• TrotCon 2016 Announcement!

TrotCon is already ready for 2016 as they are pleased to not only announce the return of the convention for 2016, but have a special guest announcement: Pixelkitties! That's right, after being away from the fandom for most of this year she will be making a return next year as she attends TrotCon as a vendor and guest, something I'm sure she will be doing for her other conventions as well!

Check on after the break for the full details.

Hey, friends. Got some information for you. You probably know some of it, but not everything. Listen up. Turn off that new Dr. Dre album for like two seconds.
It's been almost a month since TrotCon 2015 ended -- thanks again for coming, you guys are the best -- and we're already gearing up for 2016. We've got a venue to talk to, potential guests to call, badges to sell, applications to take very soon... yeah, it's already getting busy on the old homestead.

Let's start with what most of you already know: our theme. If you've been on our website or seen our social media in the last 24 hours, you've already seen the switchover from magic (which we'll miss! A lot!). What's this year's, you ask, as though the posted art wasn't a dead giveaway?

How's space sound? Sound good? Aside from the whole no-one-can-hear-you-scream think, that is.

So in 2016, the official theme of TrotCon will be space, as we announced at this year's closing ceremonies! As with past years, the theme is 100 percent not mandatory; instead, it's a fun thing for us to consider when we're planning events and decor, and for you to factor in when you create your cosplays. Get thinking, by the way! 11 months to go!

What we're possibly most excited about the space theme just has to be how we're splitting all of you up for 2016, like we did in 2015 with the different houses pertaining to the princesses (Lunaris, Solaris, Eros and Umbra!). This year, there are but two: the Lunar Republic (Luna!) and the Solar Empire (that'll be Celestia, y'all). Choose wisely your allegiances. They're gonna mean a lot at this year's con. More than they ever did in 2015.

Oh, as for the thing you didn't already know: we have our first guest!
Remember when Pixelkitties, one of the fandom's most respected artists who came out to TrotCon in 2012, 2013 and 2014, was announced for 2015 but had to cancel? Well, we hoped we could snag her again for 2016 -- and guess what? It's happening. She's happening! Pixelkitties will head out to TrotCon 2016 not just as a vendor but also as one of our fandom guests. You'll be able to purchase some of her amazing wares -- art, sure, but there's so much more! -- as well as find her around the convention and on a panel or two. Maybe you'll get into a 30-minute exchange about craft beer, too. It could happen, only on The Hub! (Disclaimer: It can't happen on The Hub anymore. RIP.)
One last thing: applications for vendors, musicians, panelists and staff are not up yet. But they're going to be! We'll let you know when, but they'll be available in early September at the very latest.

And that's just the beginning, y'all. More fandom guests. More VIPs. More EVERYTHING! It's gonna rock.

Sound like fun? Pre-registration for 2016 is now open, with $30 weekend passes available through Sept. 21. That's three days of pony fun for less money than it'll be if you buy at the door, even if you buy for only Saturday! Food for thought, eh?
