ReplyDeleteI'm a little surprised at the comic strip prize. $50 seems pretty low, since comics are often tougher to do than single images. If it were up to me I would make comics worth at least as much as a piece of art.
ReplyDeleteThis is still an AWESOME idea, though, and putting the deadline at the end of June ensures lots of bronies will be steeped in MLP content even six weeks after season one ends.
Too bad there's no prize for writing, since I can't draw to save my life. But a fic contest would probably need to be its own separate entity.
I have an idea for a PMV, though...

ReplyDeleteI think it's because art can (and will for cash) be extremely detailed, while comics don't even have to look good, they just need to be funny. Visuals help, but if the jokes aren't good then it's not gunna win.
what does it mean "no OC" for the art? Am I supposed to re-draw something that already exists?

ReplyDelete@andrea, i will most likely add that onto the video trailer entry. I originally wanted to keep the slew of incoming ytp videos at bay and couldn't have a "general pony video" without accepting those. sorry for the inconvenience. I will update the contest in a month or so and there may be a minor change here or there and i may add that suggestion. either way i won't be changing anything so much as to completely void whatever work had been done up to that point.

No offense blog brony, but "pretty much" every form of art also includes writing, which this contest does not include. I don't care - on the contrary, it's probably better that it excludes fanfiction. I'm just saying, you are prolly gonna disappoint writers who click the thumbnail only to find no mention of writing at all :)

ReplyDeleteFor best remix in the Music Category, I'd say DJAelxs for his Dubstep Remix of Cutie Mark Crusaders theme song.
ReplyDeleteFor best Complete Piece in the Art Category, I'd say is 14-bis by far. Just look at a few of his artwork. They're all amazing.
However, I really like UnanimousDeliver's remixes, and he posts them more frequently, unlike Alex S, who only ever posted 1 MLP song so far, or ever.
And same with John Joseco. He posts mlp art frequently too, much more than 14-bis.
