ReplyDeleteOf them all in my current bracket, I would find absolutely nothing wrong if I were to lose to this story! The music and the mood effects were a VERY clever touch and, I must say, it made the story PERFECT. Great, GREAT job with it-- I hope it goes far.
It might be a good idea to have a 'second chance' poll between the stories that come in 2nd in the various groups.

ReplyDeleteI endorse this idea. I simply cannot pick one of two or more great stories from the same bracket without being mentally divided, so this is a good game plan.
So...anyone got any opinions on the strongest/weakest bracket? Personally, I'm gonna have a lot of trouble deciding who to vote for in rounds two and six.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have a feeling the bracket I'm in will be pretty close (#1). All five of the stories there have totally different tones...should be interesting.
That's a horrible way of deciding.
ReplyDeleteI actually have a complaint about the round set-up. I think the voting times should actually be extended to 24 hours each.
ReplyDeleteThis is why: Consider different timezones. People are going to sleep/work/whatever else in combination and possibly completely miss out on the chance to vote. That's why most posts and events tend to end in 24 hours, not 12. That way, everyone would have a chance to vote daily.
I realize it would take longer but it's a more fair way of deciding. Obviously someone whose round is running while the world sleeps is going to have less chance of getting ahead.
Opinions?
ahh, I was just hoping to slip quietly into the crowd with my dumb half-baked thing; I just used this as an opportunity to finally kick myself into writing a fanfic at all, as I've been wanting to. Now it's gonna be even more embarrassing!
ReplyDeleteReally, there are loads of awesome, really great fics in this. I've only read a few and skimmed through a few more, but several I've seen are good enough to easily deserve a prize of some sort. I'm actually very glad this gives an opportunity for more than just one fic to "win" in a way, and I wish the best of luck upon everypony.

ReplyDeleteI tend to agree. 24 hours would be easier to deal with, though I do realize that would stretch this event over a week.
I'm also not quite sold on the whole round structure. It's fine for selecting the winner, but not so great for identifying runners up. Which isn't to say I have a better idea, aside from a giant poll (and I'm gonna need a few days to finish these all -- I'm only a third done yet!)
I'll modify it some when I get home. I'm still at work.

ReplyDeleteLike, maybe the first place stories could get their own posts and all of the second place stories get one post together? Iunno. I just figure it'd suck for someone to come in second and get completely ignored. There's a lot of talented work their.

ReplyDeleteI was going to give each poll section it's own post to discuss it during the poll. I figured this might give those 5 stories some air time, then the winner would get it's own post for ultimate air time.
I really didn't think people would be this interested in it. I expected only a few entries. I wish I could give every one a post, but having 46 separate story posts would be the same as having them all in one spot anyhow just due to how spammed it would be.
Interesting... I can't wait for tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteI propose that there be a wild card entry! Who's ever story was the most voted on (by actual numbers, not percentages of the section active at the time) which DID NOT win would also be in the final analysis.
In my opinion this should be the "wild card" entry.
Of course it's your blog. You run it as you see fit.
