i read this while i was watching/listening to My Little 1up, and it kinda fit together somehow.
Only one life, and no items? My greatest memories of Smash Bros. was all the random sh*t that me and my friends witnessed on the screen. One of the best involved an explosive party ball, a fan, Mr. Saturn, and a whooole lotta counters.

If anyone is wondering, the infinite cape glitch is a tech where metaknight does a downspecial and pressed upsmash repeatedly to stay invisible.
It is illegal in the tournament scene, so Twilight's gonna get banned. :P
Either that or Twilight is going to get disqualified for stalling, another rule that can get you kicked out of a tourney.

Lol edgehogging. It's such a good move in Melee. When you're doing a ledge animation, you're still on the ledge. Brings more strategy to the edgeguard/recover game
In Brawl it's kind of useless: If you roll onto the stage to gain invincibility, your opponent can grab it as soon as you do anything. Even if you roll late, they might still be able to grab it their magnetic reach and slow falling speed. You can't just wait on the ledge during an opponent's upb because you'll get hit. Edgeguard/recovery game is so limited in Brawl

Actually, you can hog if you have over 100 damage, but it's a very small timeframe; it's better to just reset the invincible frames with a jump.

I was once at a convention where, in the game room, there was some Super Smash Bros. Brawl on one of the TVs that was free for anyone who was interested to play. After observing some matches, me an a new-found acquaintance of mine deduced that the people we were to play with next were "tourney tards" - guys who'd go right to Final Destination without a second thought, for every single match.
Y'know what we did when it was our turn? PRESSED START ON THEM MUTHASUCKAS! The stage went to "Random", and even though it was the DK Jungle Beat-themed level, i was worth it to hear those dumb fantards immediately whine about it. :D

I'm not a Super Smash Brothers fan, so I'm sure there's a lot of things in these comics I'm missing. But still, they are pretty cute and funny. :D And of course Pinkie is twisting reality and breaking walls as always. lol

Goddess, these are all fantastic. XD The artistic style is simplistic yet delightfully expressive, and all of the dialogue/characterizations are hilarious. I can hardly wait to see more!

Twilight is a very clever pony, hiding till the smash ball turns up. But I was kind of hoping that it would show up and Rarity and Applejack would keep pulling themselves away from it until Twilight just pops in. Bit more exciting that way but still good.

Since Applejack was hanging off the edge, Rainbow couldn't grab on to it to recover. It's a move called "edgeguarding."

I think what he's getting at is that Rainow Dash wasn't seen using an Up-B move, and odds are she'd have 6 jumps and a glide like Pit, or at least 3 like Charizard.
The artist could probably just excuse Dash's lack of ^+B by saying that she had to use it to break the rope around her. Which would make AJ OP vs. Pegasi unless the rope disappears within a few seconds (likely the case)

Ah, that's too bad. I knew some people would be turned down because RD didn't get to kick ass.
The real reason is because, well, leaving the rest of the fight to RD and Applejack (the athletes) is what most people would come to expect, and to me it wasn't nearly as interesting. I thought it would be ironic to have RD knocked out first.

The author did a good job with the drawing, but the concept is rather weak and scrubbish. At best, the author is a local scrub.
It comes with no surprise that all people know about the Smash scene is no-items-fox-only-FD, edgehogging, and "camping is cheap." I shouldn't have expected more from a community of ponies. >_>
@cheesa Most people don't play fighters competitively, nor should it be expected of them. Competitive play is practically a part-time job, full-time if you aim to win major tourneys. Some people just want to play casually and that's fine. Also, competitive players have a bad rep of harassing casuals as it is, and comments like these don't help.
Besides, the fact that the characters are saying stuff like that doesn't mean that's actually what the artist/author thinks. For all you know Karzahnii is poking fun at newbies who cry foul.
I guess what I'm trying to see is to show some love and tolerance.

I totally agree. I'm no comp Brawler, I wouldn't know enough to make a comic that really nails the details of competitive Brawling. To someone who does, the comic would seem incredibly inaccurate and lame.
But on the other hand, as long as it's understood that (most of) the ponies are playing to win instead of for fun, it's the same story.

I cant think of many groups of gamers I hate more than Competitive Smash Players. So... Fucking... Annoying... Also, Rude, Ignorant, sumg, and just douchebags. I think @Cheesa just kinda proved that too.
If you want to play competitive fighters, pick up Street Fighter 3 or 4, or BlazBlue, or even the new mortal kombat. People who say X is cheap and Y is breaking a rule, and Z is unfair for their own honor rules or whatever built around an existing game are just trying too hard to make a decent game more than it really is. Its just sad...
And this is coming from someone who has been in (and won) multiple Guitar Hero and Rock Band, in which there's an incredibly over-rated elitest POS players who bitch on the legitamacy over leaderboard rankings over exploiting glitches, starpower BMPs, and modded controllers. And even with all that, Smash is still the worst.
This comic is great. Its a fun concept and picking apart whats awful about the smash bros community. I loved melee, and even though I own brawl, i never played it for more than probably 3 hours. It just wasnt GOOD... Also this style kicks ass.
@Matt Dusza Melee is just as competitive as any of those fighters you mentioned. Brawl though, that's another story...
Also, the people that bitch about X or Y being unfair aren't competitive players by definition.
