Isn't Pinkie adorable? I mean, everypony loves Pinkie. Anyone who doesn't is probably an ass. (Ha, foreshadowing and a donkey joke! I'm full of comedy gold today!)

(No, I don't think you're an ass if you don't like Pinkie... but you're probably confused, because repeatedly breaking the fourth wall is pretty awesome.)

I hate to do a "me too", but me too. There's been some great individual character development in S2, but very little relationship development.

I didn't like this episode much. It had its good parts: Rainbow Dash in the library, for example. But the main story felt overdone: Pinkie was rather too oblivious to the distress she was causing to the extent that she started to come across as something of a moron. By the time she'd destroyed Cranky's wig she should have reached the "oops" point of realisation that she'd crossed the line, but that point never came.

Pinkie has always been hyperactive but at the same time she's always shown considerable sensitivity to the feelings of others. In this episode she simply rode roughshod over Cranky's feelings in what was to me a very unPinkie-like way. I'd have been happier if somewhere around the midpoint she had pulled back and put some real effort into understanding Cranky.

    2. Anyone know if the itunes episodes, the ones you can buy are without the hub logo and all that stuff this has a direct effect one whether or not I'll buy the episodes but I can't find the information anywhere.

    3. Wow, I think the "Smile" song might be the best one since Winter Wrap Up - especially toward the end where it loses the bouncy beat and gets epic.

Plus, a bunch of references to previous episodes, and a look into the inner workings of Pinkie's mind. Pretty awesome.

      My thoughts exactly.
Also, I think Pinkie is sometimes too over the top, like sticking an eyeball through the keyhole.

So, you're saing FiM jumped the shark with the second episode? Because that's how long Pinkie Pie's been ignoring the laws of physics and breaking the fourth wall.

    7. Easily one of the best episodes this season, I loved it, I mean c'mon, 4 Pinkie songs in one episode, that's a new equestria record.

    9. Wow. This episode blew my mind in so many different ways. It seriously felt like it had everything, even if the song number kinda stole the show from the rest of the plot. Definitely number 2 on my list of favorite episodes.

While I agree there has been less interaction between the Mane 6, there has been episodes where their interactions were prevalent (Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, The Last Roundup, Hearth's Warming Eve) I just think the purpose of this season was to go into greater depth with the characters, which is why so many episodes have been about individual character development, which I think will ultimately be a good thing for the show

If that's so, where is the FS episode?
I'm not saying that it was a weak episode (it was quite qood) but I really hoped for some Mane 6 interaction after the library scene. The show is not as good as it can be, because it starts to overuse PP and underuse other ponies.

    13. Technically, this was a flawless episode. The felt animation was SO MUCH WIN.

Pinkie, on the other hand... this just solidified her as complete least favorite pony. Hell, I think I like Blueblood or Trixie better than her, and I hate them. If she had learned an actual lesson about respecting other's privacy or learning to listen to other people rather than running roughshod over them and humiliating them for her own needs, then I would have been happy.

But no, she gets a deux-ex-machina ending that somehow makes everything better and excuses her complete lack of sensitivity. No character development at all.

    14. EP was ok.

I kinda got annoywed at Pinkie's inability to understand his want of peace till AFTER she had already crossed the line. And even then she was practically choking his personal space so she can get an apology.......bad Pinkie, bad!

Other then me feeling sorry for CDD it was hilarious to watch anyways XD

    17. and it's gonna be awesome because Fluttershy is best pony, her and Twilight merely took a backseat this season to give the others a chance for character development, overall there's only been three episodes this season I haven't been crazy about (Mare-Do-Well, Family Appreciation Day, and Baby Cakes) even so it's not like I disliked those episodes, between the focused character development, world building, and side character attention I think this season has been good and doing the necessary building-up which every show needs

    18. DERP, THIS IS THE WORST EPISODE BECAUSE PINKIE'S EYE WENT THROUGH A KEYHOLE WITHOUT ANY RAMIFICATIONS WHEN SHE SHOULD HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH THE PAIN THAT YOUR EYE BULGING OUT OF YOUR HEAD AND GOING THROUGH A SMALL HOLE WOULD ENTAIL.

Seriously guys, just relax and enjoy stuff for what it is. Pretty much every episode there's always about a dozen or so people who moan and complain about how "x should have happened this way," or "if x really happened, then the moral should have been y, and not z." Heck, if I'm not mistaken it might even be some of the same exact people every week, but I have not bothered to check. The point is, if you're really gonna complain about every little thing that is not perfectly accurate/consistent/how you think it should be, then I'm not exactly sure why you're watching a cute, lighthearted comedy show to begin with.

...Meh, not sure why I bother saying this though. The people this comment is targeted at are just going to ignore it/say some asinine reason why they insist "Season 2 is downhill from season 1" or something.

    19. Oh yeah, and one more thing: plot twist at the end ≠ deus ex machina. It's really annoying these days how frivolous people are in using that term. People are so quick to call most anything a 'deus ex machina' these days and it just makes them look ignorant and whiny.

In fact, they did a fairly good job of foreshadowing the end of this episode in a lot of little ways. Cranky himself says to Pinkie that she's more perceptive than she looks, and throughout the episode you see her looking interestedly at his stuff and seeming to be in thought for brief moments. Her bringing Matilda in the end does *not*, in fact, come out of nowhere and exist just for the sake of resolving everything instantly. It's plot twist that was foreshadowed and everything, and at the same time does not compromise the moral that the episode teaches in the end.

"Dear Princess Celestia, there are many different kinds of friends, and many ways to express friendship. Some friends like to run and laugh and play together. But others just like to be left alone, and that's fine too. But the best thing about friendship is being able to make your friends smile."

    23. First off, 'Smile' makes me smile so hard it hurts. The more I think about it, the more I think it's the best song EVER. It's just...beyond incredible. I was too speechless to comment here yesterday, and can hardly get the words out even today.

Definitely one of the best episodes ever....I love it how so many other episodes are referenced, and how new, recurring characters keep showing up. I bet anything Doodle will show up again, especially since the interaction between him and Pinkie is not only hilarious, but created some FANTASTIC character moments for Pinkie.

Incredible job to the whole crew and cast of the show. *slow clap*

    24. The song was absolutely amazing and Pinkie had a lot of epic moments. I also loved how Dash was reading a Daring Do book; yay for continuity! It's far from my favorite episode, though. Pinkie was extremely obnoxious and inconsiderate throughout most of it.

I'd argue the exact opposite, actually. Pinkie's greatest weakness has always been her inability to empathise successfully with people- which is really quite interesting, as she obviously DOES care what people feel. Note that she didn't notice Twilight wasn't enjoying her own party even in the very first episode- she went to the effort to throw Twilight a party without even knowing her, but she wasn't capable of figuring that Twilight just wanted to be left alone at that point.

I like this episode because it DOESN'T put Pinkie's over-the-top actions in a good light when imposed on someone who doesn't enjoy that sort of thing- even Rainbow says she can be pretty annoying, and Pinkie seems to start to get it. The episode's moral speaks to some real character development, which is something that Pinkie had actually been falling behind on, compared to the other of the Mane Cast.

iTunes episodes are watermark free... aka, they have no logs, or anything on screen. They are 100% clean. The Episodes are 720p, and are about 700MB, so you get a very high quality image.

Yeah no. I thought Smile was 20x better than the previous song, and I love all the songs.

As always, I usually try to ignore the posts after the episode airing because I know there are idiots that like to point out every damn flaw in an episode and make a big deal out of the smallest of details. Also, can't tell if some posts are trolls posts or not.

In my last post I linked it, it's still up.

      HERE

It might not be trolls, maybe Hasbro just wait for EqD to link to it and then send it to the moon. Xyro uploads multiple copies himself, only linking to 1 at a time to prolong the inevitable.

If you search you can find other places to get your pony fix, I think Hasbro are trying to find a balance between doing enough to make it clear they're defending their copyright, and leaving as much pony online for people to get hooked on the show.

Actually, I already invented the Fifth Wall.
I don't think Pinkie has breached it yet since it's the "floor" of the story, I.E. the narrative itself, and she would have just been able to "read ahead to the end" to see how to befriend Cranky.

Creator help us if she breaks the Sixth Wall, the "ceiling", and begins partying with the creative staff in real life.

      @Mechalon
Indeed, I thought I reconized the voice from something Transformers but, for some reason, I kept thinking it was Ratchet.

No, "Starbuck" is a good pony name.

It's such a good name, that I developed the entire concept of Pegastars, Pony Protectors of the Cosmos just to use it...

...Now all I have to do is write an actual story...

      @MudPuppy
I had a feeling early on in the episode that Cranky would end up being the Mr. Wilson to Pinkie's Dennis the Menace, so maybe we will see more of him playing that role in the future!

    40. Loved the episode so much. I heard and enjoyed the song when it was leaked some months back. Seen a couple of nice fan made videos done with the song. But it hit me hard when it was officially released with the actual episode. My heart jumped when I heard the opening notes and there were tears of joy by the end of the song.

I've listened and watched it several times since, but it doesn't hit as hard any more. Kinda wish it did. Oh well. :)

Well thanks. I'm glad you guys agree. I try not not to be too negative about the show but this issue has been so bothering me I had to get it off my chest.

I know what previous episode was about, and it does not excuse writers for making Big Mac into retarded big brother. There is no excuse also for complete lack of Celestia episode for two seasons. STUDIO B GET YOUR SHIT STRAIGHT!

And if negative comments and criticisms are so intolerable to you, maybe you should not read Them? Just saying.

    45. This episode took me four hours to watch for the first time. I had to keep pausing it because Pinkie's voice hurts my ears.

Pinkie Pie has always been my least favourite of the mane 6, but this episode actually made me hate her. I seriously kept wanting to punch her on multiple occasions.

Come to think of it, I think it's easy to draw parallels between Pinkie Pie in this episode and those annoying pushy religious people who go on and on and on about crap which makes no sense and seem to think they're doing you a favour. No you're not, you're just annoying me and giving me a headache.

I think Cranky Doodle Donkey showed remarkable restraint around Pinkie. Lesser men would have turned violent.

    49. Boy am I late. I was out of town for a week, and I'm probably going to be moving soon. I was tired as Hell and really quite depressed when I got back to my house. Then I remembered that I missed the episode of Ponies on Saturday.

I just finished watching it. While I am still very tired, and will likely fall asleep before my pizza gets here, I am happy now.

This was a good episode. Not particularly deep or moving, and not as memorable as the last few episodes, but I can honestly say I was smiling every moment of the entire show.

    50. I know it’s a little late (only hours before the next episode) but I really wanted to say this: I never thought an episode centering on Pinkie Pie could do justice to her character. See, she’s great at explosive entries and epic randomness. But as seen in “Feeling Pinkie Keen,” it seems harder to keep up that explosive vibe when you keep her onscreen. I’m no animation buff, or screenwriter, or artist of any kind; but I figured that doing an episode that keeps that “Pinkie awesome” going for the full show would be very taxing on the creators. They pulled it off however, and I just want to give kudos to the creators of the show for doing the “impossible”. Shows how much I know!
