The Desktop Ponies app we all know and love has been recoded in Javascript. For those unfamiliar with what this means, it means that the app in its entirety is now embeddable in a website. As an example, I've taken the Javascript code from the creator and pasted it after the page break- if you click past it, you'll be covered in ponies, so, you've been warned.

I know that they can follow each other at least. Spike and Sweetie follows Rarity, Bonbon follows Lyra and Scootaloo follows Dash. I can only assume they can interact in other ways as well.

Awesome. However right when I started typing Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Twilight all came over and stood (or in Twilight's case studied) on the text area.
Pinkie Pie is the only one that looks right at you when you pick her up.... also her hooves dangle too... so cute!
I played around with them for like five minutes, half paying attention, and the whole time I thought there were two Rainbow Dashes for some reason.
Then I realized one wasn't moving and remembered that Seth put one in the header. Duh.
@Apollo Breeze What browser do you use? I only tested with Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox (on Linux). And a tiny bit in IE 8 (in a VirtualBox Windows XP), but I have no intentions to really support that nightmarish browser.
Fluttershy was stalking Twilight.

@GaruuSpike You can put it on any website you want using the bookmarklet. You have to click the bookmarklet every time you click a link, though. (Only a browser add-on could change this.)

I think these ponies are broken. When I drop one of the others on Rainbow Dash, no shipping occurs.
@Sins Of Hope Someone made Java Ponies (linked on the Desktop Ponies webpage). This *should* also work on Linux, but because of crappy support for transparent/translucent windows in Java+Linux it caused slowdowns, flickering and crashes for me. (Linux *does* support translucent windows very well, but Java does not understand this and uses the crappy old fallback method for shaped windows.)
However, Java Ponies works well on OS X (they say). I never tested it though. (As I said, I use Linux... and dualboot Windows for games only (Portal!).)
Btw. I added a bookmark menu download. You can import this bookmark file to get a menu that allows you to add particular ponies to a webpage. it also includes the start/stop/pause/resume/remove all ponies controls.

For all of you asking about adding a pony button to the site: That's great and all, but if you go to the link up in the post, you can choose settings and get a Bookmarklet (plus a few control ones), which will allow you to put ponies on ANY PAGE ON THE INTERNET.

Just a word of info for anyone that hasn't downloaded the offline version yet - it works much more fluent then (at least for me these java ones stutter a tiny little bit, while when I run them thru my .exe they're fine no matter how many of them I put out (and they consume pretty little amount of memory while active - they should be even old-computer friendly I think (and I'm thinking about the '99 kind of old)).
ALSO - you can customize their animations, which means that you can also edit chances of given behavior and the time (min - max) that the pony will spend doing it (e.g. sleeping or reading - I've got all my ponies re-edited to sleep more rarely (with like 1% chance instead of 5%) and generally longer (not, like, 10-60 seconds, but 30 to, say, even 300 (they're super-cute while asleep anyway ;)). Also my version of Twilight has been re-edited to accompany my studying, so she has drastically increased stats for her ,,reading a book" animation.
...and there's also the option to make them play hoofball or tennis - funny thing with that being the fact, that you can actually take control of them then and make an improvised two player duel :).
Soooo - for anyone still possessing any doubts - this app is generally well worth it and nicely modifiable.
...and yes, Pinkie does seem to like this text-edit windowy thing exceptionally ;p

In the download link he put near the bottom, he forgot to add the "ponies" folder. There aren't any images for the ponies I tried to load! Derp.

^ If you downloaded the .zip file he provided, these are all the files you should've gotten.
If you click on the ponies/ folder, you'll end up looking at the folders of the pony graphics. I think you'll have to download the files one by one, so I only did the ones I wanted.

@banannagram I intentionally not included them. I didn't make them. They are just from desktopponies.co.cc, where you can download them. The zip only contains the source. It's an automatically updated checkout from the mercurial repository.
However, because of demand I added a second zip with the images as well now. Because I did do one change: I fixed the file names so they work on a case sensitive file system (i.e. the web).

Yeah, it happened right away so I didn't know that at the time. I know JS can detect scrolling and wasn't sure which events the ponies would respond to. Lesson learned!
@null Actually I don't detect scrolling in JavaScript but just use the CSS property "position: fixed" to let the browser handle this. :)
