I'm glad Fluttershy gets another episode, but I'm also not thrilled that Rainbow Dash may get the spotlight, too (since she has the most episodes of the season already). Maybe this will focus more on Fluttershy. I'm a little disappointed that Scootaloo is still without an episode of her own this season, though. Still has some episodes left. Will we get five episodes to look forward to in March? There are five Saturdays next month, so we'll see.
I've been looking forward to more Fluttershy. :)

Wow, awesome. I am SO glad they just put the FS episodes at the end of the season rather than leave her out altogether like they pretty much did with AJ in season one. Better late than never, more Fluttershy is always welcome. And further mixing my two main interests of meteorology and ponies is a sure-fire way to make me excited about this episode. ;D

The Mysterious Lives of the Pegasi!
Can't get excited. I feel that I'm far less invested in this show now. I'd normally be excited about a Fluttershy episode but so much of the magic of this show was lost for me. I wanted to listen to Smile before going to bed... but I just couldn't enjoy it. Allot of the fun seems gone now. These episodes will be good regardless but fuck now I only see this as business. Granted that's the shows main purpose, being a big fan of animation I liked to believe this show was more of a love letter to its fans. I'm just really no longer emotionally invested in this show like I was. Fuck I need to go to bed. Maybe I'll care again tomorrow.

Well. Let's face it, her working with Iron Will is what one calls the "conflict" of the episode the part where the lesson to be learned is played out and learned.
If I had to guess the real conflict is, it's that she changes for the worst.
What worries me the most so far is that the Pegasi cast have the least depth to them in the whole series and they're forever trapped in status quo, with the sole exception of RD and her reading.
This looks to be a repeat episode with probably some Derpy throw-in to make the majority yell 'OMG, BEST EPISODE EVER!'
Any back-story is likely to get shafted to status quo post-episode.

Assertiveness and self-consciousness are two different things. Hoof episode will probably deal with her overcoming issues of confidence in her opinions and differences with others. This sounds more personal than social (or maybe she has some physical attribute, like her face, with how she covered it with her hair as a filly, she becomes self-conscious of).
Somepony's problems are not always worked through in a day ^^. I'm thinking Iron Will will kinda give her poor advice in that particular episode but she learns to speak her mind more, at least amongst her friends.

I has a time machine!
I found that, when I placed a mattress on top of a frame designed to keep it off of the floor, I can travel forward in time by lying on it and closing my eyes. I close my eyes because of the fact that when you do travel through time, there are some very trippy images, and full exposure to them can be mentally damaging. Some still seem to leak through, but my mind makes it so I forget most of them.
I don't have it perfected yet; I can seem to only jump ahead in time around 6-9 hours. It does have a nice side effect of refreshing me though, leaving me fit to take on the new time period.

Oh great. Now people will whine and complain about 'THERE ARE TOO MANY FLUTTERSHY EPISODES'.
I say it's about damn time, considering Fluttershy had way more influence on the show in the first season. Good thing that S2 was just flat out amazing so I don't mind at all though. I just hope people don't suddenly go on a hatefest about Shy or how she's OH MY GOD SO OUT OUT OF CHARACTER for whatever she does on the episodes.
She should probably check out some self-help books from Twilight's library...

Given that the plot is helping out the Pegasi weather patrol with rainy season, I think this episode might have more to do with Fluttershy's physical meekness as a week flyer than with her social meekness. That's how how I'm currently predicting this episode will be different from Putting Your Hoof Down.

Took the thoughts right out of my head. This does sound like Fluttershy having to overcome her insecurities regarding her "poor" flying skills. Somewhat different than learning to be more verbally assertive. We've seen she's a more than adequate flier when she's with her friends or animals, ie. when she feels comfortable with her surroundings. Doing so in public, among strangers, is an entirely different thing. I mean if her scenes in "The Cuite Mark Chronicles" is anything to go by, she's probably terrified of being laughed at.
Hopefully this episode will expand on Fluttershy and Dash's friendship. Besides "May The Best Pet Win" and "Sonic Rainboom" we've seen very little interaction between just the 2 Pegasi, and considering they've probably been friends the longest of the Mane 6...
In conclusion: more Fluttershy episodes, buck yes!

It's about time we got a Fluttershy episode. She hasn't been a focal point all season long. Every time we saw her she was taking a back seat to the other Mane Six. Thank goodness someone spotted this.

I think the difference between this episode and "Putting Your Hoof Down" will be that this episode won't be about her shyness; it will be more about her not wanting to do things she might consider harmful. That being said, the title makes me think she will once again find her inner-Sadist and go a little too far.

It's ok, you can be interested in other things besides ponies. It doesn't have to be that important to you but just watch it if you want to.
If you find you have a general lack of interest in things that used to interest you, it might just be that you need to move on to other hobbies.
If actually feel like you might be depressed then do what you can do to treat the depression.

When is a fluttershy episode gonna be different? I really try not to hate her but its hard with crap like her 2 new episodes. "I'm shy and weak, now I'm not! Wait, thats not working out for me, I'll change back!" The end! I just wish every Fluttershy episode wasn't the same old boring Fluttersy episode. They are all practically the same episode....... I dont know, maybe Rainbow Dash will at least make the episode fun or different. (Sigh)
Should be a fine episode. I just hope Rainbow Dash doesn't become Fluttershy's constant antagonist throughout. I prefer seeing their relationship one where RD is merely impatient, but still obviously wants to help her oldest friend (a la Sonic Rainboom). As opposed to the "Let's ditch Fluttershy" mentality from most of the Dragonshy episode.
That said, she's a good source of conflict for the yellow pegasus.

You know, this could be a more sociological thing. Maybe other Pegasi misunderstand and look down their nose at Fluttershy? There's definitely an undercurrent in the Sonic Rainboom and chronicles episode that Pegasi do aggressively judge each other's merits based on how well they fly. Add to that the Pegasi are the traditional wardens of the weather, and not only does Fluttershy not do that, she doesn't even help out on the weather team during Winter Wrap Up! She goes to the Animal team. So I assume there's some kind of major weather event, and every Pegasi wing is drafted, but the other Pegasi may not consider Fluttershy a "real" pegasus, and that's what it's about. Maybe Rainbow Dash will once again have to defend her honor?
@Scott_LochmoellerI could be off base, but this premise does sort of tie into a theory I've had about Dash and Fluttershy for a while. Af fillies, I think Dash saw weak flyer Fluttershy as a kindred spirit. Sure Dash was better at flying, but it still wasn't very controlled, as per her "rainbow crash" nickname. And yes, I do subscribe to the shipping theory that the young Dash may have had a crush on Fluttershy. That's why Dash rushed to defend her honor. But then, what happens after the race is over? What's that? Fluttershy is on the GROUND? why? what, she intends to LIVE DOWN THERE? And take care of ANIMALS? Like some kind of earth pony? To me, Rainbow Dash may have seen this as Fluttershy giving up on flying, and in essence giving up on even being a pegasus. And if that's how Dash took it, then Dash may even have taken this as a personal betrayal by Fluttershy, given Dash staged the race to defend Fluttershy in the first place.
So Dash lost respect for her, and fell in with the likes of Gilda, and picked up pranking. Then Dash left Flight Camp. Whether she quit or was drummed out is still unclear, and it was a minor scandal in her social group. I get the sense that she may have drifted for a while, before finally ending up in weather management for Ponyville and the surrounding area. Dash still lived in the clouds, but not in Cloudsdale, just in her own house over Ponyville. And being that Ponyville is a traditional Earth Pony community, (though it's more integrated now,) Dash may have found it bitterly ironic that in the end her fate may have been more like Fluttershy's than she ever thought it would be. And this softened her resentment to Fluttershy, somewhat.
Still, Dash is a Pegasus, and still flies, lives in the sky, and handles the weather. In early season 1 some of that old resentment of
"pegasus quitter" Fluttershy does show through, particularly in Dragonshy when Dash treats Fluttershy as "The Load." But that same episode was a turning point for the pair, as Fluttershy bested the Dragon when Rainbow Dash couldn't. This didn't go unnoticed by Rainbow Dash, and Dash did now try to patch things up with Fluttershy for real. It was a rocky path, (Sonic Rainboom shows that at that point Fluttershy is not the friend Dash would have chosen to join her, if she thought she had a choice.) But Fluttershy stood up for Dash, finally returning the favor. And Fluttershy did cheer the hardest and loudest during the second Sonic Rainboom, a fact I hope Dash was made aware of later. Finally, in "Return of Harmony 2" Fluttershy caught Dash, essentially allowing her to be saved.
And it's been interesting, because the pair, Fluttershy and Dash, seem much closer in Season 2. They work together as a team when needed, such as "Secret of My Excess" and "Last Round up." And keep in mind it was Dash who formed that team. But what really impressed me was Cider Squeezy, where Dash made a point of Grabbing Fluttershy for the line. To me, their relationship grown and shown a real arc over the series, to the point that you could make a solid case for Dash considering Fluttershy her best friend. And that was NOT the case in the first half of season 1.

So actually, an episode spot lighting Fluttershy AND Rainbow Dash as friends in a Pegasus specific situation has me rather excited! And while I could be wrong, if the episode deals with what I think (and hope) it deals with, this could be much less redundant than people are fearing.

This one doesn't seem like it's about Fluttershy being shy as much as it's about her not liking/doing things pegasi are "supposed" to do. So it's possible that Fluttershy might not be the one who's actually learning something, but a one sentence plot description isn't really much to go on - the one about last week's episode made it seem like Pinkie was going to have to accept that Cranky wasn't going to be her friend.
But at any rate, it's good to see some focus on the pegasi. Of the mane 6 and the CMC, the pegasi are the only ones whose families have never been mentioned, and seem to have the least amount of backstory.

You know, that's a lot for food for thought. The interactions between Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy have been very interesting. I can't say much to the matter, but I have to give credit for your thoughts and interpretations.

This episode will be at least centered on two ponies rather than just one, which is the curse of season 2.
recently the screen time analysis for season one was brought up and you can see that even in character-centered episodes you could still see a good amount of mane 6.
Now we are served with episodes like the Pinkie ones, where 95% of screen time is just one pony. The upcoming FS episode will likely follow that fashion, with "Iron will" as the supporting character.
I still have high hopes though.
Finally Fluttershy gets some much needed recognition
