ReplyDeleteIt's was good, but they went for the easy story. "Reading is good and you just need the right book." Nice and easy... which might be why they went for it.
ReplyDeleteIf they wanted for awesome, make it so that RD doesn't like to read because she can't read. If she has poor reading skills, then it teaches not that books are cool, which is subjective, but that reading is important.
Thus Daring Doo was born and Dash has got it bad for adventure fiction.

Final thoughts:
It's not the most exciting episode, but for me it's above average for the season. I'm surprised I didn't see Nurse Redheart or Derpy though.

ReplyDeleteOkay, that was a really fun episode. It was a lot less predictable than Squeezy 6000, and it made up for the weaker Rainbow Dash episodes of the season.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that moment when Rainbow Dash realized she was an "egghead?" That had to be an intentional allegory for the anguish bronies feel when they first discover their love for the show.
And hey, we get our third villain (not merely antagonist) for the series, Ahuizotl (thank you, closed captioning).
They gotta get a strong metal gear-type stealth segment in an episode :P

-Daring-Do, a pegasus, apparently forgot she had wings... or maybe also have wing-troubles ?
-A pony resembling 'Screwball' is staying at the 'mental' section of the Pony Hospital.
-RD has a weird conception of what an ''egghead'' actually is...

ReplyDeleteOkay, so overall I wasn't all that impressed with the episode. Don't get me wrong, it had it's moments, and the Indiana Jones spoof stuff really made this episode, but the moral was so predictable and frankly, it felt a little hammered in. Still, there were plenty of good jokes (pony barking? the hell?) and I was entertained enough.
There is one problem with this episode, other then Rainbows cute disheveled hair look.

Not a whole lot to say this week. It's a perfectly pleasant episode, but it ultimately seems more interested in telling us about Daring-Do than showing us its effect on Rainbow Dash, and consequently it feels a little thin. But honestly, that's not as big a problem as it might sound. Why? Because the adventures of Daring-Do are absolutely worth the attention; fast-paced, creative, and enjoyable, it's pretty easy to see why Rainbow Dash gets so wrapped up in it, because we do too.
ReplyDeleteLots of great little comic moments, too; "Ninja" Dash, barking-mad Hospital Pony (a joke that works perfectly because I spent the whole scene going "where the hay did they get a non-Diamond dog?"), Ruckus vs. Frackus...there may not be a whole lot TO this episode, but what there IS is all perfectly pleasant. :)

ReplyDeleteThey didn't say she broke her wings nor did the X-ray scan prove that they were broken. Just that she shouldn't use them for a few day and given how fast she was ejected from the hospital they weren't ever broken.
She basically got out of the hospital after a day or two of staying in it.
