@Anonymous I'm guessing you did that on a calculator exactly as you wrote that, Anon, but that's not how the equation should be calculated (as there are brackets involved).

(Though personally, I think it's a bit of a loaded formula, I'd have made it a bit less ambiguous if I was doing it for real, not as a stimulus for discussion on the rules of mathematical priority.)

The sotry is referring to the equation "48÷2(9+3) = ?" which is (apparently) something of a meme, because it is not clear which is right way to solve it. (See the in the second post for a better explanation.)
Mathematics is done in chronological order. When it's only multiplication and division with no parentheses, then it's solved left to right. For a demonstration, however, I will do it the "wrong" way.

This needs a Sequel fast! This story was awesome, and I really want to see the interaction of the Mane cast with the Metal Robot Unicorn.If somepony dose make a sequel might I suggest the name Guardian or Blind for the Robt Unicorn's name.

I have a feeling that the reason why Twilight didn't know the answer is always 42, is because Twilight cant get past the bar tending section of the Guide with out making a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster for her self! xP
