Rainbow Dash episode time, it has been a while. For being so popular, she doesn't get a whole lot of air time. All information can be found after the break. As always, synopsis and episodes can change, so we are sticking with a rumor tag for now. The source is the same one as the last five updates, so it's a good one.

Not even Batmare, I'm saying the legitimate Batman glared the laws of time and space into to letting him go to a new world because he beat all of the criminals in Gotham. Don't believe he could do it? Just Youtube him, I've spent the past 2 hours watching 5 minute clips. Trust me, Batman could do it.
ReplyDeleteI've got a least favorite character as well, but that doesn't mean I'll allow my bias to ruin my enjoyment of an episode that might be fun and actively seek to avoid watching it just because of what the main character is. That's just silly.

ReplyDeleteI'll second that. Pinkie is my least favorite of the mane six, but that didn't stop Party of One from being one of my top five episodes of the show (and no, it's not because I enjoy the Cupcakes implications).

@Timofei Don't worry so much about the apparent lack of AJ episodes. Applejack has appeared in every episode aired so far except for Stare Master, and we all know she's an awesome pony.

ReplyDeleteFor all those waiting for an Applejack episode, you may have to wait till near the end of the season. True Applejack is a very honest pony. She will in fact wait for others to say their part before bringing in her true wisdom and grace. Let the others have their moments in the spotlight. A truly honest pony understands her time will come, and when it does she will be the best heard and most remembered of them all.

It's cause she's so darn fast.
You see, what most fans don't know is that's Rainbow Dash has actually been in about 20% more scenes than they realize, it's just that she's been moving too fast to be seen with the naked eye. To get more screen time for her we'd have to pull a Mythbusters and use a high speed camera to really see what's going on.

ReplyDeleteAnyway, this "masked mare" definitely sounds like an interesting character, and Rainbow Dash getting jealous of him/her definitely SOUNDS like something Rainbow Dash would do. In fact, I'm surprised they haven't used that premise already.
It's almost certainly another pegasi, because what would be more threatening to Dash than another flying pony? I'm betting that it's probably new character.

While we're making likely-to-be-wrong predictions, I'll posit that the superhero will be a new character named Major Mare who turns out to be causing every problem that she somehow fixes, with Rainbow Dash eventually getting her rightful glory, because Powerpuff Girls.

Since she's trying to take on a superhero, I hope Rainbow Dash tries to become a super villain, to get the new pony to accept her challenge. We may even get to see her in her shadowbolt costume again. <3

When I first read the description at work I thought it would be Fluttershy. I have this feeling that when she has a mask on and nobody knows who she is, she gains all sorts of crazy confidence.

The instant we see this masked pony, WE'LL know who it is if it's anypony that has had more than 0.000000000000000001 seconds of screentime, but in-universe the disguise will be absolutely perfect to all except maybe Pinkie or Twilight. Pinkie for being Pinkie, and Twilight for being not-stupid.

ReplyDelete1) Most likely a new character.
2) Who knows a lot about masks? The Wonderbolts, of course.
3) Who knows how to make masks, and has already tried to steal RD's thunder before? Yup, Rarity.
4) Trollestia strikes again, going extra lengths to deliver a message about friendship (friends help friends, real friends help hide the body of the dead villains.)
5) Wait, forget Batman(mare), who do we know is a pony of night, has gothicly inclined tastes, and has a commanding voice, almost like thunder? Could it be... Luna?? (I want this the most, even though it is the least likely)
6) Rainbow Day (just because of the shared name, really)
Also, add me to the list of bronies crying out "Two RD episodes in a row, and the last Applejack centric episode we got was the fourth episode of season 1?? No wonder Seth has such a bad opinion of her, she hasn't had a turn in the spotlight in over a year!" (And Applejack would be easy to write an episode about, Seth. What's the one thing she has that none of the other mane ponies do? A family that lives with her! Give us a nice slice of life story about how Granny, AJ, Big Mac, and Apple Bloom get along.)

SHADOW DASH.
I'm not talking about the "Rainbow Dash + ShadowBolt costume" Shadow Dash, but a totally different character.
After all, everypony know that Rainbow Dash is actually Sonic's pony-girl version! XD
... So why not have a pony-girl counterpart for Shadow?
Less... angsty and with less tragic past (it's still MLP, after all!), less problems with showing her kind/gentle side (she would be a FEMALE, after all!), but still as AWESOME as her hedgehog counterpart!
OF COURSE, it's HIGHLY unlikely that it would actually be "SHADOW Dash" (with a black-and-red color scheme and everything), of course: there's the copyright thing...
...But wouldn't that be SO AWESOME if it could happen!?! /)^É›^(\
I LOVE Rainbow Dash, but I think that sometimes she needs somepony to put her in her place ( <-- Euphemism for "kick her flank")... and who better than "Shadow Dash"?
In my own stupid mind, there's already a "Shadow Dash" in the MLPFiM universe who hasn't showed up yet... and when she will, she'll be as BADFLANK as you can get!

It could be Trixie - not in beating Dash in a race or anything, but in just one-upping Dash in general. As the Applejack V RainbowDash rivalry showed, Dash doesn't like anyone being better than her in /any/ competition.

Oh, and in reverse, who I think it won't be:

It won't be Twilight because she's the straight character. And the show follows her anyway, so she can't be hidden.
It won't be Fluttershy because she's already known for her niceness, but also for her cowardice. And a complete-opposite-alter-ego story would suck.
It won't be Rarity or Applejack because we already had rivalries with them against Dash.
It won't be Pinkie because one-upping her friends is really not anything Pinkie would do.
It won't be Firefly or one of the Bolts, because they're masked celebrities already.
It... could be Derpy, actually? Just thinking about it.
It won't be your OCs.
Oh, and forgot to say: Trixie's big thing is that she always wants to be popular for her actions. Being a superhero so the town would adore her is certainly something she would do.

Also she's physically fit for the job), it's about time she did some awesome stuff, she already likes competing with Rainbow Dash...could just be it.

Sounds cool. Dash could use some decent character development, or at least an opportunity to show a different side of her personality. The ep before it seems like a purely "fun" one so I doubt that would have a lot of development, but I've been wrong about this kind of thing before.

This is looking to be a fun episode, I was hoping for an excuse for them to use masked heroes or mystery mares for some comicbook/ adventure story spin.
Kinda reminds me of this one fic except it was Rainbow Dash playing the part of the masked hero due to her accidently coming to the rescue while wearing a custom-ordered Wonderbolt uniform she was test/fan flying in.
I have to say, I think Applejack or Gilda would make for the most interesting story. But I'm ready to be proven wrong.

2)Stronger than Rainbow Dash? Yeah, Fluttershy managed to reach RD on in Episode 2 and YES, she was carrying a balloon with two ponies while Rainbow was only carrying another two ponies. But remember: Twilight's balloon is magical and can stand on clouds, even with non-pegasi ponies on it. Please, don't start talking about air resistance because if it really existed in the show, Dash would burn by the air friction when she perfomed the rainboom.
3) More vicious? Well, maybe... that depends on the definition of "vicious" of each person, but... I don't know.
P.S.: 2.2) Iron Pony Competiton, "Fall Weather Friends" episode. Applejack and Dash were virtually tied in the tug of war and in the push-up matches. Thus, if Fluttershy is stronger than Rainbow Dash, she *technically* needs to be stronger than AJ, too. Applejack is an Earth Pony and can buck apple trees with ease. Yay for Applejack.
...okay, I exaggerated a little bit with my arguments in this comment...

ReplyDeleteThe title is "The Mysterious Mare Do Well" which is a play on words for "Ne'er Do Well". The new "Hero" Could easily be trying to win favor with ulterior motives. Think a tones down version of Jet From Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Hmm, stealing Dash's thunder? The Mare Do Well might be seen as that by Dash and be genuinely heroic. I hope it;s Trixie come back for redemption, donning a mask so she might remain humble.

It would be funny if it were Trixie. At the end of the episode maybe she would have to team up with RD to fight an Ursa Major without Twilight (or with, but the tactic won't work). She would succeed but because her mask is enchanted similar to the Grey Fox's. No one would believe that she is the masked hero, even if she took it off in public :P .

Hmm, I have mixed expectations of this episode. What I'm HOPING for is the episode to be a tribute to a lot of superheroes, say like Batman, and be peppered with a lot of references to them. The story, I hope, whilst RD learning say she must not do good things to get attentions but because it's the right thing to do, that it's not foamed in like other episodes of shows that do this kind of episode.

ReplyDeleteMy idea: If you've got functioning VCR record the Mars spacecraft launch. If not then just hope someone uploads it to YouTube. (Remember MLP:FiM reruns once after its first showing, so if the launch only lasts about half an hour than you can watch both one after the other.)
