Well, I'm guessing the reason that Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy were off-colour is the same reason they couldn't make Twilight, not enough shades of purple/pink. Still, damn cool to see all that.
Also, it's kind of always irked me that Rainbow Dash isn't a complete rainbow, she only has six colours.
if i may make a suggestion for the other shades of color. you can simply reskin your minecraft game (and draw custom colors) allowing for unique sets of things to play with. like, lets say you dont really use obsidian too much. make it purple!
It's true, any color issues are not due to laziness but rather Minecraft not providing the colors we needed and would have loved to use. As for Twilight: The outline of her body would have had to be purple, leaving us with nothing to color her coat with. Believe me, as much work as this took (Fluttershy was the first pony - she took about twelve hours, six workers and lots of yelling at each other for being too stupid to stick to a blueprint), we'd have loved to put even more work in it to finish the mural.
Thoughts about a custom texture pack have already been tossed around though, and I really want to finish the mural. This project is not dead yet.
Damnit all! I made images for each pony to do this, but I'm still working on Derpy. Worse part is, these ones look identical to my patterns! Except AJ, those lines in her mane and tail should be more complete.

Hi, I am one of the guys who helped make those (and had the original idea). Fluttershy alone is about 142X101 blocks. The rest are about 100X100. We couldn't build twilight because there isn't enough shades of purple. We tried, checked all the facts, all the blocks. But nothing worked. Until Notch adds more purple, we can't make twilight accuratly. All together these took about a month to make, due to the pony haters who are also on that server (It's only seven of us who like this show there). We had to find a picture, edit it to make the pixels stand out, then actually build them.
I was fairly happy with the colors i had to work with when i was making Twilight, then again, i am colourblind, so it's not like i can tell if my colouring was off.

it used to be harder to do that kind of thing vertically, but with the walk function hilarious workplace incidents have been drastically reduced
