RD isn't too pleased about not having a superpower. There are currently several mutant ponies who could outrace her normally, but VERY few of them could keep up if she uses the Sonic Rainboom. So she'll have to deal with having a little competition for... oh, about a month. And than things change. :D

      @Dusty the Royal Janitor
Spitfire IS awesome. I just made her more so.
Iron Man IS to good for Blueblood, that's kinda the point. The whole point is for him to BECOME good enough to deserve being Iron Man. Character development FTW.
The epilogue is going to contain several characters gaining powers and moving out of Ponyville to do stuff. At least, that's the plan.
I'm glad you love this so much, man. Thanks for reading!

      @Saintspirit
Fire is always an awesome thing.
And yeah, Caramel is pretty much a slightly more forgetful clone of pre-serum Steve. Only a pony.

Better get to baby-making, then. I need soldiers for my army of gundams, for when I inevitably conquer the world.

    6. Hmm with all the comments on Rainbow Dash possibly getting pushed into the background by the super-ponies (no longer the fastest, or even closest), now I have this horrible idea of Dashie getting so jealous she becomes the Equestrian equivalent of Bolivar Trask or Cameron Hodge and starting the local anti-super group.

      ReplyDelete
    7. @Ardashir
NO. I love Dashie too much and have too much hate for those anti-mutant bigots to ever let that happen. It's a good idea - a great one, even - from a story perspective, but on a personal level that'd be like turning Gilda (aka PONY LUCIFER) into a goody-goody protagonist - it runs so counter to my soul that trying to do it may destroy my mind.

      ReplyDelete
    8. Thanks koolerkid, that's good to know.

And to be honest, I feel that Marvel beat the whole anti-mutant drum too bloody loudly. It's one of the main things that eventually turned me off from the company entirely.

      ReplyDelete
    9. Not to mention, this is EQUESTRIA. Sure, they'll be some grumbling, maybe some small-scale protests, but this is the home of "love and tolerate". The wide-spread fear and hate of mutants that was everywhere on Earth won't find much of a foothold here. Plus, the government here isn't controlled by idiot politicians - it's controlled by an all-powerful, immortal, benevolent goddess who loves all her ponies regardless of mutation. No law will ever be passed that necessitates anything like Sentinels, anti-mutant laws, etc. Mutant registration acts are possible, considering the government's totalitarian nature, but I can't see many ponies complaining about it and it'll probably be largely voluntary anyway. Pony mentality can be VERY different from human mentality.

Instead of using the Iron Pony moniker, I'd consider using Iron Horse, due to the steam locomotive connotations.

      Luvin' it so far!

Did you happen to get the email I sent you?

Wait, you give Blueblood the position of avenger, but you wouldn't dream of giving Guilda a chance at redemption? It might be just me or that one drawing I saw, but I think she'd make a pretty good Hawkeye.

Also, I don't know if you meant this to happen, but it feels like Pinkie Pie is taking up the position of the marvel movies' Nick Furry, seeing as how she somehow got both of the avengers so far to act on the powers they were given.

    12. I did not comment earlier. Good work.

Soarin with a healing fator...will it eventually increase the way wolverines did and become near instantaneous?

Oh i have fun theory wouldn't a healing ability, after certain injuries and frequency thereof, gradually increase in rate in order to boost it's effect? Kind of like working a muscle and also self improvement, not that I am asking for a pony wolverine, that just does not belong in equestria, it just doesn't....I just was thinking about how wolverine went from being able to rapidly heal from minor wounds quickly to regenerating his entire body after an atomic blast...

going off in obscurity well,,,\\\ /)^3^(\

    13. @Jacky2734
      Got it and replied!

As for Gilda... Blueblood may have been a jerk, but Gilda is the PONY DEVIL. Why? Because Fluttershy is best pony, and she MADE FLUTTERSHY CRY. THERE IS NO REDEMPTION FOR SUCH AN UNPARDONABLE SIN.

      Biased? Me? Naaaah.

As for Pinkie... Pinkie is Pinkie. I'm not sure WHAT she is. She's almost more plot device than character, because she's so chaotic. She doesn't motivate ALL the Avengers, but she strongly supports their formation and wants to help any way she can. Why? Because poor Big Mac is lonely and needs some friends, of course!

      ReplyDelete
    14. @Melodia
well it depends wolvies healing factor goes threw fluctuations depending on who is writing his book but that's Ok there a few other avenger with healing factors

    15. I will now make a totally random assumption of what powers/abilities/superhero personas the Mane Six will get.
      Twilight - Sorceress Supreme
Pinkie Pie - She's Pinkie Pie, She doesn't need anything else, but, just to be fair, Deadpool.
      Applejack - Thor Girl
      Rainbow Dash - Quick Silver
      Rarity - Wasp
Fluttershy - She Hulk... It could happen... maybe... possibly?... Hey, you try finding a Marvel character aside from Squirrel Girl who fits Fluttershy's character in any way.

      ReplyDelete
    17. @Jacky2734

Most of the mane six are gonna stay norms. That said, two of the things on your list will be seen (or at least mentioned) in the epilogue.

Also, chapter eight is done! I'm just waiting for Seth to upload it now. He's taking FOREVER.

      ReplyDelete
    18. @koolerkid

Just read chapter 8 on that forum where you posted it. Another excellent edition to the ever growing awesomeness that is this fic.

As for what you're planning with the mane 6, Please let it be Dash and Fluttershy, Dash because she's still the most awesome(I said awesome, not best) pony, and Fluttershy because it would be hilarious to see her as She Hulk.

FYI, after seeing what you did with Blueblood, I still think your being to harsh on Guilda. Seriously she may be a jerk and a half, but she's no Mephisto.

      ReplyDelete
    19. @Jacky2734
I'm glad you liked it and that you cared enough to go hunting for it! I'm still waiting for Seth the Slowpoke to update.

As for Gilda and Blueblood... see, I don't harbor much ill will for Blue, because I'm simply not a big Rarity fan. Not that I dislike her, but I like her less than most other ponies. So a pony being a jerk to her (and Blue was an EPIC-level jerk) doesn't trigger much rage.

Terrorize my FAVORITE character, however, and you become... well... let's say I have PLANS for Gilda in this fic.

      EVIL plans.

      ReplyDelete
    20. @koolerkid

*Grumbles about a perfectly good Mephisto reference gone to waste*

Fine, I give up. Do what you want to Guilda. She's not my favorite, but I felt she had room to mature.

Please tell me we're going to see some Thor action in chapter 9.

      ReplyDelete
    21. @Jacky2734
Oh, Gilda can definitely be done well. Heart of Gold, Feathers of Steel is actually a very good fic, and high up on my list of favs. The fact that the fic is good enough to make me set aside my Gilda-hate should speak for it's quality. It's just that, personally, I'm never going to write her as anything less than the unforgivable monster.

As for Thor... errrrm... I have one more intro to go, I'm afraid. However chapter ten returns to the main plotline.

I'm sorry, are these intro chapters boring? I'm trying my best to spice them up a bit, because I know you're all really here for Thor, but he needs his team.

      ReplyDelete
    22. @Koolerkid
There not boring, Thor is just my second favorite hero.

      ReplyDelete
    23. The intro chapters (with facts about the mutations and stuff) are certainly not boring; in fact, it is those kind of chapters I enjoy the most :)

      ReplyDelete
    24. Well... Actually that Blueblood - Iron Pony thing was handled WAY better than I ever could have done it. As I said, Iron Man seemed too good for him but with the way it was handled it really seemed to work.

I attribute it to the whole "increased intelligence" part, where he realizes just how much of a douche he's been. If I could compare it to anything, I'd say it's similar to when Angel receives a soul and stops being the horrendously evil Angelus on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and suddenly becomes a mostly likable character.

Truly excellent work! I can't wait to see what you do with Caramel! Perhaps he's now at peak pony capability with a minor healing factor a la Steve Rogers? :D

      ReplyDelete
    25. @Dusty the Royal Janitor
I'm glad you liked it! And yeah, comparing him to Angel is pretty accurate, only with less.... cliche-ness. And more love-life possibilities.

As for the Cap... well. I'm just gonna remind you that most ponies already have what humans would call 'powers', even norms. Even an Earth Pony has a sort of magic. "Peak pony capability" is VERY different from "peak human capability", especially considering how powerful some ponies can get. Just a thought.

      ReplyDelete
    26. And so Blueblood is now the Iron Pony...*facehoof*

      IT'S PONY STARK!*ducks flying tomatoes*

I won't even try to guess who you'll bring in next chapter. That one took me completely by surprise. Though, frankly, I still get annoyed by high-speaking characters, even if they're nice.

Keep up the awesomeness, hope we can get back to Thor soon. He's mah favorite!

      ReplyDelete
    27. Another awesome chapter! I like Rarity's involvement. You know what'd be fun? If Princess Luna asked Rarity to design all the Avenger's superhero costumes. The Avengers could protect Equestria... in style! Can you picture Rarity "in the zone" commanding Thor to stay still so she can take his measurements? XD

      I look forward to more!

      ReplyDelete
    28. Im not a fan of Marvel but this is intriguing. Carry on my good friend, carry on.

      ReplyDelete
    29. You handled Iron Pony very well. I can't wait for more. I just wish Blueblood still had a bit of jerk left in him for banter between himself and Thor.

      ReplyDelete
    30. @Chetoos
You've only seen him around a pretty mare who he considers his equal, and a young filly who is also her little sister. Blueblood may honestly want to change, but old habits die hard. Wait until he meets the rest of the team.

      ReplyDelete
    31. Iron Pony eh? That's just great. Keep on going.

      ReplyDelete

      ReplyDelete
    34. I figured you had a good chunk prewritten, but this is all from the hip? What deal with what deity have you made recently, and where can I get one?

      ReplyDelete
    35. You know, the talk of mutations makes me want to ask a couple of questions: What of currently pregnant mares? Is there a chance that the foal will be born with a mutation? And, would a foal conceived after Celestia's... er, "outbreak" have a chance of being born with one?

      ReplyDelete
    36. @moocow1452

I have lots of it written out in my head - all my favorite scenes and best ideas are largely planned in my brain. The little niggly details, however, as well as the actual committing of words to text, is all done off the hip.

As for my deity, I'm afraid I'm a worshipper of The Overmind, who is my hyper-evolved self from the future who has ascended to godhood. He only accepts deals with parallel instances of himself.

      @Pecan Crisp

I honestly didn't consider it. A later event will make it largely a non-issue, but I suppose foals are being born every day, so... I'm gonna say that an unborn foal has the same chance of mutation as anypony else, though their mutations will likely be MUCH more radical and there is a high chance of fatal mutation and miscarriage in such a case. As for foals conceived later, unless one of the parents is a mutant, they will be born normal. If one of the parents are a mutant, the child has a high but not absolute chance of being a mutant. If both parents are mutants, their foal will also be a mutant.

Like I said, this all will change after an event later in the story, but the changes will be explained then. I'm trying very hard not to spoil, so I'll stop myself now.

    38. Interesting choice. I was impressed that it was fairly believable, though my memory of Blueblood's voice gets in the way. Maybe if he sounded more like Robert Downey Jr....

And filly Celestia's still a troll, I see. Keep up the good work, this is one of the fics I'm watching most eagerly right now.

    40. This story is one of the most flipping awesome things I've ever read, no joke. The superhero clashes are well written with incredible imagery thrown in! Congratulations for bringing larger than life ideas to life with ponies! And Iron Pony was handled wonderfully. 43. This fucking awesome, in every way. I like the mixture of generation 1 avengers, obscure members and classic costumes. I kinda want a Samuel Jackson Nick Fury character in this.

      ReplyDelete
    44. @Koolerkid
(Note: I ask these questions now because the story is posted here and I didn't want to spoil anything for anyone to lazy to hunt down the next chapter.)
Just so we're clear, Rarity = Pepper Pots?

Also, was your Whiplash based off the one from Iron Man: Armored Adventures or the Iron Man 2 Whiplash? I know he wasn't based off the one from the comics because that one didn't look nearly as awesome as the one you described.

      ReplyDelete
    45. @Jacky2734
Yes, Rarity is more or less Pepper. With a bit of Happy, Jarvis, and pretty much all of Tony's support cast. She's multi-purpose.

And Whiplash is a fusion of the animated series one and the one from the movie. Although the comic books have adopted one very similar to the animated series one recently.

    48. I... Honestly wasn't expecting Blue Blood as Iron Man. But now that he -is- Iron Man, I can't believe I didn't see it coming. I don't care if he already has a canon voice, from now on I'm headcanoning him as Robert Downey Jr and YOU CAN'T STOP ME HA HA HA.

Um. Yeah. Sorry 'bout that. Thus far this is turning out to be really good, especially now that we're getting to other superheroes besides Thor. Don't get me wrong, Thor = win, but this is My Little Avengers, and we need the whole team.

Oh, yeah, and you were right. Rarity was indeed awesome.

      ReplyDelete
    49. I just finished reading all the current chapters.

This fic is excellent, easily one of the most original crossovers I've ever read. You've done an excellent job tying the events of the plot together to create the elements needed for the Marvel universe to blossom.

My one complaint is spelling mistakes and a few grammar errors. They detract just slightly from the story, but it's distracting at best. I'm an English teacher when I'm not ponying, and I'd be happy to proofread chapters for you if you want.

Once again, as a brony and a Marvel fan, excellent work.

      ReplyDelete
    50. Prince Blueblood as Iron Pony*? Yeah, it works. Tony Stark was a selfish playboy before he became a hero, though I wonder who if any of IM's old villains will make the jump to Equestria. The Manedarin? Titanium Mare?

And having Rarity be his assistant and aide-de-camp is a brilliant idea. Even hints of a coming romance between the two. Very nice.

And it's great to see Tia coming back into the story, but man will Luna have to keep an eye on her!

      * -- Okay, I'd have gone with "Iron Mane", but that's just me.

      ReplyDelete
    51. @Ardashir
As would I. Rolls off the tongue more easily and makes a better pun on the original name.

      ReplyDelete
    53. @Author_Man
I pretty much imagine him with Robert Downey Jr.'s voice as well. Only with a sophisticated accent. I dunno, works for me.

      @RinellaWasHere
I'm glad you liked it! I put a lot of work into it. And I'd love an extra proofreader; the ones I have are okay, but mostly they just say "wow, this is great!" and point out a few of my worst mistakes. I've posted my email several times in the comments; Email me with the subject "Proofreader" and I'll send you the next chapter when it's ready.

      @Ardashir
Blueblood is essentially a pony Tony Stark in terms of personality. They are also both filthy rich and treated females like dirt. Than: IRON MAN/PONY. Iron Mane is okay, but... eh. I dunno. I like Iron Pony.

      @HALOGUNNYSGT
      My work here is done.

Honestly, I'm not sure how I did it either.

    62. Pinkie Pie's just a conversation with Loki away from becoming Pinkiepool. In the name of Ryan Reynolds, chimichangas, and Bea Arthur, let this be so!

I forsee Twilight Sparkle taking up the mantle of Sorceress Supreme (Maybe Trixie fills Baron Mordo's shoes). The role of the Dread Dormaamu will be played by Discord (Does this make Screwball Clera?). Slendermane will be the Shuma-Gorath expy.

      ReplyDelete
    63. @koolerkid
Man, this fic is like crack, I can't get enough of it and I go crazy when I don't get my fix. Please hurry with the next chapter, I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms.

Oh, I almost forgot. I figured out how to fit Discord into this universe, two words, "Impossible Man." It fits because they're both shape shifters, have unusual senses of humor, and nobody can seem to get rid of them once they're there(Elements of Harmony excluded of course).

      ReplyDelete
    64. @Jacky2734
Just hang in there a bit longer, buddy. The next chapter is coming along nicely, it'll probably be done before the end of the weekend. Depending on proofreaders, that means you'll probably have it by Monday at the latest.

Also, Impossible Discord? Brilliant. Of course, Discord is significantly more powerful and malevolent than the Impossible Man. IM is just a very powerful shapeshifter who's mostly in it for laughs; Discord is a reality warper who could give Franklin Richards a run for his money and wants to plunge Equestria into chaos for the fun of it. Still, it's an interesting thought.

By the way, due to complaints on the other site where I post this, Iron Colt has been switched back to Iron Pony. Oh well.

      ReplyDelete
    65. @koolerkid

The way I saw the whole discord thing going was the he had several revelations upon being released from his stone prison.
      1. The Mane 6 had already overcame his brainwashing and defeated him and he was sure they could do it again.
      2. Thanks to the singularity Equestria was in a state of chaos he had never even thought of, and he liked it.
      3. He's had run ins with Thor and Loki in the past when Asguard still stood(yes, I'm saying he predates even the fall of Asguard) and wants to absolutely stay away from both of them.

Realizing all of this, he makes a deal with Luna saying that he just wants to be free, have a little fun, and enjoy the fresh air, and, if she doesn't have the mane 6 try to turn him back to stone, he will not get involved with the issues involving Loki and the Avengers, he will limit his reality warping to temporary changes no more the 25 feet away from his person, and he will limit his pranks to a Pinkie Pie level. Not having the time to deal with him, Luna makes him Pinkie Pie Promise and then tells him to get out of her sight.

All in all, it would just be a short side story to put in when you've got writer's block for the main story.

      ReplyDelete
    66. I hope you put in Phil Coltson during the inevitable "Avengers as a team down time" character moments. Also, I highly doubt it, but it would be awesome if there was a Captain Equestria about to be thawed out, though if there was, it'd be during the final fight, when they can't get to Loki, he thaws out due to an off center shot, or something, and then it turns the tide. Just my idea.

      ReplyDelete
    67. Hey kooler, I just want to remind you, "This is your story, no one else has a part in it."

So basically if you want to call Blueblood's new persona "Ferrum Caballus" which would be a latin pun. Do it without worry of anypony's ire. They may not like the name, but you know they won't stop reading the story. They will try and fail miserably.

      ReplyDelete
    68. OH! I know, you have to put in a Gelding sometime...means castrated

That seems a little OOC for him. He doesn't do deals or rules unless he can twist them to his advantage. Still, I'll give it some thought.

      @Chetoos
SHIELD doesn't exist yet, so Phil won't be needed. In fact, since this version of the Avengers is government-controlled, SHIELD may never exist (though I'll find some excuse for a Nick Fury expy, don't worry). And I've already got plans for the Cap.

      @Stoic
First of all, I just like making my readers happy. This story is as much for their benefit as it is for mine. And secondly, I find it amusing that you first post "you don't have to do what anyone else tells you" and immediately after post "you should do this".

Love the new chapter, especially the first line "Caramel, part-time farmer and full-time screw-up..." I have to admit, your idea for his special talent was also fairly unique, with his cutie mark I figured him to be the town's farrier. And giving him the type of Earth Pony Magic described in the story "Moonbeam" was a great homage and an ingenious idea. Although I would have liked to see him do a shield throw, it was still a very good chase scene.

Other than enhancing his physical abilities through the roof and giving him a super-sensitive "earth sense", Earth Pony magic is going to be mostly limited to small tricks unless he puts some real effort into it. Earth Pony magic is naturally a very passive form of magic; it's not very well-suited to active manipulation. After all, if I went overboard with the powers, he wouldn't really be Captain Equestria, would he?

    75. CALLED IT
      Then again I think everybody called it but still. ^^;
Glad to see cap make it in. He's perhaps my favorite of all Marvel's characters after all. I can't help but admit that I feel some level of kinship with Caramel here and this chapter really does a good job of bringing Cap to Equestria

I did have a couple of concerns though

First, a typo. "Caramel followed him to the glass chamber than was the Rebirth Machine" - Should this not be 'THAT was the Rebirth machine'?

And secondly, it said he went through boot camp for a month. Does this mean that both Loki and the Avengers have been just sitting around twiddling their hooves for a month while this has been going on? This is a rather hefty time jump.

But aside from that, excellent chapter! Loving it! :D

Typo? What typo? There's no typo here! *whistles innocently*

Seriously though, three proofreaders - including one English teacher - and NONE of them caught that? For shame!

Anywho, about the time skip. Blueblood's armor construction and preparation for the surgery took about that long, though it wasn't mentioned, and he spent the remainder of the time getting used to his armor. Spitfire is making arrangements with the Wonderbolts to have Soarin' take over as Captain, and getting ready for her last big show before she take a 'temporary leave of absence". Big Mac has been spending time with his family since he'll be in Canterlot for a while. He has occasionally had to go Thor to deal with a few out-of-control mutants and the like, however. Loki has mostly just been biding his time, since his plan isn't ready yet, though he has arranged a small hoof-full of attacks to keep everypony from getting suspicious. Thor handled them quite easily; they aren't really worth mentioning.

No, it's not his actual uniform. A beret is actually a part of more than one real-world Earth military uniform, so I decided to give him one. Why? Because berets are BUCKING AWESOME, and Caramel agrees with me.

He'll likely only ever wear it when attending an official function that doesn't require his Captain Equestria garb, but it will make as many more appearances as I can write in. Because I think berets are pretty much the ultimate in headwear, and it would make me sad if it never appeared again.

      ReplyDelete
    83. You know in Army National guard the Beret is used and I think the regulars too... not sure... On the other hoof, I have a beret styled toque.

Dude... Wolvie is X-men. Not Avengers. He did join the Avengers for a bit if my memory serves me correctly, but he's hardly a core player. He's far more iconic of X-Men, and so his pony-self would be more likely to show up with the X-Ponies (if they ever get written) then with Luna's Avengers.

I wouldn't call it writers BLOCK. More like writer's mud. The chapter is coming, but very, VERY slowly. I'm finding this chapter difficult, and I'm already on the second rewrite. However, thanks to some suggestions from a proofreader, I think I've sorted out what I was doing wrong. It'll probably be done by the end of the weekend at the latest. I'm REALLY sorry for the delay, everyone!

    96. You would think that after 9 chapters of awesomeness the prereaders would just pass the next chapter through as soon as it was submitted.

      ReplyDelete
    97. @Jacky2734
If they did that I'd slap them. My early drafts, while still full of awesome, are almost always riddled with small typos and mistakes. I'm a total grammar nazi, but I have a blind spot when it comes to stuff I wrote myself, so I rely on my proofreaders to catch them. This story'd be significantly less awesome if it was riddled with typos, don't'cha think?

Speaking of which, the proofreaders are looking over Chapter Ten right now! The new chapter will be sent in by tonight, and show up here tonight or tomorrow.

I considered a 5-6 pony team, but I went with 4 ponies for two reasons. One, I couldn't think of what other side characters I could use. And two, this way I have one of each species of pony - one earth pony, one pegasus, one unicorn, and one alicorn. Nice and balanced.

      ReplyDelete
    108. Wait a tick. Why are ponies the only mutants showing up? What about the griffins and Diamond Dogs and... really? I thought we had more species than that. Huh. BUT STILL.

Hawkeye almost has to be a griffin. Maybe one with crippled wings or something, I think I remember reading something about him suffering a major injury in his backstory.

And if you DO decide to use Wolverine, a Diamond Dog would probably capture him best, methinks.

      ReplyDelete
    109. @Multiversity
The mutants are mostly ponies because the Celestia event only covered a relatively small area. Only Canterlot and a few nearby towns were hit, and guys like Diamond Dogs and griffons don't hang around places like Manehatten and Ponyville much (with one or two exceptions).

If you want mutants of other species, and a world-wide change to all of Equestria, well... Be patient. Story isn't over yet.

      ReplyDelete
    110. HUZZAH!
I was getting a little nervous when it didn't update for a week. ^^; Glad to see you're back on top of things now!

Nice chapter here. It was fun looking at the whole situation from the various perspectives. Also, it's really funny to see that Prince Blueblood is something of Rarity's bitch, lol. He talks to her with this whole "sorry mom" thing...

Spitfire and Caramel continue to be awesome. I have to admit though, I'm itching to see what Loki's up to. Been a while nos wince we've seen him being all schemey...

      Can't wait for more! :D

      ReplyDelete
    111. @Dusty the Royal Janitor
Yeah, that chapter was tough. I'm back on top now, though!

The round-robin perspective was a lot of fun to write, actually. That was my proofreader's idea, and it's what set me back on track. So thank him for that!

Blue is totally Rarity's bitch. But it's not "sorry mom", it's "sorry honey". I've been trying to write them as being a lot like an old married couple :D

And don't you worry. Loki's just taking a small break. He's still very schemey, he's just letting the situation develop a bit before he gets back to active scheming. He's nearly ready for the next phase of his plan, though.

    113. Very nicely written, and I do admit a bit of love for the characters used, especially since some don't get as many fan projects done with them. Also gives me one more reason to hate Pinkie Pie, which I don't need one, but still.

Anyway, read up through chapter 10, good going so far, and I hope to keep reading more whenever you finish more. For now, will say, great going, though a little disappointed at the name drop for the team, for those unaware, it was actually Wasp of all people, who named them. This was during her bubble head valley girl days, and she picked the name because it sounded cool(According to rumor, that was how it went down in the office too, they liked the name, but never did think of a way to work it into the story). Would have been nice if Derpy or someone like her had proposed the name.

Hate Pinkie? Why do you hate Pinkie? Pinkie's cool.

Also, I did not actually know that Wasp suggested the name; I haven't read Avengers #1 in a LONG time. Not to mention it's easy to forget that one of the more badass action girls in Marvel (despite having lame powers) used to be, well... a fashion designer with insect powers.

      ReplyDelete
    116. The spoiler is that koolerkid is actually Loki, and this story is one of his schemes, which is probably something like a Pyrrhic victory. The heroes win, but barely, because Equestria as they know it will change completely.

    121. @koolerkid

I can hate her mostly because I knew a girl like her in high school, both the high points, and the low. I spent a cold February morning on the roof of my school, as the cold wind blew around us, and a cold drizzle rained down trying to talk her down from that cold ledge, with no one else bothering to help. Did I mention it was cold? Because it was. It worked, BTW, I got her down, but it was unfunness in the extreme, and while I still like her, people like her annoy me. Cold!!!

Also, yeah, it is sometimes hard to keep track. Mostly I remember that because Wasp is in a relationship with the second worst human being in the Marvel Universe, Hank Pym. That guy is a drunk, wife beating flankhole. Mind, Reed Richards still beats him as the worst. Seriously, dude invented and then used a coma gun on his own son when he thought he might have super powers. A coma gun!

    134. @koolerkid just sayin, think soarin will end up becoming wolverine (though i may be way off as i am usually a DC guy, so there may be someone else with healing powers that i dont know about...)

      ReplyDelete
    135. @Kilokk
Everyone and their grandma in Marvel has healing abilities. It's a dirt-common power, generally but not solely given to heavy-hitters.

I'm gonna say this one more time: SOARIN' IS NOT GONNA BE AN EXPY OF ANYONE. I gave him healing powers as a narrative device to explain why getting Hulked didn't kill him. He's just Soarin'. His 'power' is just a really slow healing factor that isn't strong enough to really be useful except for recovering a bit faster, and it gives him the ability to recover from what would normally be a permanent disability or even fatal (like a broken spine).

Wolverine, if and when I ever write him into Mare-vel Equestria, will likely be an OC, possibly a Diamond Dog. Soarin' does not have the attitude for it.

      ReplyDelete
    136. Hmm you could always do the whole Honorary Avenger route and introduce ponies with powers or skills but not have them join up. Say Braeburn as a Hawkeye with Lassos and or Pies instead of bow and arrows.

If one were to go the Caramel one sided ship Mac route things could get hilariously akward :p ah but right now I appear to be in a Macfire root cuurretly

    153. Woo! New Chapter!

Well I knew it was only a matter of time before Gilda showed up as a villain. What with your comments about her that you made earlier.

As I was finishing up with this chapter a thought occurred to me, I can't recall if you mentioned this before but where are they keeping the villains? Do they have their own version of the Negative Zone (project 42), the Vault, or some other maximum security prison?

      Either way, liked the update!

      ReplyDelete
    154. HOW DID I FORGET TO COMMENT ON THIS LAST CHAPTER?!

Excellent work as always. I never would have expected Gilda as the Juggernaut, but it actually kinda works. They share a very similar attitude in that sense. I have to wonder, though... what was with the whole "Acting drunk" bit before she got into the armor? Does she depend upon the armor to keep her thinking clearly and to relieve pain or something?

Also, it'd be great to see her interact with Rainbow Dash in this state... Rainbow is already damn near superpowered on her own, so I think she could take her...

Also, I just gotta say, Captain Equestria is awesome. Standing on piping hot metal to knock off the Juggernaut's helmet while riding on her back. Takes balls, man.

      Keep it up! :D

OH! Uh... *ahem* Celestia already had a prison designed to contain unicorns by dampening their magic. Ratchet up the power by a couple hundred times and you have a fairly effective power/magic dampener. However, the hardware required is big, bulky, and power-hungry, so it's mainly good for prisons. Luna is currently constructing a more specialized prison, but it won't be ready for a while. This was never mentioned in-story, though it should've been.

Plothole? WHAT plothole? No plotholes here, no sir!

      @Dusty the Royal Janitor
Ah, sorry, thought that was clear. Gilda was unconsciously resisted Trixie's mental enchantment. Once she accomplished the task Trixie was attempting to brainwash her into (put on armor, go wreck havoc), the headache went away because she was no longer fighting the compulsion.

And yes, the Captain has balls of STEEL.

    160. I dare say this fic is coming along swimmingly.

    161. @Koolerkid

Yes, you are wrong. I am male - Saintspirit the human and Saintspirit the pegasus pony are two very different persons. Still, thanks for including my character, and thanks for a great chapter!

    163. I love the latest chapter. Gilda makes a great Juggernaut!

And I just had a horrible thought; while the Mane Six are out of the running for getting super-powers, what if the CMC ends up getting some? Would they be an Equestrian version of Power Pack? And if their big sisters thought they were trouble /now/, just imagine the problems they could get into with super-equine powers!

    164. One, found an error. Hooves are insulators, thus Caramel wouldn't feel more than a fever in his hooves. Plus, they're made of keratin and bone, so burns are unlikely.

Two, my predictions. Deadpool as Screwball, Tennis playing stallion as Wolverine, Carrot Top as Banshee, and Derpy as either Ghost Rider or Dare Devil.

    165. @Kamineigh: Power Fighting Pony
Caramel's hooves are fine. It's his legs and stomach that got burned. After all, you land on a slippery metal object that's moving very fast and actively trying to buck you off, you're not just gonna stand there. You're gonna hug it tight. Caramel wrapped his forlegs around Gilda's neck, and got burned.

Also, those predictions... I might steal one or two, but I can't fit the entire Marvel universe into this one fic. I am planning spinoffs and sequels, however, so who knows?

    166. Excellent! Your command of Marvel and Ponies is fantastic! Your pairings of Marvel characters to ponies is quite good. I think you've hit the Caramel/Steve Rogers characterization perfectly. It lines up really well with Chris Evans' portrayal, which I also think was perfect. I can kind of hear Chris' voice saying the lines of Caramel ;)

Not gonna lie, as a Trixe fan, it always pains me to see her as a villain, but whatever, I'll accept it. As long as you keep some light involved for her... After all, she is just a bit of an overconfident show-off. She's certainly a much nicer pony than Blueblood.

      Trixie-rant over. (Trixie is bestpony)

You are also an extremely skilled writer! Your words flow smoothly with the action.

I especially loved the whole section where we were lead to believe the team was fighting, but they were just playing charades. That's just straight up good writing!

I can only hope that Joss Whedon's script is half as good as yours.

    167. Every time this updates I start break dancing. Is that normal?

    168. Ohhhhhhh BUCK! Shit just got real! It's the end of the Avengers! Everypony for themselves! AAAUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

    169. Great! The use of the current movie characters for adversaries is a wonderful idea!

I wonder if the weaknesses exposed of each of the characters is of similar stew.

Did any of the spirits or memories of the Asgard survive the aftermath of Loki and Ragnarok? I remember something of the legends stating that there would only be one Asgard to survive but I might be wrong, and you've already stated only celestia and luna were the ones to come from the remains.

    170. @The Commander
I'm glad you think so highly of my work! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. As for Trixie... okay, not gonna lie. This Trixie? Total, unrepentant, 100%, pure-grade evil villainess. Not because I don't like Trixie (I think she's awesome, and I certainly like her more the Blueblood), but because that's what the story calls for. HOWEVER! After I finish this story, while I plan to write a sequel, I'm first gonna take a break to write an unrelated ponyfic that has Trixie as a primary protagonist, largely redeemed and friendly, though obviously still arrogant. I hope that helps!

      @Nut Job
Yes, that is entirely normal. You needn't worry.

    171. Great chapter man, judging from what's happen with mainstream marvel avengers when this happens, I've got a pretty good idea what happens next. I'm guessing a Antagonist monologue, an unexpected event, and a few broken bones.

On a separate note, please do something with the Mysterious Mare Do Well... then again, she might be more of a DC character.

      ReplyDelete
    172. HOLY CELESTI- ...excuse me, I must go change...

      ...

      Okay there we go.

Now, I gotta say... you had me on the edge of my seat this past chapter. The more supervillains you brought int he more I held my breath, and I love the names you gave them. Sunny Blaze... Obsidian Shade. Very clever. And they're characterized very well.

However, as a fan of the Ghost Rider, and owning a fairly sizable collection of his trades from over the years, I must wonder at his alignment. Ghost Rider is a supernatural entity of justified vengeance, or that's what he's pitched as anyway. I understand his original idea came from trying to think up a supervillain, but his whole motif is one more of being Heaven's hitman, as they say. Somehow I don't think Spitfire would be a proper target. Sunny Blaze might want to do in Spitfire, but I don't think Ghost Rider (Flyer) would...

But then Loki was revealed and I forgot all about it. OH F*CK!!

      ReplyDelete
    173. @Dusty the Royal Janitor
Glad you liked it so much!

And as a fellow fan of Ghost Rider, I can say you're not telling me anything I don't already know. I can only claim creative license.

Really, there's no heaven or hell in Equestria, and the gods (or closest thing to them) run around among the mortals. The 'traditional' Ghost Rider just wouldn't work here. So the Ghost Flyer is a bit different. It's a powerful spirit of Vengeance that Loki bound to Sunny - ALL Vengeance, not Justice like Ghost Rider. It devotes all it's power to achieving vengeance for it's current host, regardless of justification.

Or, for a simpler explanation, it's really just Sunny Blaze being overdramatic. Take your pick.

    174. Dang it, I had a commment posted in but now it's gone.

I really like this crossover story, and I like how blended elements of the marvel universe into FIM. I'm more of a DC fan, not that I hate Marvel but this is awesome.

Reading this story inspires me to work on this crossover idea I had in mind for a while. Hopefully, I can get it on paper before someone else does. XD

    175. NO chance for a Flutter-Hulk in this storyline...huh ? :(

      ReplyDelete
    176. No Marvel-related work is complete without a Stan Lee cameo. Good idea.

      ReplyDelete
    177. That was one great cameo by Stan the Man, er, Mare.

      ReplyDelete
    178. How did I know you'd have Pinkie do something like that eventually, koolerkid?

      ReplyDelete
    179. @Ardashir: A mare is a female horse. It'd be Stan the Stallion but I get what you're trying to do.

      Oh, and great chapter, Kooler.

      ReplyDelete
    180. Stan Lee cameos are mandatory. Always.

Man, I'm so on the edge of my seat I'm close to falling off. Can't wait for the next chapter! I'll bet we're coming up close to the end now, aren't we? :D

      ReplyDelete
    181. @MasterofRokuStan the Stallion? *Facehoof* And I didn't even think of that! Your version is much, much better than mine.

      ReplyDelete
    182. HA! Stan Lee cameo. I feel like I should have seen that coming but I'll be honest, I didn't realize it until it was too late. The cutie mark alone should have given it away. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

Great Chapter, even if it seemed a little short.

      ReplyDelete
    183. Wasn't expecting Stan the Man, but your right. If you do something with Marvel your obligated to have him cameo in some way or form.
      Nicely done.

A nice mix of both the best(Thor, Ironman)and the obscure(Fin Fang Foom, Firebird[just wow, I only now of her because of her custume and the one story I read happened to have a literal meeting of everyone who's ever been an Avenger]), keep up the good work. Though it'll take me awhile to read back the previous chaps.

Also nice use of Gilda as the X-men Evolutions Juggernaught. That show had probably some of the better fights with him since X:AS back in the 90's.

      ReplyDelete
    184. And then Stan Lee was a pony. AND IT WAS AWESOME.

      ReplyDelete
    185. Stan Lee cameo?

OH GOD PLEASE LET ME DIE A HAPPY MAN RIGHT THIS INSTANT!

      ReplyDelete
    186. So - Hope you don't mind if I ask, but... Which one of the four pictures do you like the most?

      ReplyDelete
    187. OH MY BUCKING GOD!! PINKIE PIE CRASHING THROUGH THE FOURTH WALL TO ASK STAN LEE FOR HELP IS THE GREATEST BUCKING THING EVAR!!!!!!!!!

      ReplyDelete
    188. This story is INCREDIBLE! I'm not even that big of a fan of Marvel but you are putting me on that track, thank you.

Though I have a question, will there be a Black Widow in here, cause if so Cheerilee is my pick for BW, I don't know why, I just want to see her kick some flank in a hot black jumpsuit

      ReplyDelete
    189. Stan Lee's Cameo, was... strange. Entertaining, but strange. Great chapter thought!

      ReplyDelete
    190. Come on Koolerkid, you're killing me with anticipation. When's the next chapter coming?

      ReplyDelete
    191. @Jacky2734
Soon, my friend, soon. I've been having some writer's block, but I'm mostly over it now. The chapter is on its' way, promise!

    192. Remember Big Macintosh: With great power comes great responsibility.

    193. @Susano OT but: Say, you're not the same Susano from the Herogames forums, are you?

      ReplyDelete
    194. Yo koolerkid, you still alive. If so, can we get a status update?

      ReplyDelete
    195. @Jacky2734
Yes, I'm alive! In fact, the chapter is getting proofread as we speak! It MIGHT have to return to me for revisions, but even if it does it won't take long.

Everyone, I'm REALLY REALLY REALLY sorry about how long this took! I've been really busy with finals and whatnot, as well as several other projects I've been involved with. I've been having trouble finding the time and inspiration to finish this, but don't worry! It won't be long before I have more time than I know what to do with.
