• Story: A Cup of Joe

[Normal] It's Descendant, and it's based off that image, so just read it alright?

    Author: The Descendant
Description: Pony Joe awakens before the dawn each morning, readies himself for his day, and them walks through Cantelot's cold and silent streets to his doughnut shop.

Life has become pretty mundane for Joe, but as he serves his customers and chats with his regulars he realizes that he has come to rely on that repetition...he relies on it to keep from remembering.

As a casual utterance by a new customer sends Joe into a spiral of haunting memories we learn about his life...and what he must give up if he wishes to move beyond his past.

    6. No shipping tag. That's good considering the picture. I don't know if the world is ready for a twilightxJoe ship.

    7. @Aeolus
A shipfic of JoexTwilight was exactly what I was afraid of before I scrolled down to see the [Normal] Tag.

I'll be putting this in my "To Read" folder.

    10. Well I just read it.

Fantastic story. All I have to say. Everything was beautifully written and the story is unique. It even had the power to make me tear up at the end.

      Bravo, 5/5.

    11. This was an amazing read. I'm not afraid to admit that I broke into tears at quite a few spots in the story. But the Dawn Tattoo scene absolutely stole the show. I can't help but wonder how many guardsponies will be trying powdered sugar as well in the future!

This fic deserves each and every star that it gets. Thank you sir. Thank you SO much.

    17. Wow. Just Wow. That was some powerful imagery. It is the first time in a while that I have really felt a story that intensely. It was so vivid. Yes, tears were shed. Yes, that goes on my list of memorable reads, all genres, all time.

I just really want to know what Joe said to Artificer Call at the end. I feel like that is the missing epilogue. 5/5 nonetheless.

      Keep on writing.

The question is, what is YOUR image? A spy pony movie. Its obviously more random than mine

    20. This is an extraordinary story in many ways, and a must-read. No, there's no Twilight shipping either!

The Dawn Tattoo scene (you'll know when you reach it) is simply wonderful.

    21. This story joins a select list of fanfics which inspired a genuine emotional reaction from me. I laughed and cried in turn, and when the end came, I was sorry that this brief window into Joe's life was closed so soon. Thank you for writing this.

    23. Amazing. Probably one of the best fanfics I've read. 5/5!

    24. Why is there no 6-star rating? Damn, now I have to fine every other story I've rated and downgrade them a notch so that I can give this an appropriate rating.

      ...*sob*...

    25. It's a shame that this comic doesn't have more comments. It's quite touching. =(

    26. This story was actually surprisingly good. I never would have guessed that Pony Joe was an "old" war horse. Given that nopony has ever known anything about him before now. This story is certainly good enough to be considered a "headcanon" story for Pony Joe. Also, I kinda think that this story needs to be tagged as Sad as well, given the events that he relives through dreams.

      ReplyDelete
    27. I'll agree with a "Sad" tag, but not a "Grimdark" one.

I know its a much older story by now, but it still brings tears to my eyes.

I hope the up and coming Bronies get a chance to experience it.
