Oh, and lets not jump to any conclusions guys and gals. It's a synopsis. These have led us astray before. It's also a MASSIVE implication of Twilight actually getting extensive development of her past and her family, which I can only imagine will be great to see happen, since the mane six actually have very minimal backstory beyond their cutiemark stories.
The real question here whether or not he is the younger or older sibling, and what the hell a "wedding shocker" is. I imagine pony weddings don't exactly follow the same traditions as traditional christian white gown and alter affairs. And rejoice fellow fans! Canonical shipping is revived! I can only imagine the conflict between Twilight and Shining's fiance. This is the only episode besides Hearts and Hooves Day that will almost CERTAINLY have to address romantic relationship issues, and since "not all is rainbows and butterflies" this time around, I predict a VERY intriguing finale to cap off the season on an upswing high-note.
Color me intrigued and eager. Now its a waiting game...

I'm just gonna stick with my "wait-and-see" approach so I don't end up getting my expectations way too high. Either way, it's a two parter, and that means there is probably going to be a bigger bomb being dropped that will steal everyone's attention from Shining Armour's family ties.

(Potential spoilers if I'm right!)
So, Twilight's brother marries a princess and BAM, Twilight becomes royalty through her brother's marriage. She's offered to live in Canterlot (or whatever city Cadence is from) and has to choose between living with her friends or her family.
THAT would definitely justify a 2-parter.
I can only imagine the in-universe reaction to Twilight having a brother.

If that's the route they're gonna go down, that has potential to make Shining Armour's debut scene pretty emotional. The whole fact that an important member of the family has come home after being away serving the country and putting his own life on the line will probably resonate among viewers who know what that's like.
Plus there's an increased chance that there will be angry Dragons and hostile monsters, and who doesn't love some action?

What intrigues me more is that Twilight's uncovering a shocking something about the wedding (she remembers that she actually has no brother, ITS A TRAP!). I remember them saying something about there begin a new villain coming up. Also since Lauren Faust was involved with the episodes story this could go off a lot better then it looks like.

This fandom needs to stop imploding every time something happens that runs contrary to its preferred narrative. The episode hasn't even aired yet, and people are already declaring the show ruined forever based on a blurb that lacks any real context.

ReplyDeletewedding gets interrupted by villain (hopefully discord), cadence gets kidnapped
shining armor+main6 go to rescue her, cue explanation on why we haven't seen shining armor (maybe he was at the royal knight's academy?), and why twilight hasn't mentioned him before
they defeat villain
either:
a. wedding goes as planned
b. shining and cadence break up because they figure out that they don't love each other, or that cadence turns out to be a fake
c. heck if I know
for some reason shining armor just looks/seems to be an uptight sexist jerk, like believing that it's the man's job to do everything, if this is true it should be an interesting clash with the show's predominant feminist vibe, moral is that women are just as good as men

The only people who should be upset at this concept are the people who have really good fan fics that are gonna be jossed by it. Otherwise if it's just an inconvenience to your headcanon, meh, I'd say it's not a big deal.
ReplyDeletePrincess Cadence being an alicorn herself however presents a bit of a mythology-screw as far as we know. Considering Lauren Faust only ever intended two Alicorns, it makes sense we be more... cautious regarding her presence.
But as for this particular spoiler, I don't care either way. I'm just interested to see how it all plays out really.

One, it has that little creasing you get just after paper comes out of some printers.
Two, the whole thing looks too flat to be bound the way most magazines are.
Note: none of the above is conclusive evidence of anything. The source could've scanned the TV Guide into his computer and photosh-err, I mean printed the image directly from there.

ReplyDeleteThe synopsis says nothing about Cadence's presence actually being in the episode. All we know is that Shining Armour is getting married to somepony, and that he is Twilight's brother.
I don't know how to feel about this... I just hope it's epic. I want it to be great like that Gala. It doesn't have to get crazy though.

Aw man, I liked it better with Twilight as an only child. She seems more suited that way since she grew up so socially awkward and all and usually people with older siblings turn out more like Applejack, used to being around people and interacting with others. But then again there is the theory that Twilight was raised by Celestia after being hoof picked by her. I still say it seems like it was originally intended for her to be an only child in the Cutie Mark Chronicles episode, but whatever. I'll get used to the idea of her having an older brother.
