• The Spam Filter and You!

    So I checked the spam filter for yesterday, and saw 35 comments locked away in there.

    5 of them were actual spam.

    This filter doesn't let anything actual-spammy through, but it seems to block a ton of legit comments.  Even "wingboner" got filtered...what the hell?

    Anyway everything has been restored. I posted about this on the blogger forum, and was told you have to "teach" your spam filter.  So if you do end up getting filtered, don't worry about the double post when I restore it...it's "learning".

      Ah. I was wondering about possible reasons my E-mail might not have gotten through (though, it could also just be that you sought not to post it).

      Anyway, sorry to hear about that little incident. I hope the spam filter "learns" properly from now on.

      Soon the filter will learn to spam ponies like the rest of us and block trolls... the big green orcish kind. Not the kind that carry flamethrowers. (No matter how much we wish it so)

      I've noticed that when I try to post using the comment box at the bottom of the page it doesn't go through, but if I click reply to a comment a popup box appears and using that my comments go through properly. I would have been the first reply here but I had to wait for someone else to comment, so that I could click reply to them and get the popup box.

      Sometimes it doesn't go through the first time I click post on this box. I have to do some dancing around naked at full moon before being able to post. (i.e. click preview first and then post comment) Don't know if this is some standard feature intended to make me proofread what was typed.

      Yup. this time too. Red mark under 'Preview' seems to suggest somethin.

      Free spam filters aren't 100% reliable. If you want as much convenience and security as you can possible get, try email filtering services.
