How is it that Fillystata got Lovecraft as an additional tag, but this didn't?

Yes yes yes yes yes! I've been waiting months for someone to do this idea. I can't wait to read it.

The picture is worse than the story. Just finished Reading it a little while ago and I like it. It's still setting the stage but Lurks hasn't steered me wrong before.

ughh....what's ''lovecraftian'' what is everyone talking about?

@Mr.Anonymous
HP Lovecraft was a famous author of "Weird Fiction". Many of his stories were about people seeing things that were not meant to be seen, and insanity was a very common theme. His works were major inspirations for many modern horror writers, including Stephen King.

You had me at "rugose".

Fridge logic: Rarity is the perfect protagonist for a Lovecraft story, given how often she faints.

Oh man, must read this as soon as I have free time. I've actually been waiting to see just such a story pop up. It's even Innsmouth as I thought it may be! ^_^

"Although it makes sense that Aunty Madrepore would have had children"

Clever name choice.

@Silentcarto:
The term you are searching for is Fridge Brilliance.

Potential Spoilers Follow, as I have read the source material.

Also, looks like the author is throwing a lot more hints towards it being a tomato in the mirror ending than Lovecraft ever did. Rarity's going to turn into a sea pony (Shoo Be Doo), isn't she? I'm a bit sad, as she is one of my favorite ponies, but the only potentially better selections that I can think of for filling her position are Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy, which ponies occupy my top tier.

Grats on ponifying one of my favorite Lovecraft stories, and good luck!

Glomkettle: Because I didn't think of asking one?

silentcarto: Yes indeed! Also, she's the pony who can best appreciate blasphemous but fabulous jewelry!

Bugsydor: If so, she will be the epitome of a beautiful and elegant tomato. ;)

Aww.... Really? Back in March I started writing an MLP Shadow Over Innsmouth fic and recently got back to it and finished it. I was going to submit it soon, just as soon as I finished editing it. :( Still, my fic differs quite a bit from this as far as I can tell.

It's Shadow Over Innsmouth. If you have ANY familiarity with the original story, the Tomato Surprise, well, won't be. Innsmouth is one of the ur-examples of Tomato In The Mirror.

Why no google document???

Finally got around to reading this. (I've had Fallout Equestria to get through, leave me alone.) So far, I'm loving it! Rarity being a drama llama was spot-on, and when they were unpacking the crate I was thinking, "Jewelry... jewelry... hey, where's the tiara of strange and unearthly design? --Oh! There it is. Good."
Out of curiosity, was this triggered by the HP Lovecraft Literary Podcast (hppodcraft.com)? It seems too coincidental that they just finished talking about Shadow Over Innsmouth.

Inb4 "I'm a sea pony motherfucker!". Ahem...

Liking it so far.

I fully expect it was all started by Captain Seabed Marsh.

@Flutter!shy

I'd be interested in reading it, since 'Innsmouth' is my favorite story of Lovecraft's.
