    6. I'm not sure why, but this looks like the beginning of an epic pirate story.

Seriously, I can feel some mysterious power and the most amazing adventures coming from those 2 coins.

I would love an [adventure] tag'd sequel of this.

    8. Why are there not more stories like this? THIS is what ponies are all about people.

    9. I intend to read this, but if you haven't read it yet, Read Twilight October. It is short and adorable.

    10. Very cute and sweet. Almost like eating a bit of cotton candy, a sweet taste that vanishes quickly on the tongue.

    11. Hey, this was that fic I requested!
      Sweet!

    12. That story was adorable! We need more like it

    13. Picture, if you will, a large, beautiful field filled with flowers so beautiful that you cannot help but frolic and dance in. As you hop and twirl cheerfully, you feel so happy and carefree and begin to notice that the world around you is slowly joining you in your jubilation. Before long, the field is vibrant, colourful, and animated with life and laughter, as you discover that you are not the only person playing, which makes it all the better.

This story is that field, and I loved every minute I spent frolicking in it.

    14. wow, that intro is good

    15. Dang, somebody beat me to PipsqueakxDinky! =P

As for the story, bravo, author. Well-polished, not an error in sight, good sequence of events. It's two fillies playing around, and while it's pretty much impossible to do anything monumental with that sort of premise, you do it justice - short and innocent alright. Certainly a good read.

    16. I recommend "Squeakydink" as the title of this pairing.

    17. @gato

Yeah, I know what you mean about the coins. How odd was it that they just happened to have a big pirate ship on one side, and then they have two ponies on the deck of the ship.

But the other side is rather bland. Just a star. Yep, just a gold star.

      ...

      A... gold star... a... yellow... star... o____o

Pip. Dinky. Bury the coins 10,000 miles deep in a volcano. Better safe than sorry!

      ReplyDelete
    18. >They grinned and pirate-hugged. It was a normal hug, but they both said 'Arrr' during it.
-Pirate-hugs, hugs now with 20% more ‘Yarr!’. ;)

      >Buried underneath some dirt and underwater weeds, something golden flashed. His eyes widened and he quickly surfaced, sucking in air.
-In almost every single series, animations, movies and etc... everything and everyone are always perfectly able to have their eyes open, when underwater.
Is it even possible, for real ? I heard some people can manage to do it, but it must be quite difficult, without even talking about how much it must sting... because of whatever stuff there’s in the water usually (dirt and stuff, salt, chlorine, etc...).

      >What followed was a torrential flow of high-pitched gibberish as one of their fantasies came true.
-Ahh, the sound that can both kill your heart... and your eardrums ;).

      -----

A light and good story, I say. A moment in the life of 2 adorable ponies ;).

    19. That was so sweet! Very well done. I'm still waiting for someone to write a grown-Pip/Dinky ship fic, but this will do for the time being :D

    20. @Alondro
Was the 'gold star And volcano' thing, a Mario RPG reference, I wonder ?

      ReplyDelete
    21. @Nova25 I made a "The Star in Yellow" reference, since I'd just read the last two parts of it on the same day I read this. ;3

      ReplyDelete
    22. Man, the new parts are fantastic. A strong departure from the first story, but good nonetheless. Pipsqueak & Dinky FTW.

      ReplyDelete
    23. Both stories are great. Short, well written and cute. The shipping's not bad either. I like this story.

Also Pip and Dinky should be official.

      ReplyDelete
    24. This is an official head-canon for me. this is well deserving of 6 stars. Bravo author, bravo!!!

      ReplyDelete
    25. Why does the second one have to have the "sad" tag? I LOVED the first one, but I can't read the second one now! I'd blubber like a little filly I would!

      ReplyDelete
    26. Thank you for the amazing reception, bronies!

      ReplyDelete
    27. I cried all the way through the last chapter

      ReplyDelete
    28. Genius. Pure, tear-inducing, poetic genius. I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed of the fact that I didn't cry.

      ReplyDelete
    29. This fanfic...I just...I don't know what to say. It's brilliant and so emotional. Bravo to the author once again!

      ReplyDelete
    30. There are no words.
There are only tears, and a five-star rating because there aren't any more stars.

      ReplyDelete
    31. I think we all knew this was going to end in death. I think we all knew it would be tender and not cruel. I don't think we were ready for such a simple and yet profound and tender end. It was pure and heartfelt, and pulled at the noblest part of the soul to see the last moments of those two dear ponies, still so deeply in love even in death. And that is why the tears fall from our eyes instead of theirs.

      ReplyDelete
    32. This is a happy kind of sad. Not like Loss. Tears were very much shed on the inside. I feel so happy for them.

      ReplyDelete
    33. @Alondro
Yeeeah... I supposed it might have been that too, but I had hoped for a Mario RPG reference at that moment.

    34. Eternity :

      >If you read the first story and loved it for the lack of shipping and pure childlike innocence, then I urge you not to taint the memory by reading this sequel.
-Ooook ? We breathe slowly... calmly... and we don’t start making this sound like a potential crime against humanity, JUST because 2 loveable characters are older and ‘’shipped’’ together.
...it’s a bit ‘sensationalist’-much, to be in the description, if someone ask me.

      -----

      CH.1 :

      >there are few things that remain eternal.
      >The stars? Nay, for they flicker in and out at the behest of the Princess.
-Huh... on the account that average yellow sun like ours can last for OVER 5 billion years ! ...well, I would say that stars are somewhere ‘near’ the top of what most people would qualify as ‘‘technically eternal’’...

      >Pipsqueak said, not quite as good with words as he would one day become.
-Predicting him a Writer career ? Will he be the one to write the saga of ‘’Marry Potter’’ ? ;)

      CH.2 :

      >“Why can’t I do it? I’ve climbed this tree a million times,” he mumbled to himself.
      >“Yeah, but not with this. This was supposed to be forever.
-I know it’s supposed to be a bit sad and touching but... ladders... they aren’t that hard to make.

      > But that world was for children alone. That’s what made it what it was. She was an adult, and adults had no place in the realm of childish imagination.
-100% or 0% ? Again with that kind of reasoning... No one ever said there couldn’t be a touch of fun and ‘’childish’’ imagination, from time to time, once ‘adult’... just less often, that’s all. More often shared with your child(ren).

      >“Maybe,” Dinky whispered, “We have to get older so others have the chance to be young.”
-Well, that at least was a good touch of wisdom.

      CH.3 :

      >...
-... I say... I might have ‘’liked’’ it better, if last part it had been more centered around, maybe, Patch’s wedding with his older parents (Dinky, Pipsqueak) assisting it... would have worked well with the later memories of their own wedding... it would have also added a sense of ‘continuity’, you know, ‘love continues to the next generation’ kind of thing ?
Like... just to ‘show’ that, even if we lose Dinky and Pipsqueak, that their love will continues through their son, hope for the future I suppose... something like that...

The stars: You are applying real world facts to a world where the sun and moon are controlled by alicorns and there are talking animals and dragons. Let's try to be fair here.
Ladders: I addressed this (and a bunch of other points) in a long comment on the story itself.
Patch: This story wasn't about Patch though. It was about Pipsqueak and Dinky and their love for each other. Not to mention that would mean a comparatively shorter age gap between the second and third chapter and therefore not in keeping with the idea of three different stages in their lives.
If it makes you feel better, their love and Patch's life will be explored in even more detail in a third story.

      ReplyDelete
    36. @DawnFade Agreed totally. If anything, the way the Princesses control the sun, moon and stars are rather an overt indication that their universe is VERY small, a clear microcosm, with the celestial bodies being small, magical objects rather than the vast bodies they are in our universe. I've applied that concept to many of my planned fan-fictions.

Ladders... ugh, some people just don't get symbolism and metaphor! Critical thinking skill FAIL -20. What DO they teach them at these schools? They don't understand that it's not about simply getting up into the tree. The whole scene was to illustrate Pip having to give up the simple joy of childhood, losing the fit of the old hoofhold was the symbol of his lost youth. Frankly, as a child I would've considered using a ladder to climb a tree cheating!

    37. @DawnFade
      ...(sigh)... -_-

-About the sun(s) and other stars.
You know... even in the most fantasy-magical universes... Suns tend to STILL be powerful giant masses of gas in fusion in space, not balls of marshmallow and pixy dust with smileys on them suspended in the sky through the power of ''let's not think too much about it'' (...most of the time).

The difference (compared to our universe) is that, sometimes, suns are ''alive'' in those 'Other' Universes, or they are gods on duty, or they are simple sentient beings content on fulfilling their eternal role in the gears of their universe, and etc...
Sometimes, the sun will be a normal sun that follows the same path and rules as our sun, sometimes not. Sometimes it will control itself, being sentient or a super-being on duty, sometimes it will be controlled by another super-being.

In any case... They are big balls of 'something burning', sentient or not, controlled in a way or another, that brings heat and light on planets (you know... the whole 'ecosystem' thing, gamma rays, transfer of heat/energy... those things still exist and happen in magical-fantasy universes. Speaking of which...).

      ---

      >You are applying real world facts to a world where the sun and moon are controlled by alicorns and there are talking animals and dragons.
-Because there's magic, or ''It's Magic'', doesn't mean that you MUST dump logic in the toilet... or basic common sense.

Most 'magical stuff' can be mostly-explained through theories and such... sometimes simple ones, sometimes through some stretches of imagination.

Magic isn't something that can be TOTALLY explained, but it can be partially... if not, how the hell would people be able to learn and teach magic in all those universes, huh ?

      ---

-About ladders : Odd ? I searched for the word 'ladder' and found nothing.

-About Patch : *shrug* I never said to add an entire chunk of story either...

      -----

      @Alondro
Hummm... you know... Celestia *controls* only one Sun, and Luna *controls* only one Moon, right ? Luna doesn't exactly ''control'' the stars in the night sky, but rather makes them appear/visible since the sun isn't blocking them anymore.

Also, it would be rather illogical to say that the MLP:FiM *Universe* is restrained to '1 Sun-1 Moon- 1 Planet-and a bunch of white dots'... because, in case you forgot ; a star is a sun, meaning that chances are that planets will orbit around them, or vice-versa. There's hundreds, thousands of stars, so... not so much for 'micro-universe' ?

      >Ladders... ugh, some people just don't get symbolism and metaphor! Critical thinking skill FAIL -20.
-Ok now... insulting-much ? You suppose a LOT of things about people too, by the way.
If I want to care about philosophy and stuff, I will ! I darn like philosophy like you wouldn't believe... but, if I want to say that a chair is a chair, I will just say that.

-I once had a tree with a small ladder (and later, a platform) nailed into it, and I was pretty damn happy about it.

      >What DO they teach them at these schools?
-...I wish to remain polite, so I will simply say that I would recommend you to stop thinking that your ''head'' is bigger than a stadium.

Frankly, your tone is slightly insulting and condescending.
