Read the first chapter, Haven't decided how I feel about the story yet. The first chapter seemed a bit rushed. Also I'd like to point out that over 40,000 years the constellations above earth will look nothing like they do now. In only 1000 years the the stars Making up the 'Big Dipper' will have moved such that it will look more like a frying pan than a ladle.

Have read, will ruminate. Have some well meaning, yet slightly sharpened criticism:
Firstly, I know enough of WH40K universe to know the terms and references (warp, astropath, immaterium) but more important than knowing those is knowing just what is going on. If it weren't for the description, I'd have no idea whose on the freighter or why. A few key lines of simple
exposition early on would really help the reader make sense of why the things are going on as they are.
Secondly, the dialogue felt a little forced and unnatural. Try reading it out as if you were doing so aloud, and keep in mind the characters personalities (for both settings of the story thus far). Nothing needs a drastic change, just a bit of smooth edging really.
I have to agree with Zephyrion, it feels rushed a bit.
In my own opinion (and I'm not saying I'm right at all) the two halves of the story didn't seem well jointed. That said, obviously they're not going to mesh perfectly ordinarily, but this was like you could have axed either side entirely and only brought in the reference to crossover at the end with a line or two (which is sort of what you did).
With some honest work on your part, this will be a story I'd keep my eyes open for updates of. I do wonder though, if it isn't actually a grimdark story, and you've simply not tagged it as such because this first chapter isn't? Or are you going to be grim free for the course of it?
...but humans in Equestria? Don't know if I want that...
So far, the fic looks...okay. I'm sure it'll pick up once we go along, but for now, it's just okay.
Oh, the line about full scale invasion is very clever and it's cringe brilliant foreshadowing like that this chapter needed a bit more of to knit the two halves together.

Uuummmmmmm... reading a my little pony fanfiction crossover is NOT the way to get familiar with 40k universe/lore. I haven't read this yet, but I highly doubt he could do the whole damn thing justice. Its freaking huge.
Go read a codex online or something.
OT: this looks interesting. I take it the Clearing is Equestria. I actually like that idea in a way.

Ok, I'll admit, when I first saw this and the tags attached to it I said, "nope!" I usually don't find that sci-fi crossovers fit in very well with Equestria. But after passing it up three times in a row, I finally gave in. That pic just looked too badass.
Anyways, GREAT STORY! It's well-written, has very few (if any) grammatical mistakes, and keeps the plot moving without rushing it too much. So far, the plot is believable, although still a bit of a stretch for me. Great job overall!
I can just imagine what'll happen when those space marines get a load of Equestria's magical inhabitants... and Pinkie's parties!!

As far as it goes so far, not entirely sure if want, but more want than unwant. Mr. Floats needs to be drawn, mustache, hat and all. Interest is growing, despite my brain being snagged on this being a WH40K =/= Grimdark
I can't help but imagine a bunch of space marines and technicians piling up on a view screen at some point, all going "...what-the-emperor?" Looking forward to some considerable lols at their reactions. Bonus points if the hardass marine becomes a brony.
