• Community Spotlight: Yaridovich Synchtube

Way back in December, when the pony craze was slowly starting to build up on 4chan, a brony named Yaridovich created a channel over on a fledgling youtube streaming website called Synchtube.

The channel has been going strong, 24/7, streaming both pony episodes and various PMV's.   You will almost always find 20+ people in the chat, all discussing ponies and generally having a good time.

I know a lot of you newer bronies probably haven't been exposed to it yet. Give it a shot! It's especially fun on new episode day when everyone fangasms over every little detail.

(Due to overcrowding, the link has been deleted for now!)

      I like both, actually. <3

    3. It's really a shame, since Yaridovich is nothing more than a creepy manchild.

    4. 2000cookies is actually a 12 year old Californian kid. We're glad he doesn't try to come here anymore.

    7. Back when I discovered ponies back in mid-January, I spent a lot of time in Yari's synchtube. Good times man, Good times.

I'll have you newbies know, the SECRET BUTT FUN meme (I guess you could call it that) got its start in that synchtube.

      >mfw I started it.
Admittedly though, I was not the one who put the extra T on BUT.

Stop using a shit browser then.

    11. cant wait for the stream to become diluted by either shitty discussion, too many people, or both. oh well

      ReplyDelete
    12. Aaaaaaand the stream is smashed full.

      ReplyDelete
    13. Yeah, I don't think the sudden burst of newfoals is going to be very well met.

      ReplyDelete
    14. @2000cookies >MFW everyones talking about Filly's synchtube in this thread about yari's synchtube.

      ReplyDelete
    15. Can we be open minded when it comes to the newer folks?

      ReplyDelete
    16. @2000cookies
Yeah, Filly's room is way better.

      ReplyDelete
    17. @2000cookies
Tbh, I tend to hop between the two channels depending on what's showing and who's on at the moment.

      ReplyDelete
    18. I prefer Yari's, since I mod there.

      ReplyDelete
    19. There's also IsaacShark's room, which is nice as well. :) Got a lot of bronies in there too.

      ReplyDelete
    20. filly's room is better ^_^

and it's not just cause i'm a mod there.

    21. WHY SETH WHY
      YOU'RE BLOWING UP SYNCHTUBE

      ReplyDelete
    22. I asked him yesterday. He said it was cool!

Anyway I'm at work ill delete this if you guys want.

      ReplyDelete
    23. I think it's hilarious that if you google synchtube, the second and third results are both pony-related.

      ReplyDelete
    24. And with the influx of bronies it's full and i can't get a connection. darn it.

      ReplyDelete
    25. Well, synchtube is a relatively new site, and to be honest really can't handle this much traffic at once. It should be fine after a few hours or so.

      ReplyDelete
    26. I hung out on that synchtube when it first popped up in fall last year, since all the livestreams were getting reported and closed we had to move somewhere else. Thanks Yari!

      ReplyDelete
    27. There is no need to delete this, Sethisto. It's a good thing you're doing (I think!)

However, there is something to note about Yaridovich's channel. The channel is more lax about the rules (such as allowing... questionable content), and because of that I fear new foals will get a rude awakening. This room isn't for everyone!

Understand that both Filly's and Yaridovich's rooms cater to different fans, but there is no need to bash each other. In the end, we're all bronies.

      ReplyDelete
    28. Yari's room has a limit so it's fine. Synchtube isn't being any more fucked up than usual.

    30. Flood of newfoals and people hating on Yaridovich and our Synchtube channel.
      Thanks, Seth. -_-

      ReplyDelete
    31. THANKS A LOT E.D.! :( I used to like going to this group but now it's maxed out. Care to ruin any other things I like?

      ReplyDelete
    32. Neither room is better, they're just different.

      ReplyDelete
    33. What the Anon above me said. Yari's channel isn't against poni r34, while (as far as I know) the Filly channel is. Also, Yari's room has a tendency to show other things besides poni between episodes.

One isn't better than the other. They're just different.

      ReplyDelete
    34. @Anonymous

Goodness yes. I don't know that everypony would enjoy Bear Force One between episodes, but IMHO, I can't imagine why you wouldn't. XD

      ReplyDelete
    35. Filly's room has more people on average :/

      ReplyDelete
    36. @Filly

I've been thinking about this, and I know it might be a complete waste of energy and time, but I think we could all benefit from this. I got the idea while looking over the statistics for how much ppl are donating to japan just for some original concept arts.

What if we bronies got together and donated some money to the guys at synchtube? I was planning on doing this myself, but synchtube doesn't have a "donate" function. It's a relatively new site and I know that the ponies are straining their servers.

We have synchtube to thank for some great memes like "Make a Mare out of you" and "Secret Butt Fun." I personally accredit the pony channels in synchtube for introducing me to the moonbase meme, which is my favorite to date.

I think the guys over at synchtube deserve some brony love, and what could show this more than a few small donations to help them keep their servers alive and kicking while ponies dominate the channels 24/7?

Just my humble opinion, take it or leave it.

      ReplyDelete
    37. @mbulsht

I've tried to email the synchtube guys about such a donation thing. So far, no response.

      ReplyDelete
    38. @mbulsht

That's a good idea, and I'm sure they'd appreciate it. Hell, on more than one occasion, I've seen the admin of synchtube come into Yari's channel, and he's thanked us for helping to make his site more popular.

      ReplyDelete
    39. Pork and Fish both have pony livestreams. They aren't 24/7, but they're advertised repeatedly in the /b/ pony thread when they are active.

      ReplyDelete
    40. @Filly

perhaps they don't truly understand how strong the love of a brony can be

I for one would be willing to dig deep to help them keep those servers up.

      ReplyDelete
    41. Not to sound like an oldfriend here, but I remember when I went to this stream almost everyday in late January, and it was the same 10 or 20 people. It's gotten so crowded now, and it never seems to dip below 30 people. It's great to see it growing, but I miss the smaller groups of people.

      ReplyDelete
    42. >>mfw we were only 8 yesterday.
I visit both Yari and IsaacShark's synchtubes.

      ReplyDelete
    43. @Poultron
That's the dangers related to overexposing something...

Too much ''spot''-light on something and it will surely crash and burn... or the other way around (Rarity reference).

But seriously... I remember the good 'ol days on Yari's when you could have a decent Pony Conversation, throw a few theories, and people would theorize too for a while before returning to the videos... (sigh)... Good 'ol days.

Now it's almost always 30-40 people and no one really sit and have nice quiet talks anymore. The ransom of fame, I guess, or something.

Good thing they have Secondary and Tertiary channels... Much calmer.

      ReplyDelete
    44. We may have a tiny problem.

My channel is now too crowded, me and some of the mods can't enter it. If synchtube mod doesn't make a thing for mods to bypass soon, you may have to delete this link, Seth.

    46. Aside from the fact that synchtube cannot handle so much bronies, just don't. JUST DON'T start that fucking oldfag/newfag stuff here, too.

That's one thing what killed the 4chan community: Not letting others join their circle, forcing them into their own, which led to "SEE MY DOUBLES" and /soc/.

Yes, /b/ was never good, but also not worse.

      ReplyDelete
    47. I take issue with a few of these comments. Why all the hate? C'mon bronies, we're all about the love and tolerance.

      Be happy for Yaridovich.

      ReplyDelete
    48. all you people saying Fillys room is better then Yari's have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

our more Lax rules make the channel simply more fun.

though I do miss the old days when we had less people and we all knew each other.

also Filly's room would likely not even exist if if Yari's room had never started up.

      ReplyDelete
    49. Yari's channel is a great resource for all things pony. Friendship is magic so the other channels are also good.

      ReplyDelete
    50. I think it's silly to argue over which channel is best.
It all comes down to personal preference, anyway.
Let's have some love and tolerance, yeah?

      ReplyDelete
    51. Couple of tips for any new synchtubers:

      1. Use Chrome. It may not be the best browser, but it's the one that works best with the site.

      2. Name yourself. A couple of users have expressed their concerns about chatting with someone identified as 'unnamed' in the past. Even if you don't want to register, you can simply change your name by clicking on the sidebar. If you can't be bothered thinking up an identity, you can always use unnamed*. Just make sure that someone can talk to you. It is a chat room.

      3. Links are rarely labelled 'NSFW'.

      4. If you want to watch a video, use the 'watch later' function. Clicking on the title will pause the video for everyone.

And that's all I got now.

      ReplyDelete
    52. ^ I can add one to that.

If you have a slow connection, change the synchronization time under synch settings to a higher number.

      ReplyDelete
    53. 1. The "confound these ponies, they drive me to _____" meme comes from Synchtube.

      2. I'm actually part of the reason the Synchtube exists. Yaridovich's livestream kept dying. I showed him Synchtube and how it worked, and he got excited. He rewarded me by not banning me no matter how much people in the room hated me.

..Could you please mention that in

      ReplyDelete
    54. @Taco Wiz
Is that a sad cry for attention?

      ReplyDelete
    55. Anyone else see the huge irony in people from the synch getting mad at new foals when it comes to watching a show about friendship and acceptance?

      P.S. I'm a usual at the synch.

      ReplyDelete
    56. Yari's synchtube is actually where I discovered ponies in the first place. Kept seeing loads of grown men watching it on synchtube, decided to ask them what all the fuss was about, and started watching it.

      ReplyDelete
    57. Wow, seriously? Are we going to sit here and argue about something as trivial as a synchtube channel? Forgive me for saying this, but this is beginning to look an awful lot like the wars we have over at 4chan.

I joined this community because I was entranced by the Love and Tolerance many of its member preached on a daily basis. I wanted to believe that there was somewhere, anywhere, on the internet where I could go and not be called names, or have someone question my intelligence with offensive language.

People log on to synchtube every day to enjoy a kids television show with gleeful childlike abandon. They talk about it, they discuss it, and they welcome newcomers with a rousing and warm "Welcome to the Herd!" There really is no community like this one. And it should come as no surprise that I and many others would like to keep it this way. Please please PLEASE do not let this blog post and its resulting string of comments ruin that.

Yes, there are horribly annoying parasprites in every community. Yes, there are trolls from /b/ who come to laugh at us and question our sexuality. But we should remain steadfast! We should laugh at them, bombard them with love and peace, not revert to our old ways of hiding behind the dubious anonymity of the internet and taking potshots at eachother.

This is a warning. A tad dramatic, I admit, but truthful all the same. I do not wish to see this community cave to mediocrity like all the other internet communities before it. I want to see it grow and thrive, brimming with friendship and tolerance. If we continue along this path of bickering and name-calling, we run the risk of closing our doors to newcomers. They will see us and be afraid to join. We will become a exclusive niche community, and the Herd will no longer grow. And we know what will happen when the Herd halts its growth.

      The Herd dies.

So let's cheer up, all of you.

TL;DR: Arguing about synchtube channels and calling eachother names is pointless and it makes Fluttershy cry. We don't want to make Fluttershy cry, right?

      ReplyDelete
    58. @Anonymous

Ayup. I sympathise with them to an extent, but you can't just rely on the same 15-20 people all the time.

      ReplyDelete
    59. @Taco Wiz
      1. "Confound these ponies" comes from an image macro on /co/. We started watching Dover Boys because of the macro, not the other way around.

      2. No one cares, and you are an attention whore. And that "no ban" thing was never true, and yes everyone hates you. Yeah, yeah, "where's the friendship" and all that, I've given up hope on Taco a long time ago.

I'm just asking for a brief mention since I never get anything in life. I was the one who told Yarido about Synchtube. Considering the bullying and death threats I have to put up with in real life, can't I be thrown a bone like A TEENY TINY mention on a My Little Pony blog?
