• Equestria Has Microwaves

    Source: Richfiles
In the 40 dollar Canterlot Luna playset, a few very..strange things can be found in the background, including this microwave.

Yes, Equestria does in fact have Microwaves.  It looks like progress wasn't too far off.

Uhh, right.  Back to the nightly update! It's almost done.

    9. Confound these ponies, they drive me to insomnia...

Mostly because a lot of times I wait for the Nightly Round Up.

      It's currently 5:08 am here.

      SETH YOU DRIVE ME INSANE.

      Oh and about the article.

I'd trade that microwave for an abacus, personally...

    14. Part of me wants to think that this is a shout out to us the they convinced Hasbro to put in.
      But it's probably just coincidence.

      ReplyDelete
    15. I'll believe it when I see Luna buried under a mountain of baseballs in the next playset.

      ReplyDelete
    16. I do not count the toys as canon. Maybe that is just me.

      ReplyDelete
    17. In during everypony mentioning that awesome fic.
But I am guessing this is either coincidence or Hasbro is a giant troll to Luna.

      ReplyDelete
    18. Crazy... a month ago I was whining like Rarity that Hasbro didn't have a Luna toy... Now there are THREE DIFFERENT VERSIONS of her! Fashion, Brushable, and OH MY GOD SHE'S EXPENSIVE Shine Brite (with microwave in a cardboard box).

I really wanted to get that Shine Brite Luna... I want to mod her already, but It's so FREAKING EXPENSIVE for that set of ridiculous crap and a certain pink pony BUT WITH GLITTER OMG!

I do hope they eventually release a Shine Brite Luna in an individual pack, because this throwing everything INCLUDING THE KITCHEN SINK (visible in the image, btw) in a cardboard box you can TIE shut and calling it Canterlot Castle... Yeah... That's pretty ridiculous. If this had been a plastic castle... Maybe that cost would be justified.

I'll probably pass all the useless crap on to my brother's little girls (WHAT! Girls watching our manly show!!!). Maybe then it'll get used or something.

Regardless... I want to swap out that plain glittery horn with a Shine Brite horn, and swap the LEDs out with violet LEDs (red LEDs are so 1976). Then her horn AND wings will glow.

I personally think the microwave is pure coincidence, but I still laughed at the sight of it. I mean, this thing is ridiculous. there is a kitchen with an oven and fridge... a couple treasure chests with plastic gems. Some tables and various "fashionable" items. There is a telescope, that I can't even figure out what it clips to, and apparently one room looks like an observatory, as in a telescope is printed on the wall and it has windows. Woo. Twilight apparently has her own personal room, with photo's of all her friends. There are two larger rooms, I suppose the main hall and a throne room maybe... For Luna and Pinkie...

Also love how they gave us molded hair Celestia with RED wings (still pink of course) and a brushable Luna in the same package. I'd have loved a molded Luna, that was actually SHAPED CORRECTLY.

I also have a real abacus, and yes, I need to post photos of Luna with it. I'm going to make a small toy sized one with very tiny beads and wire, one of these days.

Luna tucking in Abacus while wearing socks... Best pony ever!

I will NEVER understand Hasbro. EVAR!

      ReplyDelete
    19. Oh yeah, and It was either the room that looks like Twilight, or the room that looks like an observatory I think, or maybe the room I forgot what it was. Regardless, also confirmed in the set's printed backdrop is a TV...

An APPLE shaped television, showing Pinkie Pie on the screen. Clearly Hasbro claims TV exists in Equestria, and it's playing a Pinkie Pie episode!

    20. If this is Luna, my butcrack is an elephant!

      ReplyDelete
    21. Part of me is telling me that this is more than likely caused by an artist who was told to "draw a kitchen" and didn't care about what was put in there, The more optimistic side of me is screaming that this is a Progress reference and that Hasbro reads good fan fiction. There has been references to us before and the first part of Progress is just old enough to get through the whole development process.

    22. I still do not know why ponies think I should be using an abacus. Do you know how hard it is to do higher calculations with those? Gaaa! Would be another thousand years before I got these Astrolabes corrected for everypony after fixing some of the stars into proper position. I love my sister but she just doesn't know how to do all the calculations for all the stars. She just was not shown how to do them. Not her fault ether...it was my duty. Now I am back doing it! Now if you will all just leave me to my calculations and my tea and mufff...Where is my Muffin? WHO TOOK MY MUFFIN?!

      ReplyDelete
    23. I think it's very possible to got official pony-themed abacus. Abacuses really helps to learn to count, as I remember.
But it's unlikely will be luna-themed abacus. But who knows?

      ReplyDelete
    24. The microwave and I have come to an agreement: so long as it doesn't try to scare me, I wont blow it up.

And Abby's seeing somepony else, but I'm fine with that. I'll always have you, Twilight.

And still no mention of the fact the Canterlot set comes with an egg carton and eggs in a pan.

      ReplyDelete
    25. I wish I could believe that this is a nod to the fandom, but frankly, I have a hard time of believing that Hasbro gives a rat's ass about us.

      ReplyDelete
    26. Here's the thing I wonder about.. why do "girl" toys like MLP include cardboard / flimsy plastic playsets, whereas "boy" toys like, well, everything else, come with hard plastic, durable as hell playsets? Is it REALLY because boys play rougher with their cars / figures etc. then girls, or just cheapness on the companies' side?

*recalls a childhood accident where a box of toys fell out a window and dropped more then 2 stories and was intact..*

      ReplyDelete
    27. No abacus? What a ripoff!

      ReplyDelete
    28. *stares at Luna's body*
looks like Equestria has bathing suits too.

      ReplyDelete
    29. I certainly hope that microwave is a shoutout. Even if it isn't, it's certainly a very happy coincidence. If I had 40 dollars of expendable income...It's a tad pricey. I guess for little kids and their parents, price isn't much of an issue.

...On a tangential note, does anyone know where I can stock up on seeds, tools, reverse-osmosis filters, tilapia eggs, and hand-crank generators in case we fall into a double-dip-recession-related apocalypse?

Home Depot doesn't have a wide enough selection.

      ReplyDelete
    30. There are electric fans so why not?

      ReplyDelete
    31. >LUNA Canterlot playset

      >has MICROWAVE

...yeah, I'm not buying that that's just a coincidence. We DO have proof that at least TWO development members browse fanfics... and enjoy causing "DANCE, PUPPETS, DANCE!!!" moments...

    32. You know what this means, right?

Pony Radiation. Crippling rays of brony beams fired from strange equestrian technology! THE HORROR! THE HORR-ORRRR!

    34. How would they push the buttons? Look at the size of their hooves! Same with their noses... I shudder to think that they'd use tongues...

    35. They also have, or rather HAD, atomic weaponry.

What, you thought sapient ponies were NATURAL?

    39. i imagine they had enough time to add the microwave in AFTER they read progress, kind of like they derped all of derpy's eyes after hearing about her

    40. In other news... Equestria has Hot Pockets? (freezers even?)

      ReplyDelete
    41. Luna vs the microwave joke for us bronies perhaps? I remember having seen that fanfic somewhere before - oh yeah, here.

      ReplyDelete
    42. I derped, I wanted Luna to face the microwave, but forgot that hasbro is too cheap to put the cutie mark decal on BOTH flanks. I see a time in the future where they will make ponies with only one good side, so they'll only need one eye... Then they'll start making half ponies, cause if you never look at the other side, then why do you need it?

      HAAASSSSBBBRRROOOOOOO!!!!!!!

      Progress.

    48. @Anonymous

      Boys are rougher.

I know there are exceptions to the rule, but I've spent my whole summer cleaning up after college kids, repairing the damage they do.

You can walk into a house, and just tell if guys or girls lived there.

If it was guys, there'd be two foot holes in the walls, beer, pop, and other strange fluids sprayed over the walls. Melted buckets on sidewalks, scorched porches, hookah coal burns on the carpet. And oh god the bathrooms! The horrors i've seen o.o

Girls houses, maybe replace a window wand, calk up some pin and nail holes, some touch up paint, and pull cousin it out of a drain every now and then.

Hmm i do hope this replies to the right comment above, and doesnt just add on the page.

    49. Umm, where are Luna's wings? I see no wings. Luna has wings. Where are they?

      ReplyDelete
    50. Oh there they are. They're easier to see in the enlarged picture.

    51. Ponibooru, Y U no page responding?

I go and take shots of the entire Canterlot Castle set, and the stupid site loads perfectly and then stops responding after a couple clicks.

Looking over the Canterlot Castle set, it's divided into 6 rooms. The large central room appears to be a throne room. There is a very 2D throne printed on the wall, with Princess Celestia plastered all over it. This room also opens into a draw bridge (secured closed by velcro). Above it appears to be a balcony or hall of some sort that has a printed chandelier, mirror, a window, and some banners or murals of some kind printed on the side walls.

One room (lower right) is the kitchen. Microwave is found there, obviously.

The lower left room has a small doorway, a welcome mat, and umbrella holder, a shelf (made from real cardboard), and photos of all of the mane 6, Spike, and Princess Celestia.

The last 2 rooms are interesting, and look to be possibly meant as the bedrooms for each princess. The right upper room has a Pink and Yellow motif, and bears a rather ornate image of Princess Celestia on a wall hanging, a photo of Spike and Twilight together, a Tea set on a table and a mirror.

The other room has Purple as the dominant color, with darker purple drapes and a light bluish purple wall. Both wall and drapes are plastered with 5 pointed stars (not Twilights 6 pointed star). There is a wall hanging that is covered in the various cutie marks that represent the Elements of Harmony, and of course the mane 6. In this room is a telescope pointed out a window, and a Television. Pinkie Pie is on the TV screen.

If I can ever get Ponibooru to work on my computer, I'll try to upload images...

      ---

I recall one more detail from the Progress series... Luna vs Ponyville Part 1: TV... Luna ends up watching TV at Pinkie's place. Luna freaks out when Pinkie Pie enters the room with kitchenware and a cupcake pan after she stumbles upon a horror movie about a murderous Pink pony who just likes to make cupcakes... Why would Luna have a TV in her room with Pinkie Pie on the screen?

I insisted on pure coincidence before, but this has now been upgraded to suspiciously odd in my head.

Update, the site finally worked. Here are photos of the TV, Microwave, and the overall view.
