• Fandom History Book Announcement for Comic-Con and BronyCon!

Those of you who've been around the fandom for a while might recognize ChocolatePony from their early days on Tumblr. For the past few years, they've been working on a pretty neat project to document the history and development of pop culture conventions in the United States -- ours included!

If you're lucky enough to be at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, stop by their booth to learn more about this upcoming book, how you can support it, and maybe get yourself some merch as well! They've also got a booth and upcoming panel at BronyCon for those of you able to make it out to Baltimore next week.

Hit the break for more details from the confectionary horse!

Hey, Chocolate Pony (SouthParkTaoist) here! As some of you know since 2011 I been researching and writing a book on the history of fandom and pop culture conventions. Some of you have probably been to my booth or to my convention and fandom history panels at different pony cons. As this project was formed when I started running, vending, and paneling at pony cons I thought my fellow bronies would be the right audience to ask to help back this project.

The book, CONquest: The History and Rise of America’s PopCulture Conventions, has just launched on Kickstarter to coincide with San Diego Comic Con and BronyCon to raise funds to help complete writing, acquire photo rights, and publishing costs. Later chapters of the book also include the history of the Animation Revival and brony fandom, the rise and analysis of pony conventions, and lots more.

Promotional material includes some free mini comics, postcards, and promo ribbons will be available at my booths at San Diego Comic Con (#1236) this coming weekend and at BronyCon (#114) next weekend. Please stop by for a ribbon and to learn more about this project.

Backer rewards on Kickstarter include these convention themed pins, including an exclusive brony themed pin for backers who request this design along with our other pin designs.

Want a preview of what’s to come, come see our Brony Fandom History panel at BronyCon coming up. Brony Fandom History with Choco and Simul will be on Saturday at 5:30 PM in the Hall of Chaos at BronyCon, with special guest Strumpet on the panel.

    Thanks!
