Interesting. Though I wonder if the protagonist is supposed to come across as a jerk, or if that is only my personal feelings about rude people...
My, Griff is very... creative, verbally.
Wow! I loved this a LOT more than I thought I would. Even though the main character DID come off as a jerk, it was a good "get-shit-done-boss" kind of jerk and not "Gilda" or "Rainbow Dash" jerk.
I look forward to more work from you Lucres!
Just a sidenote: Your ending was actually how I was originally going to end my Spike/Rarity fic oddly enough.
Celestia sure like trolling her subjects.
Wow, these get posted fast. Next time I'll put the summary in the initial /co/ post:
"Griff the griffin is a Chef at the top of his game, running the best French restaurant in Canterlot. He only has two problems: one, a surprise visit from Celestia, party of sixty, and two, a certain blank-flank intern named Pinkie Pie."
Oh, and Griff is defiantly a jerk- you need to be in a kitchen full of big egos. Plus, I imagine griffins as being naturally more aggressive than ponies. I tried to balance him out, though, like with his crippling weakness against cuteness.
@Lucres
Well it definitely worked. By the end of the fic I was really taking a liking to him, and that's saying a lot considering I usually don't like OCs. This character however, (besides the foul language, which was actually pretty funny at times) was very believable.
If drawfriends weren't always so busy, I would request a drawing of Griff/Susan/Pinkie having a nice reunion at the restaraunt.
Even though the ending wasn't really sad... I still get sad when friends part ways. It just leaves me hollow.
@Cottonmouth
Thanks, I knew I had an uphill battle convincing people to like an OC, and it's really satisfying to hear that.
That was really, really good - much better than the pink/cooking piece I just churned out because I thought the idea was fun :)
MANLY TEARS HAVE BEEN SHED
awesome
Griff has the air of a Gordon Ramsey with an actual smidge of compassion. I didn't think that was possible.
Griff is a great character. He reminds me of some of the people I used to work with, a hard-charging boss who doesn't take any crap but will back you up 110% if you're putting a lot of effort and care into your job.
