• DJ Alex S Trolled Off Youtube

Trolls have taken down Alex S' Youtube account after several takedown notices by obviously fake names.
Here's to hoping he can get that resolved- in the meantime, his new channel is here.

    1. I've noticed that bronies have something that most other fan communities lack and that thing is patience. We've been able to wait out the storms and preval. I have no doubt that this is nothing compared to past issues and what happened to alex was nothing more than a group of trolls. Trolls are upset with their sad, meaningless life and depend on the attention of those they "troll" to make it seem as though someone cares for them. So lets wait out these trolls, we'll prevail.

plus, have you seen these troll's youtube accounts?
and they think we're the losers. just wow.

    2. lol and when a troll is banned they are sent a video of the worlds smallest violin ROFL

    3. on the same note as 6f3... we should forget about this incident and remember our real roots and a really deep example of this is this story which i implore you to read http://www.ponychan.net/chan/arch/res/2511348.html

    4. haha as my friend would say to any attempt of getting a reaction from us "oooh can you hear that, it's the worlds smallest violinist playing the world's saddest song for you" XD

    5. Blargle, I really liked Alex S. Here's hoping he can get all this sorted soon.

    8. @MKC7162387

3 weeks without a new episode? Were you part of the fandom from last season? We've survived for several MONTHS without a new episode, and we'll do it again :D

In terms of youtube, we've been dealing with this for a long time. Not much new here (except for PA getting taken down, which may well end up leading to us seeing more DVDs of the show [I hope]).

    9. @Aullie96

How is this Hasbro? If it were, youtube would have said that they were getting copyright claims from Hasbro :P

    11. OK guys also that is NOT cereal's screen shot. Its Mine (TOM's) I broke the news about it on the midnight run Facebook page and then forward the info over. I just enjoy listening to ghost getting trolled

    14. Fun fact: DMCA abuse (including false claims like this) are serious crimes punishable by fines and jail time.

      ReplyDelete
    15. Well for specifics the troll group is known as the NCF (Can't remember what it stands for) an anti brony trolling group. They've already attacked DarkrazorZ who has been uploading all of these fun Ghost trolling sessions even though no direct pony videos were found he was attacked with false copyright claims as well.

All I will say is Love and Tolerance fellow Bronies/Pegasisters They'll get what's coming to em' :)

      ReplyDelete
    16. OH this is nothing yet !! wait until they get SOPA approved :s then everything we like will be destroyed. ... ... oh wait thats right... we survived 4chan. WE WILL BE FINE ^^

    17. Okay, having watched it a few times, here is how the process works, more or less. YouTube requires written legal notice, but has an online preliminary reporting system:

      * Obnoxious troll creates YouTube account (an account is required in order to use YouTube's online reporting system)
      * Obnoxious troll reports video using YouTube's online form
      * YouTube waits for written confirmation (2 weeks), but in order to avoid trouble with copyright holder (DMCA makes them civilly liable) they immediately pull the video, or shut down the channel.
      * Channel owner can file counterclaim, and in fact false claims are perjury, and punishable by fine and/or jail, BUT
      * Obnoxious troll account cannot be traced to a physical person, and so the only action YouTube can take is to ban their account, which was only created for the take-down strike anyhow.

TL;DR: F*** the trolls, but unfortunately there's very little that can actually be done.

      ReplyDelete
    18. For those thinking this might be legitimate, I'm 99% it's not.

Yes, Alex S uses samples from the show in a couple of his songs, however that's a very common thing musicians have been doing for a long time, some even selling albums without receiving permission from the owners of the sound samples.

If this was somehow Hasbro's doing, they wouldn't go after musicians for using a few 1sec long samples, and instead would have gone for the full episode releases on YouTube, which we know has not been the case.

Then there's of course the fact that this type of trolling by multiple 3rd party notifications is the same type used against Celtic Brony. It's a very exploitable system unfortunately.

YouTube does have a faulty copyright system, but the reason even a semi-legitimate copyright notification gets an immediate takedown, is if YouTube delayed the takedown by any number of days to research the claim first, then companies could sue YouTube for damages incurred during the time of the notification to the time of the actual takedown.

What makes me angry about the situation is instead of attacking an episode or clip uploader, the trolls decided to flag a legitimate account simply because a few of his uploads are related to ponies.

Considering Alex S's Nyan Cat dubstep remix was one of the most popular videos on YouTube, perhaps this trolling will anger those outside the fandom as well who enjoy his work.

    19. First they take our episodes! Now they take the PMVs!
      When will this nonsense stop?

      ReplyDelete
    20. Hey Youtube, did you know the word Gullible isn't in the dictionary?

      ReplyDelete
    21. We really need to move to another place other then YouTube.

If I had the Hub on TV, I'd put the episodes on my Blip.TV account.

      ReplyDelete
    22. >because they're goddamn communists

Retarded americunt detected, please die in a Fire.

      ReplyDelete
    23. lol Adolf Bush? are you kidding me youtube?
Make a new layout when its not even needed and the report system is horrible. Bravo!

      ReplyDelete
    24. @Masterge77 While I do think that would be cool if we could get it to work (and I would totally take advantage of it for my caption uploads), I don't know how we'd manage the logistics of such, especially since we've recently run aground of Hasbro legitimately on the issue of a dedicated site re: hosting episodes.

But if we can make it happen, I would love to get behind such.

      ReplyDelete
    25. It's annoying how YouTube doesn't give a crap about fair use laws, and will immediately take down things out of fear of a lawsuit without even checking them out

      ReplyDelete
    26. As it has been a million times more eloquently by other bronies:

      Don't feed the parasprites.

They claim copyright on a channel and take it down, we'll go through the system legally and put it back up. All the while, don't play their games.

They want us to fire back so they can laugh at our struggle. Don't give them that satisfaction.

      ReplyDelete
    27. @Michael Butcher They sort of have to. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act makes them liable to civil suit that could cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars for hosting content that they have been informed violates copyright. To avoid being sued out of existence, they err on the side of caution.

Trolls know this and they exploit it.

      ReplyDelete
    28. but honestly Adolf Bush do they honestly think someone exists with that name

      ReplyDelete
    29. Jewtube... And people wonder why I call it that.

      ReplyDelete
    30. @DXLelouch
Just did a quick search, it seems there was a Adolf Busch who died back in the 50's, so I guess it is perfectly possible there is an Adolf Bush/Busch/Bosch out there now. Unlikely, but still possible. Plus Youtube didn't have much of a choice anyway, there are quite a lot of people out there with unusual names like that.

      ReplyDelete
    31. YouTube does have an option to refute copyright claims. Obviously since these are fake, it would be easy enough to get his video back up without needing to resort to violence. If Alex S doesn't know already, let him know that he can refute the claims, since his work is legitimate, and obviously those trolls are just jelly

      ReplyDelete
    32. then that persons parents need to be sent to the moon for naming someone that

    34. I'm like a communist Brony, and I didn't liked the statement up there ._. , really, it wasn't cool...

      ReplyDelete
    35. I'm not sure which is worse... The fact that Youtube obviously didn't check anything and banned the account, or the fact that youtube assumes they're always right and doesn't have a specific email/messaging system meant for claims that they screwed up.

What that points out to me, is that youtube assumes that its always right... without checking videos even...

      ReplyDelete

I wish we could join you in that optimism, but love and friendship only go so far with those who truly wish to destroy what you love.

      ReplyDelete
    38. "Adolf Bush"?

      Yeeaaah, I'm not buying it.

      ReplyDelete
    39. This is no more than a minor nuisance. Don't the trolls realize how many SECONDS it takes to create a new account and repost the songs?

      ReplyDelete
    40. All offended communists should go to North Korea and cry to their hero Kim Jong Il. Oh wait, he is dead. Well, take a trip there anyway, nobody will miss you much.

Anyway, this once again proves how shitty Youtube's reporting system is. Even after a few high-profile videos got taken down they didn't fix it.

      ReplyDelete
    41. @TheBigCupODirt
Mhm. Come on, we cannot allow trolls to get us down. He cannot allow our morals to be compromised in this, not even for one post! We must stand united. We must continue our fandom unimpeded. Hatred is unbecoming of us. We must use but one tactic to war these insults. For, in the words of Doctor Okeer: "The greatest insult an enemy can suffer. To be ignored."

      ReplyDelete
    42. @Timofei
First and foremost, neither North Korea, nor Russia, nor Cuba, nor China, nor any other civilization has ever been communist. They are all dictatorships using Communism as a false title, since "dictatorship" or "tyranny" do not sound all that much fun. The closest we have gotten to a communist government was Lacedaemonia, but even that was merely a monarchy. But, all of this is besides the point. Your hatred and disregard for your fellow bronies is most unwelcome.

      ReplyDelete
    43. The DMCA continues its legacy of better safe than sorry takedowns. We really need congress to redo copyright law if we want sites to actually chekk out the notices they get.

      ReplyDelete
    44. By the way, not to be annoying or anything, but the whole 'communism=evil' thing is kinda funny considering one of the top PMVs of November was Russian Dancing Ponies.

      Just sayin'.

      ReplyDelete
    45. Thats a bunch of bullshit but i still find Adolf Bush hilarious.

    47. List of trolls who took down AlexS

      http://www.youtube.com/user/Silver666Ninja

      http://www.youtube.com/user/Warvancrusade

      http://www.youtube.com/user/MrNogacto

They're all part of a group that calls themselves 'Niggest Crook Force (NCF)'. It's really quite pathetic that just because they don't like MLP and bronies, they think that gives them the right to take down the videos all together.

So anyway love and tolerate the sh*t out of their youtube pages! :D

      ReplyDelete
    48. Here's hoping everything gets sorted out. I love Alex's vids!

      ReplyDelete
    49. Im going to laugh when these "trolls" get a warrent for their arrest for filing false copyright claims. They can trace the ip address from the accounts.

      ReplyDelete
    50. THIS is why anti-piracy is BS. They don't do any harm to actual pirates but kill everything good in the crossfire.

      ReplyDelete
    51. Oh yeah, multibillion for-profit company as a communists. You really show a bad image of US education here.

      ReplyDelete
    52. Hope Alex gets it all sorted out asap.
Tbh its just pretty damn sad, 'Niggest Crook Force (NCF)? Rofl. Honestly is this the pinnacle of their life is to sit around on Youtube trying to close down accounts? Bless them for thinking they are being "cool" on the interwebs.

      ReplyDelete
    53. How does that even work, anyway? I'm pretty sure the only one who can holler "Copyright abuse!" is Ingram himself, and not only has he given remixers his blessing, he's actually REQUESTED a remix once.

      ReplyDelete
    54. Unrelated to all that discussion, does the filename for the post's image seem a bit... off to anyone else?

      ReplyDelete
    55. "The fandom" may never be beaten, but he wouldn't be the first artist set back by a string of account deletions.

      ReplyDelete
    56. Really guys, what's up with the communist vs non-communist bickering?

A few months ago there was a nightly roundup post featuring a clip from the christian TV network with the title, "Is My Little Pony Satanic?"

I cringed when I scrolled down to the comments, but that quickly went away when I saw nearly every single religion and belief, including atheists and agnostics, getting along, respecting eachother's beliefs, and in the entire 300+ comments or so, NOT A SINGLE religious argument resulted.

Anywhere else on the internet would have resulted in a nasty religious flame war, but not with bronies.

Lately I've seen many bronies getting more vocal and nasty in their replies, not just to trolls, but as evidenced here, even to their fellow bronies.

That is unacceptable. These are the holidays, and we should be enjoying time with our families, and eachother. It's simply unfortunate that the big troll backlash is occurring during this part of the year, but let's not stoop to the level of those trying to make us unhappy.

So take the time to remember the Hearth's Warming Eve episode. It's symbolic with this situation in so many ways it's downright creepy, but we aren't following the wisdom in it.

The parasprites are feeding off our frustration. They want us to lash back at them, to report them, to attack their websites, and to bicker against eachother. They want to prove that we're just like them, to bring us down to their level, and it's starting to work.

However, if you want to truly defeat these parasprites:

      Don't attack their websites.
      Don't flag their own videos.
Don't acknowledge them, and don't argue with them.

Our biggest weapon has been our own elements of harmony.

Honesty - We are true to our selves and to others.

Generosity - Smile! Christmas Charity Album. HumbleBundle. BronyPatches. Bronies give to the community for their enjoyment and expect nothing in return.

Kindness - We don't hate anybody. We can get frustrated, but we show respect and kindness to the haters, regardless of what they do, and that kindness is unwavering.

Laughter - Parodies, comics, memes, etc. The Brony Show, Brony Movie Night, and the show itself. We don't attack the haters, we laugh at how silly they are.

Loyalty - We do not abandon our friends. We support those who have been trolled. We let them know we've got their back, but most importantly, WE DO NOT argue or attack our own.

Magic - We're the odd balls of the internet, simply because we were spawned from the most cynical place on the internet, and yet have flourished everywhere whilst remaining non-confrontational and tolerating of others. That in itself, is magic.

The choice is yours fellow bronies. You can continue to argue amongst yourselves and stoop down to the troll's level by lashing out at them in retaliation, or you can take a deep breath, watch the first couple episodes again, and embrace the elements of harmony that keep this fandom strong!

      ReplyDelete
    57. "Adolf Bush" OH COME ON
Seriously, youTube is owned by google now and they still can't get their act together.

      ReplyDelete
    58. Why do I feel like this is the work of Ghost? He put Alex on his s*** list after all for getting music spammed on the radio, and he hates bronies to death.

      ReplyDelete
    59. Can't he file a lawsuit against YouTube for allowing them to use his name against him?

      ReplyDelete
    60. Left Communism isn't such a bad ideology, in my opinion.

Woah, the things we're talking about.

Also... finding... hard... to... love... and... tolerate...

Gosh darn it, this is like a Communist putting up with a fascist.

      ReplyDelete
    61. @Raven
It's just a joke. Come on now.

Also, about that whole "love and tolerance" thing. There's a degree of that lesson within the show. But I think there's a limit to how much turning the other cheek is preached.

My personal feelings on these sorts of things are kinda that of Rainbow Dash instead of Fluttershy.

      ReplyDelete
    62. @JRusz.coG

Oh, he's probably just mad because Pinkie sang a song about laughing at him. It's honestly sad that people have nothing better to do than mess with other innocent people. I'm a Sonic fan, and I'm not too fond of the fandom, but I don't attack them like some little boy and throw a temper tantrum when I don't get my way.
Ahem, long rant aside, I will remain loving and tolerant and see how the trolls like that.

      ReplyDelete
    63. @YabusameLuna
It's not funny, mostly because it doesn't make any sense.

      ReplyDelete
    64. Okay now I'm pissed.

      ReplyDelete
    65. I really don't like some of the copyright claims on Youtube, and how much of its real. I can understand that, if someone uploads an entire movie or TV series, that it can be taken down. What does make me tick is when a video is taken down for including copyrighted media that was free and/or public anyways. For example, I made a PMV for Nightmare, and, when I uploaded it, it was blocked for copyright reasons with WMG, because it used parts of the original video. The thing is that they aren't losing any money or traffic by me uploading it. And obviously, I didn't get written permission, as is "required" by Youtube, since 30 other people used the same song for a PMV, and I don't think the legal department of publishing companies spends all their time writing out letters to people so they can use their song with My Little Pony.

Basically, if its meant for money, then fine, its perfectly reasonable to block it. If its a free, public-domain video and noone besides the original publishers take credit, it shouldn't matter.

      ReplyDelete
    66. You should be ashamed, trolls. Making fun of bronies is one thing, we can shrug it off. But when you attack good music, regardless of what it is related to? There is a very special place in hell for people like you.

      ReplyDelete
    67. I bet these trolls won't find any brony channels to take down... on the MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

.... But in all seriousness, I hope this gets worked out soon. 'Cause Alex S is one of my favorite artists. And he's awesome. c:

      ReplyDelete
    68. @Raven
That's odd, things that don't make sense are often supposed to be funny.

In this case, anyway though, it's an imitation of someone who often... oh, nevermind, the culture in the joke is too difficult to explain.

It's obviously not supposed to make exact, literal sense, it's a joke. And in this case possibly satirizing the stereotypical right wing American that calls everything it doesn't like Communist(like Barack Obama).

      ReplyDelete
    69. Guys, I'm sure Adolf Bush is a totally legit dude who just wants to save the Internet from copyright infringement... or something.

      ReplyDelete
    70. not sure if anyone saw but party cannon by the living tombstone got taken down by ELECTRONIC ARTS.

      ReplyDelete
    71. Yeah, EA Sports must be working on a My Little Pony version of Madden for next year. Huh. I didn't even know they had the copyright now.

      ReplyDelete
    72. @Bill

Fake names are easy to create. You use some public terminal or wi-fi spot, make a quick account, troll, and then leave with no one the wiser.

By the way, this is a perfect example of how SOPA would have been used by anyone with the incentive to shut down legitimate sites. The government would inevitably never be able to check the authenticity of the all the complaints, and sites would drop like flies until enough lawsuits and (inevitably) Supreme Court action get the law repealed years later.

      ReplyDelete
    73. oi, am i the only one a LITTLE thrown off by all the hostility being shown around here?

Ponyarchive goes down, and they flip the hell out.
AlexS loses his channel (a dam shame mind you) and cereal calls youtube a bunch of communists.

Love and tolerate guys, seriously. i don't want this fandom to go down because we suddenly freak out hasbro or insult the wrong thing.

We are lucky to have the support we're being given. and i just want to watch ponies and read fics, without fear of this site, or any of the others; going down because we bit the hand that feeds.

      anyways, thats my two cents

    82. YouTube needs to start looking into these reports a little more.Hasbro has stated many times that they will not take down the any MLP YouTube videos because it helps boost the popularity of their show.YouTube believes these fake reports from trolls too often and it's strait up annoying.

Even if it was reals it would make more sense for Hasbro to take down the full episodes first instead of some fan music with some voice clips from the show in them.

    98. I find it outrageous that a YouTube is actually allowing such harassment to go on their website. This just seems unprofessional for them to accept false copyright claims to hurt innocent users on their website.

    99. These trolls have nothing better to do than sit around and be fat lazy @$$holes that bring misery to all that they find to be different.

All we have to do is continue to love and tolerate the shit out of them, and they really will eventually give up, then again knowing the internet that will never happen.

    100. Trolled Alex off Youtube just cause he's a brony, sad. Glad he's back, his remixes are awesome.

    101. Swear to god, youtube needs to actually screen the infringement claims.

They're the only ones that actually get the video taken down right away too...

I have flagged MANY MANY fake videos.

The rick roll and Tourettes Guy both actually violate the ToS (for very similar reasons).

Because let's face it, Tourettes guy is an obvious fake trolling people who ACTUALLY HAVE Tourette's Syndrome.

If he actually DOES have Tourette's, then he's still a *hole for making us look bad.

    102. He's back already. What else could we expect? I mean, the name of one of the trolls was Adolf Bush.

Adolf Fucking Bush. I'd say he's more at fault than our beloved DJ Alex S.
