• Introducing The Humble Brony Bundle

If you're not familiar with the Humble Bundles, essentially they're a group of indie games where you're encouraged to pay as much as you can afford for them. The proceeds largely go to charities such as Child's Play.

With that in mind, the founders of the Humble Brony Bundle want to become one of the largest contributors to the Humble Bundle cause! Check after the break for some copy-paste details, and check your wallets to see if there's anything you can donate to this worthy cause.

You can find the website here.

    Introducing... The Humble Brony Bundle!

So, what is the Humble Brony Bundle? A way for bronies to come together and create a fund to buy one big copy of the Humble Indie Bundle. By pooling our resources we can easily become one of the top ten contributors. Spread the word far enough and we could reach number one!

And by helping the cause you'll be supporting charity, indie gaming, and good publicity for all bronies everywhere!

Why should you join the Humble Brony Bundle cause?

You can see more info on these points at the Humble Brony Bundle website, but here is a quick overview:

    GOOD PUBLICITY:
The members of many fandoms are concerned about how others see them, and bronies in particular have some rather pastel-colored first impressions to overcome. Some people strongly fear bad press and will do anything they can to limit it.
I say... forget about the bad, let's make some GOOD press! Let's show the world that when bronies come together we make good things happen! What is the good? Well:

    CHARITY:
60% of all Humble Brony Bundle proceeds will be contributed to charity. This is split between two groups: Child's Play, who provides games to sick children in hospitals, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a group of passionate digital rights experts and advocates working to maintain free speech and privacy on the Internet.

    INDIE GAMING:
30% of all Humble Brony Bundle proceeds will be contributed to indie game developers, those guys out there making the small games we love and LIVING THE DREAM!

    HUMBLE BUNDLE, INC.:
10% of all Humble Brony Bundle proceeds will be contributed to Humble Bundle, Inc., without which none of this would be possible since they pay for the massive bandwidth to keep HumbleBundle.com going.

How can you join the cause?

Go to the Humble Brony Bundle website and donate! If you aren't able to donate then please spread the word far and wide!

Thank you, everypony, and have a great Thanksgiving!

    2. This is SUCH a good idea. Give us a better name. Do good for others. Donating now.

      ReplyDelete
    3. I love this! I donated to Hartmen House when NSFW interviewed Tara Strong ((Twilight Sparkle) It sucks how I have to specify which Twilight I'm refering to -_-). Let's show everypony we don't neigh love and tolerance- we trot it! ;)

    4. I've not really got any money to donate myself. Hurray for being poor.

But I'm glad all the proceeds go to good causes like charities and helping to support indie gaming.

    5. Love this idea. Unfortunately, I've got nothing to donate. Gah.

      ReplyDelete
    6. Does this mean each person who donates gets a copy of the humble bundle?

      ReplyDelete
    7. You don't get the bundle, it's really just to appear as the number one donator, which is certain to at least show what the community is capable of. It's worth it, in my opinion.

    8. 10$ in the pot! I'm spending so much money this week...

      ReplyDelete
    9. Sothalic is right: only one copy of the games will be purchased. If you want to own the games you can pay your own price at the Humble Indie Bundle after donating to us, since all the money will go to the same places anyway! So, if you have $5 to pay for the Humble Indie Bundle, donate $4 to the Humble Brony Bundle, then buy a $1 copy off the Indie Bundle site to get your own key.

Make sense? If not, I'll be happy to help clarify!

Thank you very much to those who have already donated! It's GREATLY appreciated! I'm very gratified that there are others that agree that this was a good idea. :D

    10. This sounds entirely reasonable. $10 from me as well.

      ReplyDelete
    11. If they make a MLP Indie Game, I will buy it.

      Good luck

    12. Fantastic idea, have ten dorra.

    13. Also, if the previous Humble Bundles are any indication, Notch's $2000 donation should be the one to top, it really isn't a big amount.

There might be an issue with accepting a single donation made of a pool of contributors, but since this is for charity, I really don't think they'll see an issue with it.

Heck, 'worst' case scenario is that someone donates even more to one-up the donation, that wouldn't be so bad, going to charity, would it?

    14. Put in my $5... already bought this particuler Humble Bundle too, as its a good one :D

hmmm... somebody should make an Equestria mod for DEFCON, I think

      ReplyDelete
    15. Plus I think that if anyone intended to purchase the game bundle, he can give a minimum amount to the purchase and the rest donate to the brony bundle. This way the community gets good publicity and the bundle gets their money anyway.

    16. @Cupcakes Nom This sounds like a good idea, and I know the Humble Bundle is a good cause, so I'll probably donate. What I was wondering was if there was some kind of counter showing how much you've raised. That way we could see how much more we need to get the top spot.

      ReplyDelete
    17. I'm all for this as it's a neat idea, and even plan to make a donation.

However, I would kinda prefer some assurance that the paypal side of things has been set up correctly - I'd hate for them to do anything to the account just because it didn't meet their terms of service or rules in some way, as I've heard they can be rather... fickle about fundraising like this.

      ReplyDelete
    18. What's the deadline?

      ReplyDelete
    19. Circuit: Unfortunately the amount donated by the top ten is going to change over the course of the next 10 days before the Humble Brony Bundle makes its donation, so knowing that for sure isn't going to be possible... However, I certainly plan on updating the site with totals now that the ball is really rolling!

For now all I can tell you is that we WILL hit the top ten. Why do I say that? We're only 40 minutes into the real start of the campaign and we just broke $150! But, I don't know about you guys, I'm not going to be satisfied with only hitting number 10 or 9, not when we could be in the top three!

      ReplyDelete
    20. So its basically to get one of the top 10 contributor spots in the current bundle? sounds like a great idea if so.

      ReplyDelete
    21. maskedmustelid: Considering we're using the actual Donation functionality of Paypal, we're in the clear. They don't consider it "Donation" actually, but "Fundraising," which anyone can do. They know I'm not a 501(c)(3) organization and this is still fine.

If this was being done through "Gifts" in Paypal THEN we'd be in trouble and shut down lickity split.

      ReplyDelete
    22. Tossed in my two mites.

      Who was that masked mustelid?

      ReplyDelete
    23. Great idea, it's for a good cause and we can sow ourselves more in the community!

      ReplyDelete
    24. Just donated $20 bucks to the charity. This is a great cause to rally behind. Let's do it Bronies!!

      ReplyDelete
    25. In for $10. There's few causes more worthy than Child's Play.

      ReplyDelete
    26. Definitely going to donate.
I have a few questions though.
-When will the Brony bundle donate?
-What will the name of the user that donates? So we can see if we made the top ten..or really the more realistic question: what place in the top ten did we get?

      ReplyDelete
    27. You had me at "part of the donation goes to Child's Play"

      ReplyDelete
    28. 5$ from me... pretty much for my current state but I really want to make bronies look good

      ReplyDelete
    29. Smashballed: Saturday, December 3rd.

As for the name, that's not 100% determined yet. "Humble Brony Bundle" makes the most sense, because people can search for it and find the site and find out who we are.

However, I have an idea up my sleeve if we are particularly successful... Let's see what we can do! :D

      ReplyDelete
    30. First time I have ever donated online.

      ReplyDelete
    31. I just checked on the humble indie bundle website and the 2 top contributors are at 1000,and 500 dollars respectively, that means the humble brony bundle is in the top 10 for sure! Good job! :D

      ReplyDelete
    32. see their update, we are at 500$ NOW !!! we are definitely on second place already !

      ReplyDelete
    33. Baron: Thank you very much for doing so! It's because of people like you, taking a risk and spending a little money on a good cause, that I can announce that we just broke $700.

Yes, seriously! We're at $700.25 as I type this! SO much money raised for such great causes, and the number one top contributor spot is a VERY realistic goal, all thanks to every one of you!!

      ReplyDelete
    34. I just donated $20, after announcing that I am a Brony to my entire extended family at Thanksgiving dinner (my sister brought it up, primarily to mock me, as siblings do). Most laughed at me, some were incredulous, some called me immature or implied that I was gay (not that there's anything wrong with that, I wholeheartedly support LGBT rights). I did not shy away and explained my fondness for the show, and several of my female cousins have had their curiosity piqued and have said they will watch the show.

      TL;DR
I said I was a proud Brony at Thanksgiving and got laughed at, and I donated $20 to the cause.

      ReplyDelete
    35. MyBoyJ: Wow, that's some guts... Major props for doing that, and doing such a confident job of it that you converted a few of your cousins! And, of course, thank you for the donation! :D

      ReplyDelete
    36. @MyBoyJ Congratulations dude, not everyone has the guts to tell their family/friends about it :P
I could say you qualify to be Rainbow's pet in that aspect? hehe

Now on topic, we are seriously going to get that top 1 lol, it ends december 3rd, and they've just said they broke $700 10 minutes ago.

      ReplyDelete
    37. @Haze

Thanks, but I don't know the difference between coolness, awesomeness, and radicalness.

      ReplyDelete
    38. I wont be able to donate today, but I will definitely be able to donate before the Dec. 3rd deadline.

Ponies and the Brony Community got me through some challenging times, so anyway to give back would be an honor. :)

      ReplyDelete
    39. sure, i have some money sitting in my paypal account i'm not using. i would love to donate to help charities and the brony image

      ReplyDelete
    40. I'll throw in a donation on the 1st of december for sure

      ReplyDelete
    41. @Cupcakes Nom Exactly the reassurance I was after - off to donate some now!

      ReplyDelete
    42. YES!!! I support this ALL THE WAY!!!

      ReplyDelete
    43. Certainly a good cause to donate to

      ReplyDelete
    44. If only I had money q_q

      ReplyDelete
    45. Fucking hell, and here I was thinking I'd get away with not donating to this bundle on account of already having all these games.

I gladly contribute my $5 to this noble cause.

What a bloody brilliant idea. We're already #2 in the running. Go bronies! Aim for #1! This is what this fandom is all about!

      ReplyDelete
    46. Hiya, I help as a chat support volunteer on the bundles, just wanted to thank this awesome community for putting this together!

Stop by the chat support widget sometime, you might catch me.

      -Johannes

    47. Already bought the bundle for 10 bucks couple of days ago, but I still donated 20 bucks for the good cause behind it.

Make me feel proud of being a part of this fandom, bronies.

      ReplyDelete
    48. Dropped my $10 in the pot. Donating to Child's Play and supporting indie devs are two things I can always get behind with what little money I have.

      ReplyDelete
    49. Just tossed 10$ in the pot.

      We'll rule them all.

      ReplyDelete
    50. Definitely a great idea! You an expect a donation from me soon!

      ReplyDelete
    51. Once I've taken stock of my year-end finances, sure, why not? :3

      --Zena

      ReplyDelete
    52. The money I was saving to download some games, I'll gladly donate instead and help a noble cause, as well as give bronies a good name.

      ReplyDelete
    53. Another great big THANK YOU to all the generous EqD readers who have donated!

Thanks to our combined efforts we're currently number one! The way the Humble Indie Bundle works we can actually increase our current payment point to stay on top, assuming we have enough donations. Currently if someone comes in with a $2750 or higher payment point we will be displaced from the top spot without enough cash on hoof to catch up, so keep it up, everypony!
