    1. That was actually just a little forward I put in, but it's better than my original title...I suck at titles...

    2. There going to be subsequent chapters?

    3. Yeah, sure. I'm working on chapter two right now. I might even post it on my alt ff.net account if it looks good enough.

    6. I've never been much of a shipper before... but why do I find these FiM shipping fics so irresistible?!

      ReplyDelete
    7. Because AppleDash is the best pairing of all time.

      OF ALL TIME.

      ReplyDelete
    8. This is probably one of my favorite fics so far. Awesome job.

      You should totally do more.

    9. That's a pretty big compliment coming from such a dedicated PinkyDash shipper.

I really do think I'll make this a regular little slice-of-life with Dash and Applejack trying to make a run of such an odd relationship. After all, we still need to find out why Rainbow Dash was so secretive about the pegasus society!

      ReplyDelete
    10. I really liked how Dash is depicted to act so differently in the air, where she's obviously more at ease.

I hope there's more to this story; or maybe just other stories, lol.

    11. I actually screamed "HOLY ASS CRACKERS" when I read "It was her first kiss."

I've read other apple/dash shipfics before but that was just so DRAMATIC

    16. Eh, PinkieDash is more my thing. Regardless, great story. Loved the writing, characters were down to a tee.

    19. For people wondering where my stories went: I took them all down (this one was supposed to go down too) because the community is going to furries in a handbasket. Frankly, I don't want to be associated with it anymore.

'Twas fun while it lasted, though, and a pleasure to write for you guys.

    20. Very cute, and SO DRAMATIC during the volcano scene, but it was pretty entertaining. Cute cute cute, I can't think of another word to describe it. Nicely done.

      ReplyDelete
    21. The author retired. I still think the fic needs a sequel. It didn't feel good at the end (don't get me wrong, I liked it... But I felt it was like Back to the Future 3. Good movie but with and odd ending). It somehow feels it needs a sequel. Will someone do it? I mean I'm not saying you SHOULD, I'm just wondering...

      ReplyDelete
    22. This is a great story. I've never read much shipping before. Yet this one made me DAAWW like crazy. I love how Dash is depicted.

Gah! I wish the author would return. This community clearly hasn't gone to the furries.

    23. It actually has, especially if you look at it from what it was in the start (I was here practically day one).

Still, though, I enjoy writing. I'm throwing Forever is Forever back up on FIMFiction, and doing new stuff, so keep an eye out.

Glad to hear it. When I read this story it quickly became one of my all-time favourites. Your knack of comedy, genuine emotion, and your ability to switch between the two effortlessly really impressed me. I'll be sure to give 'Forever is Forever' a look as well as any future stories you might write.

    26. Applejack and Rainbow Dash had just finished a race, ending in a close win for Dash. Dash was entranced by the sweat coming off of Applejack's redneck brow. Applejack was upset that she didn't win so she demanded a rematch. "Fine", Dash answered, "But this time we'll do an activity of my choosing." So they went inside to Applejack's room and had a different kind of competition. After Applejack proved that she could jump on the bed higher than Rainbow Dash the two agreed that they could both stand to learn something from the other so they became partners. Over the training sessions their relationship grew to something more. They decided to become marefriends because nopony else could keep up with them anyway. Pinkie Pie and Twilight were very sad about this turn of events as they felt they had lost Rainbow (due to the amount of time she was spending with Applejack). This stress caused the group of friends to become fractured and they rarely see each other anymore. Rainbow married Applejack and lives with her on the farm now as Applejack refuses to leave her kin. Dash often thinks of her ambitions and how she had left them behind to be with Applejack, but always remembers that it was worth it to be with her love... wasn't it?

Haha, you can't downvote my awesome story because Blogger doesn't have that kind of functionality!

      ReplyDelete
    29. @Boomer30569 I cried. Such a bittersweet story.

But seriously, Applejack is the only one who can keep up with Rainbow? Let me quote CloudySkies writing from Rainbow's perspective about Pinkie:

"She was perhaps the only pony who could ever keep up with Equestria’s fastest flier."

AppleDash should come up with its own arguments..

      ReplyDelete

I like how you're insulting the logic in a paragraph long story that I came up with in five minutes over a ship I don't even like. And please, Twilight can teleport and walk on clouds, if anything Rainbow would have a tough time keeping up with her.

... I just got a Dash hug avatar to fit in...

    32. @Boomer30569 "I like how you're insulting the logic in a paragraph long story that I came up with in five minutes over a ship I don't even like."

I just can't help it. Whenever I see AppleDash, the first thing I want to do is counter it somehow..

"And please, Twilight can teleport and walk on clouds, if anything Rainbow would have a tough time keeping up with her."

Oh, you're on sir. Naval battle in the blogger comments!

Teleport? Please. Pinkie can bend the laws of space and time. That alone makes her the pony most capable of keeping up with Dash and indeed surpassing her.

But it's not just a matter of physical or magical capabilities, it's also a matter of mindset. Rainbow Dash's main concern in freedom. She can't be tied to a single place, caught up in a routine and confinenement is intolerable. As you quite fittingly illustrated in your story, she

might see and experience a romantic relationship as a kind of restraint which prevents her from fulfilling her dreams. And this is where Pinkie shines, for the Earth Pony is just as quick, hyperactive and unstoppable as she is; unfettered to anything and without any restraints or limits which might cause her to act as a burden to Dash, leaving her free to fulfill her dreams. Twilight, on the other hand, will always be tied to her studies and her obligations towards the Princess. Like Applejack, her life involves a great amount of obligations and stability, which would act as a burden to Dash.

Now we just need to get DFS in here to say something about FlutterDash..

"... I just got a Dash hug avatar to fit in..."

      I'm such a trend-setter.

    33. ok first I don't know which I hate more AppleDash or this commenting system, second in terms of species compatability I have the upper wing since Fluttershy is a pagasus too and on multiple occasions has managed to keep pace with Dash so she could go wherever Dash wants to, I think round one goes to me

      ReplyDelete
    34. @FreezingShock

That is an understandable position to take on AppleDash, just know that the whole thing was intended as a parody of AppleDash.

Yes, but Pinkie can't control her strange powers, she admits as much when talking about her Pinkie Sense. Her powers don't come from any conscious source, they just kinda... happen when she's around. Twilight, on the other hand, is completely in control of her prodigious abilities, she has even been shown to have gained a significant amount of power and control over them since the beginning of the show. In the "Crackle" episode (for it shall always be known as such) she was even shown to be able to teleport all four of them all the way back to town, a feat that Rainbow couldn't even have accomplished. Without Twilight Rainbow never would have gotten the support of all of her friends for the Sonic Rainboom and possibly would still be unable to perform it.

Pinkie Pie lives with the Cakes, has a steady job with them that she loves, and plays an active role taking care of two foals. She is also friends with everypony in the town, so I'd say she does have some things that tie her down. Twilight has already left behind everything she knew to be with Rainbow Dash when she chose to stay in Ponyville just one day after she met her, and the Princess let her, showing that she wouldn't be an obstacle. Twilight can take her studies with her. Plus, Canterlot is presumably the home of the Wonderbolts, and dating the Princess's star pupil (who is known by most of the ponies in the Castle as well as now having a princess as a sister-in-law) could only help her chances of being noticed and accepted by the Wonderbolts and achieving her dreams.

Twilight is also capable of letting there be space between them while Dashie does her thing, while Pinkie ties her down simply by wanting to be around her all the time.

Hipster FreezingShock hugged Dashie before it was cool.

      ReplyDelete
    35. @Justin

Based on their relative wing power, I'd have to say that Fluttershy couldn't keep up with Dash. The numbers speak for themselves. If "Sonic Rainboom" hadn't made all of the other ponies able to go to Cloudsdale with Twilight's help I would agree with you though, and I would probably be a FlutterDasher now.

      ReplyDelete
    36. @Boomer30569

Effing magic, although Rainbow herself admitted in 'Hurrican Fluttershy' that in special circumstances Fluttershy can fly just as fast as Rainbow Dash (which has happened multiple times)

      ReplyDelete
    37. @Boomer30569
In all seriousness I can honestly see Fluttershy following Rainbow Dash, she loves animals and there will be animals everywhere who'll need her help so she can live anywhere with Rainbow (especially if it's in the clouds). Also once Rainbow Dash settles down (which let's face it, it will happen eventually) Fluttershy is the best option for her.

      ReplyDelete
    38. @Justin

Do you really think Fluttershy would leave all of her animal friends behind? Fluttershy specifically states that she doesn't ever want to leave the ground, so she wouldn't want to live in the clouds. Plus a shy pony like her wouldn't want to move anywhere with lots of ponies, which is why she lives in relative seclusion now. I don't actually ever see Rainbow settling down until she gets too old to fly, it's too much a part of who she is.

      ReplyDelete
    39. @Boomer30569
It's possible she could take the animals with her, however I see Rainbow Dash eventually settling down, it's gonna happen someday

If Dash settles down with her then Dash would have all the racing buddies she could ever ask for (Fluttershy keeps several flying animals that can serve as an adequate challenge for her) and TBH as much as Rainbow loves being the center of attention she spends a lot of time napping, so living outside of town where it's much more quiet and peaceful would be ideal for her relaxed personality

      ReplyDelete
    40. @Boomer30569

Once again, I have written something too long to be posted in one go. I need to get a hobby. Other than arguing about shipping, that is.

"Yes, but Pinkie can't control her strange powers, she admits as much when talking about her Pinkie Sense. Her powers don't come from any conscious source, they just kinda... happen when she's around."

Not really a disadvantage, since they still pretty much happen whenever it's convenient for her. Every single time she's tried to keep up with Dash, for instance, she's succeeded. Her abilities are not an ability she can actively choose to activate, true, but empirical evidence seems to indicate that they will aid her whenever it is necessary.

“Twilight, on the other hand, is completely in control of her prodigious abilities, she has even been shown to have gained a significant amount of power and control over them since the beginning of the show. In the "Crackle" episode (for it shall always be known as such) she was even shown to be able to teleport all four of them all the way back to town, a feat that Rainbow couldn't even have accomplished. Without Twilight Rainbow never would have gotten the support of all of her friends for the Sonic Rainboom and possibly would still be unable to perform it.”

Oh, there's no denying that Twilight has the abilities necessary to keep herself in Rainbow's vicinity if desired. But does she have the right mindset for it, enough energy, spontaneity and lack of inhibitions to truly share in Dash's activities and ambitions? I don't think so; she's too organized, too by-the-book and too unwilling to act on random impulses to be anything but an annoyance to Dash in a relationship. Dash doesn't want someone who says “Are you sure that's a good idea?” or “You might want to reconsider” when she comes up with something (Though she might need one, objectively speaking), she wants someone who's as willing to ride the wave as she is. Though I'm sure you'll disagree with my analysis of both Twilight and Dash.

“Pinkie Pie lives with the Cakes, has a steady job with them that she loves, and plays an active role taking care of two foals. She is also friends with everypony in the town, so I'd say she does have some things that tie her down.“

I'm obviously biased - we all are, after all - but I really don't think any of those things weigh up to the fetters which tie down the others. Pinkie Pie lives with the Cakes, yes, but they're obvious parental figures to her and sooner or later there comes a time every child must learn to be independent. She'll not stay there forever, and once she leaves she's no more tied to them and Rainbow is to her own parents, whoever they may be. Nor do I believe that being somepony's foalsitter forms a lifelong connection. And to be honest, I really don't think Pinkie has a job with them. She's always struck me more as a baker's apprentice than one of their employees.

As for being friends with everypony in town, I really don't feel that'd tie her down in any way either; if anything, she'd relish the chance to get out there and make even more friends. Not like her current ones are going anywhere, after all, and seeing how superficial her contact is with them compared to the Mane 6, it'd take relatively little to maintain those friendships on their current level.

      ReplyDelete
    41. @Boomer30569

"Twilight has already left behind everything she knew to be with Rainbow Dash when she chose to stay in Ponyville just one day after she met her, and the Princess let her, showing that she wouldn't be an obstacle."

It wasn't just Rainbow Dash; it was all five of them. Also, not really. The Princess is still obviously her greatest concern in the world. She has in no way left her behind or even abandoned her responsibilities; she's just moved to a different village and was assigned a different mission. Besides, do you really see her saying "No, I'm going to stay here, buck Canterlot!" if the Princess had told her that making friends was all very nice and well but they were going to go back home anyway? I certainly don't.

“Twilight can take her studies with her. Plus, Canterlot is presumably the home of the Wonderbolts, and dating the Princess's star pupil (who is known by most of the ponies in the Castle as well as now having a princess as a sister-in-law) could only help her chances of being noticed and accepted by the Wonderbolts and achieving her dreams.”

Twilight taking her studies with her and engaging in academic research hardly seems all that appealing to either of them, really. It'd be hell to seriously work or study while on tour. And while it's possible Twilight's connections could help her get into the Wonderbolts, Rainbow would have to be pretty ruthless to date someone based on career expectations.

“Twilight is also capable of letting there be space between them while Dashie does her thing, while Pinkie ties her down simply by wanting to be around her all the time.”

I'd say that there could indeed be a lot of space between Twilight and Dash, but only because Dash would be moving ahead to quickly for Twilight to keep up. And to be honest, the last thing I ever see Pinkie doing is tie Dash down; she's even more energetic and crazy than she is, in addition to being a massive Dash fan girl. I don't really see her offering anything but extremely overenthusiastic support to anything Dashie does. Which I will admit may be a breaking point in and of itself, as Pinkie could perhaps be too much for even Dash to handle.

“Based on their relative wing power, I'd have to say that Fluttershy couldn't keep up with Dash. The numbers speak for themselves. If "Sonic Rainboom" hadn't made all of the other ponies able to go to Cloudsdale with Twilight's help I would agree with you though, and I would probably be a FlutterDasher now.”

Don't even say such things! The thought of being outnumbered two to one is too terrible to even consider..

“Do you really think Fluttershy would leave all of her animal friends behind? Fluttershy
specifically states that she doesn't ever want to leave the ground, so she wouldn't want to live in the clouds. I agree. I don't know exactly how Rainbow's life will turn out in the future, but it's sure to be very hectic and fast-paced. Extremely stable, steady ponies like Applejack and Fluttershy (Though this goes for the former more than the latter) don't really seem all that suitable to accompany her.

PS: I'm actually very content that I've thus far managed to argue for PinkieDash without resorting to my previous, Pinkie-as-a-stalker arguments. Hopefully ensuring that Wackypony and others like him will be less annoyed and preventing me from damaging PinkieDash's reputation.

      ReplyDelete
    42. @Justin

"ok first I don't know which I hate more AppleDash or this commenting system,"

After using it again, I'm actually fairly sure I hate Blogger a lot more than AppleDash.

"second in terms of species compatability I have the upper wing since Fluttershy is a pagasus too and on multiple occasions has managed to keep pace with Dash so she could go wherever Dash wants to, I think round one goes to me"

Don't be so hasty to declare your victory, my friend. As Boomer stated, Fluttershy is usually so attached to the ground that she may as well be an Earth Pony; the idea that she'd join Dashie in her cloud house is no more likely than the idea that Twilight or Pinkie would do so. And as for your second point..

"Effing magic, although Rainbow herself admitted in 'Hurrican Fluttershy' that in special circumstances Fluttershy can fly just as fast as Rainbow Dash (which has happened multiple times)"

Yeah, well those "special circumstances" in which she could keep up with Dash were actually mortal danger. We can hardly expect Dash to place her friends or herself in great jeopardy every time she needs Fluttershy to be less of a slowpoke.

"It's possible she could take the animals with her, however I see Rainbow Dash eventually
settling down, it's gonna happen someday If Dash settles down with her then Dash would have all the racing buddies she could ever ask for (Fluttershy keeps several flying animals that can serve as an adequate challenge for her) and TBH as much as Rainbow loves being the center of attention she spends a lot of time napping, so living outside of town where it's much more quiet and peaceful would be ideal for her relaxed personality"

The only time I see Dash being satisfied with living quietly and racing nothing but simple animals is after retiring from a long and successful career because she's too old to continue on. She's just too ambitious and talented to limit herself to such a lifestyle if there's even the slightest chance of doing something grander.

      ReplyDelete
    43. "I agree. I don't know exactly how Rainbow's life will turn out in the future, but it's sure to be very hectic and fast-paced. Extremely stable, steady ponies like Applejack and Fluttershy (Though this goes for the former more than the latter) don't really seem all that suitable to accompany her"

-Fluttershy lives on the edge of the Everfree Forest, that could provide plenty of opportunity for excitement and adventure, and that Falcon and Eagle were fairly fast for 'simple animals', plus she could make them better fliers

"She's just too ambitious and talented to limit herself to such a lifestyle if there's even the slightest chance of doing something grander"

-she may want to be on The Wonderbolts, which is a great lifelong dream and all, but I wouldn't think call her ambitious since she spends most of her time napping, she has yet to make it in to The Wonderbolts (despite her immense talent) this suggests she might not be as dedicated as we think

"As Boomer stated, Fluttershy is usually so attached to the ground that she may as well be an Earth Pony; the idea that she'd join Dashie in her cloud house is no more likely than the idea that Twilight or Pinkie would do so"

-I'm assuming that since Dash's home is made of Clouds it can be moved, so move her house to Fluttershy's cottage, and they can be like any couple that hasn't reached the stage of cohabitation yet (it'll kinda be like a couple that visits their partner's apartment)

-Finally, inn regards to Fluttershy's ability to keep pace with Dash she can actually fly, Twilight and Pinkie cannot and could theoretically only fly under much more constrained circumstances (the wings made by Twilight's magic are made morning dew and gossamer and are delicate), Fluttershy has been shown that she can improve through training, and who better to teach her than Dash, I can already imagine after a tiring training session Dash 'relieves' Fluttershy's tension and once Fluttershy begins to show improvement she can show her gratitude to her trainer

      ReplyDelete
    44. @Justin

Except Fluttershy could only take her flying animals to the clouds, the others would have to stay behind. Dash's need to show off trumps her desire to have uninterrupted naps, as shown when Twilight got her to clear the skies in episode 1 by challenging her to show off and again in "Find a Pet" when she gave up her nap time so she wouldn't miss out on her friends' pet meetings.

      ReplyDelete
    45. @Boomer30569
My solution to the whole 'Fluttershy bringing her animals with her' is that Dash simply moves her house to right above Fluttershy's

further she can still pursue her dreams, her house with Fluttershy can be her escape from the hustle of her stressed-filled life, athletes and celebrities always have retreats for themselves, and EVEN Rainbow Dash needs some stability and structure and Fluttershy can be that rock in her life much better than Pinkie and Twilight, also whenever Rainbow Dash has to attend Canterlot events (which she will as a Wonderbolt) who better to take as a date than the beautiful and graceful Fluttershy

      ReplyDelete
    46. @FreezingShock

A 1600 word defense requires a 1601 word offense. Let's see how this goes.

"I don't think so; she's too organized, too by-the-book and too unwilling to act on random impulses to be anything but an annoyance to Dash in a relationship. Dash doesn't want someone who says “Are you sure that's a good idea?” or “You might want to reconsider” when she comes up with something (Though she might need one, objectively speaking), she wants someone who's as willing to ride the wave as she is."

While Twilight isn't as prone to randomness as Pinkie, her staying in Ponyville definitely showed the ability to act on sudden impulses. I think she would ground Dash a little while Dash would encourage her to get out and live a little. In PinkieDash Rainbow is playing the part of the more grounded one and I don't think that suits her very well.

"I'm obviously biased - we all are, after all"

I don't know what you're talking about, I'm always completely impartial.

"they're obvious parental figures to her and sooner or later there comes a time every child must learn to be independent. She'll not stay there forever, and once she leaves she's no more tied to them and Rainbow is to her own parents, whoever they may be. Nor do I believe that being somepony's foalsitter forms a lifelong connection"

Just because kids leave their parents doesn't mean that it wouldn't make her hesitate. Plus she's admitted that she loves the twins and they have taught her a lot about responsibility. Ask Cadence and Twilight if a foalsitter can be a lifelong connection.

"As for being friends with everypony in town, I really don't feel that'd tie her down in any way either; if anything, she'd relish the chance to get out there and make even more friends. Not like her current ones are going anywhere, after all, and seeing how superficial her contact is with them compared to the Mane 6, it'd take relatively little to maintain those friendships on their current level."

She literally knows the birthdays and important events for every single one of them. She invests a lot of time into them and admits that making them smile is practically her primary reason to exist.

"It wasn't just Rainbow Dash; it was all five of them. I certainly don't."

Was it all five of them? Silly me, I must have forgotten. What I mean is that her family (including her one true friend, her BBBFF) was left behind to stay with them, this also means that she wouldn't see Celestia on a regular basis which is something she obviously enjoyed very much. Do you really see any of the ponies saying "No" to Celestia? I don't.

"Rainbow would have to be pretty ruthless to date someone based on career expectations."

I don't think she would do it for that reason, just kinda a happy side-effect.

"Which I will admit may be a breaking point in and of itself, as Pinkie could perhaps be too much for even Dash to handle."

Exactly, Pinkie is much too clingy. Dash needs her space and Pinkie doesn't understand that. I don't see Dash moving faster than Twilight at all. Twilight has shown more growth over the show than any of the others. With her mind she could easily adapt to any changes Dash's ambition could bring.

      ReplyDelete
    47. @Justin

You really think Fluttershy could keep Dash grounded? More than Pinkie yeah, obviously, but that's just because Pinkie's pulling in the opposite direction. Fluttershy just doesn't normally display the kind of willpower to keep Dash in check. It would end up with Dash just pulling Fluttershy around and her just going along with it to not hurt Dash's feelings. Even in the show Dash isn't affected by Fluttershy so much as she is by her own conscious trying not to hurt Fluttershy.

Dash has proven that even the falcon (which should have been her pet) couldn't keep up with her even when she was flying pretty casually.

      ReplyDelete

I actually do see Fluttershy has serving as a reliable base that she (and everyone) needs, their personalities complement each other well and I can just see a tired Dash, worn out after a performance as a Wonderbolt to her home with the Mare who is always there to support her, the Mare that Dash would defend and always protect, a Mare she taught to believe in herself and grow stronger, while at the same Dash herself was taught patience, and the importance of being softer and not always harsh by that very same Mare

      and that Mare is Fluttershy

The eloquence of this speech has convinced me of the error of my ways. I now realize that the beauty of FlutterDash is the OTP. Before I was convinced that they were merely foalhood friends with deep platonic bonds, but now I realize that that is not the case and that it is romance instead. Sorry Freezing, you're outnumbered now.

Seeing how you are no longer a TwiDasher, I am unsure how to respond to your comment. As far as I know, you could at this point be a FlutterDasher, a TwiDasher or a FlutterPieist, so I'll just wait until it's clear where you stand again.

"Fluttershy lives on the edge of the Everfree Forest, that could provide plenty of opportunity for excitement and adventure, and that Falcon and Eagle were fairly fast for 'simple animals', plus she could make them better fliers”

I'm sure she could find something to do; she does so even now, after all. It wouldn't come naturally, however; the basis of such a life would still be rather uneventful and boring, with excitement only coming into it when she actively seeks it out. Not to mention the fact that in this scenario only a few select ponies will be around to see her awesomeness and appreciate her actions. I really just don't see her being satisfied with such a life.

“-she may want to be on The Wonderbolts, which is a great lifelong dream and all, but I wouldn't think call her ambitious since she spends most of her time napping, she has yet to make it in to The Wonderbolts (despite her immense talent) this suggests she might not be as dedicated as we think”

As Boomer stated, she's consistently put her true dreams and ambitions before napping. She just ignores her incredibly easy job on the weather team from time to time, as she has shown that she needs far less time than she's given to perform her duties.

“-I'm assuming that since Dash's home is made of Clouds it can be moved, so move her house to Fluttershy's cottage, and they can be like any couple that hasn't reached the stage of cohabitation yet (it'll kinda be like a couple that visits their partner's apartment)”

Well, that goes for everypony, doesn't it? She could also move her house to Sweet Apple Acres or the Carousel Boutique if she wanted to. Not really FlutterDash-specific.

“-Finally, inn regards to Fluttershy's ability to keep pace with Dash she can actually fly, Twilight and Pinkie cannot and could theoretically only fly under much more constrained circumstances (the wings made by Twilight's magic are made morning dew and gossamer and are delicate), Fluttershy has been shown that she can improve through training, and who better to teach her than Dash, I can already imagine after a tiring training session Dash 'relieves' Fluttershy's tension and once Fluttershy begins to show improvement she can show her gratitude to her trainer”

I really don't see Fluttershy engaging in any kind of real training regiment to improve her flying skills; she's not especially fond of it, after all, so unless a lot is riding on it like in Hurricane Fluttershy, I don't think she'd want to do it. Dash might try to push her into it to make her less of a burden, but that's closer to her Dragonshy characterization and not conductive to the ship. Pinkie can't fly, true, but she's never had any trouble following Dash around regardless of this fact. In fact, Dash has had more trouble keeping up with Pinkie than vice versa.

Wow... You have shown me the flaws inherent in the FlutterDash ship. I can no longer support such a pairing any longer. Pinkie's energetic nature would be sure to make her the perfect partner for the athletic Rainbow Dash!

Shipping PinkieDash in Blogger and SoarinDash in IntenseDebate? Impossibru!

And it's actually pretty amazing that my previous post showed you the flaws of FlutterDash, seeing how I don't think I've really said anything all that negative about the ship itself in it ;) I just ripped on DFS' logic for a bit and that was it.

Which is also why I dislike the style of arguing I'm guilty of introducing to this page; it quickly devolves into picking apart eachother's arguments for logical inconsistencies rather than a true comparison of the various virtues of our ships. That, and the fact that it takes a hell of a lot of time to dissect a post like that.

Also, I like your PinkieDash avatar. I often see AppleDashers use a picture based on the same base image on DeviantArt, so it's good to see it used by the other side for a change.

Think of it as a metaphor, which is better Blogger or IntenseDebate?

*bzzztt* Sorry about that. I was helping Twilight test out a new spell and it ended up causing me to just agree with the last ship I'd heard an argument for, my ability to choose and resist outside influences was completely negated. I'm better now. Turns out the cure was listening to "First Night Alone" a few times, which is really a kind of odd cure but whatever.

Don't tell Twilight but I also kinda wanted to use that FlutterDash image (because it's just freakin' adorable) and "The Party Hasn't Ended" song was so good that I had to briefly venture into PinkieDash territory. But I swore an oath to defend TwiDash until my last breath so defend it I shall.

"Which is also why I dislike the style of arguing I'm guilty of introducing to this page; it quickly devolves into picking apart eachother's arguments for logical inconsistencies rather than a true comparison of the various virtues of our ships. You got that right. It's a very OCD method of debate, unfortunately I'm a very OCD kind of debater so once it starts I find it hard to stop. I think the various virtues basically culminates in the fact that they all lead to some pretty sweet stories.

      ReplyDelete
    58. "The Party Hasn't Ended" truly was a good song, wasn't it? I've been listening to it quite a lot for the past few days and it still hasn't gotten old. Very nice to actually have an original PinkieDash song. And it was nice to have you support the truth of PinkieDash for a change, even if it was just for one post =P

And I'm an incredibly OCD person, in more ways than I'd like to admit. I am at this very moment bothered by the fact that I did not respond to your comment in the exact same manner, for instance, even though I know it's best to end this argument before it devolves into pointless nitpicking which is no longer really related to the advancement of our ships.

I'll try not to introduce this style of debating to our future arguments, hopefully preventing them from becoming thousands of words long attempts at finding logical fallicies in the others' arguments and causing them to remain focused on comparing the virtues of our respective ships.

      ReplyDelete
    59. @FreezingShock

It's got this very familiar style to it, but I just can't place my finger on where I know it from. I really like the song, even if it is a bit sadder than what I normally go for. I think you and DFS need to convert to TwiDash sometime, you know just to see what it's like.

I am finding it so hard to not do that right now, even though I hate doing it because of how long it takes.

That was the intended goal of my FlutterDash conversion post, to point out ironically that no matter how much we nitpick it really isn't going to change any of our minds about which ship is best.

I've already dabbled in TwiDash in the past, actually. "Building Bridges" by CloudySkies was one of the very first fanfics I ever read. So you can blame him for not converting me to TwiDash, especially seeing how his other story, "Rainbow Dash's Best Plan Ever", was instrumental in converting me to PinkieDash =P

And yeah, I really doubt there's anything any of us can say which is going to convince the others. I just think it's fun to speak about our ships and compare them. And of course the skills we gain as naval commanders during these little skirmishes will serve us well against AppleDash ;)

Sure, why not. And let's involve him in the conversation; it'd be rude to ignore him just because he's not present at the moment. We do need a new and relevant subject, though..

Hey DFS, I just had a conversation with Nambuk in which I stated that I believed that Pinkie might actually be rather plump, because of the ridiculous amount of ridiculously unhealthy food she consumes. What's your opinion on that?

EDIT: I seriously did not screw that up on purpose. My apologies.

      ReplyDelete
    65. @FreezingShock

Well I think that Pinkie Pie is a total fatty and that such a chubby pony could never hope to keep up with the beautiful Rainbow Dash. Fluttershy is much thinner and would therefore be better at keeping up with Dash as well as being more physically appealing to her. FlutterDash rocks! Woohoo.

      ReplyDelete
    66. further Twilight probably has the figure of a scrawny nerd so the beautiful and graceful Fluttershy is the only real match for Dash. she could train with Dash and that would make her even fitter and I can already imagine the make out sessions..

      ReplyDelete

      ReplyDelete
    68. Well now DFS, just because you don't like our ships doesn't give you the right to call Twilight scrawny. Plus, when has Dashie ever trained with another pony? Fluttershy couldn't even pass her cheering training, so how could she hope to keep up with a pony who can shatter the light barrier?

      ReplyDelete
    69. @Boomer30569

Fluttershy is the only other pegasus so she could fly with Rainbow Dash. She also has pets that have very nice figures that Dash could be into. Fluttershy and all of her animals would be perfect for Dash. Mmmmm... FlutterDash...

      ReplyDelete
    70. @Justin

I simply state that Pinkie may be a bit on the heavy side, and here you are calling her fat! You give them an inch and they take a mile.. Besides, how physically fit is Fluttershy likely to be?

She's just some kind of vet; hardly a job that causes you to have an excellent physique.

      ReplyDelete
    71. @Justin

You seem to be ignoring the fact that Pinkie has managed to catch up to Dash many times despite not being able to fly. This is obviously no hinderness to Ponyville's Premier Party Pony. And if she really did need to fly for some reason, there's always that weird flying contraption she build.

      Also, do not want.

      ReplyDelete
    72. @FreezingShock Fluttershy keeps several flying animals that can serve as an adequate challenge even for Dash so she'd have to be fit to be able to keep up with them. Combined with her flying abilities this means that Fluttershy is obviously the only one who can really hang out with Dash.

      ReplyDelete
    73. @FreezingShock

As I said Fluttershy has been shown that she can improve through training and Dash would obviously be willing to teach her. Gilda instantly destroyed that thing meaning it's not very reliable so Pinkie still can't really keep up with Dash unlike the graceful Fluttershy.

      ReplyDelete
    74. @Justin

Ummm, DFS... I think you may have overestimated the levels of interaction that ponies have with their animal friends...

      ReplyDelete
    75. @Boomer30569

No, Fluttershy shows us that ponies can be very close to animals. If she can be then Rainbow Dash can too. They will all live happily ever after on their farm because that's how childhood friendships are supposed to turn out.

      ReplyDelete
    76. @Justin

DFS, we've already spoken about this. There's no way a pony like Rainbow is going to be content with living on a farm. I really don't think that the prospect of being able to make out with falcons and giant monarch butterflies is going to change her mind.

Also, I thought you were supposed to be gone for the rest of the week. Why are you back so early?

      ReplyDelete
    77. @FreezingShock

Obviously you've never gone out with a giant insect before.

I had gone to watch Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash watch the butterfly migration, but Dash got tired of it and went to see the dragon migration instead. So I played with the butterflies for a bit and then came back to get my FlutterDash fix online.

I now expect you guys to do the same thing if I ever leave for an extended period of time ;)

      ReplyDelete

Good. If anyone is coming this far back to read an AppleDash fic then they deserve to be at least a little bit confuzzled.

      ReplyDelete
    85. What the...I come here and there's a debate about how everyone hates AppleDash? Seriously, if it's not your cup of tea, then I suggest not commenting about how it could be better with another pairing! And I'm speaking generally; this applies to every other shipfic out there.

      ReplyDelete
    86. @Conan Wolf

To be fair, you should note that I never said I hated it or its supporters; only Boomer and DFS did. I merely stated I vigorously opposed it, as it conflicted with my own ship and I felt I always needed to prove RainbowPie's superiority through debate back then, four months ago. I'm a bit more easygoing now; you live and learn.

And AppleDash itself I'm actually fairly ambivalent about. Ship it if you like, it's not a pairing which really evokes any kind of emotion in me.

Nevertheless, my comments here are a tad more dismissive than I try to be nowadays, so my apologies if you were offended by my opposition to the ship as represented by Boomer's strawman fanfic.
