I really want that book that's read to Twilight. Seriously, it would make a great bed time story to read to your family.

DashieBro said...

Have to read later!!!!

Beta-Carotene said...

Wait, did that picture inspire this? Seems to fit all too perfectly.

That was my wallpaper for a while lol

Niko said...

Ha, sounds pretty good. I'll have to read it later

Beta-Carotene said...

I may have to start reading fan-fics every now and then. Might help cheer me back up from my mysterious emotional slum as of late.

Pontius Possum said...

Ooo looks promising.

Oh wait, it's by Corejo. It will be awesome! Imma read this now!

Time to fix that!

I need some new material until my next Ranger's Apperintice book becomes available

so, is this complete or incomplete?

Flutterfan said...

Only Twilight could get injured from reading books.

Blackbelt said...

Heartwarming story is heartwarming.

Corejo said...

It is Complete. And I see they changed the friendshipping tag to normal. What fun!

@Beta-Carotene
Yes. The picture inspired this fic.

Drakmire said...

I wondered when this would finally show up here. Figure it'll take maybe...two hours to reach six star status?

@Niko

Reading Rainbow... I just knew somepony was going to use that eventually!

Levar Burton is smiling somewhere... probably on Twitter.

Spikely Whiplash said...

What story is the book Rainbow Dash reads based on?

Harwick said...

This was a very cute story indeed, and I'd definitely recommend it. I miss reading Shel Silverstein books myself.

And really, Twilight being blinded is a horrible fate for her. I'm glad it was only a temporary thing.

A story within a story? Storyception! In all seriousness, this is a very nice fan fic. Great work.

Bob from Bottles said...

Very well done. I really enjoyed reading this.

BrawnyPwny said...

Aww yeah! Another awesome story from an awesome author.
The only problem is that I'm not sure if I want to slap Corejo for getting sidetracked from Transcendence or hug him for making this amazing fic.

RainbowDash818 said...

The book reminded me of a Dr.Seuss story. That was very well written, 5 stars.

Corejo said...

The story within the story was completely original, though Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein, and Julia Donaldson naturally lent inspiration.

TwiDash Friendshipping is best Friendshipping. really brings out the best in both.

Great story just finished reading it and I got to say Dashie is the best narrator I wish she would read bedtime stories to me.... Actually this was kind of like a bedtime story:) goodnight everypony!

Raefire said...

Yes! I can finally be the hipster and say I read & favourited it before it got featured! Whoo!

@Travis Smith the Shadowbolt

Hey, you read the Ranger's Apprentice series too? Which one are you waiting for? The Lost Stories is my favorite book of the series. Right now, I'm waiting for the second book in the Brotherband series to be released (it's a sequel series focusing on Skandia, as opposed to Araluen).

CityFlyer502 said...

Really enjoyed this story. Not really that surprising how Twilight wound up in the hospital. That was just so awesome of Rainbow to stay with Twilight and read to her. Really gotta love her reading style. Anyway, great story. All my stars!

Cupcakes Nom said...

I definitely feel like this story is less of a "story" and more of an excuse to share a ponified Shel Silverstein-style poem. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. All the little stops and starts in the middle were some nice slice-of-life, realistic-feeling moments, and I had a little daww at the end.

I do feel like the characterization was a little bit off, though; I don't think Twilight would have Smarty Pants with her at the hospital despite what the artist may have thought, and a few of the lines of dialogue struck me as a bit off. Despite this it was still a fun read!

Great story! Really enjoyed it. Very heart warming ^^

Waiting for book 7 to become available at library

Will read later! I think Twilight strained her eye muscles on that last book!

@Spikely Whiplash

its all based on Indiana Jones

The Pwnzor Muffin said...

@Corejo

You made that up? That's... impressive.

Adub said...

That bed time story reminded me so much of Dr Seuss type of story. Loved it.

there's a lot of things only i would say.

ponydoraprancypants said...

It's wonderful, and warmed the cockles of my little heart.

DPV111 said...

This is not the best friendshipping fic I've ever read but it's among the best.

Everything is very show-canon and the characterizations are spot on.

It's funny and sweet and I was D'Awwwing from Dash's gutcheck reactions to Twi being in hospital all the way to the end.

I'd give this 4.5 stars but I can't so 5 Star.

Blayze Kohime said...

Freak... reading... accident....
That concept alone deserves all my love.

Pen Stroke said...

I really enjoyed this. The only comment I would make was the pacing of the paragraphs describing Rainbow Dash's flight to the arrival was a bit to quick and I'd say... choppy, if that makes sense. Still, that's really my only nitpick. I also really liked the Dr. Seuss like story within the story.

SteelChaser said...

I loved it.

Corejo's "Transcendence" was the first Pony Fanfiction I ever started reading.

His writing has a special place in my heart.

I love this little story, the story itself already makes ou smile a little, and then the story within the story addds up to it. Since it is a one-shot, everyone should read it!

Kim Kimera Kimes said...

Congratz on the 6-stars, Corejo!

Miles24 said...

I couldn't sleep, so I read this when I found it last night. One of the best freaking stories I've read in a long time. Despite only being a one-shot, it was perfect length, and the writer captured Twilight and Dash's personalities quite well. It's a good, happy story.

Niko said...

Found the time to read this a little while ago. It was a pretty good story, nicely done.

garturo62 said...

Great read, highly recommended.

Corejo wrote another fic? BOOKMARK BOOKMARK BOOKMARK BOOKMARK. If this is anywhere near as good as Transcndence, I will die.

Though, hopefully Dash will be a bit nicer in this one.

This was really enjoyable to read. It has been a while since I read a story so pitch-perfect with the show's tone and themes. This would make a fantastic sequel story to Read it and Week on the show itself.

5/5.

Luminous said...

Awesome, I loved the rhyme.

Sgt Byrd said...

Wow this fic is really good, when I can switch my user agent back to normal I'll give this 5 stars.

You would probably be capable of writing something including Zecora, you have a good ability to rhyme.

I really enjoyed this fic, although the inclusion of the sub story as a separate chapter seemed unnecessary and made the fic look much longer at first glance. Figuring out what was printed from RD's dialogue wasn't difficult.

Cyl said...

You think Twilight getting hurt is funny? You make me sick!

Tom said...

ARGH

WHY IS THE SECOND STORY INCOMPLETE

Present Perfect said...

2/5

I listened to AdventureFlame's reading of this, and I found it absolutely dreary and a chore to get through, despite not being the one reading it.

This story feels like an excuse to get the story within published, like you'd written it, couldn't get it submitted, and so threw on a boring and pointless framing story to pad it out. And I do mean pointless; what's going on here? Twilight's hurt, Rainbow reads her a story, they comment on the story, Twilight falls asleep. The end. That's it. Nothing happens.

Worse, you didn't even make the story within the story relevant to anything. By itself, it just comes off as subpar poetry (and not Shel Silverstein in any way, shape or form) with a fairly trite plot.

I came into this looking for some kind of bonding between Twilight and Rainbow. Instead, I found myself muttering, "Get on with it," as pages of poetry rolled inexorably by. I am most definitely not reading the sequel. And why is this tagged comedy? There's nothing even remotely funny about it. In all, a dull chore of a story.
