Hey, you guys remember the Smile! charity album Bronies for Good put together to raise money for the Children's Cancer Association? Well, it's in its final wind down phases (going until the 25th for all those of you who want to hear some brony-made music and compete against each others' kindness for fabulous prizes!), but as we're hitting the final stretch there's some pretty momentous news: including bonuses from GlobalGiving, they've reached $21,000!! Holy wow on toast.
You can find all the details on this post on their website for all the juicy details, including how they're handling ties on largest total donations for figuring out prize winners and stuff. Just in case you can't find it amidst all of their words, here it is amidst all of mine - prizes will be figured out according to largest donation amounts first, with the earliest among those contenders being handed the blue ribbon in the event of ties. This is your last chance to prove you are the best there is at saving the lives of sick kids, so get out there and show 'em your stuff!
Let's take a moment to pat ourselves on the back for making this happen. Bronies for Good for organizing and spearheading the movement, and all of you for making it the stunning success that it's been so far. Whenever you find yourself wondering what it means to be a part of this fandom, look back on this, and smile! Ha... see what I did there? Ahem. As a final parting note, they'll be gearing up for a new charity soon in partnership with the group Your Siblings called Seeds of Kindness. The goal of that one is going to be putting up a clinic in Uganda followed by a green village in Burundi. If you're an artist or a musician or even just somepony with an extra gift to lend to the incentive pool, you should head over to the Bronies for Good website and get in touch with them. Keep being awesome, folks!

ReplyDeleteHoly wow on toast is best wow.
$21,000?! Hory shet! That's really impressive for any community. I'm glad they were able to raise so much money.
ReplyDeleteThis is my fandom. There are many like it but this one is mine. Without my fandom I am useless. Without me, my fandom is useless. By this oath I do solemnly swear, to uphold the peace, and spead happiness to others. I am a Brony. HOO-RAH
ReplyDeleteThis is just incredible. Who'd have thought we be pulling in numbers like that? Bravo, everyone.
ReplyDeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteI'm new and have just 1 little question...
HOW FLIPPING FAST DO THESE POST KEEP COMING?
I need my sleep!
why you won't let me? *sad face*
Oh wow that is just such an incredible thing! $21,000? This fandom is just too awesome, I am so proud to be a brony.
ReplyDeleteCelestia's so cute in the picture, you wouldn't think to guess that it's from the "Ask Molestia" Tumblr.
ReplyDeleteMolestia can be cute, too.
I'm so glad I decided to be apart of this album. I emailed them just a few hours before the deadline asking if there was still time to submit a song. They said yes, but the problem was that I didn't have anything written. That's when I spent the next 5 hours composing a 2 minute song. After that, I even wrote a second one because I wasn't satisfied with the first. Ironically, they took the first one anyway, so I just uploaded the second on to my YouTube page lol. Oh what a night xD
ReplyDeletegood god thats allot of money. im amazed by this fandom day in and day out but this takes the cake.
ReplyDeleteAlright, that's it. This fandom has just won its Immortality
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome news! Congrats to everyone who participated... you're all a big part of making the fandom the best it can be.
ReplyDeleteholy smokes O_O
ReplyDeleteThat Celestia is stupidly cute o'-'o
ReplyDeleteWhen looking in the dictionary for Stupid Huge you'll find only the word: Bronies
ReplyDeleteNuff said.
That's a lut of money
ReplyDeleteThis is why I love bronies. For all of the crap that sometimes happens among us, we still manage to do something amazing every once and a while. Something that I don't think I've ever heard any other fandom ever doing, at least not to this magnitude.
ReplyDelete@Rainbow crashed?
ReplyDeleteUsually one post every hour or two.
If Seth is in a good mood a lot of them often
That's very nice! Hope the next one is even more successful.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Wow! Way to go everyone! I am so proud to be a part of this community. All of the Brony charities proves that the Brony fandom is best fandom!
ReplyDeleteOn toast you say?
ReplyDeleteBronies can do anything
ReplyDeleteCharity is nice, but it can be... ineffective. We must strive as a community to increase the efficiency per dollar of charities as well as their sizes.
ReplyDeleteThere's some awesome stuff about making charity efficient on TedTalks. We should look into that.
I also wonder if it's possible to make a general Kiva account for all Bronies, then vote on where the microloans go...
Holy crap. I contributed a bit of it, but nowhere near the lion's share. I feel proud to be in on something so big.
ReplyDeleteJJ really does fantastic work. It's just weird because that Celestia picture has stupid huge amounts of cute, but she's really not supposed to be cute. She's the ruler/goddess of an entire nation/planet, and should have more of a regal type of beauty.
ReplyDeleteThat's what strikes me most about that picture, it's something you aren't expecting.
Speaking of, it bowls me over every day how awesome it is to be a part of something like this. For everything the world says about this group, we are truly an amazing bunch of people. I'm going to go give a little bit more right now.
@Mike
ReplyDeleteWe can strive to do even better in the future...
But for the moment, Hooray! This community has done a wonderful thing.
Even if Smile is the only Pony-related music that sits on my iPhone now (it makes this more special, you know) my eyes well up every time I hear my favourites on shuffle. Knowing that this was done for a very good cause, I'd bet others are touched by the song selection and the knowledge that they have done good for the CCA at the same time. Let's pat our toast with goodwill!
ReplyDeleteJust imagine how many season 1 DVD sets could be produced with that amount of money.
ReplyDeleteWow 21,000 lots of moneys made by bronies for good!
ReplyDeleteCoulda done better. Mhmp
ReplyDeleteThe music is really good and its toward a great cause, I highly recommend anyone who can to give a little to this charity! think of how warm u'll feel inside knowing u've helped brighten a child's day? :D
ReplyDeleteThat was slightly complicating... hope I did it right. =/
ReplyDelete$21,000, that's a lot of bits.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, dat Celestia pic.
Just donated. Feels good, though the process was a bit confusing.
ReplyDeleteI donated a few weeks ago. Some of the music is kinda meh, but the cause is way worth it.
ReplyDeleteIsn't this the album that some asshat got the advertisement for pulled off Youtube?
ReplyDeleteIt was a charity drive ferfucksake...
HOLY!!!!!!!! after seeing that total it literally took my breath away, I intend on getting in on that Uganda clinic project. This is why I'm proud to be a brony we actually give back to the world. Keep going strong everyone.
ReplyDeleteMy god this is what makes me happy to be part of this fandom. Keep it up Bronys!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me I hadn't donated yet! Good cause and good music!
ReplyDelete...didnt that image come from askprincessmolestia?
ReplyDeleteAm i the only one who think that putting children in front in such situations is a discrimination ? Old people have done a way more for the world and us all and still, instead of helping them we help some kids that may turn out to be hitlers or alcoholics in the end.
ReplyDeleteSay whaaaaaaaaaat?!
ReplyDeleteI'm sad that I missed out on being part on the first album, but at least I can take part in the next fundraiser.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is why I love this fandom so much. Keep being awesome, Bronies!
ReplyDelete@Rasly
ReplyDeleteSorry you sound so bitter about that, but think of it this way. The "old people" have already lived long and probably fulfilling lives while children still have so much to live for. Sure some might not turn out well, but does that stop the children from also turning out as great leaders, doctors, or the kind of people that go out and help others, ultimately becoming blessings to the world? No! So don't look at it negatively, there is so much to be grateful for :)
Pluss no other fandom I have ever seen has EVER done anything like this!!! My mind is blown, and I'm so proud of everyone :D
