I was sort of expecting a Fluttershy episode. I like Dash, but she's been my least favorite main pony this season. I guess poor Fluttershy will have to wait for an episode that centers around her.

Y'know, whenever anypony gets a turn in the spotlight, they usually end up humiliated and forced to learn a lesson. I think the writers are REALLY trying to teach Rainbow Dash humility by injuring her or putting her in other terrible situations. They probably thought Rainbow Dash had far little comeuppance for her arrogant behavior in the 1st season so they're trying to correct her flaws in this season. Basically, just because Rainbow gets a lot of episodes this season does not necessarily mean the writers are favoring her over the other Mane 5.

Well, I would say "Yay, another Dash episode!" But then I remembered I hated Mare Do Well and was kind of disappointed in May the Best Pet Win, so I'm not sure I want another Dash episode. Every single one of them thus far has been bringing Pinkie closer to toppling Dash as best pony.

Hey, misery builds character. And as much as I love Rainbow Dash, I'll be the first to admit she could use some more humility.

Not necessarily true. Also, there's a different between being tough and being invincible. Just because she can rainnuke a barn doesn't mean she's invincible. Remember the boulder in May the Best Pet Win? It's not too surprising that pegasus wings might be a little sensitive to weight or something.

Yes, that is very true too. I do try not to take the show too seriously (which is why I don't rage when an episode isn't all that grand) but even I'm prone to over-analyzing.

I don't think a perceived "lack of comeuppance" or trying to teach a character humility has anything to do with it. After all, Pinkie's still not answered for starting a war back in Over a Barrel and Twilight got off scot-free for that business with the doll in Lesson Zero. There are plenty of other examples like those as well, from all of them.

People have predicted this for every episode since the leak... one day it has to be right.
That plot sounds an awful lot like many of the "Dash breaks her wings" fanfics floating around the internet. I doubt we will have Twi-Dash moments that will lead to shipping stories, though you may never know. I really like this plot, and the fact that both episodes 16th of seasons 1 and 2 are dedicated to Dashie.

While Twilight *has* to be central to start Dash reading... I can't see it being only Twilight doing that.
For one, this otherwise just becomes "May the Best Pet Win", instead of Fluttershy, it's Twilight. Yes, I'd love to see more adorkable Twi going "you need a book to read?!!?!?!?!" and going genki over that, but Twilight's pretty much going to only have non-fiction (how-to books), boring stuff not only to pegasi but *incredibly* boring to Dash.
But it will likely be Twilight that starts the reading trend the other ponies will join in on, giving her books more akin to action and adventure suited to their own tastes, that gets Dash involved.

Country Applejack went and lived the cultured life in Manehatten as child, while image-obsessing Rarity has dunked her head in garbage for Pinkie, coated herself in mud for Sweetie Belle and cut off her own tail for a stranger. Honestly, for me it's harder to find easy examples for those two because they're already less one-dimensional than some of the other ponies.
I'm looking forward to some Dash-Twilight bonding too. They really haven't had any that I can recall. Dash has always treated Twilight with a bit of good-natured, teasing contempt (if there is such a thing... more amusing than offensive.)
Oh, this will be good. Hopefully it might pull some heart-strings (sic).
I'm hoping this will make up for Rainbow's characterisation in the past two RD centric episodes. She needs to project something more than just arrogant egoism to live up to her popularity. Interestingly, this is also directly opposite to Sonic Rainboom in the first season, so hope springs eternal for this season's Episode 16 to offer something new for RD as well. Call me interested.

I like to think that Dash was simply getting herself ready to perform. She has been known to completely lose it to stage fright (Sonic Rainboom), so perhaps her overly abrasive behavior then was her attacking her stage fright head-on.

I can already feel the tidal wave of fanart that this will inspire... yes, I'm a -little- bit disgruntled that we're not seeing a Fluttershy episode, but that's being neatly balanced out by the anticipation of an episode that'll raise my opinion of Dashie by a good few notches. She seems to be characterized mostly as an arrogant jerkass with a heart of gold nowadays... only the heart of gold is only occasionally shown. And, well, for that reason she's always been my least favorite of the Mane 6, because she tends to rub me the wrong way.
So where are the rest of the Elements' episodes? They haven't had one specifically for the Elements of Kindness, Laughter, or Honesty, and I thought that the Element of Loyalty had their episode? And of course my sister's apprentice is out of question since she not only had an early and memorable episode, but also has almost every other episode not dedicated to a single pony.

Dash's character is writtin to be the one who is always ready for fight. But you need to remember this is a kids show so they haft to incorporate that she is brave but also just a normal teenage(we believe) pony mare with flaws.

For one thing, she does things BESIDES the very flaws you mention. You're talking about her during her worst moments; this is about, I don't know, 10% of her screen time. Really, and I mean, really pay attention to her and you'll see her not do this plenty of times in other episodes.
For example, she never evens brags herself once in "Sweet and Elite". Nor did she really during "Return of Harmony".
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you're only paying attention to her during her worst moments and forgetting about all the times she doesn't act the way that way.
Also, every character, no, every PERSON will have their dumb moments. This is what it means to be human and even good characters aren't immune to this. Fluttershy stealing a royal bird or Twilight enchanting a doll due to stress, anyone?
Also, can you clarify, with specific examples, what you mean by "acting like a complete moron"? I hate it when people say blanket comments like that but never mention one specific moment. It's like making a "you momma is so fat" joke when the momma in question is actually quite thin.
