Confound these ponies, why won't they just make up their mind? A few days ago an article in the Wallstreet Journal seemed to imply that Cadance and Shining Armor were scheduled for a fall release. It looks like they are actually coming out in the Spring according to the MLP Facebook page. I guess this means these two actually are our season finale? I guess only time will tell!

It makes much more sense that she's in the finale. Look up the music theory definition of "cadence."
Well, from the European toy show article, we know that the Cadence set is due out in August (which is probably about the time that the new DJ Pon-3, Zecora, Lyra, etc. toys will come out as well). I suspect that the press release was referring specifically to the toys, while the season finale that introduce those two will be in its usual May slot.

Other alicorns besides the Princesses are already canon, methinks. They were shown as an illustration in Twilight's book in the H&H episode; the princess in the book's historical tale was an alicorn.
I think what they meant is that they're getting married in the fall. As in, in the show it'll be fall when they're getting married.
That or the playset is coming out in the fall but we're getting the Season Finale much earlier.

Maybe are the toys already out? cause i would imagine hasbro would want them not to be seen on the show tell the toys are out seeing as it's geared for kids to buy.

'Save the Date' implies many things, my guess is that Cadance/Cadence will need rescuing, and Shining Armor will either take the spotlight, or be a case of 'Only one able to save her, but too cowardly/weak to do so' that will need encouragement from the Mane 6.
Must remain optimist... I have faith the writers will come up with something decent, no matter where the idea came from (likely not from them).

Let's see here, we had a possible reference to them in H&H and now talk of time travel in an upcoming episode. Hmmm the stage is being set for epic history altering Mane 6 adventures. I hope so anyways. At least something along those lines.

I always cry at weddings. They're like a slightly less depressing funeral, and the catering tends to be better. Plus dancing with granny isn't frowned upon at a wedding, unlike - um, I think I have a book to read.

Not even gonna speculate about these two. I'll just watch the show and trust the animation team to deliver da magics like they do every week. I'm not gonna form any opinion before hand.
The season finale will be about Cadance's wedding, which will air in the spring.
The toys will debut in the fall.
The debut of the toys does not have to be in sync with the debut of the characters on the show. The ep is going to air nonstop in repeats anyway.

I think it would be nice if Shining Armor's mane and (especially) tail could look a little less like a small child tried to style it and ended up pulling half of it out.

It's cute and mysterious at the same time... What her special talent might be ? An heart can mean so much things...
My guess? the two meet and fall in love at the end of season 2, (episode 26) which is technically a stand alone story. Then, the season 3 two part premeire in the fall focuses on them getting married.
But, maybe they are made in such way that you could look at it as a three parter if you wanted to. In that case, their may be some waffling at hasbro as to whether episodes are spread out OR if they want to air all three as one big "event."
A far fetched guess I know, but it sort of make sense with all the different, mildly contradictory stuff we've heard.

Hopefully we'll find out where Alicorns come from, if they are special, unique ones that only show up rarely, or if they are a race of immortal pony elves (ala Lord of the Rings).
The crew has shown they can make obligatory Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's day episodes awesome so I'm sure they'll find a way to make this awesome.
In all the rage about a new alicorn, did anyone ever consider that the team might make her an interesting character?

That's what I've been trying to say. People are doomsaying and whining that the episode(s) are/is going to be horrible because the characters are "forced"/"shoehorned"/"Hasbro OC's" or whatever.
Really, these are the SAME PEOPLE that brought us the rest of the show. Why would they suddenly do something shitty because of two more characters being added?
Seriously, it's like these people are just looking for something to whine about.
Is this the two derps who were in the story from Hearts and Hooves?
We'll just have to trust that the writing team does an amazing job with these two. They haven't failed us so far... maybe it'll be something epic!

For people complaining about her because she's a corporate insert, here's something REALLY important to remember:

Hasbro wanted the team to include this pony in the show, so LF made her a teacher. A season later, she gets an awesome episode like 'Hearts and Hooves Day'.
So just because Hasbro wants to add a character, it doesn't mean the character will be bad.
If this marriage is the season finale, then consider me extremely excited!
Whether they make their appearance season two or season three and are put into the show itself, I highly doubt they will become an important continual part of the show. Likely, they will have a short story arc revolving around their wedding or such, then we'll never see them again. Think along the same lines of Luna. Poor Luna. lol
I am wary as [buy some apples], but on the other hoof, maybe we'll find out some interesting lore about alicorns with this Cadence.
But it still doesn't give free reign to people to make alicorn OCs. Nope. Only Studio B gets to.
Todays episode mentioned a story of a kingdom falling apart due to a Love Poison between a prince and princess and the raise of chaos.
We have a certain character already known to be a spirit of chaos that was probably the cause.
In 4 weeks we shall see an episode where Twilight warns her past self of an event. Showing that time travel is possible.
I'm just saying... some of these strange events might actually be tied together...
Also, don't forget, Cadance being pink was probably one of the major contributing factors for getting our White Celestia toy.
Both the Mane Six and the CMC are, so to speak, powers of three.
Cadence might be seen as an attempt to create a similar "alicorn trio" with dedicated episodes.
In other words, Cadence = more Luna, hopefully.

People need to realize that Hasbro has been influencing the show from the very start. How can they not? They own it!
People also like to claim that Faust only wanted two winged unicorns. As if Faust is unable to change her mind in order to make the show grow.
(If she really was against the idea of more than two winged unicorns in the first place.)
Also, for a group of people that likes to take pride in enjoying a show for girls, some really freak out over the color pink.
Anyways, Cadance is adorable and i can't wait to both buy her toys and see her appear in the show.
Let me put it this way: one of my favorite episodes is about a pony making dresses for her friends.
From the description, you might assume this episode is dull. And you would be wrong.
I'll reserve judgement until I actually see them.

I'm guessing when WSJ said "autumn wedding", they meant in-universe autumn. Or they were just wrong.
So many news and rumors about these two lately. I'm too tired to speculate... Let the creators of the show do whatever they want, I don't even care at this point...
As for the Autumn Wedding, it's entirely possible that we could be facing the first cliff-hanger season finale of the show. Cadence's wedding could be the focus of both this spring and fall.

This is probably just me picking random things to support my preferred theory, but here goes:
We know from Hearts and Hooves Day that there was an "alicorn" princess in the past, who fell in love.
We know from It's About Time that some form of time travel is possible in Equestria.
Please oh please oh please be a time travel episode, Season Finale!

while a lot of the fan fiction has declared the princess as gods, the show has not gone so far. they even said that their power to raise the sun and moon is not unique to them. (hearths warming says normal unicorns can do it) the only unique powers they have shown so far is extra strength unicorn magic (lesson zero) and very long lives.
