ReplyDeletePardon my meanieness, but this is really getting old. Why can't we have a more original Cross-Over, like Halo, or F.E.A.R.?
I would be content with the fact that so far all the stories on this site largely maintain a great degree of quality. Let people write what they want to and like, and if you want something new, WRITE IT. Thank you. Now, on to read the actual story :D

ReplyDeleteDr. Who works well with MLP becuase they are both science-soft, light-hearted shows that manage to steer clear of being childish :D

ReplyDeleteBecause HALO sucks in it's genericness, and we already have Cupcakes. Hell, Bioshock would be easly better by leagues, but would not be done because so many people have rageboners for Jay Naylor by association.
ReplyDeleteHey, hey, hey, don't put down the Whovians. Pretty much any crossover is good, provided that Equestria's entire history isn't based off of the canon of the other universe. I'm writing a bunch of stuff and ideas are wonderful things to have.

I only recently started watching Doctor Who (last night, actually, when I discovered it was OnDemand). Saw the first three episodes of series five. With each episode I saw, I became an even bigger fan. Now the Doctor is that much more awesome as I read the fics he's in here.

ReplyDelete@ 1st anon(shit theres alot of anons) A FEAR crossover seems hard to pull off, either its ponified and includes the mane6 or a freak wormhole that alma creates sucks in pointman and hes teleported to equestria and the shit hits the fan afterwards(NO FEAR 3 TIE-IN)

People write Fanfics about topics they like.
If somepony likes FEAR and writes a Fanfic about it, good for you.
And i am sure busy, old Seth wouldn't be too busy so he had to decide to either post a Doctor Who or a FEAR Fanfic.
Just don't expect somepony who likes Doctor Who to write a FEAR Fanfic.
I'm actually marathonning the new series of Doctor Who this month. Just saw Voyage of the Damned. Holy crap, can David Tennant act.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, someone else hit the nail on the head as to why there's so many Doctor Who crossovers: its tone fits with MLP surprisingly well. It tells outlandish tales full of adventure, but never forgets to have a laugh at itself along the way. But it also knows that you can laugh at yourself and still make a great show.
Whereas Halo and FEAR are equally ridiculous, but take themselves far too seriously. Halo's story is basically a giant pile of overused sci-fi cliches assembled by people who think they're writing Shakespheare. That kind of attitude doesn't really work well unless you're going to fill your story with grimdark OC's.

ReplyDeleteThe reason Halo and FEAR don't get fanfics is because there's no background pony who looks like Master Chief or...whoever the main character of FEAR is. Johnny Fear? I'm going to pretend it's someone named Johnny Fear. He's a goth rocker from 1953. He's anachronistic and loving it!
But anyway, Doctor Whoof is the only BG pony who resembles someone from another TV show, so of course that TV show is going to get more crossovers. So if you want more FEAR stories, go ask Hasbro to make Johnny Fear canon. And to pay me for the idea.

ReplyDeleteWhile I have long appreciated Dr Who, I was at first skeptical about the plethora of crossovers that seem to have popped up... but, oddly, it makes sense! The shows both have an air of innocence and discovery about them.
Also, its incredibly cool to see the doctor trying to make sense of the Equestrian way of being: Celestia's parting gift, and the Doctor's response, was a lovely touch!
Well Done! Excited by the possibility of a follow-up...
