The abridged series, Camaraderie is Supernatural, is seeking some brony musicians, check out the copy paste below:
Me and the others on the Camaraderie is Supernatural crew are looking for some help from any Brony musician/remixer willing to take up the cause. We've written a translated version of the awesome Italian theme with the intention of making it the new theme song for CIS, but we don't have an instrumental track to go with it. And since no one else has one and our own attempts to make one have failed, we turn to the brony community in the hopes that someone can lend a hand by composing a new instrumental from scratchAnd the video here!

ReplyDeleteTHAT is exactly the reason why I don't agree with Derpy being edited. It's not about censorship, and it's not because Derpy is my favorite character, because she isn't.
The fact that they changed Derpy BECAUSE she too closely resembled a 'disabled' pony, and some audiences were 'offended' by it.
Being offended by a 'disabled' character in a show and having them change that character because of it, is the exact opposite of love and tolerance. In this case, they aren't exactly loving or tolerating individuals who have certain issues or disabilities.
A note: When I first saw Derpy in The Last Round-up episode, and heard her talk, I was immediately reminded of someone with a mental handicap. But I was not offended by it at all, and I thought it was a cute addition, especially since I made friends with some heavily disabled individuals when I was in elementary and middle school. Nobody else wanted to be their friend.
Again, I'm not mad they changed Derpy because it's Derpy. I'm mad they changed Derpy because it's being intolerant of the idea of having disabled ponies in their show, even though such individuals are everywhere in our own real-life society.
For me, the Derpy scene was like a precious gift that was given to us- something incredibly special. Just think, an animated show actually included the mascot fan-character that the community created after a funny derp'ed up background character from the beginning of the show. Yes, not only did they turn her into an awesome Easter egg, which is thrilling in of itself, but then they gave her an adorably clumsy mother bucking CAMEO! That blew me away! I was overjoyed, shocked, and wonderfully surprised by that turn of events. The warm and fuzzy feeling that filled up inside me overflowed towards the community and towards the amazing team behind MLP FIM. To kids the appearance of Derpy was funny, silly, and downright entertaining (Think of Ed from Ed Edd n Eddy), but to us Bronys is was something extra extra special. I was forever thankful for this simply amazing thing that had been given to us.
ReplyDeleteThen. Then our gift was ripped from our very arms, tossed aside, and replaced by some pathetic and disappointing excuse. There was absolutely no reason to do this except it was the result of incredibly ignorant people. I can go on a long rant about what "Derp" really means, about what a funny and clumsy character she represents, and so much more, but I hope by now you all have heard and understood.
I'm just incredibly disappointed by this outcome. I was given a car, had it burning in front of me, and then replaced with a Hot Wheels. When I acted upset by this sudden and unexpected turn of events, other fans told people like me to "stop being such whining bitches it doesn't matter" and that hurt. because it mattered to me. But I'm past it now, and I accept what has happened, but it will not change this lingering disappointment I still have.
Thats why i wanted to save Derpy. Not because "WAAAAH Hasbro is a big meanie and changed Derpy what dumb-butts Imma complain to them Waaaaah!" NO. No, it was because Derpy was OURS. Derpy was something special I had NEVER seen in another show before.
I only hope they will be able to continue making Derpy a Easter egg character, because she will always be our sweet, lovable, silly, clumsy, crossed-eyed mare that we all know and love.
Anywho, I saw that video of Derpy on tumblr this morning, and it made me tear up. Not because of the "cheesy music" or the "sad sorry" but it was because I could see her as an actual character, hurt and confused for why she couldn't be herself. It was sweet :)

ReplyDeleteI've always been in at least slight denial about being a fan of My Little Pony. Scared to tell my mother or my friends straight out that I like the show, and most of the time just saying, "Well, I LIKE it... I mean, it's a good show..."
But you know what?
I love talking with fellow bronies.

Most of all, I love our dear, beloved Derpy Hooves. And I wish her all the best.
The second Derpy vid made me want to hug her !!! I thing that the vid would have more impact if it just cut off at 0:35. After that, it gets a little drawn out and overly melodramatic. Try hitting stop at 0:35 and you'll see what I mean. Stopping there will cause this video to rip your heart out.

ReplyDeleteI love the dead island theme, I use it all the time in video production class, it has a rising, uplifting development throughout the song. Makes me feel like Derpy's going to pull out of this one on top!

ReplyDeleteNo matter how much she changes or doesn't change Ill always remember her. She actually reminds me of me. Very different and clumsy only shes much more adorable. That save derpy vid made me cry. Im still going to wait to see what happens. But Ill love her regardless of what happens. There is tons of awesome fanart and fanfiction to make us all smile about her :)

ReplyDeleteOk, I wasn't going to say anything about this, until I saw the little fan made video of Derpy talking and crying, which really did break my heart. To all of you out there who got offended by Derpy's speaking role, I only have two things to say. 1. It's a cartoon. And 2. Grow the fuck up! If you have nothing better to do then to drive a steak through the heart of a character that is loved by so many of us weather it's a fanfic version or the show version of her, then please by all means, stop breathing my air.
ReplyDeleteNow, that having been said, I admit I got a little upset about Derpy turning out the way she did when I saw her in "The Last Roundup" because that wasn't how I thought Derpy should be. However, I do understand that many different people will see her in different ways, and if all you people are gonna do it just bitch and moan and complain about something because you have nothing better to do. Let me repeat myself. Stop breathing my air and do the rest of us who love Derpy a favor.
Derpy is my #1 favorite pony because of a certain special fanfic (My Sweetie). So when Derpy comes under attack I feel I must defend her honor, so to speak. A lot of us fans think that Derpy should continue to be on center stage with the rest of the cast because of the following she has obtained, and I for one hope that she stays there.

ReplyDeleteDerpy is what she is now because of the fans, originally she was simply a background character. Everyone loves Derpy, including myself. I never got the impression she was mentally disabled, simply ditzy and clumsy. I thought her blonde mane was pretty evident as to her nature. I for one am sick of this politically correct society where everything is so ridiculous now, you can’t do anything without someone being offended by it.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I’ve come to understand, an overwhelming majority embrace Derpy, even the disabled or mentally challenged themselves who adore her. They have embraced her and the show.
I would love to see an episode about her specifically; maybe we’ll get one with her true voice and eyes.
Am I still the only one who gets it? Don't blame Hasbro because they didn't do ANYTHING. Apple made the Re-dub plain and simple. Oh, How do I know this you may ask. Well firstly the Re-dub was awful nothing close to the level Hasbro is used to putting out, Secondly this Re-dub is only shown on Itunes which is an Apple product, and Finally did you hear RD, It hardly sound like her it has to be some voice actress that Apple hired to make this awful Re-dub. Please think about this, Why would Hasbro do this to the Brony community? They love us, I know this because why else would they have made Derpys name canon in the first place. Because they care about us and did it to show that they care. Then Apple came and made this stupid Re-dub and quickly sidestepped out of the way to let Hasbro get blamed and not them. The logical thing to do, blame Apple but do it calmly, Bronys shouldn't act like brainless morons, we need to act calmly as a unit to prove that Hasbro didn't do this to us and put the guilty party to shame. Please do this Bronys, please.
