• Discussion: What Kind of Pony Game Would You Prefer?

There have been plenty of fake game screens and pictures floating around for a while now.  What kind of game would YOU prefer to play a pony in?

    Genre Ideas:
    MMORPG
    Western RPG (Open World-Oblivion)
    Japanese RPG (Linear Story-Final Fantasy)
    2D Fighter
    3D Fighter
    RTS
    Shooter
Platformer (My personal pony dream game, Ratchet and Clank style!)

    1. MMORPG or Western RPG. I can't see it being anything else.
WRPG would be my first choice though.

    2. I'd really like to see a ponified Magicka. Making your way through Nightmare Moon/Luna's subconscious and destroying the evil within by combining the Elements of Harmony would be awesome.

Also, a ponified Aquaria would be gold. Just not actually underwater with sea ponies. Although a good Aquaria type game could be just what sea ponies need.

I freaking loved Aquaria. That's a pretty amazing suggestion there.

      Hell, they all are.

    4. Anything, but a Smash Brothers-style fighting game would probably be my first choice.

    5. A Fallout: Equestria mod!

    6. I honestly would like it to be Multi-player so I can play with other bronies. I think Multi-player games are the best! Also that way its a little less "scripted" or planned out. More random when actual people are playing. :D

      I think you mean:

      "Git back here, ya varmint!"

    8. I think a racing game would probably suit the pony theme well. Something Mario Kartish. But on foot, of course.

    9. Japanese RPG, just because I'm a total Squenix whore.

      ReplyDelete
    10. ^ ...but my second choice would be a platformer game.

    11. japanese rpg all the way, :)

    12. I prefer a Eastern RPG.. AKA the good ol' FF or Tales style games. I already have to much imagination on a "Tales of Sayaka Magica" (Puella Magi) game... *Cough*

That, and a MMORPG similar to Trickster Online without stealing any existing ideas.

And not related to any games.. But is there any progress in Cupcakes-Higurashi/Umineko visual novel? :3

    13. Sweet Trollestia on a pogo stick. Why hasn't anybody mentioned a Turn-based Strategy game?

Imagine an expansion campaign between the Dragons, the Ponies, and the Griffons. Three factions to choose from. Heck, want to make it 20% cooler? Set it on the Moon, 1000 years from the current series timeline. Why?

      Two words: Spice Melange.

(Yes, I know Dune was an RTS, but Turn-based strats are also fun. Google for Nectaris, R-Type Tactics/Command and Iron Storm to see why.)

    14. I was really dissapointed in Oblivion but >>opinions aside, I'd go for a WRPG. Or a platformer.

    15. 2D Fighter, Platformer and W/J-RPG would definately work.
Though my preference would be either a sidescroller beat'em-up in Simpsons arcade fame or a SRPG like Fire Emblem, AdvanceWars or Disgaea.
If it's one thing all of Hasbro's big 3 have in common is that they have a pretty extensive list of characters that they could mix and match into squads/groups in all the old shows. i'm honestly surprised they never took advantage of that for their games.
Plus I'd want a game were I could collect and play as all my favorites at once.

And maybe a musical puzzle game.

    16. An adventure point n click game.

      ReplyDelete
    17. A Demon's Souls-style Action-Adventure with RPG elements, epic boss fights and online capabilities.

I would buy it day 1.

    18. @ultra8

Kind of like the Super Robot Wars games for GBA and DS?

      That'd be awesome.

    19. Honestly I would love to see an Episodic Telltale Adventure game. Each episode could play out like one episode of the show. 8 Episodes, and each episode you control a different Mane Character (Plus Spike and Celestia). Since the game is intended for a male audience they can get away with a few more things that the show wouldn't normally have. And certainly hang a few good lampshades and open up background details of all the minor characters in the series.

Someone contact Tell Tale Games and get them to do this now.

    20. Make this a POLL damnit!

      Oh, and totally a Platformer

      ReplyDelete
    21. I'm going with any that is properly playable and the people running it know what they are doing and are honest with their players.

      ReplyDelete
    22. MMORPG And Western RPG! No Better Genera Out There!

      ReplyDelete
    23. One of my programming buddies has suggested that we make an FPS for practice. I'm trying to derail it into a 3rd person adventure/platformer. I just got the 3rd member of the group to start watching ponies tonight and he's hooked so I should succeed if this project actually happens.

      ReplyDelete
    24. Point and click adventure games?

      Good:
      Funny puzzles

      Bad:
      Not much replay value

      ReplyDelete
    25. Pony 4X or turn based strategy.

Failing that, I guess an open world adventure would be pretty cool.

      ReplyDelete
    26. RTS... man, that would be so frickn epic. think about it

      ReplyDelete
    27. Clearly a pony FPS is what the world really, REALLY needs.

But failing that, I think a platformer might be fun. Or, hay, give us an RTS, where we play as celestia ruling over equestria. Doesn't have to feature combat.

      ReplyDelete
    28. Well. Hmm. The thing is I can see an option in all of them.
Western RPG open world style is awesome. Venturing the lands of Equestria could be awesome. I have never been the fan of the Japanese style RPGs, but I could see it happening and being awesome. Just don't make it too flashy.
Even an RTS could make sense. Like, something like Cultures2, or Settlers. Something where you build a pony town and stuff (and not a fast paced slaughter RTS like Starcraft or C&C :P).

Platformer would be definitly cool if made well :)

What I can't really see is the fighter games and the shooter. It's not pony-like to beat up and shoot stuff :(

      ReplyDelete
    29. >implying we all wouldn't play a MLP:FIM game independent of game type.
Sure some we would like a lot less than others.

      ReplyDelete
    30. @Anonymous "Paper Mario style RPG."

THIS. Also, a platformer would work as well, provided it was well-done.

      ReplyDelete
    31. Twilight Sparkle

      ReplyDelete
    32. I suggest an RPG of some sort.

But I would not mind maybe a fighter.

AA with ponies would also be interesting.

A better mlp fim aip would be awesome (my little pony friendship is magic adventures in ponyvile).

      ReplyDelete
    33. A MMO RPG like MLP FIM AIP

      ReplyDelete
    34. Japanese or Western RPG.

      ReplyDelete
    35. JRPG could work well realistically if there was ever a real game and they had the budget.

      ReplyDelete
    36. A traditional point-and-click adventure game (call Telltale!), or an Paper Mario-like RPG

      ReplyDelete
    37. 2D Fighter. I'd be happy if ponies are used in some sort of crossover.

      ReplyDelete
    38. Sorry, but Point'n Click adventure is clearly the missing genre. Imagine sarcastic comments of Twilight Sparkle, when you're checking the inventory. Also it eliminates an issue of fighting ponies, because who want to see a beaten up Rainbow here? Me not.
Is it possible to add as a choice now?

      ReplyDelete
    39. TellTale games have teached me to love Point and Click adventure games!

I think FIM would definitly work as a point and click adventure!

      ReplyDelete
    40. Yes. I do want one. OF THEM ALL.

      ReplyDelete
    41. Oh, Super Smash Bronies would sure be interesting.

But personally, I'd prefer an open exploration game, with tons of little Easter Eggs spread out across a huge world! Picture Yume-Nikki, except friendly and cute instead of nightmarish and psychologically disturbing.

      ReplyDelete
    42. I would want a mix between a MMOPRG/W-RPG

      ReplyDelete
    43. a adventure game by telltale whould be awsome.
look secret of monkey island 4

      ReplyDelete
    44. Definitely a Western RPG. Possibly an eastern RPG if it was done in the style of Legend of Zelda, none of that Final Fantasy 13, linear corridor nonsense. A Ratchet and Clank style platformer would be fantastic, I think.

      ReplyDelete
    45. Western/MMORPG Kinda like EVE would be my dream.

      ReplyDelete
    46. Point & Click adventure! And if you have it starring TG&PT then you could use her hat as an inventory, just like Simon the Sorcerer, except infinitely better.

      ReplyDelete
    47. For me it'll definitely have to be a open world jrpg like the first 9 Final Fantasy games with platformer elements like the fight mechanic from Kingdom Hearts. It could evan start with Princess Celestial or the Mayor asking Twilight to investigate an increase in unusual monster sightings/activity in the Everfree Forest or the Whitetail woods. Things can escalate out of control from there or a little after.
A fighting game like Brawl, Mar vs. Cap, or even Dissidia could be epic also. That actually reminds me of a dream I had. It had an anthro version of Twilight fighting Chaos from Dissidia in a mix style of Terra from Final Fantasy 6, and Mevel from Star Ocean.
This topic also makes me wonder something. What would a map of Equestria look like? Would it be a super continent world like Spira and some of the other worlds from the FF series, or would it be just one country/continent? If its the later would you be able to venture outwards, or would you be confined like in Final Fantasy 12?
Also Twilight is Terra, Applejack is Tifa, and Pinkie Pie is Rikku.

      ReplyDelete
    48. i would like to see an mmo, platformer, and maybe a western rpg, because Oblivion: Equestria sounds amazing

      ReplyDelete
    49. I would love a japanese RPG, but a western RPG is also good.

      ReplyDelete
    50. Mm... probably a platformer, but not a boring one like Mario. Something more adventure-y, like Psychonauts.

    51. MY LITTLE PONY : CLASH OF FRIENDSHIP
      initial thoughts

      POOL PARTY (DeadPool/pinky pie)

      Steve magnet (sentinal/magneto/steve magnet )

Steve Magnet: YOU now know why I am the master of Fabulocity

Pool party : STEVE MAGNET WELCOME TO DIE

      Upon defeat

      Steve magnet: MY .........mu'stache

Pool Party: HEY !!! I just beat Steve FREAKING MAGNET!!!!!! WHERE YOUR CURLY MUSTACHE AT!!!!!!!!!!!! *Holds severed Mustache*

    52. For me it'll have to be a open world jrpg, like the first 9 Final Fantasy games, with some platformer elements in it like Kingdom Hearts's fight mechanic. A starting scenario that could work would be for Princess Celestia or the Mayor to ask Twilight if she could investigate the Everfree Forest/Whitetail Wood because of an increase in unusual monster sighting/activity. Things would naturally slowly spiral out of control from there.
Though if there was an open world game it begs to question, what would the map of equestria look like? Would it be a super continent world like Spira and similar worlds from the FF series, or is it just one regain/country/continent? If it's the latter could you venture outward, or would you be restricted to its borders like that section of Ivalice in Final Fantasy 12.
A fighting game in the style of Super Smash Bros., Marvel vs. Capcom, or evan Dissidia could also be epic. That also reminds me of a dream I had. It had an anthro version of Twilight fighting Chaos from Dissidia, and winning, in a way thats a mixture of Terra from Final Fantasy 6 and Mavel from Star Ocean.
On an ending note, Twilight is Terra, Applejack is Tifa, and Pinkie Pie is Rikku in a match up.

    53. Im sorry I posted the same thing twice in different ways. The first time I thought it didn't go through so I tryed again. On the Bright side the second one sounds better.

    54. @ Darth Equus

Yep. Something like that is exactly what I had in mind.

      ReplyDelete
    55. I'm oddly in love with the idea of a 2D pony fighter. Just... omg. And their 'special' moves based on their characters and combos. Hmm <3

      ReplyDelete
    56. MMO or RPG, simply because there are a ton of good OCs and i'd like to see them.

      ReplyDelete
    57. Why ? Somepony's going to program one ?

      ReplyDelete
    58. Some kind of eurogame, or a turn-based strategy.

      ReplyDelete
    59. I have to say it should be sort like Okami to me, y'know a fusion between the Final Fantasy-game style as well as platform games, but you also have to help ponies on your way (example by drawing stuff, like in Okami) and possibly beat Nightmare Moon in the end of it :)
And then there could be a freestyle mode as a gift if you beat the game, the chance to create your own personal pony to play the game with. 'cause I suspect it would be most fun to play as Twilight at least once! :b
*sigh* If dreams could come true (well, I did predict a Tekken movie - not the liveaction, the real Japanese animated one!) :3

    60. Rainbow Dash used Sonic Rainboom! It's super effective!
Pinkamena Diane Pie used Cupcakes! It's super effective!

    63. Earthbound/Mother RPG, 3D Platformer, I havent played too many RTS, So My idea of RTS is Lego Rock Raiders. Yes, These are probably some of the hardest to make. Ill work on a pony mod for LRR, now go do it!

      ReplyDelete
    64. mmorpg for sure! Something like Illusion Of Time or Secret Of Mana :)

      ReplyDelete
    65. A RAINBOW DASH SHOOTER GAME!!..like Sine Mora!!

      ReplyDelete
    66. I'd like to see:

2D Fighter (Prefrably modeled after SF instead of MK)
      3D Fighter
      MMORPG
      Japanese RPG

Maybe Street Fighter Alpha 2 could be dethroned off "Best Game Ever."

      ReplyDelete
    67. Some kinda empire-building game, I suppose.
