Once again FiM completely throws that idea out the window. Maybe it's another reason why it's so amazing? The Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rarity all worked on season two doing layout/posing (Holding back my envy right now), and Pinkie Pie is friends with the Fluttershy (even more envy).
They also dragged someone along who dressed up as Spike. Apparently hes a professional break dancer or something!
They wanted me to let everyone know that they love the fans, and they will be scanning the comments so feel free to send them ENDLESS AMOUNTS OF PRAISE!

ReplyDeleteIt really is nice to see animators and crew members who actually are passionate enough about what they crafted to, not only willingly cosplay as the characters whose antics and exploits they helped build, but to share their experience with us humble fans of what they created.
ReplyDeleteI think that the crew being so open and conscientious toward their fans is what helped build my personal interest in discussions and participation in the show's fanbase. Between that and Hasbro's explicit indifference toward the user-based YouTube uploading, remix culture, and fan works, it's nice to see an Internet phenomenon that's virtually unprecedented in how it started and how it grew exponentially no more than 10 months later. Seeing you all enjoying yourselves as the show's main characters is, again, refreshing and entertaining.
Maybe I'm blowing it all out of proportion, but to see crew members of a cartoon show who seemingly enjoyed their work and consider themselves just as much of a fan of the show as, well, the FANS, it's rather inspiring and optimistic. Keep being awesome!

It's hard not to repeat what others have said, but, on the other hand, it should be repeated. Thank you. Thank you for actually caring about your work. And congratulations on making thousands and thousands of people love a franchise they would have been embarrassed to be even remotely associated with only a year ago. With any luck, Hasbro/The Hub will continue to give you the resources you need to make a wonderful show for years to come (and not cut you off arbitrarily like some other nameless networks might have done).

Wow ^_^ They really went out of their way to put a lot of detail into the costumes and their poses! All of them turned out so well and the girls really seem happy to play the parts of our favorite ponies (and Spike too). The pictures of Spike on his knee, AppleJack "apple bucking", and Fluttershy feeding the pigeons were just perfect. I loved how Rarity even had her red glasses and that Pinkie Pie had cupcake socks. Great job, Fillies and dragon!

For the placeholder work, does that mean you have actually done the lines of some the main cast characters for when they couldn't schedule a certain VA they normally need and you are just acting as voice for one of the other main actors to play off of?

ReplyDeleteWow guys, thanks for the love!! I was Rarity, it's probably the most work I've put into a cosplay. I made Spike's costume too (we're dating!!), but he made his awesome shoes. He wants you to know that he's not Mexican and is embarrassed by all the "professional breakdancer" comments (but it's all true). I play a bit of ukulele, we printed out the awesome new songbook (http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/08/season-one-chord-book.html) and had a sing-along on the hill with the pony's and one velvety-voiced brony.

Okay.. so like one day, at magic camp.. Seth and I came upon Trixie behind the dining hall. It was so hot out.. you could fry an egg on the sidewalk. Well, Trixie.. she found the hose and was cooling herself off with it. Man, she looked soooo fine all dripping wet like that. So, before she could run away, Seth jumped her and held her down, making sure she couldn't scream for help as he unzipped and stuck it in her face. 'Take this hose, bitch!' he said as I slipped in behind her and....

I'm usually not a fan of cosplays based off the FiM characters, but these are genuinely good. Great job on them!

I have a friend who is an animator with Nickelodeon and he's told me a few times he feels like he's almost "not allowed" to watch the shows he works on. Like its something you do late at night so nobody knows about it. I've never understood why its so embarrassing and apparently neither does he.

If the creators are enjoying MLP so much, then it's wonder that it enthralls and delights so many thousands of us...it makes sense that their enthusiasm would come through and infect the viewer! Those pictures are awesome. The costumes, the poses...they look amazing! And gotta love break-dancer Spike. :O Wow. I too am jealous, but more than that, I'm impressed and happified. Where does the greatness of ponies and their bloody awesome makers end?! (Hopefully nowhere...!)
Nice...as others have said, it's awesome to see an animation crew into their work enough to do something like that (I can't think of any other studio that would do something like this without being specifically paid for it).
