    9. i, uhm, i don't know what a Mareep is. *eep hides*

as to the story, interesting take on the sometimes ... eccentric selection of technological innovations the writers gift the ponies. i'd give it a nice 4/5 but blogger hates my web browser and i can't get the stars to show. also, interesting take on the Pie 'rock farm.'

    11. So, Equestria is the ultimate snowglobe society, with Ponyville as a long-term horse breeding program?

No wonder why Discord is pissed.

'Cept it can't be Pinkie since the first paragraph states the old mare is a unicorn.

Still, good story. It blends Celestia as a benevolent ruler and Celestia as an immortal prankster quite effortlessly.

      ReplyDelete
    15. It ALSO states in the story that it's s mere year after Luna was freed.

    18. that was really good! it makes an eerie amount of sense too. Ponyville just seems so freaking idilic.

Applejack and Pinkie Pie are related

You wiLl have to wait for the next instaLlment to find out. This is Llama's project for pony writing month. A series of short stories starring Ponyville itseLlf, more than the ponies which appear in the tales.

Sorry Ford, this is the onLly format Ff.net offers. SomeLlama parasprited my googLle docs account so this is where it is.

    23. So Pinkie's grandmother is a unicorn, eh?

That explains less than it doesn't.

    26. >Description: An elderly pony tells the greatest secret in Equestria to a young pony
      >Her grin grew wider, beginning to resemble the one that the Princess Celestia displayed
-An ''elderly pony'' who apparently has the decisional power to order, cancel or accept GRAND SCALE projects that affect the ENTIRE Kingdom, yet she's not the Goddess-Princess Celestia (or Luna)...
I think there's a serious bug in the system or something ?

      >My family has held the Duchy of Canterlot for nearly one thousand years, and your family has been in faithful service for eight hundred of those
-Wait what ? ...she's not Celestia(Luna), but, huh... ''for nearly one thousand years'', ''for eight hundred years'' ...*Confusion ?*

      >you might learn to relax and (as the foals say) lighten up, like your sister Vinyl.
-...huh, wait... What now ? ''like your sister Vinyl'' ?

      >"Here, in this room are the records of my duchy for nearly one thousand years
      -...(sigh) Oh, just forget it...

      >"The Princess Celestia used the greatest magik
-You mean ''magic'', right ? ...at least it wasn't ''magick'' or ''magikc''...

      >the kind of magic you need to spell with a 'k' to prove how over the top it really is.
-Or, like Linkara once said : ''Because poor literacy is KEWL!'' (>-_-)> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moK7nE_UCqU

      >..."and that's how Equestria was made."
-...and so we never knew who in the 9 Hells this random OC pony was, that apparently has control over the center of the Kingdom, and the economy and industry of it.
Also, how are ''geniuses'' supposed to emerge from Ponyville with advanced technical and technological knowledge (in order to invent stuff like planes, trains, etc...) if this region is a sealed cultural wasteland, with no/to little progress or change coming to it ?

... It wasn't ''bad'', per say, but it just raises a lot of questions, and wasn't 'that' interesting of a concept (at least, the way it was put)... So... in a few words : I didn't get very interested by the story (the 'idea' could have been used better, me think) ...

really? i'm not the author but i can answer these.

1> the 'elderly pony' is a Duchess, not immortal. her great-great-several-times-removed-grandfather was given this task and her family has kept it for the last thousand years. and, uhm, you do realize that's how feudal systems work, right? barring war or political shifting, a family can have a massive landholding for a thousand years.

2> his family came into service to HER family 200 years after the charge was set on them. 1000-800 = ... 9_9

3> random fan shout out, nothing more. also, notice the butler's name is Pen Scratch. Vinyl Scratch, Pen Scratch ... ?

4> see 2. also 1, as while she wasn't there when the Duchy was founded, it is HER duchy now as it passed to her on the death of her parents.

5> i noticed that as well. 'magick' was so named by the Spiritualist movement in the late 1800's to differentiate true spiritual workings from stage magic. personally, i think it's all hogwash.

      6> see above -_-

7> And that's how reading 'Princess Celestia settled this land on Grampy Apple Pie' and not managing to tie that to the famous pink party pony Pie we all know and love. Or at least her Grammy Pie :P

      Also, random Eureka! shout-out.

i'm sorry if i came off as cross, i'm just annoyed. the majority of these things were obvious to me on a single reading. i, i really can't see how you'd be confused.

-Last time I checked, they had trains, big cities, sewing machines, technologies...

So... not so medieval in the series.

They just have something ressembling relatively close to a 'Constitutional Monarchy', that's all.

-Don't make those eyes. It was only a statement of numbers, pointing toward the LONG time involved.

-She still remain a random, unknown OC pony from, apparently, ''somewhere'' in Pinke Pie ancestry...

-Also... something people apparently never catch on... it's a ''running commentary'', written from start to finish, as the read progressed. (only slightly edited, at the end)

... It's just that the whole idea could have been handled better, in a more interesting way ...

      ReplyDelete
    29. @Nova25

i didn't say medieval, i said feudal. and there are some feudal societies that still exist on Earth to this day. they are rare, but they do exist. and there's no evidence that Equestria is, well, anything. we know they have a Princess, a royal family and that local matters are handled by a mayor. that's it. it could be Absolutist Monarchy, Constitutional Monarchy, Meritocracy, Theocracy ... there's no firm evidence for any particular system from what i remember.

anyway, again i apologize if i came off as angry or upset. i probably was and i should have kept my big mouth shut. i just, i don't know. i'm sorry.
