Well, Applejack, it was an impressive run, but it looks like Fluttershy will reassert her position as best pony.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Iron Will, doesn't do anything halfway. Promoting your self-help-book by making Fluttershy assertive, that's like proving you have the best tanning bed by selling it to a Saudi.
Thirdly, that final look on her face was adorable it turned my Diet Coke into regular Coke.
In conclusion: Fluttershy episode, and it's going to be amazing!

ReplyDeleteIt could've been an episode idea that was left over from Fausts, Jaysons,etc's last major meeting.
Maybe she had an idea for a slimier episode and Jayson and the team decided to execute it. That along with the fact that a character is showing something off on stage.

the outcome of this episode is pretty clear. though if she doesn't actually act out of character, then I'll be happy to watch. Otherwise, I'll shut up and stay clear of it. if only this would work both ways...

I should really stop watching these previews. 'Cause then I get psyched to see the episode to the point where I lose sleep. Who knows in what direction Fluttershy will ultimately go. But there's no doubt the episode is gonna deliver the usual awesomeness.

@Firespikez Fluttershy's personality is exactly why she's my favorite. It just works for her, and I really can't see her any other way. Sure, there was the gala, and I think soon we'll be able to add this one. But anyone can be driven to the point where they totally lose it, and Fluttershy is definitely no exception. I think it's a guarantee that she'll be out of character in this episode, but I highly doubt she'll be casting away her timid personality. Sure, she's gained some steam this season, but she definitely hasn't lost it, and I don't think she ever will.

This Ep can go one of two ways.
ReplyDelete1. Fluttershy becomes TOO assertive and drives everyone away from her, and must then be taught tact with her assertiveness.
2. After failing lessons in assertiveness over and over, Fluttershy will be dejected. A more dangerous creature will appear, revealing Iron Will as a big-talking coward. Fluttershy will use her newfound assertiveness to deal with it.
If Hasbro Takes A Third Option and surprises me, I'll be even more excited.

ReplyDeleteI just took another looksee at the clip, focusing on the audio this time. One thing I didn't notice until this time was Fluttershy's leitmotif began to play as she started apologizing to the goat, but then got overrode by Iron Will's more aggressive soundtrack as he interrupted her. From that point, his track remained dominant, and when Fluttershy began began aggressive too, the music turned to a slightly softer, yet still aggressive beat. I liked that kind of attention to detail.

ReplyDeleteWell she had a very good reason for being out of character in TRoH of course, that was part of the drama of the situation. I did think that Discorded Fluttershy was funny, but I kind of see her as almost a separate character from the normal Fluttershy. I'm not sure how things are going to play out in this episode, though it does seem that Iron Will doesn't have Fluttershy's best interests in mind here and is taking advantage of her.
In any case though, different people enjoy the show in different ways. You shouldn't let others enjoying seeing Fluttershy act differently from her normal shy and kind self sometimes bother you, and it's not really fair to accuse them of not liking the real her because of that.

@HMorris73 I get picked on by my IRL brony "friends" for liking Fluttershy. they all think she's the worst and all, and then when Flutterbitch appeared they all liked that version instead. *sigh* just like they prefer Pinkamena, seeing AJ getting tortured to death, and Twilight turning crazy/raping everyone or whatever. every time one of em acts out of character, I get reminded of the atrocities those so called "bronies" enjoy.

Just because someone likes to see what happens when the ponies pushed to their breaking points sometimes (or get their whole personalities magically warped in the case of TRoH) doesn't mean they don't appreciate their true selves.

ReplyDeleteWell I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with them, but people like that are a minority in brony communities as far as I've seen. The sweet and kind Fluttershy is still very popular, and like DPV111 said while we may dabble in all sorts of fanon the canon show is usually central.

I really don’t like the idea of Fluttershy being mean at all; this is what you get when Lauren Faust isn’t fully in control of the episodes anymore I guess. ReplyDeleteMy point was Fluttershy got pretty mean in that episode. The Return of Harmony also had a lot of influence from Lauren Faust even if it's technically season 2 (it was originally going to be the season 1 finale).
As for your cousins, seriously what? Season 2 is still perfectly kid friendly, and it's certainly not of lower quality than season 1 over all.
