• Comics: The Fresh Princess of Ponyville // Ego's Celestia

So apparently the above comic was sent to us in story post format, which completely confused me, because I was halfway through formatting it as a story post, and then I got to the part where I link the story with the title, and they were image links instead! A normal person would have recognized their mistake, but my brain just shut off for a good half a minute in complete confusion. That seems to be happening to me more often lately. My inbox is so full of pony that when I reach a non-pony email I have to sit there for a second and process the fact that it's not a pony thing I'm looking at. Emails from my professor, for instance. It's disorientating. Apparently Phoe has the same problem, so at least I'm not alone.

So anyway, the comic: Part I Part II | Part III |

After the page break we also have another comic by Ego, which is a continuation/alteration of her Luna one showing her stages of life. I get so jealous when I see this pony's art, for serious. I can't draw to save my life.

    See what I mean?

    10. Hey maybe it's a secret plot to make your lives miserable by drowning you with pony emails.

But then again it's not a bad kind of miserable is it?

Especially considering your currently mind controlled by the masses known as 'bronies' to do more stuff.

    11. Mother of Celestia, Luna's crib sleeping pose just froze my heart and shattered my D'aawww-o-meter... Ego, it's time to step up and challenge MadMax.

Comedy VS the power of D'AAAWWW!

    12. Now I'm thinking of the Pixar "Day & Night" short in relation to Celestia & Luna. So much cute I'm in pain here. And the first one contains an awful lot of win. Twilight, you go, girl; you kick flank!

      I don't see it >_>

Are we supposed to be seeing that little bit of baby Luna? Because if not, I'm lost.

    19. Ego is a freaking master of emotions and drawing. And her comics make total sense to boot. You're doing an amazing job with those.

And the fresh princess of Ponyville? Pure gold xD

    20. I tried to read the first one in Will Smith's voice but I just kept thinking of Twilight reading it out in her formal voice like when she does a speech. I have no idea why I did, but it was pretty funny.

    21. I actually sang it. Also, filly Celestia is adorable, but luna at that age would have been cuter.

    22. Celestia's hair changed when she had to take over the moon as well.

In other news, Ego is a boss. Much respect!

    23. Ego never fails to blow my mind with how amazingly moving her works are. Definitely want to see more!

    24. So it was when Luna was first born, both at Filly-hood, Luna's Banishment and then Celestia controlling the Celestial Cycle? Brilliant, Ego. Please keep it up

    25. Tia/Luna comics are the best! Love it!

    26. Nice touch in the Celestia comic - she's wearing the Element of Magic tiara in the post-banishment panel. Also...ARGH. Such tear-jerking DAWWWWS.

    27. So this makes Spike DJ Jazzy Jeff and Rarity Hillary.
      I'm okay with this.

    28. The Fresh Princess comic was really funny especially is you can sing it in our head in Twilight's voice as if she was rapping.

Ego always brings out so much emotions with her comics. From cuteness to love to sadness and joy. I find it is more what is not said with her works then what is said. Her art is just that good.

    29. The Hub needs to make a commercial out of "The Fresh Princess of Ponyville".

Seriously, it should be the new Equestria Girls.

      Bronies on to Ponyville!

    32. comic number 2 NEEDS an episode...

I think it would be a heart-clenching episode...

Baby Luna is grabbing Celestia's mane.

    34. D'awww, filly Celestia looking at her new baby sister. It's so wonderful that those two will not face hardship and betrayel in their life.

      T_T

    35. The Fresh Prince thing nailed it pretty good in the first two comics but completely feel apart rhyming wise in the third one.

    36. The Celestia one touched my heart

    37. As a suggestion the Fresh Princess of Ponyville should follow in the style of the original about how Will Smith winds up in Bel-Air, with the final scene showing Twilight sitting on a throne made of her own books.

But since in the original song the dice in the mirror part is already the second last verse, might as well conclude this remix at the point just before Twilight Sparkle first ever encounter with Pinkie Pie.

If done well, it might become popular as an opening theme parody of Friendship is Magic, since this version tells how Twilight first wound up in Ponyville.

    38. Ok, somepony tell me I'm not crazy.

I SWEAR that I have seen that exact "non-pony email/from my professor/disorientating" bit somewhere before. I don't know if it was an older post here, or somewhere else, but I took a double take while reading this post, thinking somehow it was reposted by mistake or something.

Did it sound familiar to anypony else?

    39. Luna is grabbing filly Celestia's hair in the first panel :3

      ReplyDelete
    40. That first image of Ego's comic seems to suggest Luna's ear poking out, in other words she is sleeping in a similar position to the second image.

That's my conclusion after saving the pic and enlarging it on my PC.

      ReplyDelete
    41. Also we need some HD version of Ego's comic, enlarging the first image turns it into a jumble of pixels.

      ReplyDelete
    42. On second thoughts maybe Luna is grabbing filly Celestia's hair in the first panel, lulz.
