This one will be a bit different for fanfictions. I'm not going to be assigning every single fic it's own post like the last one. They will chill here with everything else in the same format as the April Foals stuff did. We might do some voting to give the top 5 their own posts, but friend-offs are about fun, not competition!

The Deadline will be on May 1st at 11:59 PM Pacific (6:59 GMT I think? Derp), meaning the actual posting of the event will happen on May 2!

I'm a little confused about the submitting of the fan fiction. Is the template that you give how it's going to show up in the post, or how you want to have it submitted? Or do you want us to submit it in the usual format? Either way, I would think that the fics would have some link to the picture that inspired them, similar as to how in the past the pictures had links to the fics that inspired them. If that is the case, then I think a link to the picture that inspired the fic would be required in the submission. I'm just a tad confluttershuzzled is all.
Is there a word limit to a fan fiction entered in this? Because I whipped up a short story and I'm wondering if I need to add more to it.
Ironically, the big-ass epic I'm currently writing is already sort of based on my favorite MLP image.
Good thing my second favorite MLP image is just begging to have a oneshot written about it.
I've actually already written something that someone then made a picture of, and somehow that picture got featured in a Drawfriend before the actual story was complete.
So I think it's only fair that I expand that small story "part" into a full-fledged story for this event. B)

IIRC, it's a bit easier on Sethisto to post stuff if it gets submitted to him in a format matching the one he'll be putting it up in.

Makes sense, but it still doesn't answer my question on how we'll know which pictures inspired which stories. I just think that if we're going to write stories based off of pictures then the pictures should be featured in some form. If not then what stops people from just writing anything willy-nilly and claiming they got it off a picture but conveniently forgot which one it was. Plus I think it'd make a nice touch for people to see the visual aid of what inspired the story. If each story was going to get its own post then I would say the blog picture would easily suffice, but since it's clear that all the fics are going to be in one post, likely the same post as the art, then how are we going to see what art inspired the story? I just want a little clarification on this is all.

Also, why are there NO pictures of Rarity and Fluttershy adventuring, let alone just being together in a picture? Am I honestly the only person who thinks that they are the most adorable pair of ponypals to ever grace a children's television program? Apparently Mrs. Faust agrees; they are, THE BEST OF FRIENDS, are they not?! Grr!

As far as I understand, no. The whole point of the friendoff is basically just taking inspiration from something. And also getting closer as a community.
I wrote a story which is only two pages long. Is this acceptable? It's in a diary format so there isn't any dialogue, just walls of text. It's pretty good though...
I just submitted a story for the first time. I hope it turned out well, I love sharing my work =D

Hmmm. I actually have had an idea in the works for a one-off based on a pic. Maybe I'll actually get around to writing it and submit it.
