• Story: Five Minutes

[Comedy][Random][Shipping] The pre-readers wanted a cool quote to go with it, but couldn't think of anything worthy, so I grabbed a pony:

    3. Okay, wow. That was a trip, and no mistake. One of the most deserving stories for the "Random" tag I have ever read.

      My mind couldn't take it.

    5. This was so deliciously random and awesome. Really helped that it was Twinkie Pie shipping too. Thats always great.

    6. I can think of few better way to retire to bed that reading something as ridiculously amazing as this story. Tomorrow I feel I should delve into the random tag a bit more... may Luna have mercy on my mind.
Also, great story. The hollow leg bit had my in stitches.

    7. Good stuff. Trippy, and quite believable for Pinkie Pie's mindscape.

I'd love to hear the actual song that was being played, though. :D

    8. ...

What just happened and why do I feel like it somehow made sence just because Pinkie was involved?

      ReplyDelete
    9. Someone needs to make a Psychonauts crossover now with all the ponies going to psychic summer camp. Twilight can be Raz with the rest of the cast being filled with all the others. Whichever one takes the role of Lili whould be shipped with Twilight, of course.

    11. So I finally broke down and decided to read a shipping fic and WHAT THE HELL>

I completely lost it at "It tasted like grapes!"

    12. I think the best part of this is Pinkie manipulating the sheer madness of her own subconscious without even trying.

Truly, Pink Pony Is Best Pony.

    13. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHis how I feel after reading that fic... in a good way. I don't believe it was nearly random enough but it's impossible to write down Pinkie's mind so I suppose the author did a great job xD. Now if you'll excuse me everypony... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WE'RE ALL DOOMED AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

    14. That was delightfully weird and unsettling.

    15. Missed the mark on a couple things, but overall it was certainly an entertaining read. Nailed Pinkie pretty much on the head. Cheers

    19. I'm glad that everybody's enjoying it so much! Now I just have to hope that my next few efforts can live up to expectations, despite them not being quite so... out there.

There is a YouTube video of the song being performed live at Furry Fiesta in 2009. Not the easiest to hear everything, but....

I don't suppose I might be able to get some clarification on what you thought I missed the mark on? Always looking to improve. :)

I lost it somewhere around the magnets line.
I don't think there's ever been a more appropriate symbol for Twilight's mind.

    24. magnets how they work?

Interesting story, pinkie pie didn't seem crazy enough, but that's just my take on her. Well written, and interesting idea, so keep up the good work.

    26. Spike's reaction when he found out what Twilight was planning was perfect by itself, but the fact that it kept coming back up made me lose it.

      ReplyDelete
    27. DOOOOOMED! Oh Spike... lol
I don't get into shipping much, but this was pretty darn good.
      Twilight is now grape candy.

    28. Lucky she didn't go deep enough to find Pinkamena Diane Pie. (shudders)

      ReplyDelete
    29. Yeah, I was hoping Twilight would find Pinkamena.

Maybe that's the bit you missed.

    30. “A gateway to places beyond time and space that’ll unleash overly amorous tentacle-y beasties on all of Ponyville? Oh, that’d be the best!”

“Pin- What?!?” Twilight asked, turning to look at her bouncing friend, who had somehow found the time to dress up in a white blouse, blue skirt, and matching scarf while she wasn’t looking. “Pinkie, stop doing that!”

      “Gomen,” Pinkie pouted.

I spat my drink out at that, I was laughing so hard. I wasn't expecting that at all.

    31. Random and fluffy and awesome. I love the statue of Pinkie and the magnet.

    32. Ah, yes, as I've stated before, good stuff! I had a blast reading it.

    33. SUB LEVEL 3.

"Five minutes" is a song title reference to sublevel 03.

Just want to say that I caught it, as soon as I saw the lyrics.

...who the hell listens to sub level 03, though?

      ReplyDelete
    34. Poor Twilight, she will never be the same again.

      ReplyDelete
    35. Wow. I never expected to see a MLP fic inspired by a Sub-Level 03 song! I'm still reading it, no rating yet, but you do win 20 Internets for referencing SL03. :D

      ReplyDelete
    36. OK, that was highly entertaining, and the imagery fit with the lyrics very well. (Did I mention this is one of my favorite songs? <3)
TwiPie isn't one of my usual ships, but it worked very well here! (Frankly, I can see 'friends with benefits' being the typical extent of Pinkie's relationships; she seems the type who would party with anypony. ^^) All my stars, you have them.

      ReplyDelete
    37. Cuddle Barn. I think that's all I need to know. I wondered about the inclusion of Vinyl Scratch, that seems completely out of nowhere, so I'm glad there was at least a late explanation.

Quantum cupcakes! Someone needs to make this happen. You write crazy fourth-wall-breaking Pinkie spookily well. I'm absolutely astonished at this story's free flow despite the chaotic and utterly surreal events occuring in the dream sequence. I think even if I wasn't enjoying this, I'd have to give it 5 stars for craft alone!

This was really cute as hell. I think it's the first TwiPie fic I've ever read, and it worked out really great in the end. Like I said, kind of blown away by the writing on top of that.

    38. @ItsTheWhinyGuys
And thanks very much for your advice! :)

I did try to tone Twilight down a smidge in the beginning; seems I'm the only person who sees her going full mad scientist. ;)

      ReplyDelete
    39. Dude. Proper name for the ship is obviously "Twinkie" or "Twinkie Pie".

      Better than "Pielight Sparkle."

      ReplyDelete
    40. While I usually tend towards more involved, longer fics, this was exactly as long as it needed to be to do what it meant to do.

As for what that WAS? Pinkie Pie. That's the full answer.

No seriously though, lovely little nibble-fic!

    42. Spoiler! Beware!
This was great! just... holy crap that was funny. I'm always very weary of "shipping". in fact, this is the first one I've read, but it wasn't the creepy thing I'd thought it would be! Twi is my fav character, Pinkie a debatable tie for second, and you nailed the characters! (made me go re-watch fav episode 15)

However, someone explain this to me: “A gateway to places beyond time and space that’ll unleash overly amorous tentacle-y beasties on all of Ponyville? Oh, that’d be the best!”

“Pin- What?!?” Twilight asked, turning to look at her bouncing friend, who had somehow found the time to dress up in a white blouse, blue skirt, and matching scarf while she wasn’t looking. “Pinkie, stop doing that!”

      “Gomen,” Pinkie pouted.
      Whaaaat?

      ReplyDelete
    43. So this story was so delightfully funny and random I can't wait for more! Keep up the good work! I lost it at,"First we need to jump out the window!" "Wait what?" I could just IMAGINE Twilight's expression when saying that lol.

      ReplyDelete
    44. @Anonymous

It's a reference to Japanese hentai ("pervert") anime. They typically feature demonic creatures that have large numbers of tentacles which they use in an... overly-amorous fashion (to use Pinkie's terms) on Japanese schoolgirls. The outfit Pinkie is wearing here is a Japanese high school girl's uniform. And "Gomen" is Japanese for "Sorry."

      Got it in one!

And the outfit is supposed to be the pony equivalent of the stereotypical Japanese schoolgirl uniform.
