• Apple Bloom Audition Script

BronyMike sent me this one, its the audition script for Apple Bloom.  Strangely enough they made the voice actors use spike lines.  I'm not sure if that is some crazy technique or if they just didn't have lines for yet yet.

Also an old version of Gilda's name is buried in there.

You can find both images after the break!

    2. With a name like that, Gilda sounds more like one of Cincerella's step sisters! Good thing they changed it.

    3. ...Maybe Apple Bloom was originally going to be Twilight's assistant?

    4. Pretty cool! Today has been a great day for interesting news I must say. Nice way to start a holiday weekend.

    5. In acting you usually get people to voice a chareter that is not developed to let them fill the part. In Star Trek every actor auditioned as Doctor Mccoy.

Sooo.... does that mean Apple Bloom is 7, or that she just sounds about that old?

    7. @Anonymous

But then woudn't she have to be a Unicorn living in Canterlot and not be Apple Jack's Sister?

Grizelda does sound like a name for one of the evil step sisters. Now someone make a Cinderella Style Pony story... Actually, why hasn't one been made? It should have happened after Best Night Ever's great parody of it.

    8. I'm not sure what to gather from your comment, "Kill me, I'm a PONY"... but did you mean that you wish to speculate about the age of Apple Blooms voice actress?

Her name is Michelle Creber, and while I don't know if any public source has confirmed her exact age, she is according to IMDB "between 9 and 13". She can be seen posing together with Ingram for a photo on his facebook fan page.

The voice actress is a kid. I'm not sure how old she actually is though.

    11. I can't help but imagine those scenes with Apple Bloom in Spike's place.

The cake one actually works in my head, for some strange reason.

    12. Speaking of auditions...

I should probably get back to work on the project. Meh, I'll get an intern to do it. Wait, I don't have interns...

Anyone want to be an intern on our fanfic team?

    13. Perhaps they were Apple Bloom's lines originally, before the writers decided they would be more appropriate for Spike to deliver.

I was just joking about how no one has any idea as to the official ages (or the human age equivalent) of the main characters.

Except that Fluttershy is a year older than Pinkie

    15. Could be an earlier copy of the script from these scenes, but I'm more inclined to believe they did it in order to cover their arses: you don't want people running around with not-yet-released content in their possession for fear they might try to appropriate it as theirs. Consequently, it stands to reason you'd not let people yet-to-be-hired look at the real thing.

    17. So Applebloom used to take all of Spike's screen time?

My mind is full of fuck

    18. I'm going to assume that fillies were the original baby dragons. Where do you stick the scrolls?

I do love production stuff. The final polished product is great, but what could have been is always interesting. Hope we see more. Maybe some lyrics that Daniel trashed?

      ReplyDelete
    19. Guys, fillies weren't baby dragons- they probably just didn't have Applebloom's lines, or that they thought that Spike's lines had a variety of ranges to them in comparison :I

      ReplyDelete
    20. HA! I love how all her lines make her sound like she has no sense of hygiene at all. Even if they were intended for spike.

"Yeah, we're looking for a voice actor who sounds like a little girl who plays in poop all the time."

Ug. What does this say about Spike? I mean, I know cleanliness standards are different for dragons due to their study constitution, but still ...

Lauren did say the original premise for the show was centered around Apple Bloom This could have been an early script from before the show was changed to center around the mane herd.

    23. Wait, I'm confused. Is this OFFICIAL, or yet another fan project? If it's official, waht's happening to the current Apple Bloom voice?

Or is this clearly obvious and I should just go to bed and try again tomorrow?

    25. Now that I think about it. If anypony has some free time, I think a Gilda cover of The Monkees "Auntie Grizelda"...

    26. @Rockin' Brony ugh... A Gilda cover would be funny...

      Couldn't get that posted right...

    29. @AnonymousThis is an old audition script from (as far as I know) before the show was made. This is beta-FIM. I'm not even sure if I'm allowed to release this thing, I got a copy from a guy I took voiceover lessons from. He got it from his agent.

    30. @BronyMike

Are you sure the source is legit? Because I'm kinda suspicious aboutthe whole thing. AppleBloom at that moment had a different name. This casts doubt on this "script".

      > Lauren did say the original premise for the show was centered around Apple Bloom

Huh? When and where did she said that? I don't rememebr such thing, link please.

The only thing she mentioned about CMC is that Ahsbro asked her to add them into the original show. So, the conception about mane six was the original conception from the beginning.

      ReplyDelete
    32. I don't have a link as I do not horde her comments.
All I know is it was said on dA, in response to what, I have no clue as it was clipped to her comment alone.

But it was actually the other way around.
The show was to center around AB and her quest for a cutie mark, and Hasbro asked her to add Pinkie and AJ.

      ReplyDelete
    33. This is the first time I see such twisted interpretaion of her words.
"I hear that from some guy that knows some other guy who heard about something liek that". Lol.

      ReplyDelete
    34. Yes, because I'm saying that I heard it fifth hoof rather than first. That is completely what I'm saying when I said 'I saw it, but do not collect comments.'

And how many comments have we seen around that are not clips of a comment she's given? None?

You want your proof? Look to your own comment collection
Right there, third comment by her down in the second group.
I thought it may have been Dash instead of AJ, but it felt more natural that she'd have her sister, since neither was a unicorn and the original design of Pinkie was a pegasus.

Now, unless you made up those comments, .(since honestly, copying a swatch of HTML, altering it, and then taking a screen cap is well within the power of anypony) and then deliberately forgot, you just stabbed yourself in the hoof.

    35. I kept thinking of Scott Pilgrim when I saw the top of the first page.

      ReplyDelete
    36. @Luna wow, um, Luna sounds kinda irritated... Lol

      ReplyDelete
    37. Maybe Applebloom was originally scripted to be a foil to Spike? Or possibly was more involved in the story before Spike took on her role?

      ReplyDelete
    38. Luna, I don't think that comment means what you think it means. The original pitch had the whole Friendship is Magic theme with all the mane cast, but it also had a side story of Applebloom having a quest for cutie mark. AB was never meant to be the central character.

      ReplyDelete
    39. Being named "Grizelda" is a sufficient reason to turn out ill-tempered and angry at the world.

      ReplyDelete
    40. @Luna
Damn, I knew I should have added the original questions to avoid this mess! Sorry, that was my faulr, but I tried to fit things compactly instead of loooooooooooooooooooong page.

The words you refer to is her answer about CMC presence in the show. Hasbro ASKED Lauren to add CMC into the show, their presence wasn'tthe original conception. They appeal to younger TA (7-10) and their Screenplay used to explain how CM works in new conception.

As I said, theyr'e just an addition. The original conception was about 6 poneis as we see it.

      ===
Anyway, this script is still suspicious. If Gilda has old name here, AppleBloom should have that old name as well.

    41. Does this mean they are replacing Apple Bloom's voice actor? O_o

      ReplyDelete
    42. @Kallik RusselWhy would they be replacing AB's voice actor by making her voice Spike's scenes from Applebuck and Griffon?

      Either way, here's the scoop:

A few months ago I took an animation voiceover course. It was eight students, six of them women. We were all given audition scripts that roughly matched our estimated vocal ranges. These were all given to the guy in charge by his agent at one point or another, either for him to audition for or just for him to use in the class (as I estimate was the case with the AB script).

Either way, we all did our lines one-by-one and the teacher gave feedback and tried to get us to act, basically just doing what a director would do, but probably a lot more patiently and helpfully. Eventually, one of the chicks says her lines, and I recognize it as MLP.

I was still completely in the stable back then, so while some of them cracked wise about how cutesy My Little Pony is and shit like that, I just kinda sat back and wished that I would be able to get a peek at the script before the class ended.

      I didn't.

So, a couple weeks passed and I got the courage (again, bronies weren't as big a thing back then so I was still afraid to admit my fandom) to email the guy and ask if he could send me some scans of the script.

After like a month and a half of waiting (he's a working voice actor and he runs these workshops, so the wait is understandable) I finally got the scans and then quickly sent them straight to EqD.

The lines in here are exactly as I remember them being read in the workshop, and no parties involved would have any reason to doctor anything, so best I can assume is that the guy's agent got it (this is in Vancouver, where a lot of the MLP stuff goes on, by the way, so the placement makes sense) while the show was being cast for season 1.

      ReplyDelete
    43. @BronyMikeTLDR: Nobody involved would have given enough of a shit to falsify this.

      ReplyDelete
    44. I never said anything about falcification. May be they just messed up with the characters names, I dunno. But if that's a correct script, ApppleBloom should be Appleseed.
