• Foreign Toys heading to US Shelves soon.

Some more toy news from over on MLP Arena.  Apparently the Camping trip / Cherilee's School house sets are scheduled to release on 8/1/11 around the USA.

NOTE: The Camping Set was actually fixed to include the correct ponies, it was originally mixed up though.

On top of this, it looks like those recolor ponies are actually currently in transit to all stores currently carrying pony stuff.

You can find the MLP Arena post here!

Thanks to Sheldon for the tip again! I really should check that site out more.

    5. why does the rainbow dash toy look bald?

    6. Every time I see these Pony toys, My rage grows slightly higher.

No other fandom must know how it feels to want toys for a show MEANT TO SELL THEM, yet only recieve garbage in return that does nothing and only vaguely resembles the characters in question.

    7. So... Applebloom grew wings, turned orange and got an old lady purple-rinse, and Sweetie bell appears to be hooked up to a heart-shaped IV drip.

    8. Shmoogy: It looks bald because that mold lacks the "Bangs" that the regular Rainbow Dash figure has.

How they confused Scootaloo and SweetieBelle is beyond me, but a baby Pegasus and a baby unicorn together? It looks to me like it was meant for the fans to make Baby Luna figures.

    9. Hey, check out that applebloom, eh? You know the pegasus filly that can't fly and idolizes rainbow dash? I wonder if they'll make a set with Rarity's Sister Applebloom, as well as Spike, Applejack's dragon assistant who helps her rearrange the clouds in the sky.

    10. I don't know about you guys but this is the closest Hasbro has ever gotten in actually making Rainbow Dash look like the actual pony from the cartoon.

    11. I'm really beginning to hate Hasbro's toy department. The Hub is still golden, though.

    12. The Rainbow Dash camping set makes me think of the picture where Twilight is walking in on here in a tent putting makeup on.

    13. What you chatting about? This RBD is the same as the RBD you get in all those other packs!

How can Hasbro get Scootaloo confused with Applebloom? I mean come one, Scootaloo has existed some time prior to G4!

    14. Woo hoo...
If I ever was going to get one of those brush-able recolors, I'd get Roseluck-Oh wait! Good thing that she's a pocket pony. I may have to get the CMC dolls. Too cute to resist X3

    15. CMC Dolls? What? Where? What do you mean by dolls?

    17. So, at some point are we going to get a baby earth pony with a pink bow named Scootaloo?

      Oy-vey.

    19. Cant wait for the set featuring the shy Pegasus Twilight Sparkle and her pet bunny Spike.
Seriously Hasbro? What, I don't even know. How do you mess up on something like this?

      ReplyDelete
    20. @Anonymous
I meant the brush-able toys. I have a tendency to call the plastic toys dolls for some reason...

    21. "NOTE: The Camping Set was actually fixed to include the correct ponies, it was originally mixed up though."

Did you mean the "Fun at the Fair" set, Seth?

    22. Guh! I really wish their hair didn't look so ridiculous.

    23. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that "Blossomforth" looks a love child between Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy?

      ReplyDelete
    24. Wait is this a case of scootabuse by hasbro

      ReplyDelete
    25. Why in Equestria would Rainbow Dash go out on a camping trip? lawl.

      ReplyDelete
    26. I actually think Blossomforth is pretty cute

Thankya kindleh. Thinking about it, I'm with the anon above, this is a clear case of psychological Scootabuse on Hasbro's part.

    29. It's funny with all the bitchin and moaning people throw at these toys you'd think they'd be the ultimate shelf warmers, but no.... again just like with the blindbag size ponies good luck actually finding any of these recolors on store shelves before the damn scalpers grab'em all and toss'em on ebay at jacked up prices as "rare" or "special edition" ponies.

      ReplyDelete
    30. Guys, the whole Scootaloo error got fixed, relax.

Also about time that they make it to the shelves, I've been awaiting to get a Dewdrop Dazzle and make her own darling personality<3

      ReplyDelete
    31. I actually really like the name Blossomforth. Her color scheme, though, seems kinda... meh.

      ReplyDelete
    32. The error was fixed, but the error was still made. It was an error that said "we really don't give a shit". That's what we take issue with.

And Sweetie Belle still looks like she just wandered out of the paediatric ward.

    33. Aw man, these brushable toys are sad compared to the molded hair versions. I'll have to go to the craft store for a day to just brainstorm... and just see where my brain takes me.

At least when they butcher the colors on molded versions, you can still paint them. Still, these brushable versions are better than nothing. I bought brushable Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, & Rarity to finish what the 5 pack fails at. Why the hay don't they have a Luna 5 or 6 pack? It'd have to have a PROPERLY molded Luna, sized between Celestia's stature and that of regular ponies. It's also need molded hair versions of Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, and maybe Gummy and Angel in place of Spike's position. Why does this not exist already?!?! Anyway, I'd like to form molded hair that can be simply attached to replace the hair on the brushable toys. I'll probably just sculpt it till it fits and looks right, make a silicone mold, and pump out a couple copies using colored plastic. I know a few options for colored plastic that can be easily formed to a mold with a reasonable level of heating. If I can find proper color matches, then it might be possible to produce molded hair "caps" relatively easily. Fluttershy and Rarity would be easy, as they have only one hair color. Dash would be a whole different story. Maintaining the rainbow of colors in her tail and mane would be difficult (it'd likely be a bit wavy or blurred... Another brainstorm... Subsequent layering in multiple passes, with an edge trim of the leading edge would greatly reduce color bleeding... Crikey!

I actually do know a person with an injection molding machine, and I understand the concepts, but it's just not available to me. I have gotten some interesting ideas from some of this guy's fishing lure line... He's able to make complex shapes that hold their appearance, color, and shape, but are still highly flexible and durable. I may have to get in touch and find out what materials he is using.

I could totally see such material molded into hair that is designed to conform to the TV show form, color, and appearance, but is flexible enough to make it compatible with the toys with the rotating heads. I'll have to experiment!

I have these crazy visions of jiggly, wavy Celestia hair, made from fishing lure plastic, dancing in my head??? I'd pondered whether or not such a thing was even plausible, and I was all "HUUGGGHHHHHAAAAA!!!!" :)

WHY IS HASBRO NOT DOING THIS!!!!

Well, the point is, I've gone and boldly breached that first step... I have bought spare ponies for the sole purpose of reenacting cupcak... err, I mean experiment with custom ponies. Yes, experiment... I even got a spare Pink Chinese Talking Trollestia (Super Vain Airhead Edition) for Cupka... err... FOR SCIENCE. Yes. For Science.

      Confound these post midnight brainstorms!
They drive me to insomnia and also just one more Pony FanFic...
Oh, and what's just one more...

    35. HA! I also forgot to mention, considering the whole name fail on the box...

I bought a McDonald's Fluffershy on ebay... Yes, the person called her FluFFershy.

Cue the epic teary eyed Rainbow Dash laugh!

I did want to make one more statement...

We ultimately want Hasbro to just make the stuff right in the first place. Hasbro gets all legal mumbo jumbo picky about product ideas and intellectual property rights and all... You can't just go to Hasbro's site and say "Hey, you should make this, cause I'd totally buy it". The comment will hit the "Legal Self Protection Field (tm)" and they delete the message and won't pass on your ideas... The way to bypass that legal self protection field is to ask where the product is available for purchase, They can only tell you it does not exist... Yet. By forcing the question in that manner, it bypasses the Hasbro legal self protection field most of the time. Never sound like you are suggesting a product, or know a product does not exist. Instead, ask where you can buy. Ask where the other half of the 5 piece gift set with Luna and the other 3 ponies can be found, cause you've found Celestia and her 3 Elements of Harmony ponies, but not Luna and the other 3 Elements of Harmony, and it's driving you crazy that you can't find it in stores anywhere. Be smart about it...

And let the flood of "Where can I buy..." messages begin!

Complaints about the products are OK too...

"Why is Princess Celestia the wrong color. She's white on TV, but your toy is pink... EVEN THE BOX shows a white Celestia!" also works just a well. Watupwitdat?"

    42. The more I see these toys, The more I get the feeling that this is Hasbro trying to make money off a screw-up at the factory. Hey, If I ended up with 40,000 recolors of Rainbow Dash, I'd at least try to get some of my money back.

      ReplyDelete
    43. So... - when do we get the REAL merchandise stuff ?

I WANT MY PINKIE PIE COFFEE CUP NOW !!!

      ReplyDelete
    44. I just want more McDonald's toys.

      ReplyDelete
    45. I wish the set included Apple Bloom and Scootaloo instead of Sweetie Belle, since I already got my Sweetie Belle from the set with Pinkie Pie. Why does she need to be in two sets?!!!

      ReplyDelete
    46. Since everypony else has already pointed out everything else obviously wrong with these toys, I would like to point out what Rainbow Dash is teaching little girls about camping here...

So, remember girls, when you're camping and you can't sleep because it's cold in your tent, build the fire INSIDE, so it keeps in all the heat and you stay nice and toasty!

      ReplyDelete
    47. Oh thank god. I need 3 Blossomforth's by this point and finally they are coming to the states.

Also I don't know where the expectation for molded hair ponies is coming from. Except for the smaller toys the MLP line has always had nylon hair. It's not that hard to rehair a pony anyways for those who want to repaint.

      ReplyDelete
    48. At Anonymus 2 post above: Lol about the tent!

I love the sets and it's indeed a pity there is another Sweetie Belle and no Applebloom instead.

The ice-creams are maybe to small, but the mugs looks very nice.
Rainbow is the kind of girl who like to go camping I think, but you can also make a camp with the mane 6, well without Rarity I suppose.

      ReplyDelete
    49. YES! I've been looking for Lillyblossom for MONTHS; her box art is beautiful and not just a recolor! (She is also a likely candidate for a Derpy mod...heheh.)

      ReplyDelete
    50. Of course, there can't be a Toy Set where the Colors aren't Accurate. I thought "Apple Bloom" was Scootaloo! >_>

      ReplyDelete
    51. This fandom doesn't have to complain about cheap fan recolors of the mane cast...

...because Hasbro does them for us, with the official toys. -_-

      ReplyDelete

    53. The Cutie Mark on Dash is backwards. This angers me..

      ReplyDelete
    54. *Looks at picture of Rainbow Dash doll with backwards Cutie Mark*
*Quickly picks up Rainbow Dash figure next to my bed*
      *Notice its also backwards*
      fffffffffFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

      ReplyDelete
    55. At least Rainbow Dash has her usual Cutie Mark, even if it is backwards. My McDonalds Rainbow Dash just has a red lightning mark. Still, she looks way more show accurate than that thing.

Hasbro. You...you have to realize...COME ON, YOU CAN SEE THE CHARACTERS RIGHT THERE ON THE PACKAGE. I get that Hasbro is still under the impression that Friendship is Magic is a girl's show and that oh yay brushing hair is so much fun am I right girls yaaayyy, but real hair does not work when the characters have such spiky or cartoony hair. And, more of a nitpick, but I wish they would have Rainbow Dash glaring. She looks so unnatural with that plain, dopey-eyed stare. I mean, a glare would be about twenty percent less eye to show. Isn't that some sort of profit?
