    2. They're cute when they're not being annoying.

    3. The fandom redeemed them, like it redeems everypony in the show.

Except for Blueblood. I've yet to see anything that made even a small part of me like him.

    4. Oh dear Luna, the end of Chapter 1 made my ribs hurt. Pinkie Pie swear I just crawled back into my chair, I was laughing so hard.

    5. Cutie Mark Chronicles made them grow on me a bit. Though to be honest they aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be.

Anyways loved the bit with Rarity's Novel

    6. Twilight and Macintosh, sitting in a.... tree?

      ReplyDelete
    7. This was great XD I love the CMC, especially Sweetie Belle.

Oh man, the thoughts that must have been going through AJ's head at the end of chapter 2.5 XDDD

    8. Take out the fillyfoaler business and this could be an actual episode...I didn't know Fluttershy had thought Rarity the stare haha X3

    9. Glad you all seem to like it. I'm trying to trim down the suggestiveness of future chapters so that it's more wacky humor and less "CMC getting into inappropriate content, hijinx ensue".

I liked writing the intermission the most. My entire notes beforehand for that doc are literally just "twilight/big mac innuendo and also they flip a tree"

    10. @Slowpoke
      Epic notes right there.

    11. First page in and I can see where this is going. I sense hilarious trouble ahead.

    12. ...And finished. That was brilliant. I'm really looking forward to reading more of this; you're quite the writer.

      ReplyDelete
    13. Quite a silly little story there, good fun had by all.

As for the CMC... I like them for the most part. They're fun to be with, and the only problem I really have with them is exemplified by Scootaloo's line in Cutie Mark Chronicles.

"Ugh, these namby pamby stories aren't getting us ANY closer to getting our cutie marks. They're all about finding your true self and other sissy junk like that"

... Um, HELLO! SCOOTS? YOU'RE MISSING THE WHOLE POINT!

      ReplyDelete
    14. My question is, are you building to a larger story or is this a series of silly vignettes? It's great as a series of vignettes, not as much if there's a larger story (since I don't see one yet. Then again, I've been known to miss things).

Well, it's a larger story in the sense that I'll be tying things together in one big tangled mess of a story that resembles a plate of spaghetti. It's mostly just an excuse to be silly and write something fun.

      >the only problem I really have with them is exemplified by Scootaloo's line in Cutie Mark Chronicles.

That's the whole point: until they figure it out, they'll be Forever Blank. Also, why waste a gag like this with a quick resolution? Drag it out several more episodes. (For maximum lolz, have one or two find their cutie marks while the other(s) do(es) not.)

    17. I really love the writing style. Very fresh.

    18. The very ending made me smile,

Poor Twilight, misunderstandings sure are funny

      ReplyDelete
    19. Just finished reading! - this was awesome! Not to mention hilarious! You've got a real Douglas Adams-esque gift for absurd turn of phrase.

      ReplyDelete
    20. Funny stuff. We need more comedy stories.

    21. My opinion on the CMC is that individually they are great characters. Scootaloo's antics with Rainbow Dash are great. Apple Bloom is freakin adorable. Sweetie Bell attempting to copy Rarity is a great sibling dynamic. Its just that when the three get together as a group they seem to lose the individual quirks that make them great and become a mass of slapstick and shouting that gets old fast.

As to the Fic itself. The wordplay is clever. Everyone feels in character so far. Rarity loving trashy romance novels is something I can actually see happening in the actual show. And the humor is nice and multi-layered. The only ding I can give is that the individual chapters don't quite jell into a larger narrative.

    22. My sides still hurt from that 1 line towards the end of part 1.

      ReplyDelete
    23. By Celestia, where do all these great comedy fics emerge from lately?
I definitly will wait for the next chapter, this stuff's amazing!

      ReplyDelete
    24. Careful with that ™ on Soon Slowlpoke, you know Blizzard uses that a lot.

      ReplyDelete
    25. Ha ha ha...I can just see Apple Bloom's cute innocent face "Sis, what's a fillyfooler...?"
One thing, though...exactly what did the CMC do to tick Granny Smith off like that, and then call themselves the Cutie Mark Crusader Fillyfoolers?! And honestly, trying to earn your cutie marks by being homosexual?!! A ZILLION LAUGHS!!

      ReplyDelete
    26. Pinkie Pie, Pinkie Pie, Pinkie Pieaaaaaaaauuuughhhh!

      ReplyDelete
    27. LOL at...

      a) Apple Bloom finding all the ways Rarity locked them in, and

      b) Sweetie Belle realizing right away that a hole punched through the second floor floor/first floor ceiling is unlikely to be well recieved by her sister.

    28. You know what? I haven't laughed yet once.

You know what else? I don't care. I have still been greatly enjoying this story.

      ReplyDelete
    29. @Baree
If you're not laughing, then I've failed at writing Pinkie Pie. Laughter's kind of her thing.

    31. I laughed after only a few sentences. Good sign that the chapter is gonna be amazing ;) which is was.

The part with Applebloom being not scared about the story, but Sweetie Belle cowering in a ball is some of the best imagery ever. XD Sweetie Belle really is the best CMC.

Plus: anything with Pinkie Pie is pretty much epic by association (except Cupcakes) :P

I really freakin' enjoyed this chapter. I demand mooooaaaar :D

    32. @Slowpoke

Heh. Sorry? I do see where the humour lies, most of the time. I think. And I do appreciate those moments. Humour is a personal thing though.

I admit that I do not really see any attempt at humour with Pinkie in the last chapter though. I mean, with the CMC, definitely. But anything Pinkie does and says? Not really.

But its still a very sound story all the same and I am looking forward to the 4th chapter.

      ReplyDelete
    33. Chapter 3: What the heck just happened there? O_o LOL from the sheer random absurdity that is Pinkie Pie. And poor Sweetie Bell's not having a good day, is she?

      ReplyDelete
    34. I was wondering when #3 would get here...
I love how you point out where fate could be playing with them.
And the Rarity/Pinkie nonsense. It's just too funny.
Where did she get the anvil?

      ReplyDelete
    35. Most of the time, I'm laughing on the inside. Like I get what you're doing, and it's funny. I'm just more like, "Hehe, that's pretty good" and not so much "LULZ! 1!!". I'm enjoying this one greatly. Perfect timing with Pinkie.

      ReplyDelete
    36. Really? I was laughing out loud the whole way through!

Can't wait for more, good author Sir Slowpoke!

I especially love your skill with what I call the Adams/Pratchett Effect, in making simple ordinary descriptions into utterly hilarious jokes, yet refrain from making them sound like over-worked mishmashes of everything but the kitchen sink. Bravo!

      ReplyDelete
    37. When I read the first line and chuckle, I know I'm in for a treat. =3

      ReplyDelete
    38. Chapter 3 continues to deliver! This is hysterical; it's a rare story indeed that can actually make me laugh out loud. Can't wait for more.

      ReplyDelete
    39. Damn, I don't know why I didn't comment on this sooner. Your writing style is bloody brilliant. I love all the narrative asides describing events like Rarity's glare and "Fate, Comedy and Physics collectively high-fiv[ing]." In terms of strength of prose, this is probably one of the best stories on the site. Keep it up, please.

      ReplyDelete
    40. some of the best writing I've seen in awhile.

      ReplyDelete
    41. XD You just gotta love the CMCs!

      ReplyDelete
    42. That was a riot!
Kids are at their best, worst and funniest when honest innocence is involved.

When Rarity doesn't want you to leave she goes all out doesn't she?

Looking forward to your next installment.

      ReplyDelete
    43. I loved how Rarity apparently got her revenge on Pinkie Pie for calling her shop gaudy. :D

      ReplyDelete
    44. i liked the part with the burning passion in manehatten xD

      ReplyDelete
    45. I think it would work better for Applebloom to say, "Pinkamena, Pinkamena, Pinkamena." instead. It just doesn't make sense as is, having it be a name that Pinkie isn't known as to the Crusaders but to us would make it funny and also remove the question for why Scootaloo would use Pinkie's name for her story when it's someone they already know and don't fear.

Plus, since Pinkie's darker self is often called, Pinkamena, it helps add to the "horror" of the story.

      ReplyDelete
    46. "Fate, Comedy, and Physics collectively high-fived"

That was so well written. I love the writing style just so much, and good god is the comedy tag a neglected one, and this deserves its 6 stars. I'm so sad that its lost to the archives, it would appear. Deserves repost. or new chapter.

Rather than gush about this fics perfection, I'l just make a few quick saves, immortalizing it on my laptop right quick.

      ReplyDelete
    47. I hope this story isn't dead, it's all gold. Most definitely deserves all six of its stars.

      ReplyDelete
    48. Fic is somewhat dead on account of running dry and writing myself into a boring corner. I'm kicking a few ideas around for other stories, but a smart brony wouldn't expect any sort of closure from my schizophrenic writing style.

      ReplyDelete
    49. Also thank you very much for the words of praise, I should not forget to mention that.

      ReplyDelete
    50. Douglas Adams? When did you start writing MLP fanfics?

      ReplyDelete
    51. @Slowpoke

I really wish there could be more of this... the amount of writing this quality is little and far between, and few stories I've read have made such perfect character interactions and made me laugh so damn hard.

COme back to us slowpoke. SUre it seems dead, but with your wit, and story can be revived! Such a good set-up for future stories! This is slice of life on funny 'roids!
