My Little Pony: Avatar is Magic

I never saw the television series, to be honest, but this comic is in a pretty unique style and I love the crap out of it because it's cute as hell. So you all get to look at it because I said so. If, um, that's all right with you, that is.

I love amazing crossovers <3

Saw this on ponibooru yesterday. I never watched it either but most of the jokes were easy enough to get with just a basic understanding of the show.

Very cute crossover comic!

Saw this last week,
Its about time it gets here XD

FUN FACT: The voice actor for Cave Johnson also plays the role of Aang and Katara's son in an upcoming Avatar reboot.

I LOLed! Well done in all aspects: artwork, humor and story...

Never watched the show, but I must admit that I really like the art style.

It's just so...unique. And adorable.

Anonymous said...

Just wait until Legend of Korra comes out, there will probably be a lot more Avatar/MLP crossovers.

James Corck said...

I've never watched the original show, but my pals who have (and checked this comic) say that it fits incredibly well.

If only the DVD's weren't so expensive...and avaliable in Spain >:C

Trunky said...

Them ponies look more ponier than usually.
Also I find the culture clash between the two shows amusing.

Dave said...

Ahh, Mako as Iroh. RIP.

Good show, but the ending made me rage unfathomable levels. And I don't plan on going anywhere near Shamalamadingdong's abomination.

The Lord of Ábrocen Landmearca said...

Hay. Mothersiring. Yes. This is truly excellent, and I demand, DEMAND more!

Also, Applebloom looks like a Muppet in that last panel.

Lots of people here missing out on an excellent series.

Anonymous said...

You've never seen The Last Airbender? Fairly good show for the first couple seasons, but then it gets too obnoxious and cartoony, which isn't supposed to be the style of the series.

Anonymous said...

This comic is perfect.

Anonymous said...

Yeah! Two of the best animated series, together. :D

crazyredemu said...

too obnoxious and cartoony? What show were you watching!!! IT FRICKEN ROCKS!!! It is on of the best shows ever!!! I rait it up there with Beast Wars and...My little pony in my list of shows I like! (im not use to listing MLP in my list of shows I like...I need to fix that)

BagOfChips said...

@Anonymous

Excellent may be a bit of an exaggeration.

It was watchable at least, I'll give it that.

RainbowSprinkles said...

You should really watch Avatar, Cereal. It's one of the best shows out there. I love it to pieces.

Vopogon said...

Avatar was amazing.

Anonymous said...

really well done

ZKPony said...

Yes. Just yes.
Sokka FTW!

Anonymous said...

I thought the third season balanced out the obnoxious and cartoony with the incredibly serious Day of Black Sun and four-part finale. But I must admit the episode before the Day of Black Sun was just a little too nutty.

Ray said...

two of the greatest televised programs of all time. thanks

If you haven't seen TLA, you have missed out on one of the greatest cartoons ever.

nemryn said...

Another crossover: (That you probably need to know a little more about ATLA to get)

While I'm not going to get involved in the flame war above, I AM going to say that Avatar: The Last Air Bender I EASILY the best cartoon to come out of Nickelodeon since the year 2000. And while I didn't particularly LOVE the ending they gave the show, The show as a whole is defiantly one of the better cartoons, animation, plot, and character development wise. I'd say that the quality of Avatar is on par, if not a little less, with My Little Pony.

Anonymous said...

A:TLA is fantastic. Fandom is a bit nutty, though. :l

Mm, best crossover ever. X3

Bitmun said...

Rainbow's "I guess?" Pretty much slew me. Love it.

Anonymous said...

Such great match-ups with the characters. Is it bad that I lol'd at Zuko and Rarity's conversation?

Anonymous said...

That Toph one was possibly the best thing that came out of these two fandoms.

crazyredemu said...

Ok, someone with KKats level of skill needs to fan fic this crossover

ActionScripter9109 said...

Yeah, so that show is frickin' amazing, and it's the only animated series besides Friendship is Magic that I'd heartily recommend to people.

Also, the comic is pretty cool.

Anonymous said...

I lol'd

Wierdplatformer said...

Two of the greatest animated shows have now come together. *Faints*

Anonymous said...

Book Three: Best Pony and Best Bender.

Anonymous said...

This looks incredible, so awesome and to all of you that haven't Seen "Avatar the last are bender" the original series, you don't know what your missing.

Anonymous said...

Oh man I was Laughing so hard. Best crossover ever.

Hiro said...

OMG OMG OMG! This comic is perfect! The characters are matched up perfectly!
Fluttershy and Ko? Awesome!
Sokka and Rainbow Dash? That's exactly something that he'd say.
The awkwardness of Zuko's response to Rarity is right on.

Anonymous said...

Goddamn. I was JUST watching the first season. What a coincidence.

Anonymous said...

My two favorite things ever...in one place...thank you.

I can't believe so many people haven't seen Avatar. It's one of the very few cartoons I would say is better than MLP. Although, the styles and approaches are so different that I'm not sure if they should be compared at all. MLP has better character development, but Avatar actually has a plot(an amazing one) for more than one episode.

I love them both to death either way. I've been a part of the Avatar community for years, staunchly hating those damned Zutara shippers.

Starty! said...

CEREAL, and hell, everypony! Go watch AVATAR! Is an amazing animated series as well.

Anonymous said...

If you haven't ever seen Avatar, it's actually worth a watch. It's one of the best cartoons Nickelodeon ever put on their channel.

Don't bother with the movie, though. It sucked balls.

WTBrony said...

Yeah, like everypony already said, you should go watch Avatar. I discovered FiM through an A:tLA forum. The WT in my name stands for Water Tribe lol.

Also, to all the Avatar fans here, you should totally go join http://forums.avatarspirit.net/index.php

It's a nice forum, and the Friendship is Magic thread there is pretty active.

kriss1989 said...

As a Brony and as an Avatrd I loved this whole thing.

Anonymous said...

Avatar was the best. I'm digging Zuko and Rarity's conversation here. Heh, Zuko, always knows the wrong thing to say.

And I don't know what people's deal is, the third season was the best. In each season of Avatar the first half is kinda filler-y and the second half is amazing, and the third season ended the show with a bang.

Anonymous said...

I loved Avatar :) this was a nice bit of nostalgia. I recommend you guys watch avatar, it was an awesome series and actually had a plot to it unlike some of the other animes of that time. Now, if you'll excuse me I have to go rewatch all the episodes now ^_^

ITT: Avatar gets ridiculously overrated

Awesome artwork, funny writing - sounds like a winning combination to me! I love this!

kd7sov said...

I'll be honest, I'm not particularly fond of 2, 3, or 4 here. But 1, 6, and - especially - 7 absolutely slay me.

(Also, I want to see what happens when Toph and Rainbow Dash meet.)

Gallant Vision said...

Awesome! A grade-A crossover this is!

Chris Meadows said...

@Bitmun: Of course, the funny thing is that a "hawk-horse" would actually be a sort of normal critter for the Avatarverse, given that all their animals are chimerical mash-ups.

You can stream the entirety of the three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix. That's what I did last summer after seeing The Last Airbender in theaters and being disappointed enough that I wanted to watch the original again to justify my disappointment. I marathoned the whole series over the course of two days, with some randomly interspersed periods where I slept and ate.
It's good stuff, and truly worthy of being called a fine example of American anime.

Edinpony said...

I know nothing about Avatar, but I absolutely love this art style.

Anonymous said...

Oh my god, Laughter put me on the floor. Imagine that. XD
I totally read Loyalty in their voices. I mean, not that I didn't the others, but that one in particular...

Hawk-horse! Works for me!
And anyone who says Avatar is not an excellent cartoon is lying.

Fallin' Winter said...

To get this out of the way right now. I haven't watched much Avatar, but what I did watch was one of the better shows I've seen. I'm not saying it's excellent, but I can't say it was anywhere near bad.

As for the comic, it was awesome! They matched so well. I couldn't stop laughing at Pinkie and Toph. Also, I find it kind of funny that the most happy go lucky of the group and most child-like of the group was having such an awkward time with the CMC.

Anonymous said...

Huge Avatar fan here....

I looooooooooove this strip ;p

If any of you have not watched this show...WATCH IT...one of the best stories I've seen in a long while.

Fire Flash said...

All of my lulz!

sdskuld said...

This is not something I say lightly, but I've watched all there is of both shows, and Avatar is better than Friendship is Magic. This is not a flame, it's a recommendation.

Becky said...

Another advocate of Avatar, alright, as well as alliteration, apparently.

I should go to sleep, but I decided to read this instead...confound these ponies, etc.

ANYWHOOVES that was adorable and made me actually laugh.

Zeptometer said...

:D perfect, my favorite characters from either show were in the first comic... (finally decided that Applejack is my favorite after retracing Swayback Mountain)

Amazing crossover, it perfectly contrasts, and yet they're both cartoons made for kids that developed an adult following.

Shellsh0cker said...

Oh, man, 2, 3, and 6 were solid gold. Probably the most obscure one for you non-Avatar watchers was #2, so here's the gist: the creature Fluttershy is staring down is known as "Koh the Face-Stealer," and as the name implies, he will steal your face if you deviate at all from a completely neutral expression while talking to him. SO, yeah, totally believable that Fluttershy could pull that off.

Anyway, anypony here who hasn't watched Avatar: The Last Airbender should really rectify that as soon as possible, because it's really awesome.

Anonymous said...

This is fantastic.

And I can totally see Dash and Sokka getting along pretty well.

Anonymous said...

Where was Katara??????

Kujiiro said...

Damn, I love the hell outta this.

Book 3: Demonstrating once again that Pinkie Pie has neither knowledge of nor regard for the concept of "personal space"...

Darth Equus said...

Perfect.

Love the more realistic ponies. Meshes well. Every theme is well portrayed.

This... is fantastic.

More, please. Would love to see Luna and Azula, for example.

Anonymous said...

Again. How has nopony but me noticed a certain lack of everypony's favorite female waterbending master from the south pole? And I'm the same anon that posted about afore-mentioned missing person earlier.

Anonymous said...

This was the show I obsessed over before FIM!
yeah Zuko she tried on more than one occaision!
except for "Fire Nation Players", I've probably seen every episode several times
still awaiting Aang fucking up the fire Lord to FLY AWAY NOW! (HuffytheMagicDragon)

nikohl said...

@Anonymous Apologies on the missing Katara. I was originally going to include her (interacting with either Fluttershy or Twilight) but, ah, I got other ideas, as you can see. Heh.

And to everypony else, thanks for the compliments! Glad to see I've been able to amuse others. (I'll also echo all the "watch Avatar if you haven't already" sentiments. We all watch MLP, so I figure we don't mind giving things a chance, right?)

Anonymous said...

@nikohl
That's ok! It might've been 20% cooler with katara but it's still a great comic! I love the look on Aang's face in the last panel! Priceless! And let the crossover fics begin!

Anonymous said...

Oh gawwwwd I loved Avatar The Last Airbender (the cartoon, not the movie)...can't wait until the sequel "Korra" airs on Nick.

In the meantime, I have ponies....

Zeptometer said...

@crazyredemu

That would be my favorite fan fic ever. No bullshit.

I was giggling before, but right there my entire house herd me

MLP_CloudCuckoolander said...

Poor Pinkie Pie. She probably didn't survive very long after her panel with Toph.

Anyway, this would be a totally awesome crossover. Just be careful not to cause an awesomeness overload and blow up the universe when writing fanfics involving it.
