Looks like the extended theme has popped up on Youtube. Apparently Kmart gave out the Friendship Express DVD early, at least that's what people have been telling us all day. You might want to check your nearby stores if they are still open.
Enjoy the puns!

I feel depressed at the fact that the real world can never compare D:
ReplyDeletethis isn't an extended version this is an alternate opening if it was an extended version it would have included all that was in the short theme somewhere in this one and there was no... "Big adventure, tons of fun, a beuatiful heart, faithful and strong, sharing kindness, its an easy feat, and magic makes it all complete!"
ReplyDeletewhich is a big part of the orginal short theme.
I liked it. Cheesy puns are magic.
ReplyDeleteI loved it. I like the way it sounds more like the S1 intro than the S2 one.
ReplyDeleteIT'S BEAUTIFUL! :D
ReplyDeleteits just very awesome, its like Twilight finally got her own song
ReplyDeleteso awesome~
Ohhh nooooez! Earwooooorm! XD
ReplyDeleteYawn...boring. Not a big fan of the intro to begin with, so...yeah.
ReplyDeletePuns felt forced and were incredibly cringe-inducing.
Oh, and the fact that it wasn't sung by Tara or her singer VA ruins it as well. (just like the re-dubbed RD in the edited derpy scene)
ReplyDeleteBest song ever "My Little Pony"
ReplyDeleteit's cool!
ReplyDeleteThe puns were to much for me. But its cool to see it though
ReplyDelete"When danger makes me want to hide,
ReplyDeleteyou'll Rainbow Dash to my side"
A pun shouldn't be allowed to sound this epic. I love Rainbow Dash.

ReplyDeleteSeriously, the way they worked in the names is the exact kind of thing that would normally make me yearn for the sweet embrace of a gasoline fire, but I LOVED it here. FiM really has a knack for taking various tropes that are guaranteed to make me retch, and somehow getting them so very right, that not only I don't mind some, but others I just straight-up enjoy.
ReplyDelete@Kaijyuu
ReplyDeleteyou are not alone about tearing up, this is so beautiful
I must admit, I rather liked the puns. :D
ReplyDeleteI think they should fit this whole theme into the pilot of every season. Isn't that what most shows do? They put the extended theme in the first episode then the shortened one in all the rest?
what Puns? That was just a cute song about some awesome fillies. O_o
ReplyDeletePuntastic! MUST GET!
ReplyDeleteFor those who miss the other Mane 6's lines, I re-spliced them in, as best I could. I also added the arpeggio back.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-75UT7iNXQA
If someone wants to edit the video to put that together with this, that would be awesome.
ummm i relay liked its mane....
ReplyDeleteI wub all the puns and it was fun to spot the parts that stayed for the opening
ReplyDeletePUNS! PUNS EVERYWHERE!
ReplyDeleteAnd I notice a lack of 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA'
I like how, in the song, they admitted that Pinkie Pie was easy.
ReplyDelete/shot
That was actually quite clever. It would make a good closing for the season.
ReplyDeleteThat song will have a hard time being translated in other languages like the short version were.
ReplyDelete"You'll Rainbow Dash to my side"
ReplyDelete-puts glock to forehead-
I especially like how they combined the line "what a wonderful suprise" with "Pinkie Pie" : http://ponibooru.413chan.net/post/view/139044

ReplyDeleteLook at all those PUNS!
ReplyDeleteFaaakkkkeeeeee
ReplyDeleteGAH! The puns! Now my brain sort of hurts. Not that these are particularly bad puns, mind you - some of them are fairly clever - but all puns make my brain hurt a little either way.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is nice, but still not as cool as the Italian opening. Then again, I suppose that's comparing apples to oranges. Totally different styles of music between the two. :\
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOuvraXpxCs
ReplyDeleteA chunk of this version of the opening was included with a twilight sparkle plush. This vid is from july.
Right on!
I would say this one needed all mane 6 to sing togheter..solo separately or togheter ! It gets to me quite strange that Twilight becomes too principal ( even if she started all ) just give her a fire demon story that is inside of her and the serial will be named Twilight Sparkle ( Naruto Reference ). This serial is about friendship...not about a egghead ( I needed a term )
ReplyDeleteCertified Dawesome... Can we get a fuller version?
ReplyDeleteOnce bitten twice Fluttershy
ReplyDeleteThat was amazing, and the terrible puns and complete cheesiness only served to make it even better! I love it.
ReplyDeletelol Pinkie Pie is easy.
ReplyDeleteCheesy, but I liked it, the puns were cute.
Had this on repeat for 2 hours...
ReplyDeleteErm...no thanks. Reminds me of G3 too much IMO
ReplyDeleteSo incredibly cheesy. But I still liked it, cause it's FiM. How can I not.
ReplyDelete*FANFILLY SCREEEEAAAAM*
ReplyDeleteThis just reminds me of this strip from Sluggy Freelance:

I don't know, ever since I've seen the italian opening, I find the regular one kind of wanting. Now, this one is a huge improvement over the short regualer opening and the puns are really awesome, but I feel it's still not quite as good as the italian one.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, it's a matter of personal taste, so each to his own.
The beginning part sounds a lot like the Pre-Gen My Little Pony intros even more. Either way, awesome extended intro. I love how it has a bit more relevance to Twilight Sparkle.
ReplyDeleteListening to it again, something just seems a bit.. off.
ReplyDeleteWell, they improved it from "unbearable" to "mildly amusing". I still like the Italian intro more.
ReplyDeletehaha awesome ^^
ReplyDeleteAs the Miz would say.. That was AWWWWESOME!! Can't WAIT to get my DVD! <3
ReplyDeleteSo... Much... Rainbows...
ReplyDeletethat was awesome
ReplyDeleteUm...wow. I was one of those people who could never stand to listen to this song when watching the show. But now...dammit all if I don't wanna sing along. This just brought a little warmth into my heart this morning.
ReplyDeleteNice, I actually liked it (especially compared to the regular intro). It was great in how it incorporated all of the main characters' names into the song.
ReplyDeleteHowever, in a way I feel like I'm too biased to judge whether it's good or not since I like the show so much.
But i want the whole season on blu-ray!!!!!! :(
ReplyDeleteBut i want the whole season on blu-ray!!!!!! :(
ReplyDeleteThose puns are glorious. i love this song *sets song on repeat*
ReplyDeleteIf its an extended version of the intro then why is 70% of the original lyrics not in it?
ReplyDeletethank you and please check out our other videos on maxpowers49. and please subscribe! Also to sum up questions about Derpy, they keep the original scene from the last roundup with Derpy on the friendship express DVD. they dont change her, she is still the Derpy that we all love!
ReplyDeleteTHE pun it BURNS
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteI no like it. I'd have to learn the new theme. Not happening. I've already learned one.
ReplyDeleteWow... Kind of goofy, but I liked it. :)

ReplyDelete"Once Smitten, Twice Fluttershy"....
ReplyDeleteThat's freaking AWESOME!
Why is it this reminds me of Winter Wrap-Up at certain points?
ReplyDeleteThe puns don't really do anything for me either way, though several of them are pretty awful. ("Applejack of my eye"?)
ReplyDeleteI'm not complaining about its existence, I just don't care for it and don't plan to listen to it again (same reason I skip the season 2 intro).
And listening to it through headphones will only improve the harmonics. Its not going to remove the mishmash editing I can clearly hear. (And its unlikely that it'd sound better than my expensive home theater system anyway.)
rebooting, too awesome
ReplyDeleteThanks for watching and please check out our youtube channel maxpowers49 and our other video and subscribe and eventually we will have more pony related videos. Also to sum up the subject of Derpy, we have the DVD and they still have the original scene from the last roundup with derpy, she is still the same Derpy that we love!
ReplyDeleteWell, that'll have to do in place of a new episode this week.
ReplyDeleteNever been a big fan of the main theme but this isn't bad.
Is it real? It sure doesn't sound like any of them and the quality was... er... lacking... and it wouldn't be the first time EQ had jumped the gun (Remember when they thought the Pinky Pie version of Being Popular was real?)
ReplyDeleteIf it is... wow... they did a terrible job. Sorry, but it's the truth, any audiophile will tell you the voices are inconsistent both from existing songs and within the song itself.
@Koji
ReplyDeleteEqD already were sent an advance copy of the DVD for review a while ago. They're the ones who announced the existence of the song on the DVD in the first place.
This is so awesome! *dashface*
ReplyDeletein some way, this is a winter wrap up song, if you listen closely
ReplyDeleteRight, that's it. I'm printing off the words to this and sticking them on my wall.
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest. The puns were hard to get through. Too campy for my liking. But otherwise... not bad.
ReplyDeleteIt is now cannon!
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie is easy!
Whoever wrote these lyrics should win the gold at the next Pun-Off.
ReplyDeleteoh god so many puns
ReplyDeleteMAKE ALL THE REMIXES!
ReplyDeletejust noticed, all of the scenes in the video are from the first two episodes and Over a Barrel
ReplyDelete@snowfi6916RRRRRRREREEEEEEEE EREREEERERERERERE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
ReplyDeleteBWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
@Al_Skylark
ReplyDeleteIt was not merely awesome...
IT.. WAS... SO.. AWESOME!!! *Dashface*
Okay, I have to say that was pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt grew on me after about a day. I knew it would, dern it. I love puns, in any case. At work today I repeatedly caught myself singing "once smitten, twice Flutter~shy!" Somepony said they were cringe inducing, but I find that is generally the consensus on puns as a whole. XD
ReplyDeleteAlso, any confirmation on how legit this is? As far as quality, lyrics, video, etc.? Has anyone gotten it here, who can say yay or neigh? (OOPSIE THERE I GO WITH THE PUNS AGAIN. >:D )
OH! This made my day! I've been waiting FOREVER for this! And the puns are awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit of a mixed bag - the puns are painful, and the accentuation of ma-GIC at the beginning is kind of annoying... yet the part from 0:22 to 0:42 is far better than any portion of the TV version (probably because it reminds me of Winter Wrap Up).
ReplyDeleteEh, color me unimpressed.
ReplyDeleteThis calls for one thing...
ReplyDeleteA MOVIE *SQUEE*
@Shadowed Rainbow
ReplyDeleteI actually posted a version of the extended theme that I was able to weave the original into.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CA3VVSAIIc
@WilliamPorygonI see what you did there.
ReplyDeleteIs it bad that I want to buy a bunch of these to give to my cousins and neighbor's kids? (girls that are actually in the main targeted demographic) lol!
ReplyDeleteHeh. I actually found this listenable after playing it a few times in a row over the weekend, but maybe that's just me. I could envision Twilight's burst of happiness and confidence in her new friends rather soundly, and I found myself smiling, if not chuckling outright, at the puns for Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. Overall, the song feels just about right to start this week for me.
ReplyDeletei kind of wish this was used as the actual intro
ReplyDelete@Eric CramerNo, you weren't the only one. Whenever I try to sing along to it, it always turns into Help!.
