• Artist Spotlight: Starrypon / Blindcoyote / Muffinexplosion / AnticularPony / Nayshi-Erol / Lachasseauxhiboux

Heya gang! Are you ready for a dose of art today? I know it's been awhile since the last spotlight so today we've got six artists for you all to check out! I'm also hoping that after convention season that these will be coming more frequently so stay tuned (I know, I've said that how many times now?).

As usual, these posts are in similar style to the Tumblr Spotlights, a group of 3-5 artists will be spotlit each entry along with a small short description along with a small selection of their artwork! In order to make this feature work though we need people to suggest artists to us so make sure to send artists you think need some exposure to calpain@equestriadaily.com. Please also include a short biography I can work with as well as what medium you work in most.

What sort of artists count? Suggestions should follow these criteria:

    • No clop or extensive gore galleries as those typically violate our content guidelines. If the artist has a safe for work gallery separate from their not safe for work stuff they or their fans can submit the safe for work gallery. If there is a mix of SFW/NSFW on a gallery the decision whether or not to include them will be judged on a gallery to gallery basis.
    • Don't be afraid to spotlight yourself as well as others!
    • Artists of all types accepted -vector, OC, traditional, digital. As long as it is pony and of quality it has a chance of being spotlit.
    Now on to the artists!

    Starrypon

First up today is a rather new face to the pony scene and boy are we glad to have her! Starrypon specializes in a very clean and crisp borderless style, utilizing a look for her ponies that make them look sleeker and sharper at corners as she combines them with lovely bright pastel coloring. Check out some examples below and drop by her page to give her a thumbs up!

    Blindcoyote

Our next artist is a bit different from our first as he delves more into the realm of digital painting, producing sweeping pony pieces with the flick of his digital brush! Blind's work has a hazy, surreal like quality as is common with painted work which lends itself well to darker colored pieces, especially ones concerning Luna or rainy settings. Check him out if you want a nice mix of cute and serious pony combined with a painted feel.

    Muffinexplosion

Next up is an artist I'm proud to include in here due to the amount of progress they have made in the short time they've been in the fandom and the fact they were inspired by fandom artists to pick up a pencil themselves! Some of you might know Muffin from his lovable Derpy comics that make it here on EqD, with their cute and simple style. Not only does he do comics, but he does a wonderful job with digital solo pics as well, capturing some pretty cool looking scenes.

    AnticularPony

While our artists today have mostly focused on character pieces our next artist is a skilled artisan of both characters, backgrounds, and lighting which creates scenes that feel real and organic. Anticular uses a painted style like Blind, but combines it with digital lighting effects that really bring scenes to life in amazing ways.

    Nayshi-Erol

Lots of artists that do digital painting this time around! Our next artist, Nayshi, may use messier strokes than some of the other digital painters in our gallery today, but it doesn't make her work any less rich. Utilizing softer and more muted colors than the others on this list her pieces tend to have a more mellow tone to them, making for some really good melancholy pieces when rain is used for instance. It's a style that works very well for singular portraits too as the muted colors of the ponies work very well with the faded backgrounds she uses.

    Lachasseauxhiboux

Last but not least on our list today is a unique digital artist whose digital lines and inkings are so well done I very well mistook some of them for traditional pieces. Lachasse specializes in the normal and the unique, designing some amazing looking original ponies as well as sketches of ponies we know and love. Whether it be in color or stark black and white, Lachasse knows how to pull of pieces that can grab your attention.
