only the highest levels of Hasbro's marketing department could possibly come up with, but at the same time, we have the incredible team at DHX behind hopefully converting the bad into something good.  Need I remind you that these are the same folks that made a show about cartoon horses take over the geek side of the internet?  I have some faith.

Lets fast-forward to June when it starts invading theaters and eventually home DVD sets.  How many of you are going to give it an open-minded shot? And how many of you are going to pretend it never existed in the first place?

As much as I dislike the idea of turning the ponies into barbie dolls, I am looking forward to the background references.  From the images floating around the internet, it looks like literally every pony is included.

I guess the worst case would be a flood of ridiculously happy Lyra fanfiction.  I've seen bigger explosions!

Question gathered from various people on Twitter.   Thanks for the flood of discussion posts!
  • Spotlight Music: Cute Guardian of Hell / Legends Box / This Day Aria (Chiptune)

We haven't had a song dedicated to Cerberus yet. Even the Hydra got some love back in the day. Start off with a Progressive instrumental track for him, followed by a bit of instrumental rock in the second slot, and finish with a chiptune version of This Day Aria. All below the break!

1.) Nicolas Dominique - Cute Guardian of Hell
    2.) Legends Box - NightWalker
3.) This Day Aria (Remix) (Cover) - StormWolf [VRC6]

  • Story Updates - May 4th

    Story updates1 Go fly!

  • More Equestria Girls Theater Showings

A few more theaters around the USA are listing Equestria Girls as one of their upcoming films, including a few locations that haven't had access to it recently.  Have a list:

    Marcus Theaters
    Date: Starting July 6th
Locations: Chicago / St. Cloud / Colombus
    Website

    Film Bar
    Date: June 29th
    Location: Phoenix, AZ
    Website

    Ultra Star Cinema
    Date: June 22nd
Location: Chula Vista, CA / Cathedral City, CA
    Website

I'm sure we will see a ton more as the date approaches.  It looks like a good amount of smaller theater chains are going to be showing it.

Thanks to Ashley for the heads up!
  • Drawfriend Stuff #794

Ponies in armor just look so incredibly impressive! They may be soft and pudgy pastel colored equines, but when push comes to shove they sure know how to push the kick butt factor up to 11.

    Time for some art guys!

  • Random Merch: Balloons, Bikes, and Messanger Bag

A bunch of completely random pieces of pony merchandise have invaded the world over the past few days.  We start this one off with a set of balloons found in Finland by Hanzki.  We have had a few of these for years now, but I haven't seen either of those designs before.

Head on down below the break for a bike, and a new Doctor Whoof Messanger bag as well!

  • Three Seasons of Fun

I said I was going to start tossing these in the roundup, but then I noticed we have nothing to post, and I also noticed that this is a lot of fun, because fun is a fun word and Candace in Hawaii sounds fun.

So have three seasons of fun below!

  • Equestria Daily, Fanfiction, and You: Survey Results

We released a survey last week asking the fanfic community of Equestria Daily about the job we're doing with the pony fandom's stories. The response was so overwhelming that we had to close it down twenty-four hours later. Now that more than a week has passed by, I'm sure that a lot of you want to know what the results look like.

Reflecting on this survey, there was always going to be a problem with selection bias. Encouraging participation from folks who don't spend time with fanfiction may not have been the best idea, and it only skewed some results more unduly than others. Therefore, I'm not going to post ALL the results we collected. I can, however, be pretty sure that there aren't 29 Hasbro staffers browsing this blog in "No-Fanfiction" mode for legal reasons, so there's that.

Nota bene! I'm only speaking as one pre-reader here. No matter how overwhelming the responses are on certain questions or how I feel about the matter, what I say here should not be taken as a guarantee of action until the pre-readers have all come together and pow-wowed these matters out. Changes to the pre-reader system will be for a later post.

Hit the break for the breakdown, as well as one more question we should've asked on the survey!
