Unfortunately, the lack of fighting in the griffon nation has created a huge boom in population, and the ponies need more troops to really relive the epic battles of old.
Grand Archwizard Trixie has come up with a solution: summon random sapient creatures from other dimensions and transform them into ponies! What could possibly go wrong? It is HER idea after all, and Trixie is infallible.
She is allowing you to choose a specific role for the war games:
Unicorn: The long range artillery and strategists of the battlefield. Unicorns are adept at all sorts of magic, be it supporting your fellow troops with deflection magic or attacking the enemy with (Non-lethal) telekenetic projectiles from afar.
Pegasus: Ruling the skies, the pegusai are the primary scouts of the Equestrian military. They also play the role of assassins, summoning waves of fog that allows them to delve deep into enemy territory, where the griffon leaders are easy targets of their trusty suction cup arrows and plastic throwing knives.
Earth Pony: What they lack in magic and aerial ability, they make up for in pure endurance. Earth ponies hold the front line against the griffon armada, and work as the primary siege force. They also have groups that hang outside the battle to supply all of the combatants with food and nutrients to keep going.
So, what type of pony do you choose?
Update: Added a poll!

ReplyDeleteUm, I don't like flying? Seriously, why would I be something that would require me to do something I hate?
Unicorn. Yes.
ReplyDeletePegasus being able to take your enemy from the sky is rewarding delight.
ReplyDeleteSnips and Snails actually look kinda badass like that.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Unicorn. Why use a knife when I can use a gun, so to speak? I would have an affinity for fire magic, I've always preferred fire over other magic types.
Earth Pony no doubt.
ReplyDeletePower, endurance, and stamina.
Manliness!!!
Gotta go with Pegasus. Being able to control the fog of war is too appealing to pass up
ReplyDeleteEarth pony for me. Holding the front should be our number one priority! Now show me where those pesky Griffons are hidin'!
ReplyDeleteWAIT AN APPLE-BUCKIN' SECOND.....What about the navy? WHAT ABOUT THE SEA-PONIES????
ReplyDelete@epicdarkwizard12
ReplyDeleteI dont think Earth ponies can do much fighting against ariel attacks
for this battle Unicorn seems like the choice for me ... especially defensive spells are to my liking
ReplyDeletedefinitely pegasus!!
ReplyDeleteFlutterSniper, DitzyPyro

ReplyDeleteEarth Pony, so my ineptitude doesn't cost Equestria the game.
ReplyDeleteAs an aside, I think it would be hilarious if in a future episode we find out that Griffons' aren't the warmongers the fandom makes them out to be.
AGGGGGGGGHHHHH It's so hard to choose! D:
ReplyDeleteIronically, because I think I AM more of a unicorn, I would CHOOSE to be a pegasus.
ReplyDelete@palaminopegasus
If Ariel from the Little Mermaid attacks, that's why we need the Sea Ponies! From boring ol' aerial attacks, though, bows and arrows work wonders.
@y2kyle89
ReplyDeleteThat wouldn't surprise me. Gilda could have just been one rare bad griffon
Earth pony, I'm going to raid those griffon buckers with some plastic ammunition.
ReplyDeleteUnicorn. Unicorns are smart, smart ponies make technology, and if Civilization V has taught me anything, it's that technology wins wars.
ReplyDeleteEither that, or I'd fly around on some kind of aircraft shooting down Griffons with telekinesis and dropping magic bombs. Of course, if I get attacked, I'd be screwed, which is where my pegasi friends would have to cover me... right? Guys?
Earth Pony medic here
ReplyDeleteIt'd be cool if we can also choose alicore. If not then I'm Unicorn.
ReplyDeleteWait, don't tell me that there will be pony game like dat! Or is it just for poll :D
ReplyDeletePegasus definently. Flying, sneaking it just sounds so me.
ReplyDeleteUnicorn. I'm a strategist.
ReplyDelete@OtterMatt
ReplyDeletelol,
however, unicorns would be the ones using the arrows. I guess earth ponies will be operating the catapaults
Earth Pony! Woo!
ReplyDeleteWhere are the sea ponies?
Also, the last time Seth did something like this, didn't it spin off into a roleplay?
Can I come as a human and turn this into a proper war? =D
ReplyDelete@Anton Koffield
ReplyDeleteThe griffons stay away from the waters. Just the threat of the Sea Ponies is enough to ensure that Equestria dominates the oceans.
Anyway, we need more Earth Ponies. Everyone's forgetting this is a WAR, teamwork is utmost important. Everyone's picking Unicorn and Pegasus so they can be all hipster edgy and lone wolf hero and crap for the most part.
And Earth Ponies can fight griffons just fine. In the Pegasi description, they can use suction cup arrows, which means ranged weapons are a go. A little rugged Earth Pony engineering, and you've got a network of anti-air offense and defense.
And if you take after Pinkie Pie, you can be a flying Earth Pony. It's all in the machinery and tools. Unicorns and Pegasi are naturally gifted, but lack in other areas. An Earth Pony lacks in no wartime area, because they have ingenuity to make up for the lack of those special abilities.
For being hipster and stuff, I'd go unicorn mostly because that's my OC. For being a team player though, I gotta go Earth Pony. They're too good to turn down. Tactically prevalent, supposed to be the most numerous, the strongest and most indefatigable. They can handle all levels of warfare from the frontlinesman to artillery, recon, assassination, supply, and information warfare.
Pegasus of course
ReplyDeletePegasus, fly through the air, summon fog, and pick off enemies the way God intended, stealthily and one at a time... Plus I can say "Beep Beep I'm a cloud!"
ReplyDelete@epicdarkwizard12
ReplyDeleteThe efforts of the ground forces are for naught if there isn't enough air cover.
Unicorn all the way!
ReplyDeleteUnicorn. I love them.
ReplyDeleteI'm a tank player, earth ponies are tanks, so earth pony it is.
ReplyDelete@Kayriel
ReplyDeleteYeah! Woo!
I will rain might suction-cup justice down upon them from the skies!
ReplyDeleteI'd be a pegasus that fights like an earth pony.
ReplyDeleteunicorn... Flaming lightning bolts shall rain down from upon the heavens to smite down thy foe's
ReplyDeleteUnicorn tactician/medic here! Though non-lethal weapons mean less healing, more preventing.
ReplyDeleteTrixie seems to have good ideas sometimes. :)
Anybody for Battlefield 3 mod?
ReplyDeleteUnicorn, without a doubt. But we need more earth ponies...
ReplyDeletePegasus. Assassin fits me well and I've always been partial to pegasi.
ReplyDeleteAnd so it begins, the great equestrian war of our age.
ReplyDeleteI'd go Earth Pony. As Pinkie proves, they hard-counter Griffons.
ReplyDeletePegasus knights are my favorite units in Fire Emblem, so let's go with that.
ReplyDeleteGlory for the Pegasi!
ReplyDeleteWe're winning, my noble unicorn friends!
ReplyDeleteAlso keep in mind. NOT ALL UNICORNS ARE TWILIGHT SPARKLE, NOT ALL PEGASI ARE RAINBOW DASH.
ReplyDeleteI think that's a problem people are having, thinking they can bust out an entire armory of spells like Twilight, with enough magical force to be seen for miles.
From all canon sources, even Rarity is a bit more talented than your average Unicorn. Not every unicorn is exceptional. Maybe one in a thousand, and Twilight is unique, signs point to being the most powerful mortal spellcaster in Equestria.
If you're a fifth as good as she is, you're going too far.
Also, most Pegasi are fast, but even Dash's top non-Rainboom speed seems to be beyond most Pegasi to reproduce. Not to mention they seem to mostly be burst-fliers, not exactly suitable to tense wartime conditions, so the whole assassination thing would have to be very in-out, dodging all griffons since they're all capable of flight, and will be expecting the fog to mean incoming Pegasi forces. Then moving behind enemy lines to the most heavily defended clusters to assault lieutenants, then somehow surviving to get back out and back to your own friendly territory on the same burst of stamina.
Dash could do it in a few seconds, but everypony else? Nah, you're not the Wonderbolts.
Earth Ponies are where it's at. They can take a beating, they can dish one out, they can tear griffons out of the sky, they can outflank, send in elite units to go behind enemy lines, as griffons will be expecting pegasus assassins from the sky, or for their prey on the ground to stand out. They can also carry more gear, armor and weapons. On top of that, given that the weapons are basically food or toys, they're the SUPPLY of ammo in the first place.
Earth Ponies got this on lock. Griffons won't know what hit them.
Though, I'm worried. If the Griffons hit a huge population boom, they might be testing Equestria's potential fighting forces to see if a real invasion would be successful.
I always prefer to snipe, so Unicorn it is.
ReplyDelete@Discord
ReplyDeleteThat is why I was the one who made plans. You are still an extremist.
Pegasus. 'Nuff said.
ReplyDelete@Dͪ͊ͦḮ̘ͯS̔̐̓C̹̔Ã’͓͙̫R̀͠͞D͙̫
ReplyDelete... oh non-lethal
*Flaming Water balloons shall rain down from upon the heavens to smite down thy foe's
I'm gonna say unicorn, because I'm not very fast or strong in rl. I make up for it with range and providing cover
ReplyDeleteI choose Earth Pony. Even though I am more a strategist, we need more Earth ponies here.
ReplyDeleteEath pony
ReplyDeleteLet me get closer I wanna hit them with my hooves !
Definatly pegasus
ReplyDeleteEarth Pony medic and support trooper reporting for duty. I may not be a strong applebucker, but I can make damn sure the guys (and gals) who *are* that strong are kept healthy and supplied long enough to win this thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm tempted by the pegasus but I'll go with eart pony.
ReplyDeleteWhat could possibly go wrong? Well...
ReplyDeleteGetting the Bronies to to march in formation...
Not too hard.
Getting them to leave when the "war" is over...
Good luck with that.
I'm a great tactician, and love magical firepower! I'm going with Unicorn.
ReplyDeleteThough I'm also the worst sniper ever and bloody insane, so I'll probably be closer to the front lines than the other unicorns.
Pegasus bomber. Doing the trench run with RD!
ReplyDeletePegasus is cool... Unicorn is great.... I cant choose! I sure love flying and beeing a support is just my destiny ... Now what?
ReplyDeleteEarth pony!
I chose unicorn partially because of the long range stuff, I'm not really a melee person, but mainly because the stereotypical unicorn matches my personality more than the others.
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer alicorn though, Surely one so great and powerful as Trixie can accomplish that for at least one person? Pleeeeease?
@Celestia
ReplyDeleteI move that Discord be banned from the war games. He could turn on us at any moment and become a saboteur.
@Discord
No offense, but you ARE the Embodiment of Chaos and Disharmony.
Unicorn magic can conjure wings too, you know? So Unicorn FTW!
ReplyDeleteUnicorn. I'm polite, efficient, and I have a plan to kill everyone I meet.
ReplyDeleteAlicorn
ReplyDeleteI don't know quite yet, but now I REALLY want there to be a pony RTS or something like that.
ReplyDeletePegasus, because assassins. And my ponysona is already a pegasus so...
ReplyDeleteUnicorn. Artillery is the king of war where infantry is the queen of the battlefield, and it is well known what the king does to the queen.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, there's even uniforms involved.
Unicorn, I mean I already have an OC already heh.
ReplyDeleteI've always been fascinated with magic so Unicorn seemed like the obvious choice.
If it matters any, I've always enjoyed Summoning magic amongst the various types of magic's that have shown. I blame it on Summoner's in Final Fantasy Games!
I myself would choose to be an Earth Pony. I would like to use the chance to be one of the ponies who helps deliver food to others. Why? Two good reasons. The first is that I would enjoy a role that wouldn't directly expose me to combat, while still being vital to the success of the endeavor.
ReplyDeleteThe second being that, since I'm on the outskirts most of the time, when the "battle" is winding down it will be that much easier for me to try to slip away so I can live the remainder of my days as a pony. Unicorns and pegasi would, in my opinion, be watched more closely due to their more important roles in the "battle". Unless I can arrange things with one of those pegasi who are creating fog banks, maybe one of those could get put down in the wrong place, allowing both of us to get away and try our hands... hooves at being (possibly) illegal immigrants.
Whatever would be a field medic. Probably an Earth Pony I guess... That's me!
ReplyDeleteAlso, someone needs to make this into acollaborative fanfic or comic collaboration or large scale RP. I'm liking this idea. :)
Gotta go earth pony.
ReplyDeleteI'm an infantry Marine now, so it was an easy choice for me.
Definately another support pony here : )
ReplyDeleteUnicorn. I am definitely more of a strategist than a fighter, and thus my talents would best be put to use in said manner.
ReplyDeletedefinitely pegasus. air force, yo!
ReplyDeleteGotta go with the Unicorns
ReplyDelete@Kayriel
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that assume that the griffons will fight on the ground for the entire war?
Earth Pony. I know my place and it's on the front lines, to live and pie for my country.
ReplyDelete@Kayriel
ReplyDeleteActually, I did keep this in mind, and well, I'm still going to have to go with Unicorn.
I just can't think of any kind of non-lethal weaponry that has a range of more than, say, 100 yards. Even then, you could kill somebody with something propelled with enough force to go that far. So I have trouble imagining any kind of "anti-aircraft" weaponry that would be effective against an army of Griffons. (Even if such weaponry existed, the battle would be more of a function of how many of these weapons you had than whether you specifically had a lot of Earth Ponies to use them... Unicorns or Pegasi should be able to use them just as well.) There's no reason Griffons couldn't stay at a height out of reach of Earth Ponies and drop balloons or suction cup darts down on them. It'd be a pretend slaughter.
ReplyDeleteI just don't see Earth Ponies being able to fight an all-winged enemy at all. Berlin proved that you can't lay seige to an enemy that can fly over your lines. I can't think of any strategic positions that you can seize to keep Griffons out of the air (they don't need airfields or runways). Terrain is a non-factor for them and a huge factor for you.
Now, in heraldry I believe that only *female* griffons have wings... Male griffons are wingless. So if the enemy has some earthbound forces, then suddenly an infantry force has some use again.
I love how the group that's supposed to be the main siege force is also the smallest ._.
ReplyDeleteEarth Pony all the way!
Pegasus or Unicorn... Its hard to decide xD Wings.. Or Magic.. But you can use Magic to fly..
ReplyDeleteWell Unicorn :)
This just reminded me when I used to play dwarf fortress with the pony mod.
ReplyDeleteAll the more reasons to pick unicorn. Force-choking is quite a useful skill.
I like how Seth describes the Earth ponies basically like the "Operation: Hide Behind the Darkies" plan from the South Park movie.
ReplyDeletePegasus definitely. Who wouldn't wanna go to Cloudsdale?
ReplyDeleteCan i bring my little toy? *Takes out REAL pistol* :D
ReplyDeleteBAH Pegasi for life!
ReplyDeletewhat? plastic non-lethal weapon?
ReplyDelete*read Earth pony description*
if they are supposed to be able to take more damage...then based on what one is "dead"? if it's not a one-hit paintball... are you out of the game when you are a bloody mess barely alive, aren't you?
anyway pegasus. is 20% cooler and they are supposed to take less damage ( this looks like a real battle celestia damned!)
I would like to be a Pegasus for the "assassin" duty, but if I could be covert unicorn ops then Unicorn, no doubt
ReplyDeleteAfter reading Equestria: Total War i cna say, Unicorn is the only way for me to be a pony!
ReplyDeleteFuckin' love the artillery! Also being a field medic surgeon is easier with magic, in a real war my magic, skills and knowledge would be the key to save proud unicorns, cool pegasi and brave earth ponies. :D
FOR EQUESTRIA!!!! SEND THEM TO THE MOON BEEYAAATCH!
ReplyDeletei hope that say all
I have to go with Unicorn, being in a command and control position is where I am at my best. I feel for the Earthers however, they need all our respect.
ReplyDeletePegasus all the way. I prefer flying and being agile and it would be more fun. Assassinasions, using the fog and clouds as weapons. Since being sneaky and sly is what I'm good at. Hell I'd try to make a cloud into personal sniper and us lightning as the ammo. You also have those rock things with rope to throw and tie up the griffins wings.
ReplyDeleteBut let the record know I'd want to be have dragon as well so I'd have a dragon tail and dragon wings!
ZEBRA!
ReplyDeleteearth pony endurance + balancing(for parkour/stealth) + magic! What could be better?

ReplyDeleteDear Princess Celestia,
ReplyDeleteDay 9 in the trenches. Stop. My ears have been ringing from shellshock all morning. Stop. Supplies are running low, but morale has been holding up since we found that crate of balloons and kazoos. Stop.
Had to amputate my horn with a box knife. Stop. Using a carrot as a prosthetic. Stop.
I'd say the armor levels of each type of pony based on Seth description would be something like this:
ReplyDeleteUnicorn: 1 hit
Pegasi: 2 hits
Earth Pony: 3 hits
Considering unicorns seem to be some kind of mages, pegasi some kind of stealth/assasin class and earth pony the fighter/tank class.
Unicorn all the way.
ReplyDelete"Earth ponies win fights.
ReplyDeletePegasus win battles.
Unicorns win wars."
Old Unicorn officer saying.
As a member of the United States Air Force I was compelled to go Pegasus. But I am an enlisted member of the USAF so logically I chose Unicorn. Unicorns can't fly but according to Twilight can easily cast a spell that allows for cloud walking.
ReplyDeleteEarth pony. Unicorns and pegasus are too weak. Nothing beats down the enemy more than a good kick to the face, or a galloping headbutt.
ReplyDeletePegasus! Scouting is essential to combat.
ReplyDelete*raises an eyebrow* Grand Archwizard Trixie?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNormally I'm a Pegasus fan but in a battle situation I'd be a Unicorn. I'm all about ranged attacks and long distance fighting.
ReplyDeleteUnicorn, because they're the best at coordinating and building up something with teamwork. A thousand earth ponies can't all lift a single table at the same time because there is no room, but a thousand unicorns can work in concert to lift it and ease the burden. Giant pie the size of a small pond? Get enough unicorns and we can get it anywhere you want. Just don't expect us to bake it for you, that's Pinkie's job.
ReplyDeleteAnother Pegasus joins the fray. Why? Hit and run attacks will wear down the enemy. Sneaking behind enemy lines poisoning both the water and food supplies does wonders to enemy morale. And finally, knowing the enemy's location is the key to victory.
ReplyDeleteDangit, Seth. You're getting me way too excited about something that is purely theoretical!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to "kill" so many griffins while supporting my team as a Unicorn! I'm awesome at being lethal while still being an effective support player! Combat Medic and Offensive Engineer here!
Earth pony definitely. Pegasi and unicorns are too fragile to get in on the action.
ReplyDeleteEarth pony, without a doubt. Not just because it's apparently the smallest combat force when it should be the largest, (come on people, teamwork!) but due to their logistical responsibilities.
ReplyDeleteArmies can't fight on empty stomachs. Ballistae are useless without bolts to fire. Abrams Main Battle Tanks are little more than eighty ton rocks once they're out of fuel.
Amateurs study tactics. Professionals study logistics.
actualy i wanted to be a magic/shamanic zebra
ReplyDeletebut a unicorn is fine to...
I'm for the skys. Pegasus all the way. I wonder though what everybody's reaction would be.....
ReplyDelete- a brony/pegasister(whatever you like to be called) : holy sh*t this is awesome!!!
- anti pony person: fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
- mlp creators: dose this mean were made a documentary?
- Lauren Faust: dose this mean i am god?
- target democratic: yay
- drunk: iv'e had too much
- adverage person who dosent watch mlp but dose not hate it: what the f*ck!
pegasus
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I wouldn't want to be an Earth Pony or Unicorn, but I think Pegasus would be more suited towards my personality.
ReplyDeleteEarth Pony Ingenuity FTW. FIRST ARMOURED CAVALRY DIVISION! FALL IN!
ReplyDelete@Desert Rose Pretty much, as they say, "Most Battles take place in the sky" Also we should do this type of war-game with Russia lol
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to make this into a game. I bet the old Team Fortress engine would work.
ReplyDeleteBeing a unicorn sounds hard and kinda boring. I choose Earth Pony.
ReplyDeletePegasus.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how much more emphatically I can stress that as my choice. But rest assured I choose it with all possible emphasis.
@ChaosDX1
ReplyDeleteOr a fic with this argument, that would be soo awesome.
First: I tell Trixie to send me back home.
ReplyDeleteSecond, presuming she can send me home but does not want to, I try to convince her why taking random sapients who have family and friends that are going to get very concerned about where they went to after it turns out I'm not at any of the places I usually visit, and I had no plans to go anywhere anytime soon.
Third, if she still doesn't want to send me home after me trying to explain to her why I don't like being taken from my home, in the words of Commander Shepard, "I'm tired of your snide insinuations."
Never can have enough foot soldiers, earth pony it is.
ReplyDeleteUnicorn all the way. I always prefer long range support over combat or hit and runs. Someone who is good at making games, this would be SO AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI like melee combat, but unicorns are cool... Is there a place for a Unicorn battlemage?
ReplyDeleteVoted Earth Pony because they need some love. Seriously, this army is toast without more Earth Ponies.
ReplyDeletepegasus all the way!
ReplyDeleteEarth Pony resupply team? Sign me up! When the going gets tough, we don't give them cake, we assault them with cake!
ReplyDeleteWill Unicorns be required to put blunt tips, corks for example, on the tip of their horns?
ReplyDeleteAlso I apologize if the following has already been said but I feel the need to say this.
A thousand Ponies of the Equestrian Empire descend upon you Griffons. Our suction cup arrows will blot out the sun!
I'll Be a little bit of a Hypster and choose the Earth Ponies. This army has waaaaaaaaaaay too many unicorns and pegasi so far.
ReplyDeleteI'd go wherever i would be needed, but personally I'd want to be a Pegasus. BTW Seth, shouldn't Twi be the one to call us to battle?
ReplyDeleteUnicorn. Gotta have artillery.
ReplyDeleteI'm a "stay far back like a cheap b*****" type, so unicorn is for me :3
ReplyDelete@Silk_Sk
ReplyDeleteThat's why we start to criple the enemy's logistics and morale long before any army is even deployed in the field. Those Griffs will not even have a battle worthy army to fight with by the time we are done with them.
Pegasus's would be at a severe disadvantage against the griffons if it were a real war, due to their claws.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, A knowledgeable unicorn with enough power is bound to find a spell for flight
(That isn't flammable). Due to magic being portrayed as having nearly no limits as what it can do, (such as turning sapien beings to ponies) magic in the end WILL beat out wings.
The others are so tempting, but Applejack, makes being an Earth Pwny look so cool!
ReplyDeleteeither earth pony or Pegasus. Stealth and flying could be fun, but sometimes I like a good old fashioned head smashing party.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does the image keep changing?
ReplyDeleteToo many strategists, artillery and scouts. So, Earth pony
ReplyDeletePegasus.
ReplyDeleteThe Griffons will probably be mainly sky-born, so we need as many fighters in the air as possible.
@Evil Monkey pssh. That's not hipster. Zebras are Hipster.
ReplyDeleteI'd be a zebra, so that the whole time
ReplyDeleteI could just sit around while speaking in rhyme
Laughing at ponies that play this mock war
All 'cause they're so pleased they don't war anymore
Unicorn. Eagle eye perk.
ReplyDeleteI am ready.
Even Twilight had to take up alot of her energy and time to conjure wings for just one pony, so all of you thinking you can do much more than send small things flying towards the enemy are mistaken. It's only that and whatever your cutie mark happens to be. That being said, I'd probably be a unicorn 'u' I like strategic planning.
ReplyDeletePegasisisisisis
ReplyDeleteEarth Pony. I HAVE to be right in the thick of things.
ReplyDeleteI have little command abilities (though I think I do excel with targeting), so no unicorn.
I'm not much with stealth, which you said is the biggest role pegasus play (my preference? One word: dogfight).
Hold our line and push there's back? HEAVEN!!!
Two Earth pony generals meet in Gryphonheim. One of them asks the other, "By the way... do you remember who won the air war?"
ReplyDeleteEarth Pony
ReplyDelete"I will be your shield if you'll be my sword."
"Not a single Griffon shall pass my lance."
"If they strike at me they will fall before my hooves."
"Next time try to leave a dent."
unicorn, uses magic to make wings, turns into alicorn, adn with that i broke the system! thanks everypony! XD
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'd be an earth pony. Sure we don't have wings or fancy magic but we make up for it with ingenuity and unparalleled adaptability
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a strategist when it comes to fighting, so unicorn.
ReplyDeletePegasis, but I just may be biased with all the assassin's creed I play haha.
ReplyDelete@Bruno
ReplyDeleteIf you give a unicorn wings It is not an alicorn! it can fly and use magic, but it still lacks the robust body structure of the earth ponys
So, if the choices are between:
ReplyDelete1. Pegasus Scout/Assassain
2. Unicorn commander/ front line infatry
3. Earth pony Juggernaught/medic/supplier
Id choose the pegasus assassain. Always had a thing for those stealthy assassins.
Realistically id rather be an Earth Pony, as gryphons would probably be able to overpower Pegasi in the air and Unicorns on the ground. Id rather have a fighting chance in the end.
ReplyDeleteus earth ponies are outnumbered, but not outclassed! We will be the ones to win this War(reenactment)!
ReplyDeleteUnicorn.
ReplyDeleteWhen I play a fighting game, I like to use projectiles a lot. I also like being a spellcaster in RPGs and MMOs.
Safe to say, I'd probably fit right in.
Earth Pony. While all the Unicorns and Pegasi are busy keeping their distance and avoiding scuffing their feathers. My loyal platoon of Dragoons and I shall storm the Griffons' mountain fortress, and soak their generals to the bone with our water cannons!
ReplyDeleteDefinately an Earth Pony. :) Use the advantages of the land to divise tactics and win! :)
ReplyDeleteIt takes guts to win wars, and you'll find no better fighters than the earth Ponies, sign me up.
ReplyDeleteI'd be a pegasus, certainly. Getting to fly=awesome.
ReplyDeleteEarth Pony! Especially is I can be near the food!
ReplyDeleteI would be an unicorn.
ReplyDeletei my talent would be tinkerer, i love magic ( i always play a magic character: P) and i love to tinker.
Well earth ponys. looks like we need to start training hard if equestria is to save face in front of the the griffon's democratic republic. With so few of us we must be the strongest, bravest, and the most capable.
ReplyDeleteNothing about what I said even mentioned Griffons on the ground.
ReplyDeleteAlso, having Griffons and Pegasi clash directly is a terrible idea. Griffons are hardier, stronger, and if Gilda's any idea, just as quick as some of our best fliers.
Another thing: TOO MANY STRATEGISTS. I think the phrase went: Too many chiefs, not enough braves. If everyone's trying to decide who does what, we get chaos. The chain of command breaks down, one part of the army does something that interferes with another part of the army, supplies don't go where they need to, we pointlessly lose troops.
Unicorns should be our least numerable category. Earth Ponies -> Pegasi -> Unicorns. As far as artillery, you're trying to hit FLYING TARGETS. Unless they're up close, which is where a Unicorn doesn't want to be, your accuracy becomes practically nil. Also, spellcasting eats up stamina, so how many missed shots before you have to take a breather?
Not to mention, if Pegasi are our assassins, then -all- griffons count as assassins, as well as artillery and frontline troops. All of their soldiers can perform every task that we're bickering over here due to too many strategists disagreeing on tactics.
Make no mistake, they have the advantage. Numerically as well as in soldier quality. Ponies have been at peace for ages, and are in general, a species best suited for it. Griffons are naturally inclined predators and omnivores, they're naturally gifted at combat and trained in it even just from catching their food.
So let's do the right thing here folks. Too many Unicorns, not enough Earth Ponies. After all, an Earth Pony can exchange blows with a Griffon, but all it takes is one strike to drop a Unicorn.
The lack of earth ponies is because it's a CHOICE. I doubt many people would choose the "grunt class" as it were. If you asked what type they THINK they would be instead, people with low self-confidence would also vote for earth ponies. I'd say a good few hundred. RANTRANTRANT
ReplyDeleteWell, I think I would probably like to choose Pegasus, but I have to be an earth pony. Don't ask me why, it just...I don't know, it sounds good: "Earth pony", it's strong, it's...manly XD.
ReplyDeletePegasus
ReplyDeleteit seems no love for earth ponies per usual
ReplyDeletePegasus I don't have to say more.
ReplyDelete@Kayriel
ReplyDeleteI've still not heard anyone give me a good idea of what an Earth Pony could do against a flying enemy. Strategists are saying "we need more infantry" based on prior war examples that don't apply to an all-airborne enemy. Using outdated military strategy is how you get massacred.
Logically, Pegasi are the "infantry" in a war against an enemy where every troop can be airborne. The skies are where the front lines will be, and controlling the airspace will be the only way to limit the movements of the enemy.
Making your army predominantly Earth Ponies is like France building reinforced trenches in preparation for World War 2 and then watching the Blitzkrieg just roll right past them. They're slow to deploy and easy to bypass, with the most limited attack range. They'd be bombed into oblivion without massive amounts of Pegasi air-cover.
Earth Pony
ReplyDeleteThey're strong, loyal, dependable, and Applejack is best pony.
Honestly, probably an earth pony. Not only do they seem most needed at the moment, but in combat the enhanced speed and physical prowess gives the edge.
ReplyDelete(nobody likes earth ponies ;___;)
Ohh never mind me, just another earth pony about tu buck the teeth out of some gryphons, that is if they have teeth. If not then their cranium will be cracked.
ReplyDeleteUnicorn here, and at that more of a strategist than an artillery operator.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit sad to see only 19% (at this time) are choosing earth! All the choices have great qualities :)
ReplyDeleteA mock war you say?
ReplyDelete*this is the perfect time for my army to strike, while their forces are held we will begin with our airbourne divisions as they rain from the sky...*
Stop looking at me like that guys, I'm kidding
Slightly....
Pegasus, duh...
ReplyDeletePegasus, no question.
ReplyDeleteUnicorn, hooves down.
ReplyDeleteKind of split on this one. On the one hand, I know how to fly in real life (certificated pilot), so I wouldn't be lost as a pegasus. I can definitely use what I know to my advantage and the advantage of my teammates. Plus the fact that it would be so awesome to fly under my own power. But on the other hand, I feel I'd also be as adept in the strategic/support role that unicorns play. In anything, I feel the obligation to plan everything out to make sure everything gets done with as few hiccups as possible. And I feel that I'm better playing a support role to something major. That's not to say I wouldn't "take charge" if the need arose, but I'm more a behind-the-scenes guy. And the magic. I'm not sure if it would be as awesome as flying, but it would be so cool to use magic and, for lack of a better phrase, expand my capabilities beyond what I could do just on my own.
ReplyDeleteLong story short, I'd have to flip a coin between pegasus and unicorn.
Also for this,
ReplyDeleteTuff call, I need first a tactical layout of the geography, then I need an estaminet on troop strength an supplies an supply routes.
I'll start with an artillery barrage, send in a earth pony wave with unicorns backing, then I'll need two groups of pegasi, one to drop bombs and the other to drop off paratroopers to encircle the enemy.
Then I need my dragon to fly out
@Seth
Why no dragons?
Also, to those of you who said that you wanted to be unicorn and that you could just conjure up some wings for yourself, remember that it would totally drain you, leaving you pretty much useless for the rest of the battle, and that the wings created by the spell are made by morning dew and gossamer, and are, therefore, extremely fragile. Boom roasted
ReplyDeleteSummon ALL the bronies.
ReplyDeleteAlso Pegasus ftw.
I'm going against the crowd here and going earth, as I love being in the front lines and acting as a tank in anything.
ReplyDeletePegasus. Do love me some pegasi.
ReplyDeleteALSO THEY ARE WAR
I'm gonna be a hipster and say Earth Pony.
ReplyDeleteEarth pony! Don't need any of those fancy horns or wings, no way, no how!
ReplyDeleteI said i wanted to be a Pegasus. But i voted Earth Pony because without logistics no army will ever be successful in battle.
ReplyDelete/Sun Tzu
Considering Commander Pinkie Pie's talent for creative engineering, I don't see us Earth Ponies having a real problem with a bunch of birdbrains.
ReplyDeleteIt's important to think of tactics and resources. For example, with proper use of terrain, an Earth Pony Water Balloon Mortar Troop can be an effective unit. Combine this with Pegasi covert chariot deployment, Unicorn deflection and tactical support, an all-inclusive supply divison, and we have an effective war machine.
Personally I favor joint Earth Pony & Unicorn commando raids, but I hear the ERA is working on some kinda joint Unicorn-Pegasus project. Sounds kinky.
Much as I love the pegasi, artillery wins wars. Unicorn it is.
ReplyDelete@Harwick but griffons can't stay airborne forever. Also, if anypony would have the strength to physically man anti-air cake cannons, it'd be the earth ponies. Either way, pegasi are still really, really high in the polls.

ReplyDeleteany one consider that an ideal set up would be 1 unicorn 1 Pegasus and 2 or 3 earth-ponies for a unit. Unicorn castes cloud walk on everypony, everyone gets on a cloud and the pegasus flies you over there camp. the earth ponies then wreak havoc with support from unicorns and Pegasus then extracts them again.
ReplyDeleteEveryone gets to be sneaky.
Everyone gets to have magic.
And every one gets to but heads.
fun for the whole family.
Only 1/5 tanks?
ReplyDeleteI am okay with this.
I would probably be a Pegasus. If Im assigned to scouting missions or assassination missions. Im probably gonna join in.
ReplyDeleteTrue Ponies don't die, they simply fade away...
ReplyDeletei still think unicorns are highly overpowered.
ReplyDeleteWho needs endurance when you can teleport over distances? Which, would also make them the perfect assassins. Not to mention the possibility of magic sheilds, etc
