- Fluttershy Sing a Song, and it will melt you. Be warned.

Okay, I've calmed down now. It's a fun little story-line / humor episode the first time through, but I wonder if it's going to be like Over a Barrel in the sense that it's most effective the first time, and can never quite peak on repeat playings. And for some reason, the spacing of events for the episode reminds me a lot of Tetris Attack.

This....episode was bizarre. BIZARRE. I don't know how I feel about it. It kinda felt a bit forced, rushed and overly cheesy in some parts. I felt myself saying 'seriously'? Quite a bit. Rock farm Pinkie Pie and Applejack wanting to be all high society? Rainbow Dash causing everyone's cutimarks to appear in some way shape or form is a bit too Mary Sue to me.
I think it might be my own fault though. I was expecting it to be quite different. I loved that we got to see Twilight Sparkles parents though! Her mom reminds me of a G1 pony somehow, I can't put my finger on it though.
Also where are Spike's parents? Was he stolen? Is he an indentured servant? Does Twilight Sparkle own him? Will he really look like that grown up?
I'm going to try to watch it again to see if I can wrap my head around it better.

Also, the how-rainbow-got-her-mark poll? Totally a fakeout. You'll notice that they didn't say "..and we'll show you the winner in two weeks".
More importantly, the poll was two weeks ago and animation requires a LOT more lead time than that (unless you're South Park). Animating all three and choosing one would be prohibitively expensive, considering there's no plans for them to use those clips ever.

Fluttershy was probably one of the latest in getting her cutie mark, which might have never happened if she didn't fall into that cloud of rather conspicuously placed migrating butterflies. Pinkie was the youngest by appearance, a future episode will probably revolve around her sisters unless they've already appeared in the show. Everyone quick look back at all the previous episodes and search them.

For those of you wondering, I just went back and compared, and Twilights dad and Trixie to not, actually, have the same cutie mark. The moon is a waning crescent for Trixie, and it's more stylized, the lower quarter is thicker, and the colour is bluish. For Twi's dad, it's a typical waxing crescent, as opposed to Trixies stylized waning, the color is white, and I'm pretty sure he has a star as opposed to Trixies wand. So no, not the same cutie mark.
...Oh god...SO CUTE. I don't think I will ever be able to contain how much cuteness I just witnessed.

Fucking AWESOME episode! My mind has been blown by everything that took place in the episode. And my mind is also being blown by what was fanon now being either canon, or extremely close to being canon.
Let's go over everything we have so far:
"The Party Hasn't Ended" is so eerily supported by today's episode, that it is almost canon.
"Everybody Loves Rainbow Dash" is now much more plausible
Derpy Hooves is now confirmed to be a time traveller (probably Dr. Whoof's sidekick)
Rainbow Sheen is now a meme (WINNING)
Twilight has parents, they were briefly turned into plants.
Madmax's comic strip about Twilight being a bookworm because Celestia snapped at her and told her to read a book is now supported by the show - but not confirmed nor close to canon

I don't know why people are being weird about Fillyshy. I mean, we KNOW she's a year older than Pinkie Pie, and Fillyshy is clearly taller than Filly Pie. This suggests that Fillyshy had her growth spurt - hence her skinny appearance. Compare Fillyshy to the other characters in Filly form, and it becomes very believeable that Fluttershy could possibly be older than some if not all of the others. At the very least, it is very believeable that Fillyshy had a growth spurt before any of her later friends did.
So the Fillyshy haters should probably OD on some Strawberry Shortcake, or just deal with it.
note: Anyone think Fillyshy's growth spurt refers to common teen drama shows where the shy one has to deal with going through changes first, and the attention that it attracts?

You know what's funny? With comments Fluttershy has made in previous episodes and this one I think that in Fluttershy's world she's a confident, dynamic and outspoken pony. She "used" to be shy.

After watching this Celestia-tier episode, I can't help but have my creative juices flowing and I came up with a plausible plot for a "What if?" Alternate Dimension of the ponyverse...
(SPOILERS AHEAD WITH THE IDEA BELOW)
...What if Dash DIDN'T perform that first Sonic Rainboom? Considering that it was the reason all 6 eventually were brought together. I have a pluasible aftermath of such an event not occuring. Maybe it may make sense or maybe not.
RD: After losing the race (because she didn't do a Sonic Rainboom), she was literally made the butt of jokes at Flight School and because of her hidden "scared-to-lose" inferiority complex (as seen in Fall Weather Friends and Sonic Rainboom), she becomes a shell of her former self. Scared, feels worthless and tries to feel better by becoming a different TYPE of "speed addict".
AJ: She stays with her Orange brethren, adopts a new name and soon loses all her country mannerisms to become a snobbish, high society stuffed-shirt. Gone is her honesty and is now shallow and self-centered. One eventual outcome is returning to Sweet Apple Acres and actually buying it to turn into her own private resort.
Fluttershy: She is still enamored by animals, but has a more extreme twist on it. She is basically a "Crazy Animal Lady" hermit who stays in her cottage taking care of her animals as her children and loathes contact with anyone that isn't a cute or caring animal.
Rarity: After having her horn take her to the rock (which didn't break after the Rainboom strikes to reveal the gemstones inside), she is insulted by her instincts and swears off designing. She wanders her youth trying to find her talent (a la the CMC) and eventually settles in Sweet Apple Acres to help Big Mac (in this alt. world only he is the only one who cares for the farm) and marries him. Of course, all this is lost when the Alt-AJ returns to kick them off.
Twilight: Failing to enter the Academy and never becoming Celestia's protegee (not to mention never allowing Spike to be hatched), she becomes obsessed with trying to win Celestia's favor like a crazed fangirl, only to be ignored. The resentment turns her admiration to hatred and is one of the first to welcome Nightmare Moon when she break out and specifically requests to be Celestia's personal torturer which Nightmare Moon is all too happy to grant.
Pinkie: Remains "Pinkamena Diane Pie" with her straight hair and inherits the rock farm. She is dour and joyless in her existence to the point of losing all emotion towards trying to keep her farm from being bought by AJ.
Quite believable storyline, wouldn't you say? Sadly, I'm only good for ideas and not writing them fluently, so if anypony wants to make a story out of this, feel free. Just glad I got my idea off my chest.
