• Lady Gaga is a Brony

So a while back someone sent me an image of Lady Gaga with "Something" resembling a pony on her head.  The image was really blurry and difficult to decipher, so I figured it would be best to just let it go until something clear showed up.

Well here it is!  Lady Gaga apparently likes the pony.  That or she is being forced into wearing ponies by the same people that make her dress up in insane costumes all the time.

I see a bunch of severed heads for the g3.5 stuff.  Hopefully this is a sign of her true g4 bronydom with that awesome Rarity hangin out.

    Also more information! (New!)

Anyway, another image is after the break!

    1. Did she behead Applejack and Twilight Sparkle, too?

I feel like this is actually a step back. There are people out there who are just going to think MLP became popular because of Lady Gaga now. Ugh, that makes me feel sick just to type out.

    2. I feel like it's simply another grasp for attention. Not a fan of her myself.

      ReplyDelete
    3. I am now ashamed to call myself a brony.

      I hate GaGa.

      ReplyDelete
    4. @no space I don't think that will ever happen nor will this garner any attention outside the MLP FIM community or the internet. I haven't heard or seen word of her Tweeting about the show so I think you should relax. =) This doesn't mean anything yet.

      ReplyDelete
    5. Oh, yeah. She leuhves ponies.

      ReplyDelete
    6. @Anonymous And to add on to that Nor do I think it ever will.

    8. Eh, If Gaga has heart enough to like ponies I'll need to reconsider my opinion of her.

We gotta have compassion for anyone who gives the series a shot right? That's enough for anyone to earn a second chance.

      ReplyDelete
    9. ... the only stuff from Lady Gaga I can remotely stand is from The Fame Monster, but this is quite an odd development. Not sure what to make of it.

      ReplyDelete
    10. I doubt she's really into mlp. Probably just an 'edgy' addition to her wardrobe: "Look at me, I beheaded a bunch of girl's playthings and am using them as a necklace!" It could have easily been a bunch of barbie doll heads.

    11. >crime against fabulosity

      ReplyDelete
    12. Come to think of it, isn't Gaga supposed to seriously dislike "commercialism" or something? Seems like she wouldn't wear what are essentially ground up pure essence of it if she wasn't into the show and the message.

      Maybe...

      ReplyDelete
    13. Bye guys, I'm leaving this community forever.

      ReplyDelete
    14. NO WAIT I CHANGED MY MIND I CAN'T SURVIVE WITHOUT MY PONIES

      ReplyDelete
    15. As much as I dislike her music, this fandom is based on love and tolerance so... I guess welcome to the herd Miss Gaga.

      ReplyDelete
    16. Gee, that doesn't seem at ALL like another pathetic, desperate ploy from the world's hungriest attention-vampire.

      ReplyDelete
    17. @Anonymous Just because one person likes the show whom you don't like you're leaving? Well we'll still be here with open arms if you come back.

      ReplyDelete
    18. Somehow, I'm not surprised. Lady Gaga has always appeared to be quite in tune with memes to me, I'm sure she sees bronydom as another opportunity for something outrageous =P

The joke would have worked if someone didn't post in between my two posts.

    20. Odds are this is a one time thing and she'll move on to a new costume in a day or so. if the pony necklace shows up on a regular basis then we can assume she has some personal attachment to it. But I expect it's just another accessory of the moment considering it's beheaded ponies. I'm not sure the woman behind the Gaga persona is the type to watch cartoons.

      ReplyDelete
    21. NO.

      ANYONE BUT LADY GAGA.

      FFFFFFFFFFFFFF

      QUICK TWILIGHT, UNBRONIFY HER. D:

    22. I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. To be frank I am not a fan of pop music, or any other music for that matter, that isn't Swing, Classical or METAL!
Man do I have odd tastes.

      ReplyDelete
    23. I will forgive her for being lady gaga if she covers art of the dress or winter wrap up.

      ReplyDelete
    24. I love Lady GaGa. I love ponies even more. I just hope she doesn't betray me and just likes ponies for publicity.

      ReplyDelete
    25. Great... if this turns into anything like her 'Hello Kitty' photoshoot, she is going to ruin ponies for me.

Don't much care for Gaga. I still think it was internet backlash that caused her to cave to Wierd Al... I'm certain she thought she was better than he was.

      ReplyDelete
    26. Great. Now we're gonna have fake bronies who only like the show because Lady Gaga likes it.

Gaga, we really hate you. Just stop now.

      ReplyDelete
    27. Ah, gaga is a rarity fan? *brohoof*
Also, if she is actually a brony, it would not surprise me in the least if her fav was rarity.

Allthough, i doubt she really likes the show, she's been aware of the memes, and does alot of shit to grab attention.

i hope this is just for attention, i welcome her into the herd with open arms if it's not, but wait until the parisprites hear about it....uugh

      ReplyDelete
    28. @BagOfChips Although Photo Finish Certainly looked like GAGA she wasn't based off of her. She was Based of Anna Wintour

      ReplyDelete
    29. geez I feel bad for not hating Lady Gaga now or something. :[ I'm totally unopposed to her wearing Rarity and beheaded 3.5 ponies as a necklace. Come on guys, whatever happened to loving and tolerating the shit out of everything? Just because you don't like her you can't like ponies anymore? You sound like a bunch of hipsters. "I liked it before it went mainstream"

      ReplyDelete
    30. @Anonymous

When gaga has white hair (which she does in most of the first google images) PF looks more like Gaga. But yeah, I can see the Wintour resemblance too.

Pony Gaga is just more fun though

      ReplyDelete
    31. If I had any doubt in my mind that she held any stronger interest in Ponies than that of a diseased tick holds in drilling into the unsuspecting arteries of a defenseless host--a host whose name, in this case, is Pop Culture, and through whose veins courses a sweet nectar called Extremely Temporary Attention--I might be worried. But I'd be less surprised to hear that Kim Jong Il has a closet shrine devoted to Pinkie Pie than I would be to hear that Lady Gaga had enough intelligence, taste, and presence of mind to enjoy MLPFiM. Don't abandon ship just yet, bronies.

      ReplyDelete
    32. MLP's message to girls: be yourself, don't just fit into stereotypes/gender roles

MLP brony fandom enjoys the show that was actually targeted at another demographic...

Gaga's message to everybody: be yourself, don't just fit into stereotypes/gender roles

I think there might be some common ground here...

      ReplyDelete
    33. Interesting! I gotta say though, rocking a Rarity necklace is AWESOME. Rocking a Rarity necklace with beheaded ponies... Kinda poor taste there Gaga.

      ReplyDelete
    34. Haters gonna hate. Bronies gonna love and tolerate. Monsters gonna dance. <3

      ReplyDelete
    35. @Da Chi

But they're the ugly 3.5 ponies that are beheaded! Obviously one reigns supreme over the others. That's something.

      ReplyDelete
    36. Glad to see I'm not the only one who hates that attention hoe.

      ReplyDelete
    37. >I was into MLPFIM before it went mainstream

Seems like some people are going be hipsters~

      ReplyDelete
    38. @Anonymous

I'm pretty sure the people saying that are joking.

      ReplyDelete
    39. Hm...

I'd love to say more about this, but I don't really listen to Gaga, so...

      ..yeah...

      ReplyDelete
    40. That is, I'm completely oblivious to her work.

      ReplyDelete
    41. Bronies, I'm surprised at you! Even if you're not a fan of her work (I'll admit bias and say that I'm gaga for Gaga), this is not what you preach. Bronies are supposed to be above these petty things.

I hate to break it to you but FiM is not mainstream enough for the necklace to really garner any special attention. It's just part of another unusual outfit for the Lady. If anything her agent probably tried to warn against her having a necklace adorned with headless ponies, as that's a bit squick even by her standards.

But FiM's messages are all things she stands by. Being who you are, standing up for yourself and your friends, accepting the differences in others. It's a huge direction change from previous generations that encouraged "good girl" behaviors. Instead, it's loving who you are, because baby, you were born that way.

Consider that perspective. Consider the messages that necklace could possibly send, how virtually none of them are publicity positives for her, and consider that she's doing it anyway as a shout out to the show. Consider that her particular Rarity is modified to have a rockin' mohawk. Now imagine if she reads ED, and saw these comments, to see a community founded on acceptance and understanding to throw such vitriolic insults at her without a care.

You don't have to like her music. You don't have to like how she interacts with the media. You don't have to like what she says. But dammit, you WILL love or tolerate the shit out her.

      ReplyDelete
    42. Fff.

*Or out of her, for that matter.

      ReplyDelete
    49. Like it? She has beheaded those poor G3.5 ponies and wears them like Sha Wujin from Journey to the West wears that necklace made from the skulls of innocent monks 0_o

      O wait just the G3.5 got beheaded.... Okay she's a fan :)

      ReplyDelete
    50. Welp, everyone who was a brony before this point is now a hipster. The fandom will suffer a hairline fracture as an all out war between BG (before Gaga) bronies and AG (After Gaga) bronies rages. Meanwhile, an all-out war between BB (before bronies) Gaga fans and AB (after bronies) Gaga fans rages.

Aside, not a Gaga fan, but I'll listen to her stuff if it's playing. She knows Rarity is the best pony, so she obviously has good taste.

Aside aside, can't wait for the shitstorm when Justin Beiber turns out to be a brony.

      ReplyDelete
    51. ...FUUUU----

I don't want her to like ponies...((anti-gaga right here)) xP

      ReplyDelete
    52. Not sure why everyone is acting like this is such a surprise. Back when there was the other pic with her having a pony on her head someone brought up that she had mentioned somewhere that she liked MLP when she was younger.

      http://www.metro.co.uk/music/857372-lady-gaga-my-little-pony-toys-inspired-born-this-way

She may dress obnoxiously, but it just looks like she's doing this as a tribute to part of her childhood.

      ReplyDelete
    53. This will have little to no effect on the Fanbase calm down.

      ReplyDelete
    54. I half-expect Andy Samberg to wear a Rainbow Dash shirt in a Lonely Island video.

Anyone else remember when Gaga wore a outfit made up of dead Kermit the Frogs?

      ReplyDelete
    55. Upon thinking about this...

...I'm okay with this. I can deal with this.

      ReplyDelete
    56. 'You sound like a bunch of hipsters. "I liked it before it went mainstream"'

      Yup, sounds about right.

      ReplyDelete
    57. Blogger, I hate why. Why can you keep my text when I accidentally click on links! :S

Anyway to write this again: I want to joke that the necklace she's wearing is Pinkie Pie's doing on "Cupcakes". AKA headless ponies are creepy.

Anyway, I DO NOT HATE Lady Gaga, just okay with her, especially since there are not alot of Pop tunes, and I like some of her bizarre outfits.

So kudos to you Gaga. Just hope you don't get a herd of angry bronies for butchering Applejack.

      ReplyDelete
    58. Don't see why people are against her. Yeah sure she's an attention whore, but her music is harmless if not acceptable. Just click dislike and move on.

      ReplyDelete
    59. Come on guys, even if you don't like her, she promotes acceptance and love- EXACTLY what the show teaches. She just chose a more... unique way to show it. Now, I'm no Justin Beiber fan, but if he came out and said he was a Brony, I'd have a lot more respect for him, even if I don't care for his music.

(''') (''') Claws up for Brony GaGa!

      ReplyDelete
    60. inb4 someone draws art of Gaga reaching into a ponies chest and ripping out their heart and yelling KALI!!! like that dude in the 2nd Indiana Jones film.

... well? What are you waiting for? ;0

      ReplyDelete
    61. Don't worry guys, I did some more reading on it.

So you don't have to worry.

    62. @Anonymous
I am a B/b/ pony fan and you're all a bunch of wankers.

      ReplyDelete
    63. OH FOR FUCKING OUT LOUD! I'm sorry, but she's part of that fashion/popmusicpromotion world, that's how she came to power.

They love the IDEA of My Little Pony.

They're embracing the tackiness, camp, kitsch, and horridness most "ordinary" people still associate with the franchise. They have NEVER HEARD OF nor could give two shits about Sonic Rainbooms, Grand Galloping Galas, Elements of Harmony, or Winter Wrap Up. It's exactly like the first years of Star Trek The Next Generation. Most people still only knew of Kirk Spock and McCoy. Ask them about the Borg and they'd say "I liked her better when she was singing in the Sugarcubes?"

Me? I'm not offended, impressed, or excited. I'm only a little annoyed because it reflects the ignorance that most people still have about the franchise, and all the stigma that goes with them.

PLEASE, my brothers, don't just jiz your pants every time some ignorant fuck says "oh my little pony? sure, I love it" coz usually they mean "oh, and I also love the original He-Man, Jem and the Holograms, Porcelain Statues on QVC, and Starr Jones"

      ReplyDelete
    64. Gaga love Unicorns, so why wouldn't she like Rarity. She probably has a Twilight Sparkle too.

      ReplyDelete
    65. @Anonymous

I saw your joke and rofl'd. Thanks :P

      ReplyDelete
    66. She's got the head of one, and AJ, and two g3.5's on her neck.
Personally, not a gaga fan, but I like her as a person.

I do think it could end up as being bad publicity because of overexposure, but meh. EQD will stay around for a long while. I'll be slightly optimistic for now, keeping an eye on how it turns out, and carrying on my personal obsession with ponies.

      ReplyDelete
    67. Well Lady Gaga seems to be a G1 fan as well: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a307561/gaga-inspired-by-my-little-pony.html?rss

    69. This makes Lady GaGa about 20% cooler.

      ...someone had to say it

      ReplyDelete
    70. Knowing Gaga, I doubt this means anything at all.

She's absolutely batshit, and to be honest I love that about her. Nothing to suggest that this is anything beyond another "what the hell is THAT supposed to mean" trick.

      ReplyDelete
    71. Being a brony just became 20% less cool.

      ReplyDelete
    72. Meh, the likely thing is that she doesn't know the first thing about bronydom, and thus, this is likely a failed ploy for attention from the fandom. However, on the off-chance that she does actually like the show, it will add the typical 'Thinks it's funny to act like a 5 year old' to the fandom. I can gladly say I'm going to be ignoring this development from here on out.

      ReplyDelete
    73. Am I the only one who noticed Rarity's bloody horn, in addition to the severed heads of generations past?

      ReplyDelete
    74. I really want to emphasize how much some of you guys sound like hipsters.

Think about it. If this really bothers you, you should reconsider why you're here. Do you like ponies because nobody famous likes it, or because you actually like ponies for what they are? If it's the latter, then why do you give a shit who's wearing it? If it's the former...

...well, I just feel kinda sad that you don't like ponies for ponies. But you can stay here until it's too mainstream for you.

      ReplyDelete
    75. Each to their own.

If she likes ponies, good for her.

If she doesn't, sucks for her.

      Either way, not my problem.

      ReplyDelete
    76. ^ the horn's not bloody; that's a Shine Bright Rarity and her horn lights up red. There's a Gagavision video of her with it somewhere...

      ReplyDelete
    77. To all the people who are whining about this... shut the fuck up, seriously. Love and tolerance, live it, what makes you think you deserve to be a "Brony" any more than GaGa. I really don't understand what has made you all so crazy.

      ReplyDelete
    78. You guys need to chill. So what if she's a brony? Does that really change the fact that you enjoy the show yourself? If so, you may want to reevaluate the reasons you're a part of this fandom in the first place. Sure, I'm not a big fan of her music, but I would never turn anyone away from the pony community. As bronies, it's our job to spread the power of friendship to the world. This includes people you may not like. Love and tolerance boys, love and tolerance.

      ReplyDelete
    79. @Anonymous
Maybe it was chosen because it looks bloody? Hmmmmm... Maybe Gaga read "Cupcakes" and didn't figure that Pinkie was the pink one? ;-)

      ReplyDelete
    80. "Oh, waah, someone I don't like likes something I like, now I can't like it anymore D:"

      THIIIIIS IS WHIIIIIINING.

Ahem. Anyway though I wouldn't put too much in store by this. She's the right age to have played with My Little Ponies as a kid, so I don't think it necessarily means she's into the new series. As another brony said, it could just as easily have been Barbie dolls.

      ReplyDelete
    81. Oh lady Gaga! You´re so random!

      ReplyDelete
    82. Personally, I don't care if Lady Gaga likes ponies. If she does, great, she has good taste. If she doesn't, she doesn't know what she's missing.
And if she brings more fans to the show, I just hope they come to appreciate it for what it is and not just because "if that fabulous pony likes it, then I do too!"

      ReplyDelete
    83. Oh, and as for Lady Gaga, I subscribe to the belief that she is actually a parody of pop divas. There hasn't been anything official to confirm or deny that she is a parody, but there is good deal of evidence.
I find her to be much more bearable this way.
Unfortunately, most of her fans would prefer her to be completely serious.

      ReplyDelete
    84. Why are so many bronies so negative about this? Surely if she's a brony we ought to welcome her to the herd, her music and theatrics and whatnot aside. Love and tolerate! Anyone that likes Rarity can't be all bad, after all.

      ReplyDelete
    85. Is the general word for a pony fan: brony? I was under the impression it was a mens only term.

      ReplyDelete
    86. @Anonymous

I was told once that "It's a state of being, not a gender".

      ReplyDelete
    87. Well I figured it partially came from being 'brotherly' and partially from the /b/tards that like it.

I guess there's no horse related um... euphemism? yet for females, since I would guess not many people expected to find so many girls liking g4 too.

Failing all else, fall back on FILLIES AND GENTLECOLTS.

Also yeah tl;dr watch for disappointment but carry on liking ponies for the same reason you always did, as I said earlier.

      ReplyDelete
    88. Ugh tired I realise I didn't answer that at all. Following on from that then, yeah I guess brony has been developed to be a blanket term for the time being.

      ReplyDelete
    89. I was once told that "brony" is "a state of being, not a gender".

So, I refer to myself as a brony in blanket terms, but a filly if I'm being specific to myself ("filly here" instead of "femanon here" or something).

      ReplyDelete
    90. Imagine if Lonely Island made a video about Bronies. I mean I wouldn't out it past them or a cover of the theme song by Less Than Jake.
I just see Lady Gaga wearing her necklace and keeping her Rarity close. Now if she came out on stage dressed as one of the ponies that would be something.

      ReplyDelete
    91. I dont know if I should be Happy about this or worried ಠ_ಠ
      @JaxsonJaguar
^ This would be amazing if it happened ^

      ReplyDelete
    92. @no space I know, her music is great but this is going to over hype MLP and we are going to get bronies who are in it just because gaga likes it

      ReplyDelete
    93. Not sure if want...

      ReplyDelete
    94. Brony is a portmanteau of "bro" and "pony," so in its original context, I suppose it had some sort of male connotation.

But now I think it's used as a general term for any adult fan. I'm pretty sure the ladies can be bronies too.

      ReplyDelete
    95. Where'd the love and tolerance go? First warnings on colt shippers, now hatred on Lady Gaga? We're not an exclusive club, folks. I'm rather ashamed of some of you bronies after reading all these comments.

      ReplyDelete
    96. If she likes ponies or not I don't see how this means "my life is ooooveeer omgggggggggg"

And unless she starts promoting it I highly doubt we're going to get an influx of 'only like it because gaga does' fans. Because cause, obviously, everything she wears is a signal for her fans to become obsessed, really, with everything :/ (Furthermore maybe if they /do/ notice maybe they will be good fans. It's not like the 'faker' fans will really spend their time on the sites we do.)

      ReplyDelete
    97. Wow so much negative. Just, wow.

Even if you don't like her music (which is just fine) She's not a bad person. Strange, very very strange, but she seems to enjoy it. I don't think her wearing the ponies, even if it's not something she watches, is a desperate call for attention.

Also like someone else said - you all sound like hipsters. Don't like? Leave. Have fun with your non-mainstream cool. :D

      ReplyDelete
    98. The only thing to do, is love and tolerate the shit out of her. Sometimes, people you don't like are into the same thing as you. Flipping out, yelling about how she's an awful person, and that she ruined your show isn't helping anyone or anything. If anything, it's just making the fandom look bad.

I should hope the bronies are better than this.

      ReplyDelete
    99. I like how loco Gaga is but I'd rather not have her make MLP into a franchise...oh wait.

    105. Everypony, I am ashamed of you! What was all that about love and tolerance? What was that about finding the magic of friendship? now, suddenly, it doesn't matter because Lady Gaga happens to be famous? Or infamous, if you prefer?

If she's into MLP, great! If she's doing it for attention, that's fine too. I don't like her music, kinda find the whole 'meat dress' thing a little weird but whatever. It's her choice and I say we welcome her with open hooves. Love and tolerate, damn it. I will love and tolerate the ever living crap out of anyone who joins this fandom. Give us a kiss, Gaga. You're fabulous.

YOU. GAGA. GET OUT OF MY FANDOM.

      ReplyDelete
    108. Okay, I'm mostly kidding, but still... dammit. :(

I can love the fandom but that doesn't mean I have to like every single one of the fans.

      ReplyDelete
    109. I'm not a fan, but I think her videos are hilarious!

So if Lady Gaga is now a Brony, I say, "Welcome to the herd!"

      ReplyDelete
    110. I doubt that Gaga is actually into MLP and that's just part of an outfit thing.
Either way, I wouldn't be sure how to feel, since I consider myself a pretty big Gaga fan but I haven't been liking her lately. :\

      ReplyDelete
    111. Followed some of the earlier links and watched the Born This Way video...in which it appears that Lady Gaga has found her cutie mark and it's a unicorn. No kidding, she's got a unicorn tattoo on her "flank!"

      ReplyDelete
    112. On first blush, I'm thinking it's just something her agents have her do in order to try to ride a rising trend of pony on the Internet. Not because it's Gaga, but because that's stardom.

However, that could be unfair, Gaga could be a legit brony, in which case she deserves a brohoof. The appeal of pony is mighty indeed.

      ReplyDelete
    113. Wow, a lot of these comments are what make me embarrassed to be a brony. Not if Gaga is a brony.

You guys seriously need to chill. Whether you like Gaga's music or not, her being a brony is not the end of the world. And it doesn't mean suddenly a lot of people will be bronies just because Gaga is (if she even is). Stop sounding like hipsters.

I like Lady Gaga so maybe I'm a bit biased but if someone like say Justin Bieber, who I don't care for at all, were to be a brony I wouldn't give a shit.

      ReplyDelete
    114. It looks like a weird mod of Rarity with a bad hair day, just like Gaga...but she does have a unicorn tat so it wouldn´t surprise me she would transition into an honorary brony, besides it could be good for the series, can you imagine a "ponyfied" version of Lady Gaga? There´s a guy on DA who already made it.

    115. In that second pic she resembles Marilyn Manson to a creepy degree... not her most flattering photo by far, and I happen to LIKE MM.

      ReplyDelete
    116. that. isnt. lady gaga,
      hefemales cant be brony.

      ReplyDelete
    117. As far as I've heard, the necklace actually belongs to some guy who was at the photoshoot with her and it doesn't actually have anything to do with her aside from that she thought it was kind of interesting.

      ReplyDelete
    118. Yikes.

You know, I'm not high on Gaga. Girl can sing, I'll give her that. And she works hard, I'll give her that too. And seeing as how she's seemed more than a little stressed out lately - crying in quite a few interviews and the like - maybe she is watching the show and maybe it's bringing her some joy and stress relief. Which it's done for a whole lot of us.

I somehow doubt that's the case, this being Gaga after all, but who knows. Either way, there's no need to be so mean about it, it's not the end of the world if Lady Gaga likes My Little Pony.

      ReplyDelete
    119. You know, She's obviously enough of a fan that she put ponies into her new 'GagaVille' game on Facebook... http://www.allfacebook.com/gagaville-goes-live-on-facebook-2011-05

Also, Love & Tolerance, fellow bronies! Let's stop the parasprite invasion!

      ReplyDelete
    120. Gaga is all right with me. I like her music, in general, and I like the attitude she brings to the industry. Sure, maybe she's a little crazy, but I guess I like people who are "out there". If she likes ponies that's fine by me. Whether she's a "true brony" or whatever or someone who liked ponies from childhood. I don't get all the Gaga hate. Maybe it's because I don't really follow pop culture news and keep up with celebrity gossip or whatever. Maybe people should stop worrying so much that one person is going to somehow destroy their fandom.

      ReplyDelete
    121. i dont much like gaga, i think littlekuriboh is the only reason i tolerate her music.

that aside, i think only the brony community would even notice ponies on a necklace. had i not been a brony, and noticed the pony heads, i would be so indifferent.

unless she intentionally promotes the shows, noone new will come.

      ReplyDelete
    122. Did all of us miss this somehow? Gaga was making Pony news weeks ago.

      http://socialitelife.com/lady-gaga-inspired-by-my-little-pony-03-2011

"Lady Gaga has said that she draws inspiration from many places – including fashion, pop culture, music, film, literature, etc. But My Little Ponies? Yep, even that too!

“I had My Little Ponies,” she told the Big Top 40 Show. ”I was obsessed with the idea of a creature that was born with something magical that sort of made them the misfit in the world of the stallion.” She said that part of that idea helped her come up with the concept for her song and album “Born This Way.”

“I’m actually quite obsessed with unicorns. They are in essence a mythical creature so what I’m trying to say is the unicorn was born magical and it’s not the unicorn’s fault and it doesn’t make it any more or less special or any less unique but it can’t help that it was born with that magic.”:

      ReplyDelete
    124. Guys? Kimmel used ponies in a video, and the world didn't end.
SYAC mentioned ponies in a comic, and the world didn't end.
Gaga wore ponies around her neck. My prediction? The world won't end. Seriously, don't freak out.

      ReplyDelete
    125. What ToonNinja said. No need to go all Chicken Little.

      ReplyDelete
    126. reminds me of that time when stephen Colbert whipped out a scootaloo and called her pinkie pie.

and now that you mentioned it, i saw that kimmel thing and yeah, no one cared.

      ReplyDelete
    127. ಠ_ಠ My love for ponies outweighs my hatred of Ga Ga, so I'll say I don't welcome you the herd Ms.Gaga and hope you leave as on the same hell bandwagon you got on.

      ReplyDelete
    128. Uh, why was she on Idol if she likes MLP? So strange.
LOL WHATEVER WHATS A PAGE BREAK @Sethiso?

      ReplyDelete
    129. I'm not really following the music (though I hear it's very popular) but she was great on the Graham Norton show recently. Pretty quick and funny.

I'm sensing a lot of anti-Gaga grump here. The way I look at it she's got a necklace of mostly scary G3 heads and one fully-intact Rarity on the bottom so Ms Gaga (or whoever designed the outfit) clearly has good taste in Poni.

      ReplyDelete
    130. What is wrong with you guys? I'm disappointed in you, bronies.
So what if Lady gaga happens to like MLP? Even though I understand why most of you may hate her, what the hell happened to love and tolerance? And not to mention, Lady Gaga believes exactly the same thing.
I doubt she is into the fandom...most likely she is into the old MLPs.
And even if she is into FiM, i doubt the show will become extremely popular. And even even if it did, hell, I wouldn't care. I'd still love ponies.
So seriously, don't freak out just because Lady gaga may happen to like ponies. Welcome her to the fandom like you would any other brony. Just because she's popular, there is no need to hate.

TL;DR: Lady Gaga likes ponies? Deal with it

      ReplyDelete
    131. That's Cool. :D

      ReplyDelete
    132. The way I see it, the more people like ponies, the better. I don't think that the people who join the herd influence the herd as much as the herd influences them.

      ReplyDelete
    133. I don't think its any coincidence that Rarity's the only intact pony on Lady Gaga's necklace.

Rarity is a fashionista after all and Lady Gaga is a fashion icon in the real world. So I don't think it's hard to put two and two together about what kind of statement she's making.

Anyways, welcome to the herd, Lady Gaga.

      ReplyDelete
    134. I don't think a women can be a Brony...

      ReplyDelete
    135. I'm not a huge fan of her, but if she likes ponies, then she's at least 20% cooler in my eyes.

      ReplyDelete
    136. I'm sort of tired of all the spread the friendship nonsense. We are a bunch of fans who watch a show about friendship and magic and ponies. That doesn't make us priests.

But in all honesty, even though I don't care for GaGa, I don't mind too much about her being a brony. Just as long as nothing bad arises from it.

      ReplyDelete
    137. O shit were screwed, let's get weird al and Seth green on the show. And maybe were saved.

      ReplyDelete
    138. I hate myself...

      ReplyDelete
    139. Oh, would you guys just stop throwing such a hissy fit and get over yourselves? There are probably plenty of people you hate that like ponies, and if that's enough for you to deny bronydom, then you're calling the awesomeness of the show into question.

Dare you question that friendship is indeed magic???

      ReplyDelete
    140. Well, fear not guys. In the updated link Sethisto posted, she says that she:

"...was obsessed with the idea of a creature that was born with something magical that sort of made them the misfit in the world of the stallion"

That quote makes absolutely no sense in the MLP:FiM universe. Maybe it did in the 80s MLP universe, I didn't watch that...

My guess is she just wore it for the same reason she wears anything of the stuff she's infamous for...she's unbelievably batshit insane.

      ReplyDelete
    141. @Anonymous That quote makes no sense in any MLP universe. Especially since none of them were "the world of the stallion" and a stallion would actually be the misfit in any MLP universe. MLP:FiM is actually the most equality a male pony has ever seen.

The quote is essentially Gaga being Gaga and applying bullshit symbolism to whatever's popular in order to garner attention from its fanbase.

As long as I can still declare my love of ponies without someone mentioning Lady Gaga, then I honestly don't care.

      ReplyDelete
    142. I own that Rarity toy! Must scrub the shame off of her!

I felt sick to my stomach last week when she called Scottie (or was it somebody else, I forget, I was too horrified) "my little pony."

      ReplyDelete
    143. i kinda feel this like the old G3.5 ponies (representing gender stereotypes, etc.) have been beheaded and the only one with a head is G4 Rarity, who brings in the new era of ponies (challenging gender stereotypes, challenging mlp stereotypes)

      ReplyDelete
    144. Honestly, for pop, some of her earlier stuff was pretty good until she started releasing what is pretty much her previous songs with different names/lyrics and pulled an "Iron Maiden for the last 2 albums or so". She actually has admitted to be a huge attention whore, and rightfully so. I wish she would just realize that it's not a good thing to be an attention whore and cut it out.

      ReplyDelete
    145. to the people who don't realize how amazing this is:
before i start this rant, let me say that i hate gaga's work.
i need to say that because there are a lot of people out there who love what she does.
this gives her a great deal of influence over popular culture.
now, if she is openly supporting ponies, that means her fans are going to start checking it out.
the first thing you probably think when you realize this is, "Oh, great, now everyone thinks I'm here because GaGa's here."
while that may be a serious problem, the actual cause of this problem, a huge addition to the brony culture, is a great thing.
seriously, our motto is pretty much love and tolerate, live up to it
      tl;dr
      gaga has fans
gaga fans will become pony fans
more fans is never a bad thing

      ReplyDelete
    146. You know she probably just picked Rarity for her diamond cutie mark right?

      ReplyDelete
    147. Here's how I see it.

On one hand, you guys shouldn't be spreading the negativity. So what if Gaga is a brony? Does it really matter?

On the other hand, I can totally understand where those of you who disapprove of this are coming from. Nine times out of ten, when something whose following/style/genre/whatever is non-mainstream, but becomes mainstream overnight, it usually becomes a steaming pile of bullcrap. (*coughMetallicacough*)

      ReplyDelete
    148. she's still a disgusting cunt

      ReplyDelete
    149. @Mysterymeato Except that it's not "a huge addition to the brony culture", it's a huge group of people that claim to like the show because that's what their idol likes and it's the popular thing to do.

Some of them may genuinely end up liking it, and that's very good. But the majority of them are in it to fit in with whatever is deemed to be popular.

That majority will eventually move on to the next big thing, but in the meantime will be very unpleasant to deal with.

The only truly good thing that could come of this is Hasbro pumping out official merchandise to make a profit off of it.

And, of course, the worst thing that could come of it is Hasbro decides to meddle with the show to cater to that fleeting temporary fanbase. This, I hope, is not likely.

      ReplyDelete
    150. Define brony please.
Then tell us all that you hate and despise.
then review and ask yourselves. Are you Bronys?
I think there are a flock of Griffins about.

      ReplyDelete
    151. This doesn't mean anything. It would be just like her to rip apart toys and wear them on a necklace.

      ReplyDelete
    152. @Elah: Actually this necklace it was given to her as a gift from a Dutch brony. So I have no idea where do you get this rip apart from. =/

      ReplyDelete
    153. >people except furries but not LAdy Gaga in the community

Really, guys? I'm pretty sure a lot of the hipster bullshit is an elaborate joke of hers anyways, and her music is actually, well, good. She's a trained musician, and it shows if you look for it. She's put out some of the best technically and overall pop songs as of recent.

      ReplyDelete
    154. I use to be a Gaga lover, but it kinda died now 'cuz I didn't enjoy hearing her songs as much as before [meh, I tend to sing it by accident anyways]
Although so, even if she's doing it for attention, I really like her style
At least it's a little different than the usual things you see on the Red Carpet

I'm not really surprised if Lady Gaga likes FiM
Heck, even if the other celebrities do

But if LG really is a brony, then she's welcomed to join in the community any time
Even if she brought some fake bronies into the fandom, the second they watch the 1st episode, they'd be hooked

And who knows, maybe LG is lurking around as an Anon /DoubtfulStatementisTrulyDoubtful

Also my theory for the Pony necklace :
LG likes G1 ponies, then saw G3.5 and hates it
Then she saw MLP : FiM and her love for ponies was alive again. Loved the G4 ponies especially Rarity
So, this is what she gets :
      Wear a necklace + beheaded G3.5 ponies + G4 Rarity with bloodied horn = FiM/G4 pwning G3.5

[If this even made sense > . >;;]

      ReplyDelete
    155. You guys sound like a bunch of 4th graders.
"OMG A WEIRDO GIRL LIKES WHAT I LIKE! I HAVE COOTIES NOW!"

Also, Gaga is not a brony. She's got a thing for unicorns and so fans are throwing unicorn toys on stage, which she has obviously collected and made into a necklace. She's showing her love for her fans and unicorns, not for MLP or FIM specifically.

      ReplyDelete
    156. Seriously, everypony, where'd all this hatred come from? We have to love and tolerate the shit out of everypony, brony or no brony, popular or not popular, and weird or not weird. There's no need to be angry and bitter towards somepony for MINIMALLY changing how something we all like is viewed. I'm rather disappointed.

      ReplyDelete
    157. okay, to sum the comments and more importantly, the facts(?) up:

      COMMENTS:
-I dont like Gaga, FiM becomes 20% less cool.
-I like Gaga, FiM becomes 20% cooler
-Moralhooves (Neologism for Bronies who remind us of what "Brony" stands for.)

      FACTS?:
-Lady Gaga obviously wears this necklace
-In this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHbEMgYXH0U#t=01m26s it seems like she doesnt even know that this unicorn is called Rarity
      - http://www.bruno.nl/nieuws/8938/pics-lady-gaga-krijgt-een-mooi-aandenken-van-jeroen.html If you understand dutch (or german) you could understand what stands there. Apparently, there was this male-fan of Gagas who gave the necklace to her. He is also Arts Major.

      MY THEORY:
The dutch young man thought that giving Ms. Gaga this present would be the perfect chance to make FiM more popular. I guess he must be a brony too. Also, its quite funny how Gaga wears Rarity, who stands for diva-ism BUT brilliancy. This could be a coincidence though.

I welcome her fans to our herd. But I dont think she herself is a brony. She just did it because it fits her "insane outfits" well.

Also, a little bit critique for the "OMG new people who like it only because the gaga >:( "
You ever heard about people changing and learning about stuff they like? I first heard about FiM in a Raidthread on /b/, others might have discovered it via friends or a tweet. You really shouldnt generalize people. The more the merrier. Accept everyone. Love everyone. Resistance is futile.

      ReplyDelete
    158. I refuse to call myself a brony because it's a guy's term. :\
On another note, that's kind of cool, unless she's just doing it cause it's a trend...

      ReplyDelete
    159. I litteraly contemplated not being a brony after reading this. I hate GaGa soooo much...

...she's like a male version of Bieber to me. Now, if Chester from Linkin Park became a brony, however...

      ReplyDelete
    160. @Anonymous
      Aww God, Linkin Park.

      ReplyDelete
    161. I'm so confused as to why people hate Gaga so much. I mean, I can understand a dislike for pop music in general, but even if you hate pop, she's kind of the best of the worst. She's also a crusader for human rights, and /delightfully/ bizarre. Would you really take a second Kesha over someone who wears meat dresses? Pop is inevitable, we might as well at least have bizarre and intersting pop.

      ReplyDelete
    162. Something inside of me just died..

I can't believe someone so obnoxious as "Lady Gaga" would watch MLP FiM, well I do not believe it, I simply think she's trying to make the Japanese decora-fashion her own. Heck, she destroyed the poor fillies.

She's not getting any positive feedback from me if she thinks she can be part of a community with REAL fans. I bet she just wants the attention, maybe even from young kids.

She's a complete attention addict, but still she didn't want to speak a word with a fans back when she visited my country, rather she ignored them totally!

      ReplyDelete
    163. @Anonymous
Bohoo, if you had the guts you wouldn't go anonymous and then taunt everybody for not liking a lame singer, who's only a celeb for wanting attention.

      Yup Imma hypocrite :)

      ReplyDelete
    164. she is definitely a brony, she even follows MLP on twitter!

      ReplyDelete
    165. @Anonymous

I think we can all agree that celebrity spokepersons leads us all to disasters, like Jenny McCarthy, and her "I killed the Autism in my kid, you can too!"-schtick. A cute six year old, cousin of mine is getting put through HELL because that HELL might FIX him, never mind the fact he was never properly socialized, and his parents don't entirely want him.

It's great she support human rights, but until she goes to Bangkok, and Asia and tries to do something about the child sex slave trade, I think she's still a f*&&>* poser.

So yeah, give me some Kesha because I'm not sure I could live being preached to 24/7 listening to Mme. GooPooPoo.

      ReplyDelete
    166. come on bronies, Lady Gaga is like an IRL Pinkie Pie+Rarity.

She's got all the spunk and weirdness of Pinkie and Rarity's fashion skills.

    167. @Vopogon Me too I hate Lady gaga too.

    169. the internet hate machine at its best... a community which is based on a show about friendship, acceptance and other stuff like that and we're all pulling the piss out of Lady GaGa. i'm not a huge fan of her, but i know that she's not as bad as Ke$ha.

      ReplyDelete
    170. ^Except that Ke$ha doesn't claim to be ~original~ or ~avant garde~ or ~high fashion~ like this one. She's more a Trixie than anything else. I'll only tolerate her, she gets no love!

      ReplyDelete
    171. You guys are way to serious. Really.

I wish people would just sit back and remember, that we are, indeed, watching a kids show. I personally don;t think it's anything to whine about.

The fact a good portion of you all are bawling and raging your eyes and mouths out is kind of sad. As several actually smart beings have said already, "I'm a bit ashamed to call myself a brony now after reading these comments,"

Kay. So she's got a pony necklace. Cool. If she's actually a brony, than great. Welcome to the herd, Mother Monster. If this is just a way to grasp some more attention by the press and get the different crowds of people to look into what she's doing? Then CLEARLY it has worked. Love her or hate her, she's gotten a response. And that is what keeps her famous. All the anti-Gaga people are doing is helping her out.

I know I'm probably repeating what some others on here have said. But I'm just a little saddened by how much hate is in a fandom about friendship and acceptance.

      ReplyDelete
    172. I think it was probably just a toy or another of her weird getups, not a signal that she's a Brony. If she is, welcome to the Herd! I'm just really skeptical.

To the Bronies: Stop hating. You might hate her music and I'm not a fan myself, but you have to love and tolerate people you don't like. It's strange that you assumed she's a Brony based on one necklace and then started saying you're going to stop watching the show and raging. She's probably not a Brony, and if she is you should welcome her. K? K.

      ReplyDelete
    173. it was a gift from one of her fansdidnt catch the whole story (my mom just screamed heey there is a brony in the show) but apperently the fan thanked her for something then gave her this necklace as a gift and she actually wore it and offerd him a job... not sure if gaga is a brony... she might be... or she might just like the necklace...

      ReplyDelete
    174. I don't really care. If she continues to walk around with it, then it means something. Until that happens, then I don't see why you're hating on her yet, I thought we were a community of acceptance and friendship and tolerance?

      ReplyDelete
    175. Idk about you guys but I think this is really cool, I have alot more respect for her as a person.

I also thought it was cool that one of her music videos was taken from a scene in a manga I used to read as a kid, Jojo's bizarre adventure.

Never really a fan of her music at all but she seems like a cool creative person, I like people like that.

      ReplyDelete
    176. she's still a disgusting cunt
