Well, I actually expected that RD will get a pet in season two, as she's the only one of the mane 6 without a pet. Also, this clears the path for an episode featuring the six pets, with the ponies just being supporting characters.

Well, I see people saying Twilight's pet is Spike. Though technically Spike isn't a pet per-se. Though she does have Owlowiscious. Kinda. Non-recurring pet, but pretty much the closest thing besides Spike.
Can't wait for episode! But first, we have to deal with no New pony episodes next week and then 2 more episodes that I'm also looking forward to.

I doubt there are nearly as many after the Luna episode, those of us that were kind of disappointed with the start of the season seem to almost unanimously have had their faith renewed in season 2.

The toy tie-ins appear to be unrelated to the show. I have a brushable Dash that came with a horrifying squirrel. Needless to say, my Dash is never seen with the thing nor the 'wagon'.

Yeah. Toy rainbow has had pets. Though, the only two I remember are the squirrel from the normal brushable and the turtle from the scooter set.
Has Rainbow Dash started striking anyone as a bit mean recently? Maybe it's just reading this so soon after her lightning cloud pranks in today's episode, but now I see her making animals compete for her affection. That and they showed The Cutie Mark Chronicles, where Fluttershy falls, potentially to her death (if not for the dark matter butterflies) and RD is too busy racing to notice, on Dizaster321's livestream prior to today's episode.

Rose is right. Judging a show 1 month before it airs doesn't make much sense to me. I give all episodes a shot before making a formal review and judgement on a specific episode. So far I haven't seen one bad episode at all in S1 and so far none in S2. Overall all of the episodes are great. Give the episode a chance you might end up liking it a'in the end.

According to the popular belief, It looks like there are three main possibilities (that wont happen)
1. Scootalooooo!
2. Turtle
3. That putrid squirrel the toy comes with...
I personally think there will be one participant in the race, that is not fast at all, and rainbow dash will feel sympathy for it, and most likely take it under her wing, and she teaches it to fly better, or w/e... The way the experts write the show, it's truly unpredictable.
And I just released this morning that Rainbow Dash was the only mane pony with no pet, huh, nice coincidence.
@rp-sesu No, Rainbow Dash has always been a little tactless. The bit in Ticket Master where she was all 'Sweet, if none of you want the tickets, I'll take 'em' is the only example I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure there's others.
We're in for an Aesop about how it's not how awesome!!! a pet looks but how awesome!!! it is; granted, Rainbow Dash won't really take the lesson to heart but that's only because she doesn't really take the time to see how big a creep she looks like. When somepony with crossed eyes finally teaches her that lesson, the great big heart underneath all the junk, laziness and bluster will break clean in two.
I bet some of the bronies would like to be Dash's pet. Or Twilight's, or Rarity's, or... ;)

Sounds like this will be another good ep! Of COURSE Dash wouldn't be satisfied with going to the pet store to pick up a goldfish or dog. She has to have the FASTEST, most AWESOME pet EVER (although I bet the aesop will be slow and steady wins the race).

Sounds like it's gonna be an interesting episode.
I can already see the Scoots jokes on the horizon. Though the only way it can be a Turtle is if it's a Paratroopa, Gamera or that little sea turtle from that Love Hina show.
And technically chickens can fly(or atleast hover) they just can't stay afloat. My relatives in Trinidad have neighbors with chickens in their yard and those guys nest in the rather tall trees out back instead of a chicken coop.
I've never understood why a "Owlowicious on a perch" isn't a background prop in the library for more episodes. Just draw the bird with his eyes closed and stick him by a window. He's supposed to be asleep during the day anyway.
I will sum up what happens. The underdog will win, RD despite being initially surprised and disappointed that the "cool" pet lost, will learn a Celestia-ish lesson and come to love her new pet.
I want a episode staring Derpy. She really needs a true sense to shine and I want to hear what she sounds like.

I really hope this is a Dash-centric episode and not all about Scootaloo trying to get her attention. I don't think RD has been the A-plot since Sonic Rainboom.
As for the actual pet, I'm hoping for some sort of pterosaur; it's the only thing awesome enough for her... but more than likely it'll be something adorable/colorful like a lorikeet.

Huzzah! The most awesome pony finally gets the spotlight again! After this, all we need is another Fluttershy-centric episode or an episode comparable in adventure content to "Dragonshy" and my life will be complete.
Too bad somepony already has a phoenix, because that would have been a most excellent pet for Dash.
Let's hope for a drake. Spike needs more dragon-y friends, or he's going to grow up maladjusted. Well, MORE maladjusted. He lives with Twilight, so there's really no saving him entirely.
Alternately, we haven't seen whether Equestria has Elementals or elemental spirits like Djinni. A wind elemental or something comparable would make the perfect pet for Dash!

I hope the episode will have more than just what the description is saying. Sure it's a good idea for a Rule of Funny Episode. But if it's Just Rainbow Dash gathering up a bunch of Animals to race them... doesn't give a lot to go with. I mean, what on earth can the Moral be "Dear Princess Celestia, today I learned that Racing Small Animals for your own enjoyment is not cool. Now help me get out of Jail, I'm being charged with "Animal Cruelty"".
Hopefully more characters will get involved. An Episode with Just Rainbow Dash would be a little dull, it's always more fun to have characters to bounce off her.

Look the description says that Rainbow sets up a flying race to see how will be her Pet.
That still doesn't mean that any of the Animals she chooses to be in the Race will be her Pet.
So the Turtle CAN STILL BE her Pet.
I can imagine it, Sometime when Rainbow starts to feel left out with her being the only Pony without a pet she meets a Turtle that Follows her around, The Other Ponies will see her with the Turtle and will question Rainbow if it's her Pet and Rainbow would respond that it isn't and that She Hates Turtles and would fly off.
Eventually after a Mess the Flying Race becomes Rainbow will see the awesomeness that the Turtle is and thinks twice about it and the Turtle will become the New Pet.
In other words, another "Don't judge a book by it's cover." Story OR it will be a "Slow and Steady Wins the Race" story.
Who knows but I'm rooting for Rainbow Dash getting a Turtle!
