• Tubey Awards Round 2!

How can you not vote for that face?!  She would be CRUSHED if you didn't help her win! Do you think Rarity's whining is obnoxious (assuming you aren't like Cereal who thinks it's the voice of angels)?  Trixie's JOB is being loud and annoying.  If she doesn't win, you might as well have your ear drums surgically removed.

Anyway, the Tubey Awards have moved on to a new round of polls.   Friendship is Magic is up for the following:

Most Underrated Show - Poll #6
Guiltiest TV Pleasure - Poll #13

    Tubey Awards

IMPORTANT- If a vote goes through, you will see this image!
Firefox seems to have some issues with their site.  You might have to use chrome for your vote to count!

I agree, I enjoy it quite openly. It's sorta one of those awards thats ok to win or lose.

    13. So wait, the last round of voting never showed the "you voted screen". Does that mean the vote didn't count?

    14. To the people who say Firefox worked fine, did you guys upgrade to 5 yet? It didn't work for me, I had to use IE.

    15. Even as a fan of a show I don't really take offense to it being in the "Underrated" category, but I just wanna know: Why is it there in the first place?

      ReplyDelete
    16. I was gonna vote for MLP as most underrated show but then I saw Warehouse 13 on the list and decided it needed some love. (I'm so sorry Trixie!) I did vote for MLP as the best guilty pleasure however.

      ReplyDelete
    17. Done and done.

Now with the easy choices out of the way, time to try and figure out what deserves the honor for worst reality show... why is there no "all of the above" option, darn it?

      ReplyDelete
    18. If the show is so underrated, how can it be a guilty pleasure? For that matter, what does the highest rating in a "most underrated" poll even mean? Did Derpy come up with these categories?

      Regardless, voted.

      ReplyDelete
    19. Bronies feel guilt? I thought we all just felt deep, deep pleasure.

      +1 underrated vote, though.

    20. are tubeys a significant award? this is the first i've heard of them.

    21. Im on firefox, worked fine for me!
Voted for MLP for the most underrated and for the guiltiest TV pleasure... lol xD

    22. The second I saw the category "Worst Reality Show Moment" contained the tragic death of Captain Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie (Deadliest Catch), pitted against such moments as "Danielle gets her hair pulled" (Real Housewives of New Jersey), "Kasey gets a tattoo" (The Bachelorette), and "Phillip wears pink skivvies" (Survivor: Redemption Island)...I ALMOST FUCKING VOMITED WITH PURE RAGE.

FUCK the authors of this poll, and FUCK their results. Anyone who compares the loss of a real life to some fucking idiot wearing "pink skivvies" deserves no friendship and/or tolerance from this fandom, and I'm shocked that EqD is plugging such a poll.

Yes, I mad. With the force of 10,000 suns mad right now. Thanks for that, EqD.

    23. But I am not guilty about ponies at all! I yell it to everyone i see basically! I WEAR RARITY SHIRTS AROUND CAMPUS. But i will vote for the sake of ponydom.

Alright guys, do your part, VOTE PONIES!

      ReplyDelete
    25. Methinks that the collectors of this poll did just that: collect. They just took suggestions from a bunch of people and whatever got approved was added.

So calm down guys, what's in the list has absolutely nothing to do with each other except that they're in the same category.

That said, I wonder how the heck Casey Abrams singing Smells Like Teen Spirit got into the "Worst Reality show Moment."

      ReplyDelete
    26. Sooo Did MLP Win the votes one the first round? I was never updated on that.

      ReplyDelete
    27. I'm not voting for guiltiest pleasure, because it's not a guilty pleasure for me, it's just one of many shows that I honestly love, no shame in that =\

I am voting for most under-rated show though. Curse this "animation age ghetto" that North America is still stuck in.

      ReplyDelete
    28. @Anonymous

Only a mindless idiot patronizing other mindless idiots would put the loss of a life in the same category as a poor singing performance (covering the art of another tragically dead person, I might add).

It doesn't matter how they compiled it. It was without coherent thought or reason, and so the results will be displayed in the same manner. Without thought or reason. There will be no good press to come of a MLP victory. Even if MLP:FiM wins its category, it will be as meaningless and heartless as the way they chose the candidates.

      ReplyDelete
    29. I voted for Underrated. ^^ Can't resist The Great and Powerful Trixie. ^^

      ReplyDelete
    30. Be sure to vote Jersey Shore as Worst Returning Show!

      ReplyDelete
    31. Would either of them really fit? I don't see FIM as being underrated (not that it's overrated, mind you), and guilty pleasure implies that you are embarrassed or ashamed of watching the show (which you shouldn't be, in my opinion).

      ReplyDelete
    32. Reasoning on the underrated is probabily a follow-up that MLP:FIM got snubbed at the Daytime Emmy Nominations.

Seriously, got zero while Transformers Prime, (Both on HUB mind you) got 6 nominations.

It was definitely a "WTF?" moment when it happened.

      ReplyDelete
    33. Most Underrated Show? Lies.

      ReplyDelete
    34. I didn't vote for statistical accuracy, I voted for ponies! Guilty pleasure? MLP:FiM? I think not.

      ReplyDelete
    35. Guiltiest Pleasure?
I'm proud to watch the show

      ReplyDelete
    36. @Landmine To rephrase that because it sounds negative: There is no guilt when it comes to ponies. Vote for ponies. Vote MLP:FiM.

      ReplyDelete
    37. @Meow

Thank you. A more pony-centric reason to reject this poll in its entirety, and not vote at all.

I was the anon who twice posted above about my outrage over their comparison of a real human death to (arguably staged) ridiculous "reality television" trivial events.

I wish to ascribe my handle to this opinion now though, since my anger over this garbage being taken seriously only grows by the second.

Any MLP:FiM "victory" that comes of this will be tainted by the same haphazard and unthinking method in which the questions and options of this poll were formulated.

I say don't vote. No one that views the results (aside from bronies who voted in it) will ever view MLP:FiM with any more legitimacy than they would have previously.

      ReplyDelete
    38. Hey, um.. where exactly is the "Submit Vote" button? I can't find it..

      ReplyDelete
    39. @Abjuron

I wish I'd read your comments before I voted. You make an excellent point, and I've seen enough episodes of "Deadliest Catch" to know what it's like when a boat goes down.

      ReplyDelete
    40. I have no clue how to submit my votes...

      ReplyDelete
    41. Scroll down to the bottom of the list in each category after selecting your option and there will be a vote button.

      ReplyDelete
    42. Blech, had to use IE. I feel unclean...

      ReplyDelete
    43. This show is Certainly not underrated I don't think

      ReplyDelete
    44. Gah, why must they have it on most underrated? To me, the fact that we're all here shows its getting the deserved respect, from many, at least.

      ReplyDelete
    45. @Aquaman52

Well, to be honest, Captain Phil Harris did not die of a capsized boat, but of a stroke while his boat was in dock, but that does nothing to minimize the weight of a human life lost. I earnestly thank you for your support of my opinion though!

      @BagOfChips

One of my grandfathers lost his life to a stroke (as I'm sure is true of many bronies out there, since strokes are a tragically common cause of death), and I think that he would be just as indignant as I am right now to being compared to a man in "pink skivvies" or someone "getting a tattoo".

Publicity gained by this poll will only serve to feed into the pandering news services that have already labeled us as unemployed, basement-dwelling, zoophiles.

If they can equate a lost life to wearing pink panties, then they CAN and WILL certainly equate our love of MLP:FiM to zoophilia, or something similarly distasteful to the public. Both comparisons are implicit ad hominem attacks on otherwise innocent and free thinking groups of people.

Any such ad hominem attack WILL be bad publicity. Thinking otherwise is naïveté. Thinking that an organization that resorts to comparing DEATH to panties or tattoos will not resort to such sensationalist tactics towards us is similarly naïve.

The best case scenario in my view, is that they ignore the MLP:FiM questions in their analysis completely (assuming that we "win"). Bronies who voted will be self assured their opinion matters, and the world goes on...

However, if we "win" and they DO chose to focus on the MLP:FiM victories, do you honestly expect the same people who compared death to pink panties and tattoos to treat our fandom with any measure of respect?

      Is THAT "good publicity"???

      ReplyDelete
    46. To those wondering why FiM is only up for Most Underrated Show and Guiltiest Pleasure, it was already up for Best New Show last round (and we still don't know the results of that).

      ReplyDelete
    47. @Abjuron

I don't personally like reality tv much, so I'd skipped over those categories before voting.

Seeing what you've talked about, I think it’s more a factor about how poor the quality of "reality" tv is that actual, human tragedy is shown alongside the rest of the tripe that's listed there.

I don't think they're trying to draw any real comparison between the nominees as to the level of seriousness of each event however. It’s likely the other nominations were made by people who haven’t watched Deadliest Catch.

The poll organisers need to have more than one option available in each category though, and I think decrying the entire poll and trying to predict the likely outcomes because of the category groupings may be reading a bit much at this point.

Not saying your scenarios is implausible at all ... I've seen too many knee-jerk negative reactions to MLP to say otherwise. But in the end, bad press for the fandom is hardly anything new (cough*fox*cough). We'll just have to take it in our stride. =)

      -==-

As for myself, I think FiM does qualify for "underrated" outside of this community. (still struggling to spread awareness of it down here, it’s an uphill battle by far).

Is it a 'guilty' pleasure? Probably not, but that won't stop me backing it in that poll either =)

      ReplyDelete
    48. @Abjuron

People are going to think what they want to think about a group of older males watching a show who's original target demographic was little girls (although several of the staff have stated that they did anticipate some, but not this much success, outside of the target) regardless of what we do.

I say let them make up any stereotypes or crap they want to. I tell people its the manliest show on earth, and if they are interested beyond that go look it up themselves. I'm not going to ignore who I am and take up another meandering position in an overly-conformist society.

      DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

      ReplyDelete
    49. Fuck that! They said Community was one of the most overrated shows?!?!?!1 this poll can blow my Big Macintosh.

      ReplyDelete
    50. I voted MLP for both categories, even if I don't feel they express my opinions on the show, I wanted to give my support for it in this contest. Why are most of the categories so negative anyway? I would have loved to have voted on more than just Guiltiest Pleasure and Most Underatted.

Speaking tangently of categories though, I was a little disappointed I could only vote positively for Game of Thrones in Best Quote. I was going to go with Sansa's line about Geoffry for pure humor's sake, but then I saw "What do we say to the God of Death…?" Instant win. Too bad most of the other good quotes were left out. What's with two quotes from that certain scene in A Golden Crown? The scene was horrifying and I don't think any of the lines from it were cool so much as cruel, even Danny's. Okay, done being off topic.

      ReplyDelete
    51. @ Hoshi

The poll updates the categories each week (hence why this is round 2). Last week MLP was in "Best new show" and "Best Musical" for Winter Wrap Up.

I'm guessing the results will be out once all 3 rounds of voting are completed.

      ReplyDelete
    52. @ Zeptometer

MLP got in the Under-rated category, not Over-rated.

(sorry for double post, shouldve noticed that earlier)

      ReplyDelete
    53. @Anonymous

Ahh, thank you. I had assumed that 'round 1' was a sort of weeding out for the categories, and that these were the entries that made it past. Ridiculous in hindsight, since there were so many entries in each category. That's what I get for commenting this late in the evening. I also messed up almost all the Game of Thrones names, I guess I should read the book too.

      ReplyDelete
    54. Wow, these nominations have just so much hate. 'The Simpsons' getting nominated for worst returning series? Oh, now that's just...

Anyway, got my votes in. Though honestly, considering how fast the community is growing, how much Hasbro is expanding and advertising the series, and how much coverage bronies are getting in the news, I have a lot of difficulty honestly thinking MLP:FiM is underrated.

After all, the last thing I would do is consider the wild success and popularity of Equestria Daily to be underrated. You guys are GIGANTIC! Veritable behemoths towering proud over yonder gnats like us!

Underrated? Heck no. MLP:FiM is the inspirational Cinderella story of the year! The show the defied all odds, exploded with supernova force across multiple demographics, and effectively silenced the NEEEEIGHsayers. It has brought about the fastest growing subculture of Internet denizens who are unafraid to defy the existing conventions of trolling and caddywompus Internet 'justice' and adopt a mentality of compassion and open-heartedness to others!

      It has changed the world.

      Changed. The world!

Underrated? I dare say I disagree. We, the fanbase, have worked hard to ensure it spreads, and welcome all into the herd.

      ReplyDelete
    55. Voted, also voted Jersey Shore in every negative catergory possible

      ReplyDelete
    56. @Anonymous

I completely agree with everything you said. I've calmed down significantly since my first post, and while I still hold to my indignation over the irresponsibility of the poll organizers, if people want to vote here supporting MLP:FiM, whatevs. It can't hurt more than the existing bad press already has, right?

Although...as much as it may seem like trolling, I swear that it's not. I simply cannot post without one caveat, hopefully dispelling a perceived misconception of bias I have commonly seen in this community...

You implicated Fox News for bad press of MLP:FiM. However, their late, LATE night program "Red Eye" is the only program of theirs to report on "bronies" to my knowledge, and BOTH of their reports were done in good, non-patronizing fun. ALTHOUGH, on the other side of the political bias spectrum, National Public Radio (colloquially known as NPR) has had but one "report" where they both personally insulted Sethisto (insinuating he operated EqD from his mother's basement), and belittled and patronized our entire fandom.

I have read and listened to every major and minor news outlet's take on "bronies". That is why I fear this poll. I honestly pray you are correct, and I am made to look like Chicken Little. I really hope that those willing to participate in this poll elevate the fandom to new public awareness...just please forgive me for my skepticism.

      ReplyDelete
    57. Just as with the previous poll, if you delete your cookies you can vote again.

      ReplyDelete
    58. @Abjuron

Oops, sorry about the Fox/NPR mixup, I think I was thinking of the NPR report more than the RedEye one (although that one seemed a bit borderline if i remember right).

I don't live in the US so I don't have as good an appreciation for the differences between the various media outlets over there, so the fox comment may be due to a blurring of my perception.

No hard feelings in any case :)

      ReplyDelete
    59. @Anonymous

      Certainly no hard feelings!

I just want everyone to be aware of the machine they are feeding info into. Everyone has a bias. It really doesn't matter your nationality or politics. Everyone in media is after ratings, and making a villain out of a new and relatively defenseless community is easy ratings fodder.

I don't think that this fandom has anything to gain by posing for any media outlet of any kind, by participating in polls like this. This has already been painfully portrayed by Sethisto's NPR "interview". I really can't believe that he honestly thinks that these kind of folks can ever see us objectively (which is why the posting of this poll baffles me). We should just keep on doing what we have done for months before anyone ever took notice, and let them say what they will.

There is no reason we should be going out looking for more press by participating in moronic polls like this one. The press will naturally come to us in time, but if we seek the attention, it can only end in disaster...

      ReplyDelete
    60. I've never heard anything bad said about the show so far (the people who watch it on the other hand...) but I guess there's no harm in giving it +1 in the underrated section if it will stir up more interest. It really is a show that is finally deserving of all of the attention it can get.

But as for guilty pleasure? Hell no, this isn't a guilty pleasure and I really doubt anyone that visits this site would EVER classify it as such. Saying it is a guilty pleasure is saying, "I know this is something I shouldn't like or want to see more of, but I can't seem to turn from it." I'm pretty sure the majority here fall under, "Wow, this is great, I want to see more!"

But I digress, I cannot bring myself to give it a vote as a guilty pleasure when my own interest is genuine and honest. It is one of those shows that I really couldn't care less what others might think of me as just because of the content and intended audience. It is a rare, bright shining light in the TV lineup from Hell that the other listed polls reminded me still exist and one I hope really makes a lasting impression on society.

On an unrelated note, those "Worst of" and other negative polls seriously needed an "All of the above" option.
